Anyone upgraded their gx60 hitman edition?

Well I have had my gx60 hitman edition for a couple of months now and I love it MSI has a customer for life here. I also had a MSI gx630 before this which i hold a over clock world record with I got it to 2.65 GHz on air. but this brings me to my point has anyone upgraded their gx60. the single channel ram is killing me I think the system would be much more responsive in dual channel mode. also I plan on putting a ssd in for a boot drive and to put my more demanding games on. but I was just wondering before I void the warranty if any one has already upgraded and what kind of performance gains did you get? Also is there anyway to over clock the 5750m I can't find a way? P.S. did everyone get a free mouse because I didn't :(

Dual-channel will squeeze some more juice from the CPU...Low latency RAM would also squeeze a little bit more...but the improvements will not be so much until you suddenly get 40-50 fps from 20fps...
To put things to perspective, a10-5750m is weaker than ivy bridge i5, and about 3x slower than haswell i7...It is the compromise that one has to make when picking GX60...i7+mid range GPU or AMD + high end GPU...
it is not that GX60 is not compatible with RTS and MMO..it is just so happen that RTS and MMO demand much more CPU power than say first person shooter...a lot of cpu power is needed to render the units and environment

Ok first off i love my new laptop had it for about 3 months or so. But couple of things bug me one the single channel ram (its like they are saying PLEASE VOID MY WARRANTY) So im gonna have to open it up and at least put another 8gb stick of ram in it But i also want to Put a ssd in it. Ive been reading on here and want to know about this super raid can i just buy a say 128gb ssd or rob the one out of my desktop and get the drivers and get super raid?? I have never ran raid in a system before so im lost there is it just software or do you have to have the hardware to do it?
Ok also do any modded bios exist or does anyone know how to overclock the APU/CPU its the AMD-A10-5750m. Im sure this rig can hit 3.8ghz or higher on a overclock. My last msi gaming laptop a gx630 i got to 2.649ghz and hold a world record for the highest overclock on air with it for a AMD ql-62. I also got some pretty high clocks on my old laptop a llano A6 3420m up around 2.7ghz up from 1.5ghz. I know this chip can handle more im only hitting around 45-5x C under load. So if anyone knows anyway i can get a little more out of it.
Another questions what is the highest ram frequency you can put in this laptop i read some where 2133mhz. But not sure.

Hi, I think you will need to go to local MSI service site for the upgrade. Furthermore, Super Raid is not only about adding one more SSD but also needs to have a module connected and driver support. So, personally, I don't suggest you do this by your own... hope this helps.

Hello. New to these forums. This is my first post so forgive me if I breach etiquette somehow.
I would like to request a custom BIOS for my GX60. I would like it to be as fully unlocked as possible. I'm thinking along the lines of a BIOS with option for things like overclocking, memory timings, voltages, fan speeds/profiles, etc. like you would get on gaming desktop board. If any of that isn't possible that's fine. Just throwing things out there.
Also, I don't think this laptop has ever had the BIOS or EC Firmware flashed. Would it be better if I updated both before hand?

yes its possible to unlock the bios, what bios options will be there and how they will works do not depend of me
for sure there is no voltage and no fan control that's possible
CPU OCing don't think so either, but there is some CPU config options
some limited memory options [freq. and some other, mem. timings there is no such]
and graphic options and more

MSI GX60 (Hitman Edition) gaming laptop graphics drivers

Hey guys, I'm having a problem finding the proper drivers for my machine. I've checked the AMD site to see if there's a drivers for me, none of them are compatible with switchable graphics. While they work, they bring a few issues as well.
Maybe I'm just not the brightest person, but I don't really know what else to do. I don't want to think I wasted money on this. Because it seems like there isn't much support for it anymore. Can someone help/guide me to the right direction?

You need to install fresh instead upgrade as the Oracle binaires will be different for 32 and 64. Database file conversion, you may rman. I believe, rman have some option to convert different OS bit format.

