Anyone try to load leopard onto a powermac G4 with upgraded processor
I have a sawtooth that I upgraded with a powerlogix processor (1.4G) anybody try to upgrade one yet?
I installed Leopard on a G4 agp sawtooth 1.6 GB PPC upgrade from power logic, 640 mb ram 120 GB hd. The machine boots great from the leopard cd, The install was text book, and fast, Clean install only took 30 minutes. The computer kernal panics or just shuts off after a few seconds loading the OS . I had to use this same machine to install to my mini because the internal DVD is just spent. The Install went just as quickly and the mini boots fine. Trouble shooting I decided to try installing to an external firewire drive. Installed and booted to Leapard. Great ! Not yet.... It was fine until I shut down. The computer will not start Leopard. I used the Leopard install cd to check all of the drives I have installed on and it finds no errors. I have removed and replaced ram with matching sticks, I also have a upgraded video card which I removed and used the stock card. I zapped the pram. I am out of ideas at this point. I would not normally continue with this upgrade, but powerlogic states that their processors are Leopard compatible. Also others are reporting successful results with the same hardware. Any suggestions?

How to put Snow Leopard onto new partition along with Yosemite
Made a second partition on my 2010 iMac that had only one Yosemite partition before. I thought it was supposed to wipe out the original partition when creating another one but much to my surprise Disk Utility merely shrank the size of the Yosemite partition. Result: Yosemite 3.9 TB and new partition (that I want to put Snow Leopard onto) is less than 100 GB. New partition shows under devices in Finder. When I insert Snow Leopard installation CD of course I'm told that I cannot install on this computer or at least this partition. When I restart and hold down the option key the only choice I have is the original partition with Yosemite but not the Snow Leopard partition. So...can anyone tell me what to do to get the Snow Leopard OS onto the second/new partition?
ehstoker wrote:
Didn't work. When I held down the C key I got the black screen with white letters saying that basically I had crashed the computer.
That sounds like your disc is unable to install Snow Leopard - what install disc are you using? Is it grey or a white disk with a Snow Leopard printed on it? Grey discs are for a specific model & cannot be installed on other models. If you can provide a copy of the error message we may be able to help (an image or some of the final output may help). We are left assuming it may be a kernel panic.
The white 'cat' disc is a retail version that can be installed on compatible Macs.

That sounds correct - you don't appear to have managed to install 10.6 yet so you can't select that as a boot option. -
Loading Leopard onto iMac dual intel from iBook softwareG5 computers
I have iMac G4 and iMac dual intel (G5?) computers and just bought iBook with OS 10.5 software on CD. Desire to have at least the iMac dual intel using the same OS, but the software will not load on the iMac intel G5. Both computers have essentially the same memory, etc. Do I have to spend another $129 do get both OS the same?
What makes the software (Leopard OS) so specific to a machine?
The disks that ship with a computer have only been tested on a specific machine, may only contain Mac OS X components designed for that machine, and include additional software, such as iLife, which isn't in the retail package.
Isn't OS 10.5 the same, perform the same, written the same for an iBook, iMac G4, or iMac dual intel computer?
No. All Mac OS X 10.5 retail disks are the same, but OEM disks are usually different builds with different configurations, besides the fact that OEM disks have additional software.

Anyone battling to load Captivate onto LMS so it can be viewed on my iPad?
I have tried to view all the tutorials as to how to load onto Moodle and then to view my captivate on my iPad....I am definitely missing something!
Please can someone help? You publish it as a zipped SCORM module and then upload the zip archive to Moodle as a SCORM. If you don't know what a SCO or a SCORM is then you need to do some study about that. If you don't know how to set up a course in Moodle as a SCORM course then you need to go to the Moodle.org forums and do some study on that.

