Anyone using a Laserjet All-In-One on an Intel Mac?

I just got an HP Laserjet 2820 all in one unit (scanner, printer, copier) for use with my MacBook Pro. My main reason for going with this model was the automatic document feeder (ADF) that allows me to put a stack of documents in and automatically create a multi-page pdf.
The problem I'm having is this: When I create pdf files, they are coming out too light. The only way to fix this is to scan all the pages of the document one at a time, adjust the contrast setting, and then scan all the pages again.
I also have a Canon Scanner (no ADF though) and it allows me to do a quick preview of a document (for contrast, etc.) and then saves these settings until I do a preview again. The result is that all subsequent pages use the optimized settings for that kind of document (pages of text with some figures) from then on.
The HP 2820 also doesn't seem to have any way to scan only part of an image (ie. a single picture on a full page). Am I missing something here?
I'm wondering if the device is not yet Intel compatible. The HP support department isn't any help.
Help, please?!

Not that swift in the Apple world, I use a calibration puck for my screen and IT8 profiles for devices to calibrate my workflow on Windows PCs. Haven't done that YET on my Apples. What I can tell you is that the help files that show up are usually helpful in explaining how to use the utility. I noticed that when I did calibrate my screen on my iMac core duo, it wanted me to use the 1.8 standard Gamma. All my reference material and training states to use 2.2 and 6500 Kelvin for true calibration. That being said, I would only look at the HP device in the utility, make some changes, and see if it fixes your issues. If it doesn't, I'm sure there is a way to set everything back to default settings. If there isn't, just jot down where you are before making any changes. If you have calibrated your screen, the rest should be easier to adjust. If not, I feel you will be all over the board as far as settings for each device, as you don't have a standard appearance to work from when making adjustments. Good luck!

  • Windows Vista 64 bit and HP 2840 Color LaserJet All-In-One - Workaround

Although HP has not provided a workable solution for a use of a HP 2840 Color LaserJet All-In-One with Windows Vista 64 bit, I did manage to get it to work. The solution is a bit convoluted and may not work for all users but here’s how I did it. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Not sure how other Vista versions may behave.
I tried many different solutions that did not work. Attempting to install many different versions of the HP 2840 software in different compatibility modes ended up rendering my other HP 4385 All-In-One inoperative.  I deleted every piece of HP software and hardware from my system and reinstalling the HP 4385 software. Still couldn’t get my 4385 working again. I finally ended up restoring my system to restore point prior to attempting to install the HP 2840. All this to say that if you’ve made several attempts to get it working you may need to back up and punt with a restore.
Make sure your HP 2840 is NOT connected.
Press the “Scan” button on the 2840 (The control panel on the 2840 should say ‘Waiting on PC”).
Plug the HP 2840 in via a USB cable. A “New hardware” message should pop up on the PC.
Minimize this window. DO NOT MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO INSTALL DRIVERS. Just ignore this message for the moment.
In Windows, go to CONTROL PANEL/SCANNERS AND CAMERAS. Hopefully you’ll see a “HP 2840 LaserJet Scanner”. If not, the rest will probably not work.
Now hit the "Windows Start" button. Select "Programs" or "All Programs" (depending on your setup configuration). Open "Windows Fax Scan". It should connect to the 2840 Scanner. Experiment with the scanner and select flatbed and feeder input  to make sure it functions properly. Once satisfied that the scanner is working properly you can configure the printer.
On the “New Hardware Detected” window that you minimized in step 4, select “Do Not Ask Me Again For This Hardware”.
Connect the 2840 to your network via a CAT cable.
On your PC press the "Windows Start" button and select “Settings and Printers”.
    Select “Add a Printer”.
    Select “Add a Network Printer”.
Windows will scan your network searching for printers. It should find your 2840.
Select “Next” (It is not necessary to let the search complete once your 2840 has been identified).
From the dropdown list, select ‘HP” and “HP Universal Printing PCL 6". It was the last one in the list for me.
    Print a test page
You should now have a HP 2840 network printer and a local 2840 scanner.
O course the drawback is that you can only scan to the PC where the 2840 scanner is attached via the USB cable. You can print from any PC on your network by following steps 9 through 15 on each network PC.
Another little tidbit I ran into; selecting any other driver besides the “HP Universal Printing PCL 6" driver cause my Microsoft Office 2007 to crash any time I selected the "Save As" option. I found some links on the Internet that indicate this is a known problem. It may not affect you but you might want to play it safe.
    Hope this helps someone.

