Anyone used the Blue Tooth iPhone combo dock yet..Questions Charging!
I like to charge my phone from the AC/USB adapter every night with the phone turned off. The combo dock (and the travel cord) has a wierd issue when you want to use it to charge both the headset and the phone. If you turn the phone off in the dock (not sleep) the headset won't charge. If you take the phone out of the dock it will charge. If you put only the headset in the dock it will charge. The only way I can charge both at once with the phone off the way i prefer is to use the dock or travel cable for for the headset and another AC/USB adapter to charge the phone when it's off, defeating the whole purpose of the dock if you want a completely full charge, plus you don't get the days usage because the phone is never off.
With the phone in sleep mode in the dock, not off, I did not get a full charge on the green battery icon , but the plug icon indicated full charge. Charging the phone when it's off on the AC/USB adapter before I got my BT headset, I always got the full green battery and the glow, and based upon today's usage, I shut it off early this morning and turned it back on to get this, thus far (5 hrs 13 mins usage, 7 hours 10 minutes standby BT on,lot's of email, ipod and calls and I have a little over half battery left), battery life (somewhat subjective), didn't appear to be as good as it was charging from the wall when it's off.
Apple tech support said that this was "probably" normal behavior.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

i charge my iPhone with it on all the time. when i charge it overnight i always cycle it in the morning. the "green glow" is a user interface glitch(which has been discussed ALLOT here) as long as the plug shows it is fully charged. if my iPhone doesn't show the the "green glow" i cycle it in the morning and that usually does it for me. my iPhone went for almost 48 hours on a charge before asking me to please charge it; this is with moderate to medium calling, internet and ipod. another thing is that when you use your iphone with you headset and the bluetooth is on it is using extra battery because they only have an on and off function and they don't have where you can set it to be discoverable so it is constantly searching and searching for bluetooth devices. which will i have not noticed to be a real drain on the battery but for someone that is say subjected to allot of bluetooth devices in an office building perhaps that might play a role in sucking down more power. for me i notice that it is like 5-10 min of talk time less that with bluetooth on. but as i charge overnight i didn't notice it being much if any lower at night with average use. i don't have the bluetooth combo dock but he battery should fully charge in 4 hours and the average person sleeps more than 8 i would imagine that you are trying to charge 2 things off the same charger but the headset is 1 hour to charge if i remember so what at the most of like 6 hours for both to full charge? i don't know if this helps just some useful information. we have 3 iPhone's in the house and they all have around the same battery life BTW.

I need to know how to access and use the Blue Tooth device that comes with the Thinkpad W520
Forgive me for being a techo illiterate. But I know that this thing supports Blue Tooth. And one "problem" with it is although it has a DVD and sound card, music and movies have very lousy audibility. Is there something I can do about that? I can barely hear anything on a movie unless I plug in head phones to the computer. But that leaves me stuck in my seat. I'd like to get cordless headsets. And I'm ready to purchase the Plantronics BackBeat 903+ Wireless Stereo Headphones - Mic, Rich Audio, Bass-boost, Voice Alerts, OpenMic, 3-way Earpiece. And have heard that it's compatable with a pc that has Bluetooth capabilities. but could someone get back to me with exactly how I access and use the Blue Tooth device?
I was searching for how to setup the 903+ and my W520 and came to this thread.
1. The OP was asking about audio and there are updated audio drivers / tweaks to get it louder / install different drivers.
but if you are going to go BT headset....
2. What I did for the 903+
Uninstalled the currently installed ThinkPad Bluetooth program. ( I forget the exact name, came stock and was out of date).
Required reboot.
Activated the Bluetooth with FN + F5 menu.
Downloaded the updated Bluetooth driver from lenovo (search lenovo driver matrix).
Ran the updated Bluetooth driver install.
Rebooted for good measure.
Double-clicked the Bluetooth Tray icon.
Clicked Add A Device.
Turned off my 903+ and continued to hold down the power to enable pairing mode.
Showed up in devices and added it.
Worked for audio. There are probably additional options for enabling the mic.
Hope that helps whoever might find this thread. -
After using the blue tooth i cant use the head phone jack
nothing i plug into the headphone jack will play.
I don't think that's an option without jailbreaking the phone, which you definitely don't want to do. You'd need to use AirPrint, and I'm not sure if your printer is compatible. Here's a list of HP printer's that are. Hope this helps a little.

How do I make siri use the mic on the iPhone and not the blue tooth mic?
When I get in my car, the blue tooth connects to the built-in car kit. I want to use the car kit for phone calls, but I want to use the iPHone mic for Siri. Siri always gets it wrong when it uses the car mic. Is this possible?

Is there a way to pair more then one set wireless head phones to either a iphone or ipad with the blue tooth?
Yes. I have two different Bluetooth headsets and they are both paired to my iPhone so I can use either one but only one can be used at any one time.
To pair the second one, simply repeat the pairing process that you used for the first one. -
My apple keyboard will not pair with my iPad2. It worked at one time. The keyboard does function with my iPhone. Does this possibly mean that the Blue Tooth is not functioning in my iPad? Is there a way to check? My software is up-to-date on my iPad.
Keyboards Can only be paired with one device at the time so if it's paired with another device IN range it Will not pair with the ipad

This is my first time using this chat if I get it wrong count it to my head and not my heart.
When I am using my blue tooth, when my phone rings I have to physically take it off the phone and push it to my blue tooth. How can i get it to do it automatically?Answer the call using the bluetooth device instead of swiping to answer on the phone. If you swipe to answer on the phone, it assumes you intend to use the phone instead of the bluetooth headset.

