Anyone tried using zdate/DSTswitch_contloctime ?

Hi guys!
As the end of daylight saving is approching we were just planning the shutdown of our SAP systems when we found the option to slow down the time of SAP with the parameter: zdate/DSTswitch_contloctime ?
My question is whether anyone tried this before? Does this really work? What happens when the OS changes the time back?

Logic Express is essentially the same as Logic Pro, minus a few Instrument plugins and a few Effects Plugins (there are some other slight differences, but nothing that is likely to cause any significant problems).
You/she will be able to open Pro projects in Express fine, but if any of the 'missing plugins' have been used these will not be found in Express. For Instruments plugs, this might cause a problem because the tracks will not play unless a replacement plugin is selected. For Effects plugins, you might be missing some, but the project should play OK, just sound a little different.
Should these issues become a problem, one solution would be to use the "Bounce in Place" feature to print these tracks as audio temporarily in Logic Pro.
Logic Studio (Logic Pro) comes with all the Jampacks, Express does not. If any loops from the Jampacks have been used, you should be OK as long as the project has been "Saved with Assets.. including Imported Audio". This will copy any loops used into the project folder.
In short, nothing insurmountable.

AVCHD - Has anyone tried using Parallels

Hello,
I have the HDR-SR1 and am just as frustrated as everyone else on this board.
Has anyone tried using Parallels to capture the AVCHD footage in the Windows environment then bringing it into FPC on your Mac?
I tried but couldn't get it to locate the drive. My last solution is the Blackmagic vid card, just wanted to see if this works before I buy one.

Anyone Tried Using Sharepoint Web Services with BPEL?

I've tried using SharePoint Web Services with BPEL, I'm able set it to use the sharepoint web service as a partner link in orchestration, but when I try to compile the bpel file, I get a "error: null" on the compiler log for the *.bpel file.
Anyone have any success with using Sharepoint Web Services with BPEL?

Anyone tried using Xcode 4?

With the public release of Xcode 4, I was wondering if anyone has tried using it for InDesign development?
Any success stories? Any failures?
What version of the SDK did you try? 3, 4, 5?
Any important lessons learnt that you'd like to document?

I've been trying this myself and I've run into a few issues. I'm trying to build for CS4 using Xcode4.
There's a bit of back and forth in this as I'm trying to explain clearly what I've done.
First off I started with a clean Mac with 10.6 as the OS with the CS4 InDesign SDK installed. I then installed Xcode4 using: xcode_4.0.2_and_ios_sdk_4.3.dmg. I then created a simple project using Dolly.sh and just used whatever was set and the default values.
When opening the xcode project with Xcode4, the project opened without comment (I was expect a question about if I wanted to upgrade the project), and I could see that the links to files in the InDesign SDK weren't being resolved. I re-created the project files using Dolly but changed the path from the relative path to a fully specified path.
Next I noticed that there was no MacOSX10.4u.sdk installed. In the file browser on the left, under the project icon was a message: "2 targets, missing base SDK".
I restarted the Xcode4 installer and couldn't see an option for installing the 10.4 SDK. I then went back to a older Xcode3 installer xcode_3.2.2_and_iphone_sdk_3.2_final.dmg and used it to install the MacOSX10.4u.sdk file (and gcc 4.0). Then I went back to the Xcode4 installer and ran it again. Oddly running the Xcode4 installer deleted the MacOSX10.4u.sdk (and gcc 4.0) files.
So I removed the /Developer folder and installed Xcode3 into a /DeveloperXcode3 folder and the Xcode4 into a /DeveloperXcode4 folder. In the build settings I changed the "Base SDK" to be "/DeveloperXcode3/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk". The "missing SDK" message remained. Restarting Xcode4 didn't solve the problem.
At any point I' try to build and I'd see a message like "The selected run destination is not valid for this action."
Anyone got any ideas hov I can move forward?

Has anyone tried using the app Telnames for their mobile sites/storage?

