Anyone using a Behringer BCF2000 w/ Logic Express??

I'd sure like to get my hands on a decent control unit and the Behringer BCF2000 fits the bill and the budget. I was curious if anyone here is using this unit and could tell me how easy it is to setup in Logic.
Thanks,
Brad

I use the BCF2000 with Logic Express, and it works perfectly. Fortunately, since the firmware update (available on the Behringer homepage), the BCF2000 supports emulation of Logic Control, meaning you get to save yourself a lot of hassle assigning the individual knobs. Personally, I'd recommend it, since it seems to be the only control surface that offers nice features for reasonable pricing. My only problem is that the faders aren't touch-sensitive, meaning you sometimes have to fight with them if you've got automation data. Apart from that, great piece of equipment to have.
Hope that helps,
IKEA

  • Using a Behringer Mixer w/ Logic

Ok, here's the deal. The only experience I've had with digital audio is Garageband, which I've used for over a year, and have had great results with, but I decided I wanted to try out something better, so I went for Logic Express, naturally. I have a Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Audio Mixer. I know it is in working condition because when I used it in Garageband, it worked like a charm. No setting up, nothing. Just plug it in and I'm done.
However, when I have the exact same setup in Logic, the program won't even acknowledge the fact that any sound is being produced at all. I have the mixer hooked up via a 1/4 cable connected to a Monster cable adaptor, which is then plugged into my Powerbook's audio-in port. If anyone can help me get this mixer set up without using too much jargon I'm unfamiliar with, that would be great.

Ok, as it says that you need to do what I said first.
Lets do this from the start, open logic if you haven't modified the autoload song lets just use that.
Find yourself an "Audio" track, it'll say Audio 1(or 2 etc) on it. Click on it.
In the bottom left of the screen you'll see a fader for this channel with a couple of boxes above the fader. These tell you where the signal is being "routed" to and from. The top one is the input, where the sound is coming from, an the one below is the output telling you where it's being played out of.
So set the input on the channel to Input 1. (if you can't see these boxes and the fader or "The Channel Strip" press 2 and you'll see the entire mixer) Then on that channel press the "rec" button right at the bottom of the channel strip.
This now means that channel and that channel only are ready to record with. If you are still not getting a level on the meter in logic, or sound coming through you probably need to look at the setup.
Go to the logic preference for Audio. Click on "Drivers" and make sure it's all set to your internal sound module, and everything seems to be ON, if you want to be able to hear the sound of your bass through the computer itself make sure the "Software Monitoring" check box is lit.
Logic takes a little bit more setting up to get it to do what you want but thats because it's capable of so much, you have to tell it what one of it's many talents to use. Where as garageband is far simpler.
If this doesn't help then you must be way off. Try taking a look at the thread i wrote called "Basic Tips for New Users" it details everything I just said above and more.

  • Anyone using Tascam DM-3200 with Logic

Anyone using the Tascam DM-3200 with Logic? Sure seems like an easy solution combination of converters and DAW control, plus onboard effects.

    Hey Joseph,
I have this combination. I like it so far. I'm not really a "mixer" person but I am resolute in learning how to use this thing in depth!
Anyways, as far as controlling Logic, I got it working pretty easily. It seems that the faders don't seem as "sensitive" as my Logic Control (I think I mean resolution, perhaps?). I also have not played with the Tascam enough to know what other features are mapped out besides just level faders. It is very easy to switch between a fader layer and the Mackie control layer: just one button press. One thing though is if I have logic set to auto-sync in, and play, it will receive some timecode from somewhere and then stop after 2 bars. Don't know why this is, and it means I'll have to disable the Tascam's midi if I want to sync Logic to, say, Protools.
I connect my old 828 via Adat to Tascam and it sounds so much better than the Analog ins to the Tascam, so I'm happy about that. I have also the 8 Analog input card so I have a total of 24 Analog Ins which is nice too.
If you have any specific questions, I'll try to asnwer them, but so far, i like the combination a lot. My one complaint - they put the Control Room volume way up at the top of the mixer. My keyboard (Roland XV88) protrudes a bit from the front of the mixer, so i can see myself getting back spasms if I reach that volume control a lot!! I guess I'm shorter than the average user! Anyways, the mixer sounds good enogh to my ears.
    Cheers
    Ken
PS The manuals for the mixer are at Tascam's website. You can also take a peek at them to get a sense how things are setup.

  • Can I use Mainstage software instruments in Logic Express 9?

I would like to add more software (MIDI) instruments to Logic Express 9. I understand Mainstage comes with what used to be called Jam Packs. Can I use those Mainstage software instruments in Logic Express 9? If not, where do i find additional software instruments?