I have been using the Intuit web site for It's Deductible for the last couple years to enter charitable donations so I could easily import them into Turbo Tax come tax time. The link for the web site is http://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/itsdeductible/ That works fine but when I click the log in button I have the problem.
Previously I was using my older iMac with 10.5.8 and did not have any problems.
Wanted to know if anyone else had a similar problem and if it was resolved? To all that replied to my posting. I did the migration when I got my new iMac. It seems it brought over all the cookies so I deleted all the cookies. The Sign In screen is now working as it should. Safari browser works just fine.
Thanks to all!!!! -
I've been trying to use information found on other threads to update my driver but have had no success; my software and cpu are somewhat older than what I've been reading about. So.... I'm going to try this again before taking the thing to the local fixit shop (I don't want to do that...) And hopefully if there's someone in the same jam out there a search will bring them to this thread.
Is there anyone out there that can give me a simple 'do this, do this, do this, and do this' for my particular setup? I've used DriverSweeper prior to attempting installs, and Mobility Modder to get around AMD's Catalyst installer problems re:bootcamp.
I just wanna play my stupid GAMES, wah!

I love my Mac. But I love my Windows-only games. The first part of your mcelog (the bit about " failed to prefill DIMM database from DMI data") strongly suggest one of the new RAM chips is defective. Start by simply putting the old one back in place and seeing if that helps. If it does, exchange the new faulty one with the seller for one that works. However, since you say yourself you aren't very tech savvy, it may be the case that you've simply purchased a RAM chip that is not compatible with your motherboard (although if both of the new chips are identical and the first one works, that may not be so).
When deciding to upgrade all the most vital hardware components of a machine, it's best to do it one piece at a time, and reconfigure the operating system to account for the new hardware. Uninstall old drivers, install new ones, change any personal settings related to the old hardware, reboot, make sure everything's fine and then repeat the process for every other new piece of hardware. Replacing everything at once without ensuring it will all work together increases the chances problems like this immensely---the problem itself may be very simple, but you've undertaken so many changes in such a short time that finding out what the problem is in the first place can be very complicated. -
Can't load Leopard DVD from G4 optical drive
I worked with a tech person today to try to load Leopard from optical drive on my G4 Powerbook. It doesn't recognize DVDs, but does recognize CDs. I was told to I could get an external DVD player which I did, but the one the Apple Store sold me -- the MacBook Air SuperDrive does not run on the PowerBook G4. I need to be able to load Leopard ASAP. Any suggestions?
I don't know what the salesperson at the store was thinking. The MBA SuperDrive doesn't work with anything but the MBA, unless you dismantle it (voiding the warranty) and perform a hardware modification which will not be described here. And because it's a USB device, it couldn't boot a Powerbook at all, even if it could be used with one after booting. So someone at the Apple Store needs to be enrolled in a reeducation program ASAP.