Have been looking at EverWeb and lurking in the forums following the discussions regarding it. Downloaded the demo and it seems like more then I want to do. (Still using iWeb for my main site)
While looking for alternatives I saw Telnames on App Store. I would like to know if anyone has tried using/buying it? I will be working on a 6+ and building a Bed and Breakfast mobile site.

Thanks for the info on symlinks. I pretty much already convinced the powers above me this was a bad idea because of the horrible performance and problems getting OS X to even recognize it as a home directory, but the symlink info is the nail in the coffin. We have had great success using windows file servers for our network home directories (we are a complete windows shop besides my macs) and I really didn't want to change anyways.

Has anyone tried using a Mac to stream BBC iPlayer content to a 360 or PS3?

I am not sure where to post this query, and there doesn't seem to be a good place to ask questions regarding iPlayer and the Mac, but I thought I'd try here.
I have tried using the PS3's iPlayer, and for the most part it's good, but sometimes fails to have some of the content the normal iPlayer site has (bizarrely).
To try and sort this problem, I've downloaded iPlayer desktop for Mac, which allows me to download programmes to my mac, but what I really want to do is stream those programmes so that I can watch them on my TV.
I have both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 (and mac software to stream content to both) but the .mp4 files it downloads won't play on either console. The 360 just doesn't see it, and the PS3 sees it but when playing the screen just goes black.
I have tried exporting iPlayer's .mp4 file in another format, but none of my other software will open it [Divx converter, iMovie, Quicktime Pro], let alone convert it into another format (such as .mov or divx for good streaming).
I'm sure that I heard iPlayer uses WMV, but I can't find any way of changing what format iPlayer Desktop downloads.
Any ideas how I can get past this?

Has anyone tried using a JavaScript External Library with 64bit InDesign?

I have an event listener that calls a JavaScript file. The JS script uses a c++ external library. All works fine with 32 bit InDesign including the new cloud version, but I get an "I/O error" when trying to load the library from a 64bit InDesign generated event. I have even tried using the sample project BasicExternalObject and get the same error.
Any thots would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I got this working some time ago. I am not a mac user but perhaps the general principle is the same:
In Windows 64, if your application is compiled 64bit then you can only access InDesign 64bit and its object library. However if your app is 32 bit then you can only access InDesign 32bit and its object library.
Sorry I don’t know more about the mac. All of our users (200+) use InDesign for windows so of course our app is also windows based. Does the mac support both a 32 and 64 bit version of InDesign? If not my solution will not be much help.

Anyone tried using LDIF file in the User Profile Synchronization Process?

Microsoft pushied an article recently talking about using LDIF file in the SharePoint's user profile synchronization.

Currently I am unable to obtain the required "Replicate Directory Change" permission set up by the AD admin. So I thought of exploring this alternative since I still have AD search permission right now.
So far, I was able to set up the MOSSLDAP-LDIFMA, and use an import.ldif file to add, remove and update user profiles. However, there are some problems that I can't resolve. One of key problems is, the LDIF-imported records can't be
sync'd with login-based records.
In my environment, when a user login SharePoint via Windows authentication, a new profile would be added, under the account name "domain\username". Meanwhile, when an LDIF record imported, there will be another profile created under the account
name "domain:domain\username", or "domain:username". That is, there would be two profiles for each user.
Based on my understanding, it is very likely the user profile synchronization is based on the user's account name. But in document and sample files provided, I can't find out any clue how to prepare the ldif file so that it will update the
matching records, instead of creating new ones.
Any help? Thanks in advance.

It's nice that Microsoft offers the ability to import user profiles via LDIF into SharePoint, but it is useless if the account name is not correct after the import. I have tried multiple imports from the LDIF to get a user account to show up as "domain\username" but
it always ends up as "domain:domain\username", or "domain:username". or a variation
of these 2 with a colon separating the domain form the username. i see that multiple people have had the same problem, but unfortunetaly can't seem to find a solution. Also I see Bradley mentions that he was able to import accounts using get-QADUser,
but he doesnt mention what the accounts import as or if it resolved the domain colon issue.

