Anyone Use the Canon Vixia HF10 With iMovie?

Settled on this one after considering a Sony HDD model.
Anyone have a view?

I don't own a camcorder, but I've read that iMovie 6 requires a camcorder with a firewire connection; yours apparently has USB? So that could be part of the problem; hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be able to address the question of the SDHC cards this camcorder uses. You may be able to get the files off the cards onto your desktop and then go from there. I own a Canon digital camera and have no problems getting the movie files on to the desktop and drag and drop them into iMovie.

  • Is anyone using the novation impulse keyboard with Logic pro x?

is anyone using the novation impulse keyboard with Logic pro x?
I currently have an M-Audio Axium controller but I cannot map any of the controllers.
I need to buy a 25 key controller anyway so I was hoping to get one that works well with Logic Pro X

I have the Logitech S530 keyboard and mouse. I had no problems with it while I was using it with 2 PowerMac G5 and one Dell XPS, but when I got the MacPro I found that it doesn't work with MacPro and a KVM switch. Logitech says their keyboard and mice are NOT made to work with KVM switches, but I didn't find that until I started using it with the Mac Pro.
The other small con is that the mouse is made for right handed people. On the other hand, I love the looks and feel of the keyboard and all the keys. It also will do the boot up holding down the Option key for choosing your startup drive and holding down the Shift key for Safe Mode, which the Kensington keyboard will not do.

  • Canon HV20. Anyone using one? Any problems with iMovie HD?

So as a follow up to my other post about the Sony, has anyone been using Canon's HV20 with iMovie hd? If I can't get the older Sony to run with iMovie, I'd probably check this out over the Sony HD model, given all the reviews I've read. I really would like an external mic ability, in case I want to use a lavaliere mic for an interview. It appears that the Sony will not allow me to use one. I assume that I can easily plug this model into a MacBook and run it from iMovie, as well as import and edit clips.
    Thoughts?

There is a box in the top right corner of this discussion group labeled "Search Discussions". Just type HV20 in there. There have been a couple of threads lately on the HV20.

  • Has Anybody Used the Canon HF R10 with FCE 4?

Has anybody out there had success with using the Canon HF R10 in FCE 4?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
    Jim

I just confirmed it is a bug in Visual Studio 2013.  Using Visual Studio 2010 (VS10) I have no problems creating a database.  The workaround in VS 2013 is to create a database in VS10, store it on localhost, import it into your Solution using
SQL Server Explorer in Visual Studio 2013, then you can create an Entity Data (ADO.NET / EF) that connects to the database.  But even this step is a bit of a problem, in that you must first create an empty Entity Data, then populate it by connecting to
an existing database, which would be the database you imported from VS10.  If you try and connect the Entity Data directly to the database using the Entity Data Model Wizard, nothing seems to happen.  So first create an Entity Data model (empty),
then connect it to the database you have created with a New Connection using the built in Visual Studio 2013 SQL Server manager.

  • Anyone use the Panasonic DMC-ZS7 with iPhoto?

I'm thinking of getting the Panasonic DMC-ZS7 camera, which has a built-in GPS. Out of the new compact cameras with built-in GPS, this seems to have the best built-in GPS support. Before I get it, I just want to confirm that the GPS data it writes to the EXIF header can be used by iPhoto correctly. I use iPhoto '09 (8.1.2).
Has anyone used the ZS7 with iPhoto?

I recently turned the GPS function on. I am unsure if GPS is the problem, but the spinning busy next to the "Places" menu item certainly points that direction.
I would actually argue the opposite, that the spinning busy means that iPhoto can read the GPS data correctly. The fact that it is trying to determine places would indicate that it sees GPS data. More likely the spinning busy is due to something after getting the GPS data like trying to look up actual place info online to get names or downloading maps or something of that sort.

  • Anyone using a Canon ZR 60 with iChat 3.1.1 ?

My Canon Mini DV (ZR 60) works fine with iMovie, but it is not working with iChat (3.1.1).
I'm trying to narrow down the problem:
    • is it the camcorder?
    • is it iChat 3.1.1?
    • is it the operator : ) ?
Any help is much appreciated. I'd hate to buy the iSight if DV camcorders are suppose to work with iChat.

    Hi,
This DV Cam is supposed to work in iChat. http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/camcorders.html
As iMovie can "see" TV signals, Mpeg output and DV output to name some, it may be the Camera needs it's output changed.
Some DV camcorders find this Add-on helpful http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/ Comes as a trial and is very inexspensive.

  • Has anyone used the Seagate wireless plus with an iPad?

I would like to use this wireless external drive to store videos and then stream them to my iPad.  Has anyone used this drive and if so how do you like it?

    Hi everyone,
I am frustruated with the Seagate Wireless Plus. I think most of you just download movies in it and then watch it on your tablet. I thought this can be my external storage for everything including the content of my iPad. Not so easy!!! I can't see anything from the content of my iPad when I connect it wirelessly to Seagate. I wrote to Seagate and apparently there is another thing called WebDav in order to do it. I think Windows are winning here how easy it is to connect devices. Simply, I can see the demo stuff from the Seagate on my iPad but nothing the other way, no pictures, no music, no videos stored on my iPad can be seen from the Seagate. If there is somebody who can explain to me how to do it before I will return the Seagate to the retailer please do it in a way normal people understand. Don't say "I think" as most of people in these forums do, please say only "I know" and lead me step by step what to do. I have the latest iPad mini with iOS7, 32GB WiFi & Cellular with Retina display. I've already updated the Seagate OS to 2.2.0.005 exactly as they advise by installing the 2.1.0.014 prior to that.
Please forgive me for the tone but those 10 hours I spent so far without any results are too valuable to me.
    Thanks in advance. Danny.

