Anyone still using iPhone 4s?

Just curious if anyone out there is still using a 4s? And how it handles iOS8? Thanks for any feedback!

Applied IOS 8.2 to my 4S and my battery was 100% when I went to bed.  No apps running, no bluetooth, have done pretty much everything prior to imrprove battery life.  Only had wifi connected and icloud,  I have since disabled icloud and battery is dropping fast.
Was 42% then dropped to 38% in 15mins..
need a fix..

  • Airport Express for Airplay Audio Stream while still using iPhone's 3G/4G Internet?

I'd like to use an Airport Express to stream music from my iphone via Airplay (AMP > Analog RCA's > Minijack Splitter > Airport Express). Here's the rub: I wont have an internet connection where this setup is located at.
Basic networking would make it impossible to get online with thise becaue the iphone would be looking at the Airport as the default gate.
I understand that you can setup the network on your phone to be a static IP, subnet, and leave the default gateway blank. This should allow the phone to see the Airport/Airplay and still utilize the 3G/LTE of the AT&T service. Can anyone confirm this?  UPDATED, THIS PIECE WORKS LIKE A CHARM.
If that works, that's great, I could stop there, but I'd like to take it a step further to make it easier to use by someone other than a network engineer. Can you set the DHCP server on the Express to give out a Blank default gateway, or will you need to configure the network on each device you connect to it?
The last piece isn't a deal killer for me, but it would make it super easy to use for others.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!
    Ryan

Hello TKSF78. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I want to use my Airport Express to stream my music to my stereo so I can listen to music while still using the WIFI connection for internet.
In order to do both simultaneously, you just need to reconfigure the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to join the wireless network created by the other router.
The following is the basic settings to do so:
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
o Wireless Network Name: <enter the Network Name or SSID of the wireless network that you want your AX to join>
o Wireless Security: <select the appropriate security type>
o Wireless Password: <enter the appropriate wireless security password>
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Music
    o Enable AirTunes (checked)

  • Anyone still using the Silver box with a Non-BT Ro...

My setup has been working fine since the beginning of Vision.. and this afternoon BT applied an update to the silver box, which seems to have finally borked my connection without using a HH..
I am aware of the recent thread regarding this after the update with the triangles boot logo... however this appears to be a slightly different variation of the problem.. after the triangle boot logo update I could still use the box as normal and everything worked (I have the box in a DMZ outside my ipcop firewall) - I like to think I have some idea what im doing..
Now though.. it actively appears to be attempting to communicate with the HH.. I get a new screen on boot.. where it ticks off 2 things.. Vision+ Box Startup (which gets a tick) and Communicating with BT Home Hub (a cross), the box then dumps me out to a newer looking connection failure screen.
If I wireshark the comms.. it still pulls it's ip from my DHCP server as expected and communicates using it (its pingable on that IP).. but then tries to go off and ping something that doesnt exist.. which I assume it is expecting the HH to answer..
Before I cancel my service (I have a black hub but as its unfit for purpose I wont be using it), can anyone confirm if this is still working for them (i.e silver box and a non homehub connection)
    Cheers,
    Sam

  • Is anyone still using a 2x burner?

I'm still using my Pioneer DVR-104 2x(?) SuperDrive to burn dvd-r's using 8x media. Is there any reason why an older burner would cause discs to be less compatible with dvd players?

Do they still make the slower media? I cannot find it around here. I burn everthing slow as well. I tried burning faster a few times but little things didn't work like the play buttons to menus and so on. I attributed it the fast burn,,,who knows!

  • Yep, I am still using iphone 3, but email wont sync, itunes wont find it

But since Feb 18 or so, my iphone 3 cannot add new email accounts, and existing email accounts cannot sync to get new email any more, even when wifi is active.
Also, my iphone 3 can no longer be recognized by itunes any more.
Did Apple do some trick to block older iphones, such as mine, to work?

ok....itunes now recognizes my iphone 3, that was due to a bad connection.
But still, emails wont sync.  When adding gmail account, after a pause, it will come back and say, Cannot Connect Using SSL (Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?)

  • Anyone ever use Iphone headset on a Macbook?

My mother & I got a Macbook at the exact same time, and she's having a few issues with hers, one of them being that she made the mistake of assuming her Iphone earbuds were compatible with her Macbook, and plugged them in to listen. Now (even without the speakers in) she has NO sound on her Macbook at ALL. This worries me, because until she said that, I would've assumed you could use your Iphone earbuds on your laptop with no problems. She took it to a one-to-one class, and they said they'd have to call a tech in to look at it, and that they wouldn't think there would be a problem with compatibility. Has anyone else had this problem?

If you have a laptop with no sound, check your output jack on the side. Is there a red light on inside? If so, the analog/digital switch is stuck and the laptop won’t have any sound. Take a wood toothpick and insert it gently in the output sound jack and press gently downwards until the red light (LED) is off. You should have sound again. If you can’t get the light to go out, you will have to have it serviced. Contact Apple.

  • Upgrade to iPhone 3GS and still use iPhone 3G?

Hey everyone! I've got a 16GB iPhone 3G on Rogers that I got on a 3 year contract last October, and I'm planning on taking advantage of their promotional pricing and upgrading to a 32GB iPhone 3GS for $550. I'm just wondering, after I upgrade and do a restore on my old iPhone to wipe it, can I use the SIM card from the new iPhone to activate the old one, and them remove it and give the old one to my sister to use as an iPod Touch, or will the SIM card that's in the old one still activate it? Or, do they just put the SIM from the old one in the new one when I buy it (Which is what they'd do for any other GSM phone, but this is an iPhone so it MAY be different)? She's willing to pay me $200 for it which will help cover the cost of the new one. I don't mind swapping SIMs to re-activate it after software updates because eventually she's going to get a plan for it which will make it unnecessary... Also, I know jail-breaking it will fix that but I don't want to jail-break it.