Has anyone tried using their keyboard dock on iPad 2?

I'm trying mine out as I write ... it seems to be fine?? Anyone? Anyone?!

Im using the Apple keyboard dock with the iPad 2 right now. Initial thoughts/concerns:
- the iPad seems to want to tip over and out of the dock when using on lap
- some shortcuts (like command+arrows to navigate back/forth on safari, etc) don't work while other do (such as command+c, v, x--the standard ones). My guess is that this limitation was intentional so iPad users don't replace their laptops.

Anyone tried using the Apple HDMI video adapter with an iPad 2?

Mine doesn't recognise it. This is the second adaptor Apple has provided me with and I had a Genius check out the iPad for me. She recommended a complete reset. This hasn't fixed it. Anyone managed to get HDMI out of their iPad 2?

Anyone Tried Using SGD To Serve Entire Desktops Rather Than Just Apps?

I am wondering if anyone out there has used SGD to connect their users to their desktops via RDP versus just using terminal servers and delivering applications? If so, what is the performance like and is there any special tuning needed to help performance...?

Just to clarify a bit, SGD absolutely delivers fullscreen desktops and applications (or a mixture of) natively. This is exactly what it is designed to do! There are many options and configurations to make the delivery efficient and easy to do, even in a large scale deployment. In addition to SGD software, Sun also offers separately the Sun VDI Software product that is designed specifically to broker connections to a fullscreen desktop. Currently a Right To Use (RTU) license for SGD is included with the purchase of a Sun VDI License, providing browser access to the VDI software, as well as a secure SSL connection. However, the RTU restricts SGD usage to one single fullscreen desktop per user. Thus, if you need more than one desktop, want to publish applications (or any mixture of the two), require access to Mainframe systems & Mid-Range systems (in addition to Windows, Unix/Linux), or require a secure connection over the WAN/Internet, you will want to go with an SGD license.

Has anyone tried using a MBP with TD at two different sites?

I just got my TD at home and at one at work yesterday. While I love the display and the docking ability it provides, I have encountered an issue that I haven't resolved, I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this.
At home, the TD is positioned to the left side of the MBP, so I was able to orient the display preferences accordingly. At work, I have to position the TD above the MBP. The starting position for the TD is above the MBP. I am wondering if the MBP can recognize that these two TDs are different devices and position them accordingly. It appears not.
Another interesting quirk: At home, the MBP recognizes the built-in mic and speakers and calls them Thunderbolt audio, I believe. At work, it calls them USB audio. I am wondering what other strange differences I'll see.

Here's an update: The Thunderbold Display user interface is broken.
I made sure all the software/firmware was up to date (now they both label the TD audio as USB, interestingly enough - was the shipped firmware with one of the devices newer than that on the web site???). On days when the Moon is full, the MBP comes out of hibernation with the only display on the computer, on cloudy days, the computer comes out of hibernation with the only display on the TD. From 10 minutes after the hour until quarter to the hour, both displays come up, but open Finder windows randomly are placed on one display or the other. On Thursday mornings, the icon locations on the desktop get shuffled like the display resolution was reduced to VGA and then restored. While both the TD and MBP audio and camera work and I can set either to be active, the system has a definite preference to use the TD for audio and camera (except that Facetime only wants to use the MBP audio).
Did Apple let Microsoft get their hands on this?

Has anyone TRIED using a 128GB SD card in a Lumia ...

I know the 520 is documented as supporting up to a 64GB card, but has anyone actually tried plugging a 128GB card into a 520?

The specs said 64 GB just because at the time there was no 128Gb uSD. There is no difference between the two as far as access so no reason why they should not work. Most specs have since been updated to reflect this.
The 520 has been superceded by then and there's no solid indication/ mention of support. WHy no upgrade to a x3x model which does? If you want to try it's at your own risk but make sure you at least run WP8.1
