Anyone successfully installed Windows 7 x64 Enterprise on iMac running OSX 10.9.3?

I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 Enterprise onto IMac (late 2013 model) that has Maverick OSX 10.9.3 installed.  We have done this in the past, before upgrading to 2012R2, and using 10.9.2 OSX.
When I create the TS media using x64 WinPE, insert into the IMac and boot - the boot selection pulls up.  I select the USB EFI boot (only one that loads and it starts running WinPE and pulling up the Task sequence selection.  I think the issue
is with the partition table.  Before installing Windows - I exit with F8, run diskpart, which shows 3 primary partitions.  I add a 4th and format as NTFS.  I now have 4 primary partitions - none that show as EFI.  The TS starts, checks
requirements, and tried to download the preinstallation environment to the disk as the TS tells it to install to disk 0, part 4 with no formatting and fails with 0x8007000f.
If I use diskpart to clean the drive and boot with the USB  to EFI, let SCCM select Bios or UEFI, it will detect to UEFI, download the PE environment and apply the OS.  When it reboots, it does not recognize the hd, showing a flashing folder.
Any help or comments are appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
I recommend you use Boot Camp to create partition.
Boot Camp is a multi boot utility included with Apple Inc.'s OS X that assists users in installing Microsoft Windows operating systems on Intel-based Macintosh computers.

  • HT5628 Has anyone successfully installed Windows 8.1 through bootcamp?

Need help installing Windows 8.1 through bootcamp.   I would appreciate any guidance since bootcamp is asking for the iso file?  How can I get the iso file onto the usb drive?

    Short answer: I cheated.
I'm running a Macbook Pro 15" Retina display without an optical drive. Fortunately, I also have a Windows 7 box that I used to create a .iso from my Windows 8.1 Pro DVD, and transfered that onto a USB Flash Drive that I let Boot Camp Assistant work with to create the volume needed to set up Boot Camp and install Windows 8.1.
I read some articles that talked about being able to download an .iso from Microsoft directly. You might want to search online or the Microsoft site to find out options for downloading the correct .iso from them. As long as you already have the product key you purchased, it's not like they lose a sale.
Other than that, I couldn't figure it out.
If you're on an iMac or have a SuperDrive there may be options within Disk Utility to read the Windows 8.1 DVD and create a .iso file from there.
Can't swear to it, but if I couldn't have "cheated" those were the things I'd have investigated.
    Good luck!

  • Install Windows 8.1 on iMac running Mavericks

    Hello everybody,
I have a problem with my iMac 21.5 late 2012 running Mavericks. I wanted to install Windows 8.1 on a partition of the Mac, and therefore I bought the DVD from Microsoft and started Boot Camp. I followed the whole procedure, saved the support software on a 16gb flash drive, and all seemed to be going on fine, up to when I discovered I wasn't able to use my Apple Magic Mouse and Keyboard to finish configuring Windows (I mean, from where it asks you to enter a PC name and set the color of the system). I repeated the whole process again and again, but I always get stuck at the same point... Any suggestion?
Thank you very much in advance for your help

Windows will not boot from USB if the Mac has an internal optical drive. This is something that Microsoft implemented.

    Q: How do I install Windows 7/8 /8 Beta on a Mac?
Only Windows 7 is supported by Apple in Bootcamp at this time, however you can install Windows 8/ 8 Beta into virtual machine software.

  • HT1338 Has anyone successfully installed Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC software inside Windows 7 Pro inside Parallels 8 inside Mountain Lion running on a Mac Pro built in 2013?

I wanted to ask if anyone using a Mac Pro running Mountain Lion, Parallels 8, and Windows 7 Pro could run XP Mode?
My experience has not been encouraging in that I progress to the end of the final mile, that is configuring XP Mode for first use, then an error message appears saying I should try again, that is I should attempt to configure XP Mode again for the first time use.  An endless loop, with no visibility into the nature of my configuration failure.
I understand my problem is a narrowly focused, microsoft-centric issue, however, I would imagine this XP behavioral Mode running inside Windows 7 Pro is a common goal for many users, so I thought this question was reasonable to ask our group.
    Please advise, and thank you.

