Anyone using an ipad (wifi & 3G) in australia?

hi there
looking to buy the above but not sure if we should go with the 32 or 64gb, i'm told by a couple of people that 32gb should be well and truly enough. the 64gm is $122 extra and my husband thinks it's worth the extra for the 64 but i figure why get it if we'll never use it and save ourselves the cash, he can put it into a iphone4 or something.
interested to hear thoughts from others on what they use etc etc
thanks

There are lots of people who use the iPad in Australia, if you're concerned.
You should get the 64GB. Since you can't upgrade the iPad's disk space, you will be stuck with 32GB forever, unless you buy a new iPad. I have the 64GB, and it's nearly full with books, music and videos. There's ways to manage that to 32GB, but as new content becomes available, you'll want the room.

  • Has anyone used an iPad Mini as a cell phone replacement?

Hi all.  As a way to reduce the number of devices in my life, as well as the size of my cell phone bill, I'm contemplating purchasing an iPad mini with a data plan as a replacement for my cell phone, using Skype and other apps to handle communication.  I don't really drive and talk, and I find I'm using the cell phone talking part less and less and seem to talk mostly when I'm in a wireless environment.  I also don't text a whole bunch.  This seems much cheaper than my cell phone with a basic data plan.  Has anyone tried this?

We would love to help you with a cost for your two phones and to tablets convoyuser826. How much data will you need for two phone lines and tablets. What data plan do you currently have on your account and how much data do  you and your wife average per month? You can perform a pricing plan analysis online via My-Verizon http://bit.ly/xB4iTc . I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Can i use my iPads wifi in Spain?

I am traveling to Spain soon. I only have the wifi ipad2. Can I connect to any wifi out there?

It is no different than connecting to wi-fi anywhere else.  If there is public wi-fi available, then you could use it.

  • Can I use mini iPad (wifi only) and a mobile hotspot?  please include all details as though explaining to a 4 year old

I would appreciate any recommendations for models, how to purchase, information re: whether data plans are needed, etc.  I live overseas and need this while in the States.  Do not have an iPhone or other plan that I could connect my device to.  mini iPad purchased @ end of 2012, if that matters.
I know I need to purchase something--likely it will only work in the States, but are there any that work globally?
THANK YOU in advance for your help and time.

    Anyone?  Thanks in advance.

  • Has anyone used an Ipad first generation with the IOS SDK app development kit? If you have or have not did you need more than 16 gigabytes to work with?

What up with these online custormer assists they don't know what their own product is (ISO SDK app development kit) So this is where they send me when they could have answered me yes or no you need that

What "online customer assist" are you referring to? The only entity at Apple that could or would help you with this issue is Apple Developer Support. Is that who you contacted?
In any case, are you referring to the capacity of the iPad itself? If so, a 16GB will be fine for testing unless you have it loaded up with too much stuff for your app to load and run. If that's not what you meant, please clarify.
    Regards.

  • Is anyone using an IPAD in the travel industry? More specifically is it compatible with Amadeus

    [email protected]

Amadeus has an app for their system, though I'm not sure it's what you're looking for:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amadeus-mobile-partner/id404149822?mt=8
I have no personal experience with it myself. They have a couple of other apps, but those seem more aimed at the traveler him/herself.

  • Is it safer to use the ipad vs. the computer for paying bills using Wi-Fi?

Is it safe to use an ipad at home within their secured Wi-Fi network to pay bills on the internet vs a regular computer or laptop.  I thought I had heard that its more difficult for hackers to hack into apple devices vs regular pcs.

For anyone using a private WiFi (with adequate security), there isn't much difference in terms of the actual transmission. The iOS device is probably more secure from malware or other similar intrusion that a windows machine, so from that standpoint, the statement is probably true. But as Steve points out, the real weak link in this is the actual network.

  • When I try to turn on my iPhone 4, it wouldn't turn on unless if I use an iPad Charger. When it will turn on. I can't connect to any WiFi Services or my Service Provider, I can't text or call anyone. When I unplug my iPhone 4 it'll just shut off.

So when I try to plug in My iPhone 4 to any plug it won't turn on or charge unless if I use an iPad charger. When I do get to turn it on. My Phone will Standby for a few seconds( While I'm Typing my 4-Digit Code) then it'll unlock and go to the home screen. Once I'm on the home Screen I can't Call, Text or Email anyone because my iPhone Can't detect any Wifi Hotspots and it also can't connect to my Service Provider, It'll just Say "Searching...". The non-internet apps work perfectly fine. So since I was able to use Just an iPad Charger to turn on my iPhone 4, I tried a Regular iPhone charger that were plugged into a wall or my computer. When its Plugged in, my iPhone will turn on ( Showing the Apple Logo) then turn back off. It'll constanly do this only when it's plugged into a Regular iPhone Charger, Either plugged into a Wall Socket or my Computer. So I Tried to Restore the Phone by using some of the Methods, given by other iPhone 4 Users, non of them worked. My iPhone won't Restart, Restore, Turn on without a Charger, Be Detected on my Computer and Detect my Service Provider. I really need help to fix my iPhone 4. I'm really not sure if it's a Malfunction with the Software on the iPhone, if my Sim Card is Broken. if the System is Corrupted but it only happens Rarely.