Out of the blue my iPhone 4S home button and notification centre has stopped working.
Out of the blue my iPhone 4S home button and notification centre has stopped working. I used the phone and switched it off. The next time I turned it on they weren’t working. The phone wasn’t dropped on banged around. – Any Ideas, Anyone??
Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW. Have ALL of these steps been tried?
If you've been through ALL these steps and still have problems, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation. -
Ios 4.2 issues - anyone tested the Blue Snowball mic yet?
I've been using a Blue Snowball mic for recording through the camera connection, which has worked fine with ios 3.2.2.
Having read about the power loss apparently inherent in ios 4.2, I'm hesitant to upgrade; I have read of problems with one of Blue's other USB mic's a more advanced model that may need more power but nothing yet regarding the Snowball.
I hate being the "guinea pig" - has anyone tried the Blue Snowball with ios 4.2? IF it works I'll upgrade as that's my only current USB use other than a HD Camcorder; the fact that 4.2 apparently works with the UNO MIDI interface is very attractive, but not at the expense of the Snowball mic.
Thanks -How dó you connect Blue snowball to iPhone?

Is anyone using the Calendar Server to send external invites?
Is anyone using the Calendar Server to send external invites?
We have a Mountain Lion server running DNS, Open Directory, File Sharing and VPN. We have recently stood up the Calendar server and it is working very well. Internal invites work fine and are instantaneous to computer, iPhone, iPad. We have the ports working so that calendar items created outside the network work fine as well. Only problem is we cannot invite anyone with an external e-mail address. Each time we do the Calendar Error Log populates with:
2013-04-15 13:11:03-0500 [-] [mailgateway] 2013-04-15 13:11:03-0500 [Uninitialized] SMTP Client retrying server. Retry: 5

We have set up an internal e-mail address. I have confined that it works fine. I have tried more than one internal account. I have also verified the settings through the command line by typing "sudo serveradmin settings calendar" The iMIP sending and receiving information is correct. There is no authentication type setting listed in the command line output even though there's a place to choose it in the Enable invitations by email - Edit button on the third screen. No matter what I choose it goes back to "login" and still doesn't work.
The command line settings mention a port number 62310 as being the MailGatewayPort but opening that port on the network's firewall makes no difference. As I said external set up works fine from Mac/iPhone/iPad and push notification works fine as well.
Is anyone using this functionality?I'm sorry. I forgot to add Mail to the list of services. I AM using mail on that server. Here's the iMIP portion of my settings output from Terminal.
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Sending:Server = "boardwalkserver.kuhnwitt.com"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Sending:UseSSL = yes
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Sending:Username = "calendarserver"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Sending:Address = "[email protected]"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Sending:Password = "password"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Sending:Port = 465
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Enabled = yes
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:MailGatewayPort = 62310
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Receiving:Server = "boardwalkserver.kuhnwitt.com"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Receiving:UseSSL = yes
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Receiving:Username = "calendarserver"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Receiving:PollingSeconds = 30
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Receiving:Type = "imap"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Receiving:Password = "password"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:Receiving:Port = 993
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:AddressPatterns:_array_index:0 = "mailto:.*"
calendar:Scheduling:iMIP:MailGatewayServer = "localhost"
So Add mail to the services being used. Since Calendar is running on the mail server one would assume that it could communicate with it fairly easily. -
Has anyone used the 3M Ergonomic Mouse with Logic?
I'm particularly interested in whether:
(a) the *scroll function* works with Logic, and
(b) does the simple, non-programmable 3-button design hinder the functionality of Logic?I am a big fan of mice with many options, and while I have never used a blue tooth mouse before, I do have a Logitech MX1000 mouse that I use for my Powerbook, and I love it. I originally used it for my PC, but when I picked up the new laptop, I just setup the PC with the older MX700 which I also love, and used the laser mouse on the laptop. Either way, I am sure anything with more than one button or the really ridiculous Mighty Mouse from APPLE will be better than a trackpad for any serious use.

How do I change the sound that is played when you I use the Find my IPhone feature to make it alot louder? The current sound is very faint, difficult to find as I am hard of hearing.
Hi,
Tap the iPod icon in the Dock. Then tap the Airplay icon just to the right of the volume slider.
Make sure the iPad speakers are selected, not your wireless.

Why would I want to use the mail icon on my dock?
Hi all,
As I'm endeavoring to further my knowledge on the Mac, I'm curious as to know if I'm losing out on not using the mail icon on my dock.
Any particular reason I should use it? I currently use yahoo and gmail. I think they're considered IMAP technology and I can access it anywhere any anyhow as long as I have access to the web. I also use my iphone to access it.
So... why would I want to use the mail icon on my dock? Are the reasons going to be for the characteristics for POP? I.E, can off load mail to my Mac and read later without having live access to web?
BTW, if I did want to setup mail on the dock. What is the incoming and outgoing mail server for yahoo? Sorry, could locate that info. in yahoo mail.
Thanks in advance.I think you are asking why you should use the Mail application versus using "web mail" through a web browser, and not just about the Mail icon on the Dock, is that correct?
You should use whatever is more convenient.
Mail is a standalone application designed for email access, so it is more responsive and has more features. Web-based apps are getting much better, but you can still tell you are in a web browser. You can work off-line, even if you use an IMAP service (such as MobileMe). You can save emails locally, even if most emails are on the server, and if it's POP, all your messages are downloaded to a local database (that may or may not be an advantage to you).
Mail is integrated with Address Book and iCal (and other Apple apps). You can use Time Machine to recover individual deleted emails, just like you would recover deleted files or folders (using the +flying through space+ interface).