    All JamPacks: yes, no problem.
Actual instruments, effects, like Space Designer: no, they are part of the application code (MainStage or Logic Pro)

  • Use exterior vst instruments in Logic Express 9

From my former PC I installed Cubase Essential5 onto my new iMac and I purchased Logic Express 9 as well. I am trying to find out wether I can use the HALionOne and Synth Prologue vst instruments in Logic Express and how I go about it. I did install a demo version of Musiclab's Realguitar and after checking the Audio Units Manager, installment I was able to open this under Exterior instruments. Does anybody have suggestions?
    evert

    Hi
Logic only supports Audio Unit plugins, not VST (or any other type). Install the correct type and you should be good to go.

  • Can I use LogicPro .plist file with Logic Express?

I've set up a whole bunch of nice keystrokes in my Logic Pro.  I want to give them to a buddy who is only in Logic Express (which may not be possible I know).  These took me hours originally to set up ... and when I go to his Logic Express the keystroke assign window seems to be different from the time when I originally created the keystrokes (I've been transferring the .plist file through the last two versions of Logic).  So it would take me a lot of effort to reassign the keys in his Express.  Is there any way the preferences can be transfered from the Logic Pro to the Logic Express?
    All ears,
    Ben

    Hi
You can export keycommands from within the Keycommand window (under the Options Menu in the KC window).
You can then import them into Express on the other Mac.

  • Anyone using Guitar Rig 2 in Logic?

I'm having trouble getting GR 2 to work in logic. It works fine as a stand alone but does not work in logic! If anyone can advise me on what I might do to rectify this problem I could sure use it. It's holding up a studio project and I'm not getting much help from Native Instruments support.

Hmmm, I dunno-the concensus in the NI GR forum is the
same? Is it just the driver that's bad or did the
    patch fix it?
    Hi Justin,
May be you could give me a blow by blow discription of how to make this piece of S**t work. I am still getting no input into logic, I can hear the metronome but no imput from the strat at all.
    Here's what I'm using:
    G5 duel 2 gig processor
    Dididesign 192 digital interface
    Mackie digital console DXB 200
the AU version of guitar rig 2 loaded
    logic version 7.1.1
OPEN AUDIO CHANNEL - load plug-in guitar rig
I have tried..... out of the guitar into pedal board, then out of the pedal board into the Console - NOTHING
Out of the guitar straight into the console - NOTHING
It does work as a stand alone through the console but so does everything else except guitar rig, but not in Logic!
Here's the really wierd part you can hear the metronome when the audio channel is armed and record is going - Still no guitar input at all.
Am I just doing something stupid? is the AU version not working? Do I need to load the VST? and help from you is always Greatly Appreciated, this is killing me time wise.
    Thanks again guys,

  • Behringer bcf2000 and logic 8 problem

My bcf2000 is sending midi notes through Logic causing it to play sounds whenever a button or fader on the bcf2000 is pushed. Has anyone had this problem? Can't figure it out how to get it to stop

after many restarts and power cycling it seemed to correct

  • M-Audio i-Control with Logic 7.2 vs. Behringer BCF2000 with Logic 6

I am just about to set up Logic Pro 6 after using Cubase CE for a while. I have also been investigating control surfaces. I heard from Apple and M-Audio that Logic Pro 7.2 now supports the i-Control control surface. I am debating the benefits of upgrading to 7.2 and getting the i-Control vs sticking with 6 and buying the BCF2000.
What recommendations do you have? Do the layouts of 7.2 and the i-Control enhance each other like Garage Band and the i-control do (I have never used Garage Band). How well do Logic and the BCF2000 integrate?
Thanks for any comments or recommendations.

    Joe,
I've got the BCF2000, and got it for the primary reasons of tactile control via fader. Moterized is a cool feature. I've had it for over a year now and used it w/Logic 6.4.3, and now 7.1.1. Seeing that it lacks the LCD display (like the Logic or Mackie) which shows the parameters of the channel I bought this third pary app called LCXView that displays exactly like the LCD would, but i've since stopped using it because it started getting in the way to have Logic recognize the BCF on launch (once I jumped over to 7). The BCF needs to be booted in LC mode (Logic Control), as mine is by default.
The BCF doesn't have a shuttle control, which I would have liked. Eventually, I'll probably get a Mackie on the used market. Basically, the BCF get's the job done. Apple doesn't mention the unit in the manuals as supported, but by virtue of the fact that the BCF is in Logic Control emulation mode, it is supported.

  • Anyone use the Line6 KB37 with Logic?