  • Has anyone seen their iPads using your wifi non-stop, even if you are not using it, even when it's closed with the smart cover?

Lately my internet usage is up to the roof. I though somebody was hacking my wireless router so I made it super safe with lots of restrictions.
But that didn't stop the download of stuff over my wireless network. When I monitor who or what is using my wirelss, only my iPad was on, so, the moment I turn the wifi off on my ipad, the download stop. Turn it back on, it goes like crazy sucking up data off my wireless router for no reason. There is no indicator that the iPad is using the wireless yet, it is my iPad downloading things that I can't even seen, it does even with smart cover on!!!!. It's been over 50GB in only three days. I don't even have that amount of data on iCloud.  This began a few days later after I upgraded my iOS to 6. But also, I'm thinking it could be an app that I installed. Or is it possible someone can use my iPad as a middle point to access my router and steal my internet. I have restored the OS on the iPad and it keeps doing it. Anyone has experienced something similar?

I'm going to guess that your battery life is also not so hot.  What I suspect is happening is thatbthe pad is locked into an update loop with I cloud.  As an example, if you have addresses that do not agree, the cloud back up will continue to try and correct itself, using both battery and wifi ( or cell).   It may also be an app trying to uzpdate itself.
To troubleshot, try turning thigs off.  If you are using the cloud, turn off all syncing and see it the problem stops.  Then turn them back on, one by one, until you find the culprit.  If it is an app, it may be harder to find, but the steps are the same.  Turn off all notifications, and uninstall anything you added around the time the problem started.
A frequent culprit is magazine, comic, and newspaper subscriptions, that are constantly trying to update themselves.
Keep looking, you will find it.

  • Using an ipad in australia

wondering if anyone can help...i am going to australia in a few weeks...and i am gifting an ipad air.
its a 4g...can they use the ipad as we would here, if they buy an internet plan with an australian provider?

    Presuming a WiFi only device...
I am not sure about the cellular model as far as compatible SIMs are concerned...others can speak to that issue...
Power is no problem other than needing an adapter for a US type wall plug to an Austrailian type wall plug. Check local travel stores, Radio Shack, Best Buy, Walmart, etc for adapter kits. The power adapter itself is rated 115/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz...

  • I used my ipad to transfer music to my wife's pc, now I have reconnected to my mac and itunes is not recognsing it - the ipad is not showing in the sidebar

I used my ipad to transfer music to my wife's pc, now I have reconnected to my mac and itunes is not recognsing it - the ipad is not showing in the sidebar and syncing not happening. I have tried resetting ipad and restarting etc but still no joy. Anyone had a similar experience?

Take it to the Apple Store for evaluation.
    Try this.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the Sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut Off. To power up hold the Sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time (for about 10-15 seconds) until the Apple logo appears (ignore the red slider), then let go of the buttons.
     Cheers, Tom

  • HT5569 Can I use an iPad in a short-term rental apartment with free wifi in Scandinavia?

We are considering buying an iPad 2. We will be traveling in Scandinavia and the Baltic area for five weeks this summer, staying in short-term rental apartments that all have free wifi. Wil we be able to use an iPad in these countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia? If so, what kind of an electrical adapter will we need to charge it?
    Thanks!

Wifi is the same everywhere so no issue there.
The Apple charger is universal, It can take voltage from most countries so all you would need is a plug adapter to connect it to European outlets.
Your best bet is a set like this, so you are prepared for wichever outlet type you encounter:

  • Has anyone used the Seagate wireless plus with an iPad?

I would like to use this wireless external drive to store videos and then stream them to my iPad.  Has anyone used this drive and if so how do you like it?

    Hi everyone,
I am frustruated with the Seagate Wireless Plus. I think most of you just download movies in it and then watch it on your tablet. I thought this can be my external storage for everything including the content of my iPad. Not so easy!!! I can't see anything from the content of my iPad when I connect it wirelessly to Seagate. I wrote to Seagate and apparently there is another thing called WebDav in order to do it. I think Windows are winning here how easy it is to connect devices. Simply, I can see the demo stuff from the Seagate on my iPad but nothing the other way, no pictures, no music, no videos stored on my iPad can be seen from the Seagate. If there is somebody who can explain to me how to do it before I will return the Seagate to the retailer please do it in a way normal people understand. Don't say "I think" as most of people in these forums do, please say only "I know" and lead me step by step what to do. I have the latest iPad mini with iOS7, 32GB WiFi & Cellular with Retina display. I've already updated the Seagate OS to 2.2.0.005 exactly as they advise by installing the 2.1.0.014 prior to that.
Please forgive me for the tone but those 10 hours I spent so far without any results are too valuable to me.
    Thanks in advance. Danny.

can I blue tooth my iPhone 5C with iPad mini 2 wifi only and use my iPad as a gps in my car?

Take a look at iOS: Understanding Personal Hotspot  Your cellular carrier needs to support this feature and may charge extra, on top of your normal data plan.