Can't load drivers for Canon MP610 onto new iMac since loading Leopard
Hello, all you amazingly helpful folks.
Bought new iMac + Canon MP610 yesterday. Successfully installed printer on 3 Macs and a PC, and all was well.
Then--discovered that Leopard DVD was hiding in the box. So, installed Leopard uneventfully. Then--found that scanner wouldn't respond to any commands, and subsequently, I could no longer print from the new iMac ONLY (other Macs still printing fine).
So--I deleted all Canon printer-related folders on the new iMac, and tried to re-load the drivers from the Canon CD. MP Drivers won't load. Keep getting FAILURE message. Tried re-booting, unplugging, in all combinations. Printer still works from the other Macs. Maybe loading Leopard after the original MP610 installation confused things??
What to do next?
Also--NO DRIVERS available for MP610 on Canon web page.
Any assistance much appreciated!!!
Thank you.You may have already done this so forgive me if you have, but I would try deleting the contents of the /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinters folder. I would then navigate to the /Library/Receipts and delete the Canon MP610 xxx.pkg file.
Then control-click on the Printers list in Print & fax and click on "Reset printing system..."
Then empty the Trash, unplug the MP610 USB and restart the iMac.
Then I would install the MP610 v6.91 OS X driver. I found it via the Canon Australia web site (http://www.canon.com.au/products/allin_one_printers/all_in_one_printers/mp610support.aspx).
Once the installation is complete, reconnect the MP610 to the iMac and wait. The printer should automatically appear in the Print & Fax application.
Also, in future, you should be posting this on the Leopard printing forum... -
I can't trasfer music from my library in itunes to my iphone 3GS. A black ring with a line through it comes up when i try to move music onto my iphone from itunes. How can I fix this so that I can load my phone with music?
How are you trying to transfer it and what are your setting on iTunes. I'm not on a computer that has iTunes at the moment so I'm going from memory and similar issue. If iTunes is set to sync music then I don't think you can select and drag, if set to manual manage music then you can. Also make sure you are dragging to music on the iPhone.
Hope this helps -
I am currently trying to load Snow Leopard onto my system and it is frozen
I am currently trying to load Snow Leopard onto my laptop, I have the 10.4.11 system, but the process is stuck on 41 minutes remaing and has been for about half an hour, so nothing is budging! Please help, I am too scared to stop it as the guy in the shop said "whatever you do just let it run its course!" Thank you, Kate
Boot from your bootable backup drive - restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears. Select the icon for your external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the computer starts up do the following:
Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your internal hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Leave DU open and do the following:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the internal drive. Source means the external drive.
This will restore your old system so you can continue using the computer.
An alternative to the above is that after formatting the internal drive restart from the Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard on the freshly formatted internal drive. You can then restore your Home folder and other applications through the Setup Assistant which will provide an option to restore your files from another Mac or hard drive. -

Problems, with Itunes and windows 7 loading content onto ipod shuffle
My system is running windows7 64 bit and I have downloaded the 64 bit Itunes, I am trying to load a new playlist onto a ipod shuffle 2 gig. When I connect to itunes it makes me restore the ipod settings and then when this is complete, itunes will only load a few songs at a time and if I try to load more that ten song Itunes just stops responding. I took the shuffle into an Apple store today and they tell me that it OK so must be my system. Can anyone help please.
Is that ASUS rather than ISUS?
If so, I think I've found info on the motherboard ... if so it doesn't have the P55 or P55M chipsets that can be cranky on Windows 7 systems with iPod/iPda/iPhone connections.
Still, we'd better make sure your BIOS and chipset drivers for the board are up to date. Head to the following page at ASUSTek and use the Navigation Wizard to autodetect your motherboard version. Check to see if there are any BIOS updates, chipset driver updates or other driver updates available for it (say, integrated audio, display adaptors, raid controllers, etc):

My i pod "freezes" when i try to load
I have a 120gb i pod. When i try to load music it freezes at between 3-5gb. I have 2 other i pods in the house which i dont have any problems with. I returned this i pod to the store where it was purchased and they ran a diagnostic check and say they cannot find any problem. Can anyone help ?
Can someone help us with this? I have the same problem. I can usually upload one or two gigabytes just fine onto a restored ipod, but if I try to add more, either at the same time or at a later time, the transfer freezes, at around 2 to 5 gigabytes. Once it freezes, I can't even see the music I previously uploaded onto my ipod, it just says "no music." I can't transfer more music or play any songs on the ipod (since it doesnt detect any files) until I restore.
So far, after many transfer attempts with iTunes and the 3rd party program mediamonkey (which also used to work just fine with the ipod), I haven;t been able to get around the problem even once. Right now I'm stuck carefully uploading my music so I don;t hit the transfer limit and have to start all over again. Does anyone know of this problem and how to fix it? -
Loading music onto smartwatch 3
Hi
Has anyone figured out how to load music onto the sw3 4gb internal memory. i have try plugging it into my pc,but it dosnt show up.
Take care
StuartI had to add music into play music on the Web, download it to the phone from play music, then it automatically downloads to the sw3 when the download to android wear box is ticked. It kept stopping for me at first, I'm assuming as the battery was below 50% but after a quick charge it downloaded without issue.