  • Has anyone used the 3M Ergonomic Mouse with Logic?

    I'm particularly interested in whether:
    (a) the *scroll function* works with Logic, and
    (b) does the simple, non-programmable 3-button design hinder the functionality of Logic?

I am a big fan of mice with many options, and while I have never used a blue tooth mouse before, I do have a Logitech MX1000 mouse that I use for my Powerbook, and I love it. I originally used it for my PC, but when I picked up the new laptop, I just setup the PC with the older MX700 which I also love, and used the laser mouse on the laptop. Either way, I am sure anything with more than one button or the really ridiculous Mighty Mouse from APPLE will be better than a trackpad for any serious use.

  • Has anyone used the EMC storage intergration with VNX?

Based on the encougagement that someone got NaviAgent to work, I wanted to follow up on something else.
We have an EMC VNX 5500 on SAN with HP 580 running OVM 3.0.3. I installed Oracle Storage Connect Integration Module. It looks like it needs an EMC SMI-S provider to make it work right (or so I guess). Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Has anyone ever installed the SMI-S on the linux control station?
By the way, if you ask EMC, they only support it under a "Letter of Support" agreement, which to me feels like "we'll complile it, but you're on your own if you use it."

    G'day TechTamer,
I recently setup OVM3.0.3 on a VNX5300 (iSCSI block) without NaviAgent or Oracle Storage Connect Intergration module.
I'd be interest to know if you do actually get the Storage Connect Module working.
    Please keep us updated.
    Regards,
    Alex.

  • Anyone using the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with Logic?

I am looking to replace my Tascam US-122 with something of similar size/inputs. I've watched some videos and seen some reviews about the Scarlett 2i2, but I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience using it with Logic. I am wanting to make sure it will run with the 64-bit version of Logic that I am running on Lion. Currently to get my US-122 to work, i have to boot the computer in 32-bit mode or else my computer does not read the interface. I have also heard good things about the inputs in the Scarlett 2i2, and about Focusrite preamps in general, but I have never used them before. At this point, anything will be an upgrade from the Tascam unit that is starting to go faulty on me. This Focusrite unit seems like it could be exactly what I am looking for, I am just looking to see what others have to say about using it with their setups.

    Hi Miss Clandestine,
The Scarlett 2i2 will work just fine with the 64-bit version of Logic in Mac OS X Lion.
Here's a little example of what the preamps sound like: http://youtu.be/5sSBwkzdAU4 (yes, it was actually recorded through a 2i2 )
Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help out!
    Best Regards,

  • Anyone using the Canon MV850i from the UK Apple store for iChat AV?

Just want to check it really does work with iChat and iMovie before purchase.
    Thanks
    Paul.
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hi Paul
It is not in the list http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/camcorders.html BUT read under the tabs and before the list.
Also The list will not load for me properly. It would normally have a date of Modification on the bottom.
From memory that was Jan 2005 - so newer cams will not be in the list anyway.

  • Has anyone used the AIP-RCA cable with their itouch?

Its supposedly completely compatible with the itouch/iphone, and is basically an rca to dock, with charging feature. I was wondering if anyone has hooked this up to their car? And is it worth it?

order my new MP with the 8800 card day after announced (over 4 weeks ago), still waiting.

  • I don't understand how to use the System Font Panel with iMovie.

I need an explanation of how the System Font Panel works. I guess there's a way to get some of those fonts to the iMovie Font Panel, but I can't see how.
    Thank you.

I have had good success with the System Font Panel. Now all of a sudden, I only get part of it. Any suggestions on how to restore the entire panel? There are no change size options in the corners like in some dialog boxes. I was going to paste what I have here, but for some reason, paste is not available.

  • Has anyone used the new 5K imac with AE CC and is it a big improvment speed wise or not?

I am thinking about getting the 5K imac with the i7 4.4 GHz quad-core and AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5, but my big concern is that the video card is not Nvidia and does not use cuda core.
I currently have a late 2012 imac with the 3.4 Intel Core i7 and a Nvidia GeFroce GTX 680MX 2048 MB and sometimes it is very slow when working with a lot of effects or layers.
    1. If you have any experience with the 5K imac, please let me know how you like it?
    2. Was Apple going to the AMD video card a good or bad thing?
    3. Do you think I would benefit any speed gain with the new 5K imac and by what percentage.

The AMD video card is not a good hardware selection with the current media content creation software. Open CL is still lagging behind CUDA in performance and the CPU's did not change with the new Imac. So basically it's a new Imac with a updated video card and 5K screen. Not something I would suggest for Adobe if you already have an Nvidia solution.

  • Using the Panasonic HDC SD90 with iMovie '11

I just got the Panasonic HDC SD90 and I pluged it into my computer and opened iMovie, and all I ot were the movies I already shoot. I want to be able to record dirctly to the hard drive of my mac book pro. Is this possible? Thanks for any help

This is not possible. Imovie imports from this camera, but not in real time. It will be faster or slower than real time based on your computer.
    It goes like this...
Camera records to highly compressed AVCHD format.
iMovie imports AVCHD and converts to Apple Intermediate Codec format.
You can now edit on iMovie.
You can share your movie in a compressed format like H.264.
For live recording, use a webcam or a DV firewire camera. Both these options are relatively low resolution.