Has anyone taken their iPad (3rd Generation) Wi-Fi only model to an Apple store and tried to use AppleCare to solve their Wi-Fi issues?
*Start: Problem/Rant*
I had an iPad 2 Wi-Fi only model and I never had an issue with it. When the iPad (3rd Generation) was released, I went ahead and bought it. However, from day one, I never had the wireless strength of my iPad 2.
I'm a college student, live in a dorm, and I am fairly tech savvy. This problem confused me for the longest, as no environmental factors had changed and my iPad 2 would still connect at full bars. I read on some forums that many new iPad 3 users had reported that their new iPad had poorer signal strength in general after running many different diagnostic test. Apparently the radio in the device isn't as good picking up reception as the iPad 2.
After conducting some dB tests of my own, I found this to be true indeed. But I could live with it, as my iPad (3rd Generation) still connected to Wi-Fi for my dorm (as I am close to an access point). However that wasn't the end of my problems. Anytime I watched Hulu, Youtube, or streamed a movie that was at least an hour long, my wireless signal would drop completely and would pause the video to give me a blue pop-up box stating that I had no Internet connection.
I noticed that my wireless icon had gone away, but after about 1 minute it reappeared. The video wouldn't resume, so I had to refresh the page and go back to where it got stuck previously. A minor inconvenience, but still a problem. The first time, I wrote it off as a legitimate Internet problem on my campus's part. However, the same problem occurred again, about an hour later. I quickly went to my computer and tested the connection and I still had Internet. After this point, I setup two wireless devices on the same network and waited for it to occur, and when it did, I was able to conclude that it was my iPad's fault.
In the interest of getting it to work and my own curiosity, I tried all the standard troubleshooting steps such as: Rebooting the iPad, restoring the iPad, connecting to various encryption types such as my campus WPA and WEP network types. I even got a wireless router with a direct Internet connection, turned off the encryption and tested this on different channels and even g/n networks. I still get one to two minute periodic wireless network drops.
I've had this iPad 3 since launch and aside from the Wi-Fi thing, it has been great, but it has finally gotten to me. The other day, I was running low on time and was uploading my professor's notes to Dropbox that I had recorded on my iPad when the signal gave out for it's regular wireless fail and it ruined a presentation. Yeah, first world problems, but when I paid so much for this and have invested so much of my own time to fix something that should of worked in the first place, it is kind of infuriating.

I am going to an Apple store tomorrow and using my AppleCare warranty while telling them my problem and hope that they can fix it. However I am worried that since it appears to be a hardware issue, that they won't be able to fix it. Also my iPad 3 has no screen protector and even though it is used, it is in perfect condition (I used a case for the exterior). I don't want a refurbished model which may have minor scratches (on a retina screen this would drive me insane). I am OCD about keeping my expensive stuff safe and scratch free. I know that I should of brought it in the moment I noticed the issue, but I was secretly hoping that it was just a bad firmware/software issue that would of been resolved with iOS 6.0 (obviously it wasn't) and my store doesn't accept returns on any Apple Products (Barnes & Noble) even if you open it in front of them, however they do offer AppleCare which is what I am hoping can fix it. I'm still within my year warranty, have the original receipt and box.
Does anyone have any experience with a similar issue or a wi-fi issue at all with the iPad (3rd Generation) and using AppleCare? I've read horror stories about employees doing terrible things and is it safe to not restore my iPad and just hand it over to them? I know this is just me being lazy, but is it alright for me not to delete/restore my iPad before handing it over to them? Like I don't have to worry about them posting on twitter or checking my email? After two semesters, it is kind of a hassle to put everything back on there, anyone have any bad experience just handing it over?
Lastly, is there anything I should do, before handing it over to them? Like taking pictures of what it looked like, before they handled it? Is there a way to register with Apple the MAC address of the iPad so they know that I am the owner? (well, I guess my email should be associated with that).
I know it is a long read, any questions answered would be appreciated (it doesn't have to be all), and if people want, I'll update on my experience with AppleCare regarding my issue and if it gets resolved.