Ok, I upgraded my phone yesterday in an Apple Retail Store and this is what happened:
    1. They took the SIM card from my old 3G and put it the new one
    2. They activated the new iPhone using the old SIM (It picked up my service immediately)
    3. They gave me both iPhones (The old one still functioning as an iPod) and the new SIM from the new phone separate
After that I took them both home and after restoring my new phone from a backup (And inadvertently losing some cool videos I'd taken), I used the "Erase All Content and Settings" feature on the old one. Two hours later, it woke up inactivated and requesting a "Valid SIM Card". I simply popped the unused SIM from the new phone in, and plugged it in to my sister's iBook. After registering and accepting the license agreement and all that other stuff, it automatically activated and started to sync. It functions perfectly fine as an iPod Touch with or without the SIM card, but there's no chance of making an emergency call since it's always on No Service (The SIM has never been used). I'm just leaving the SIM card in there so she won't have to hunt for it every time she upgrades it.

  • Anyone still having iPhone 5 Weak Wifi issues?

I'm sure this issue must be staring me in the face on these forums, but it seems like most iPhone 5 WiFi-related discussions are related to the Verizon update issue.  Most of the time, my iPhone very strong WiFi signal (as I should) coming from a nearby Airport Extreme.  Occasionally, when I return into my WiFi zone (coming home from work, etc.), the signal is shown as weak (only one bar).  WiFi On/Off & Airplane mode On/Off have no effect, while restarting the phone DOES return everything to normal.  Throughout these events, all other devices (iPod Touches & iPhone 4 with iOS 6 installed, iMac, etc.) show consistent "strong" WiFi.  The issue is limited to the iPhone 5.
Is this an issue that others are experiencing?  (If so, and thread links would be appreciated)

    Apple, FIX THIS PHONE!
Dan, Apple's not here so imploring them on this forum to fix your phone makes you look ridiculous.
If you have bad WiFi connectivity and you've tried all the troubleshooting steps including restoring your phone as a NEW device (not using backup at all) and you still have issues, bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • Why can't I receive texts on my Galaxy S5 from friends still using iPhones?

Apparently there's a huge problem with the Galaxy S5 receiving texts messages from iPhones.  I was never aware of it until I ordered my S5 and switched from an iPhone 5.  They never mentioned anything in the reviews on Verizon, Samsung or anywhere selling the S5 but if you google the issue, it's all over the internet.  They're blaming it on Apple but my sister has the Galaxy S4 and never had an issue receiving texts from my iPhone.  Apparently there's no fix for it either.  One person said they've had it for a month and still can't receive texts.  Any clues?

    iOS: Deactivating iMessage
What are you talking about?. There is a fix. See link above.
There are many more at the apple support site. It primarily means the imessage was never turned off from the Apple servers. Once removed text messages can be sent and received easily. Between iPhone and android device and vis a vie.
    Good Luck

  • Hi my partner used my email address and iTunes account to set up his iPhone and now both our phones have merged! Does anyone know how to separate these? Can he still use our iTunes account with a different Id or email! Please help!!

HI my partner used my apple id and email address when setting up his iPhone so when he turned on iCloud our phones merged!! How do we undo this? Can he still use my iTunes account with a different Id and can he change the email on his phone without losing information? Also iPad is linked too, the family uses this and I would like to keep my phone separate! At the moment nothing is sacred! Please help! We are not very good with computers!!

Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies
I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have anymore question.

  • HT1695 Anyone else having issues with not being able to get wifi on their iPhone 4S? I can't even switch the wifi button to try and connect to my wifi at home but my iPad still uses the wifi just fine.

I can't even switch the wifi button to try and connect to my wifi at home but my iPad still uses the wifi just fine.

Thank you, I am trying to last option now. Resetting my network settings and if that still doesn't work ill have to go in to the apple store. Hopefully I won't need a new phone because I'm already at my limit with replacements on my AppleCare even though the issue with the phones 3 out of 4 times wasn't my fault and I can't afford to buy another phone.

  • HT204074 All of our devices have the same apple id (2 iphone 4's & 1 Windows Comp..) How can we seperate them but also allow them to still use the same itunes account?

I tried to ask a similar question before, however did not understand our issues well enough to even form a comprehensive question and the kind replies.
I apologize, unfortunately I've yet to resolve our problem.
All of our devices are under the same Apple ID & password (an IPhone 4s, an IPhone 4, and a Dell Laptop that uses Windows 7.) How in the world can
we separate them (so we can both use our free 5GB under the iCloud storage that each of our IPhone's offer, but "also" still use the same shared ITunes
    account?
As it stands right now, my son's phone (iPhone 4) is set up under our Apple ID & pw-which enables him to use the free 5gb's under the iCloud.
I cannot take advantage of the Free 5gb's iCloud on my IPhone 4s, because it's all "my info." on my son's phone (my email address & pw=what we've always used for our shared ITunes acct.)
A big fat mess I know, and don't even want to confuse things by asking about these SMTP's...1 thing at a time!
Not sure if it is still on his phone, however in trying to resolve this issue last time I set him up with a MobileMe address. I believe I entered my info back into his phone because it created a bigger mess!
Thank you in advance for any suggestions/help! It's taken me some time to gather the patience and courage to ask for help again in resolved this
    issue!

I don't know if I'm asking this all in a way that can be understood? Thanks ED3K, however that part I do understand (in the link you provided!)
What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!
Thanks again for "anyone" that can help me!!!

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.