Uninstall the HP software using the uninistaller in the HP folder.
    Restart your PC.
Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • Use of HP All-in-one C6280

    Hey @all
I have a MacBook Air and I want to use my HP All-in-one C6280. I downloaded a software from the HP homepage, but It doesn't work. If someone have a software please help me.
    Thanks!! Stefanie

There doesn't seem to be any software for your OS on the HP site.  It looks like everything you can get for the printer installs through Apple Software Updates (ASU).  All you need to do to get the printer installed can be found in the document below.  Let me know what happens.

  • Anyone using a Yamakasi Catleap 2703 Monitor with a Retina Mac Book Pro?

    Hi,
Anyone using a Yamakasi Catleap 2703 Monitor with a Retina Mac Book Pro?  If so, is it working well and would you do it again?  Is it compatible with the Apple dual DVI cable?
    Thanks,
    Alan

I just got a Yamakasi precision 2703.  I'm using it with a 13" macbook pro (non retina).  I got it working with a thunderbolt / minidisplayport to dual link DVI adapter from monoprice for $~70.  At first I didn't think it was going to work, plugged it in, turned on the display, nothing happened.  I unplugged, plugged the USB cable back in and the monitor came to life.  Working great so far.  I bought mine from green-sum on ebay.  The recommend not using this monitor with apple computers due to overheating issues... I don't see why that would be the case, though.  I've only been running it for a couple days, but so far no issues, and I've been happy with the monitor, no dead pixels, no bleed in the corners.
The monitor stand on the 2703 isn't too bad, a little wobbly but not as bad as the others from what I've read.  The monitor does sit a little low, though.  I have a much sturdier stand coming from monoprice for $20+shipping, which will provide tons of adjustment, both height and rotation.
    Good luck!

  • Scan function no longer available in preferences using HP 7410 All-in-One

I have a Mac Book pro running OS 10.9.5. When I select Printers and Scanners in the preferences my HP 7410 All-in-One no longer shows a "scan" selection on my Mac Book. It only shows "Open Print Queue".
It prints just fine and I know it used to show both the "print" and "scan" selection. I don't know when this ability disappeared. Does anyone know what I have to do to get this capability back? I'm not real computer savy so I appreciate all the help I can get.

    Hi,
Click the Apple icon, then About This Mac and select Software Update.
Allow it 30 seconds, then click the top Store menu and select Reload Page.
If there is any HP or Apple update available insall it, reboot your Mac and check if you may scan then.
If the same persists install the following package and check again:

  • Can I use a Sony all-in-one PC/TV as a second display for the G5?

I'm trying to build a pro music system out of my G5, which means that it should only have music software on it. I have an aluminum 20" display hooked up to my Radeon x800T video card, which has one DVI and one ADC jack on it. A pro music rig needs two 20" displays, at least, to display all the mixers, processors, instruments, etc. I have to use a PC for my financial stuff and need a new one. The new Sony Vaio VGC-VA 11G is their version of the i-Mac G5, it's all-in-one plus it is a 20" LCD TV with S-video and composite video in, not VGA in. If I get an ADC-to-VGA adaptor and hook that up to a VGA-to-S/video & composite adapter (all on ebay!), can I plug the output of the G5 to one of the video ins on the Sony Vaio and then use the Sony Vaio's TV as the second display (not simply mirroring the Apple display)? I guess it would be the same as using an LCD TV as a second, non-mirroring display. If it works, it's going to be cool!

By reading the user's manual, it appears that is possible. Download the User Manual from this link:

With the computer off, turn on the monitor, button farthest to the right.
Next button to the left of the on/off button, controls the input. Cycle it until you see HDMI in.