I've seen a few posts from users that had wifi problems getting a replacement iPad.
A refurb iPad has a new screen, battery and back plus warranty.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Well, in his defense, his parents bought him the player so I guess we can't blame him. Though the 6 GB versions were available in November so I guess they really did get 'nervous' about Christmas and like to get their shopping done early! Kudo's to you for trying to remain with the Creative line but for what you're looking for it's obviously not the player for you. Creative seems to be fine-tuning their line for the audio crowd. I'm into mp3 players for the audio. Sure, the ability to watch video's and look at pictures on a decent screen is a plus but for me at least, it's all about the music. And with music, 6 GB is more than enough. Heck, 8 GB would have been more than enough for me. I'm a subscriber to Napster-to-go, so I don't feel the need to carry 00 plus GB of stuff on my portable player. I honestly don't understand the desire to watch movies or TV shows on tiny little screens. But you're also talking to a guy who doesn't watch television. What a complete waste of time and brain cells. Probably the **competitor products we can't discuss here** or one of those players would better suit your needs. Companies are definately picking their niche markets carefully and Creative's decision to not offer hard dri've players any more seems to definately be saying bye-bye to that market. I can't say I blame them. Hard dri'ves eventually give up the ghost and are quite delicate for people on the go. Good ridance, I say. Let Apple, Zune and all the others cater to the Z generation's need to be spoonfed their video/TV addictions anywhere and everywhere. I'll pass. It's one thing to be able to enjoy some music on the go and enhance an otherwise dull work day or dri've. But movies/TV shows at work, school, or wherever? Please. Cut the cord! Just my $.02 - YMMV! Did anyone get their Melissa Etheridge pre-order yet?

This is very frustrating. I keep checking for purchases and nothing. No email either. It's 11:30 am PST and I could have gotten it at Best Buy by now. Did anyone get theirs yet? This is the second week in a row that the pre-orders are very late. Used to be I'd get the email the night before and be listening to my pre-ordered albums way ahead of their general release.
So I just got an email from iTunes support asking me to send them my billing address so they can "test" my account.

Anyone gotten their Aperture 2.0 serial number yet?

I ordered it this morning but still haven't gotten it yet. They seemed a little confused about what I was asking about when I tried to call Apple. Has anyone gotten their serial number yet?
(So far the upgrade looks good, just waiting to import the whole library and get started)

Anyone upgraded to 3.1 without issues?

Has anyone upgraded to iTunes 9.0 and upgraded their phone to 3.1 without any issues? I've downloaded and installed iTunes 9.0 and I've downloaded but NOT installed 3.1 for my phone.

I just got done updating both itunes 9 and iphone 3.1. After reading many of the problems on this board I had to build up enough courage to attempt an upgrade, as I didn’t want to become another member of the bricked phone club. I decided to document the process just it case I needed to call Apple support later.
Computer:
Imac 20” late 2007
1GB memory upgraded to 4GB (myself)
Time Machine 1TB MY BOOK hard drive (left connected with all software updates)
Linksys WRT160N wireless router
NO 3rd party Apps installed
MS OFFICE 2004
ALL updates have been through “Software Update” OS 10.? through 10.5.8
itunes 8.2.1
iphone 16GB 3G 3.0.1
So here is my upgrade history timeline.
I logged on to my computer and clicked on to Software Updates and got:
itunes 9 > 85.5mg
Quicktime 7 > 59.34mg
Security update 2009-005….. > 93mb
11:39 Hawaii Time 9/10/09 I clicked on update.
11:39 – 11:42 itunes 9 downloaded
11:42 – 11:44 Quicktime 7 downloaded
11:44 – 11:46 Security update downloaded
Instructed to restart, then the computer restarted and installed updates.
11:52 – 12:15 I repaired permissions then opened itunes 9 watched a few of the videos of the new features, then backed up my iphone before upgrading to 3.1.
Leaving the iphone connected I clicked on update in itunes.
12:16 – 12:22 downloaded 3.1.1
12:23 Preparing software update.
12:23 the Apple logo appeared on the iphone.
12:24 the update bar on the iphone came up and started updating.
12:27 Verifying updated iphone software.
12:28 – 12:32 updating iphone firmware.
12:32 the itunes screen appeared.
12:33 itunes synced and backed up iphone
12:35 after clicking info in itunes 3.1 displayed for my iphone.
The whole process took about an hour and I have no problems to report.