I've been planning to get a new interface and was going to go with the Apogee Duet, but then discovered the Line6 KB37. Can anyone here that has it comment on it? How are the mic pres? Is it pretty stable? How is the latency? Feedback appreciated. Thanks....

hi..i've advocated the KB37 many times on this forum, you get a lot of bang for your bucks, the best aspect is that there is ZERO LATENCY!!, that's right, absolutely ZERO, so you can set logics buffer to max and it wont matter, this is because the KB does all the monitoring. The mic pre's however are very average, but for what you pay that's no surprise. You can hear some of my work on www.steveshadforth.com ,all logic and KB37. Good luck with whatever choice you make, keep coming back to the forum!! Steve

  • Is anyone using a Digi 003 with Logic? What is latency like? Thoughts?

    Hey EVeryone
I am looking at a Digi 003 interface for running Logic... we are keen to use an automated desk, instead of the Yamaha n12 currently in use...
The n12 has been BRILLIANT in terms of low-latency monitoring - we usually run it at a buffer of 32 samples and for most scenarios, even with a fair few effects running, that works really well for direct monitoring through Logic.
I'm interested to know what experiences people have had with the Digi 003 in terms of latency...
Another thing I love about the n12 is that I can just monitor straight through it, when I don't need to run any effects in real-time on the channel I'm recording. This is a simple thing that's really handy.
Is there any such option for running a channel straight through the 003 at zero-latency, if required?
Any other feedback, beyond the issue of latency, would also be welcomed!
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Mike
I have a 003R, I loath it. I have had to have it sent back for repair many times to Digidesign. I bought it to retain compatibility with ProTools incase clients brought PT sessions in. Well, since I bought it, I have had zero requests to use PT. It has issues with latency, frequently changing from one recording to another and not recognizing the buffer settings within Logic. The latency issues were the same within PT too, even switching from 44.1 to higher settings like 48Khz made it have latency. I have had enough so I am selling it and switching back to an all Apogee system.
Mattrix is right, shop around, there are way better systems for less money out there. Only get one if you absolutely need ProTools compatibility.
    Sincerely
    Bobbi
ps Another frequent problem is it "drops" from the system and you have to reboot it to use it again...

  • Using kontakt multi instrument in logic express

    hi folks,
i am trying to load several instruments into a multi instrument in kontakt2. the documentation says that it is possible to use this to trigger each instrument from a different midi channel. i seem not being able to figure this out. the book "logic6 power" even mentions that you can assign regions to specific midi channels but it does not explain how.
basically, i would like to be able to switch between pre-loaded sounds within one track instead of having all of them sound like stacked.
    can anybody help?

not quite sure what exactly did the trick, generating the multiinstrument in the environment and cabling it to the audio fader strip thingy in the mixer... but it works now. i guess it was crucial to come to the conclusion that a different midi channel on the masterkeyboard has to be chosen in order to get a different instrument to sound rather than trying to find a way to set the instrument somewhere in the track or in the region.
i guess, simply by talking about it the soution started the dawn on the horizon...
    thanks!

  • Anyone using reason 4.0 with logic?

im using reason 4.0 abby road samples and im getting latency when i try to record tracks. i have a 2.0 processor and 2 gigs of ram. any advice?

I had that problem B4. I was getting huge latency in my mic when trying to do vocals and couldn't figure out why for the life of me. Then EVEN THO I WAS TOLD BY EVERYONE THAT PLUGINS ARE NO LONGER USING CPU WHEN BYPASSED, I did have the PSP Vintage on my Master but IT WAS BYBASSED! after I removed it completely, no more latency! So Maybe one of your hefty plugins is the culprit??

Actually i am not sure i really understand your question because it seems to me that in your subject heading you are asking about " wav " files which are audio files but in your message you refer to playing those files via your midi keyboard which indicates you are trying to play " midi " files and not " audio " files.
If you want to play a audio file:
Create and audio track in a project and the import the "wav" file into that audio track and it should play as an audio file when hit the play button in the transport controls.
Please clarify what type of file you want play using LExpress 9 to give us a better idea as to how to help you.

  • Can Anyone suggest and audio/midi interface for MacBook Logic Express?

Can anyone suggest an audio/midi interface for use with a MacBook and Logic Express? I'm seeing a lot of problems with Tascam devices; does anyone have an interface that actually works well? Two audio inputs and midi i/o would suit my current needs, but more would be fine if it works.
    Thanks!

Any of the Pro-Tool Mboxs will work with Logic Express. Kind of an unadvertised feature. But I have an original M-box with very nice Focusrite Preamps that works like a charm. No midi though.. some of the newer M-boxes have them.
Also, I have a Presonus Firebox and I know they make some smaller interfaces. No problems working with those.
M-audio Makes some great interfaces too. Their Fast Track pro would probably have everything you need for under $200.