    Hello FatMac,
I wanted to let you know that your "requires a patch" feedback looked--at first--like the piece of the puzzle I was missing.  Turned out, however, when I downloaded the 64 bit version of the patch, then attempted to install it under Windows 7 Pro, my installation was first searched, then my patch installation returned a message saying this patch was not applicable to my system. (BTW:my Windows 7 install is 64 bit) This failure to install surprised me because, based on an earlier evaluation for hardware virturalization support, my MacPro does not have virturalization hardware support.  I mean, based on this no hardware support feedback, and based on the nature of this patch, it looked as if the patch should install and set my problem right.
Nevertheless, the patch won't install, and I don't know a way to query or coerce it.  I'm approaching the point of diminishing returns with this problem.  I have two applications (Adobe Illustrator 10 and Framemaker 7.0) which will run, but they don't behave properly, under Windows 7.  BTW: I did make somewhat extensive use of the Windows compatibility tool early on, but nevertheless, FrameMaker 7 simply quits at the worst possible moment, and Illustrator 10 graphics are very often blank black areas where pallettes should be.
Thanks again for your thoughts and help.  I believed we were heading down the right track, but for reasons not visible to me, (the user), the patch that should fix this problem will not install...
If there is any saving grace to this situation, my problem is repeatable.  I mean, it's not on-again/off-again.  When I attempt to configure XP Mode for its first use, the progress bar turns red at the final second, then complains that it could not complete its setup.  Please Try Again recouts its final advice.  (Famous words marking the beginning of an endless loop:-)
Were it not for Illustrator and FrameMaker, I would not have taken us down this dark road.
So long for now, and hope to talk to you all again soon...

  • Cannot install Windows 7 on my iMac running Snow Leopard

When I run Boot Camp Assistant to partition the HDD it says it wants to install some Windows drivers first.  When I say OK it starts and then reports that it can't find the drivers.  I have to force quit Boot Camp Assistant to regain control of the iMac.

disconnect all usb devices (except your kb and mouse and usb drive being used by boot camp)
    use only a usb2 drive
if your imac has a dvd drive, you have to use that for the windows installer, usb will not work

  • Has anyone successfully installed AIR on Huawei Ideo U8150 running android 2.2?

    Hi,
I am trying to get AIR apps running on a Huawei Ideo U8150.  When I sync with AppBrain, I see Adobe Air show up as an installable App, but when I go to install the Aop, I get an "Item not found" message.
Has anyone had a more successful experience with tyring to install AIR on this model of phone?

This is not an Android 2.2 issue. Your device can't run Adobe AIR because it doesn't have a compatible processor. This is why AIR doesn't show up in the standard Android Marketplace search from that phone.
AppBrain unfortunately isn't tuning out incompatible apps, which is why you can see it there even though you can't run it. There's a few similar posts around this forum for other devices.
Devices need an ARMv7 processor, you have an ARMv6 (http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a7201a&c=qualcomm_msm7201a).
Ouch, hope you haven't blown your cash on this

  • OVD 10.1.4.2 - anyone successfully installed the patch on Windows?

I have OVD 10.1.4.0.1 installed on the WinXP machine in front of me.
I've tried to install the 10.1.4.2 patch/upgrade, but it just bombs out with a fatal windows exception reported in setup.exe (although the command line reports an AttachHome error, see below).
NB; this machine never had OUI installed before (OVD 10.1.4.0.1 didn't use it). I've since added OUI, but the error continues.
The only mention in metalink is Note:565514.1 Patch 10.1.4.2 Fails to Apply with 'AttachHome' failed .But this does not properly describe or address the error I am seeing.
Has anyone successfully installed the 10.1.4.2 patch for OVD?
    Regards,
    Paul

    ViD
    Created the D:\Oracle\OViD\inventory\ContentsXML\comps.xml file successfully
AttachHome Failed.Oracle Home already exists at this location. Select another location.