  • How do you scan multiple pages to my computer using a C5580 all-in-one printer

how do you scan multiple pages to my computer using an HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one printer?

    Hi @carolpaige
I would be happy to help you scan multiple pages. What operating system, and version do you have? Mac or Windows?
You will need to save your files as PDF, and when you choose the PDF format you will see an option to have all scanned pages saved as a single file. Knowing your operating system will help me to provide you with more detailed instructions.

  • What is the best way to scan using an HP All-in-One? (HP Office Jet 6210)

I have a HP 6210 that I would like to use to scan into my Mac. When I needed to print to HP printers, I realized that I did not need additional drivers and could use CUPS (as I understand Linux printing stuff).
Is there any way to scan without installing HP software? I am concerned about ending up with bloated software that consumes my CPU even when I do not need it. I know I am being suspicious even before installing the software linked to below, but then with HP I have had bad bloated software experiences.
I hope some Mac experts know the answer
    (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-57691-1 &lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=219&product=421991)

This doesn't answer your question exactly, but still. I just got a HP J6480 all-in-one, and installed the HP software. I have to say that I'm impressed with the software. Previously, I have been very unhappy with HP software (for Windows) to the point of not wanting to buy HP again, but this software just works, and it does not use CPU when not in use. So, my recommendation would be to just install the HP software (probably similar to that of the J6480).

What do you guys think of them? Is there another set/brand that you would recommend over it?
I'm trying to get one for my dad for Christmas. I'd prefer to get one that is not over 500 dollars.

That last one you linked is not a All in one like the others as its just a Home Theater in a Box and does not have a integrated blu-ray player like the others. Which actually makes that one my first pick as non integrated solutions provide for a little room for future expansion. however if you want the integrated solution I would go with the 780W as it provides 2 HDMI inputs and a Component Input vs just the 2 HDMI inputs of the 280 model.

  • What multifunction(all-in-one) printers work with Mac OS 10.9 and 10.8? - Printing, scanning and faxing!

What multifunction (all-in-one) BW laserjet printers work with Mac OS 10.9 and 10.8? - Printing, scanning and faxing!
I had a HP3052 whith a scaner message error 5 which can't print anymore. Anyway scanning with this HP is not supported anymore. So looking into the huge HP compatibility list on the web I see no good choice:

The new HP LaserJet M127fn MFP  duplex is not even on this list...
I prefer laser than ink printers (I hate buying cartridges every month or have the system stuck with dry ink when not used for a month).
There are some good brother laserprinters, e.g. MFC7860DW, but PC-Fax doesn't work on Mac (I believe).
Thanks to anybody with some good ideas.

Thanks baltwo, but I am looking for a printer-copier-scanner-fax machine. I think I might go with the brother
    http://www.brother-usa.com/MFC/ModelDetail/4/MFC7860DW/Overview#.UvAHCf1LrfM
    mainly because more and more people seem to have bad experiences with HP printers in the $150-$300 range and manufactured in recent years;
    and forget about faxing...

  • Wireless printing problem with HP Envy all-in-one 110 when running Mac OS 10.7

I just bought the HP Envy all-in-one 110. I have a Macbook Air running IS 10.7. I managed to install the software correctly and the wirless network light is showing on the printer. I ran a test page from the printer and all the settings say they are "enabled." But I still can't get the printer to print over the wireless network. When I plugged in a USB cable, I managed to get it to print. I have a wireless router running over the Sonic.net DSL network. Network strength is good. I've switched off and restarted all equipment several times but still no results. Help!

    Hi,
I believe the router may not support Multicasting, a network protocol used for Apple's Bonjour service to operate as it should.
Will be helpful to know the exact router brand and model.
As a workaroung, you may try setting the printer by using standard IP, it should allow you to print, however the router issue (more likely) have to be handled first to allow the full software functionality including scanning.
Follow the steps below to set an IP print queue, it will also help to better understand the cause for the problem:
Enter System Preferences > Print & Scan.
    Click the plus sign.
    Click the IP icon.
Select the HP Jetdirect Socket protocol.
Enter the printer IP address into the Address field
Now try printing using the newly created print queue, listed as the printer IP address.