Thanks for the suggestion Kiran, but it doesn't help.
In fact the D:\Oracle\OViD\inventory\ContentsXML\comps.xml file is created by the patch, and doesn't contain any home information.
I'm thinking the 'AttachHome' is a red herring. The forked setup.exe process is actually crashing with an exception, and it is the parent process (OVD10142_Server.exe) that seems to be interpreting this as an 'AttachHome' failure.
I've given up on this - word I got from Oracle is to wait for the 10.1.4.3 patch which should be out soon.
But I'm still interested - has anyone installed the 10.1.4.2 patch on Windows? [Kiran - you didn't explicitly say whether you had]

  • Installing Windows 7 Enterprise on a brand new PC

Hi, this is my first post here so please be gentle.
First of all I would like to mention what a great forum and resource this website is for noobs like myself and I would immensely appreciate any help / advice.
I recently applied for a Desktop Support position and gained an interview.  Unfortunately I was unsuccessful at the interview stage.  One of the questions asked in the interview was "talk me through how you would install Windows 7 Enterprise
    on a brand new PC".
I've previously worked as an IT Service Desk Analyst but want to get out of this call centre environment and start working out in the field instead.  I've previously performed clean installs of Windows 7 Home Premium numerous laptops at home during
my spare time. However, I understand that installing Windows 7 Enterprise on a new corporate PC is somewhat quite different and there are many approaches for this. I really need advice for this approach as I have another interview lined up for Wednesday and
am sure a similar sort of question will again be asked.  I will also need to know how to add a new PC to the network once Windows 7 Enterprise is installed.
Any help will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

    it worked
    thanks
but i actually have another problem
a year ago (whenever the newest Mac OS came out), i upgraded the OS.
in the middle of installing the OS, i got error messages, and i had to restart the installation a couple times before i finally got through.
when i tried to install OS X on my new hard drive, the same error message came up.
anyone know whats wrong with my computer?
thanks for all your help by the way.

  • Trouble Installing Windows XP on my iMac

I recently made the switch from a PC to a Mac, however I then found out after I got rid of my PC that I would need it for school. Anyway, I used Boot Camp to install Windows XP onto my iMac, but then when I got to the part where I was prompted to select a partition, I did not know which to choose! I cancelled the installation process and restarted my computer and looked up the support guide for using Boot Camp.
However, now that I know which partition to choose, I can't get Windows to start installing again! I choose Windows on the Boot Camp Assistant and it reads the disc and goes to the black screen, but all I see is a "_" blinking.
If anyone has any ideas as to what to do for this, please let me know!

I used Boot Camp to install Windows XP
You should then post your question in the Boot Camp forums:

  • I just recently installed windows 7 enterprise 64bit on my dv3-2080eo.

I just recently installed windows 7 enterprise 64bit on my dv3-2080eo. Everything is brilliant except for the fingerprint reader which does not work. It shows up in device manager as being installed correctly, but digital persona and windows say its not connected. I've tried a few reinstalls of software and drivers but to no avail. And when I look for software, the results are pretty sparse. HP tries to convince me that im using a beta software and support will show up soon, but this is not a beta copy of anything. Has anyone done what ive done and sorted it out?

  • Failed to install Windows Vista SP2 on iMac

I was trying to install Windows Vista on my iMac. In fact, I have successfully installed before but I deleted it because something wrong with it. However, the second time I installed was failed (Stuck at "Completing Installation") I tried 4 times and they were all the same. But the weirdest thing was I could install Windows Vista through Parallels Desktop. (but can't install it through boot camp)
I just thought of one problem
-I plugged in an external hard disk
    Would it be the problem?
Is there any method that can solve this problem?

    Hi,
I just thought of one problem
-I plugged in an external hard disk
    Would it be the problem?
It is most likely the cause of your problem.
During installation of Vista (and personally I do this with OSX system upgrades as well) it is advisable to disconnect all non-essential external devices, leaving only mouse, keyboard and, if neccessary, display connected.
SO, disconnected your external HD, use the BootCamp Assistant to revert the partitioning back to a single-OSX volume and start again.
After reverting back you should restart your Mac.
    Hope it helps
    Stefan

Trying to install Windows 7 on new iMac (OS X Mavericks). Have Windows 7 DVD. Have superdrive. Have USB flash drive. What is, and where do I find the "Windows ISO image" that Bootcamp is asking for? ("select the Windows ISO image"...)

You can use the installation dvd from microsoft or you can download the iso file from microsoft and use that method instead.

    You require Windows 7.
Windows 7 is the same and will run the same as it would on a Windows computer. All programs that run on a windows computer will run on your Windows once installed. You will need anti virus software for your Windows partition. Microsoft Security Essentials is free and it works well.
Read the help files before installing http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/.
