Anyone using an SSD? did you align partitions to erase blocks?

I'm waiting on the 2nd gen Intel SSDs to copy my / and /home to the faster I/O device. In the meantime, I'm reading up on these things and have found numerous sources that suggest aligning partitions on SSD's to the erase block of the device. I found two major sources detailing the process. This one shows a setup using parted and explains the process.
I'm just posting to solicit feedback from the community on this issue. Does Aloisio have it right in that blog post?

My partition scheme for the 80 gig ssd will be pretty simplistic:
20 gigs of NTFS as partition #1
15 gigs of ext4 as partition #2
200 meg of ext3 for /boot as partition #3
rest of the drive for /home as partition #4
I'll keep /var and /data partitions on my HDD.

I have now used Everweb to transfer a website from iWeb & am now working on transferring a second website.

Anyone useing an SSD Drive in a Mac Pro? Should it be Sata? or pci..can it be bootable?

The Title says it all!
But to recap, I would like an SSD boot drive for my 3,1 power Mac.....I can get SSD drives in PCE or SATA configuration, which would work better?

EIDE or PATA hasn't been used and of course is way too slow.
SSDs today are "too fast" for the SATA II we have so you don't need SATA 3, SATA II is still hitting the wall with an SSD.
You do know that yours should get 250MB/sec but being small you need to cut down on what you store on your boot drive and use other drives for meda and data.
SATA 3 SSDs can deliver up to 500MB/sec which again is getting close to the max bandwidth of 700MB/sec that the controller chip used in the Mac Pro is capable of, which is shared by all 4 drive bays.
Many users stick the SSD in the lower optical drive bay. Very convenient. I can't remember if you have an SATA optical drive though or they still used EIDE.

I'm considering an SSD for my Linux root and /home. If you're using an SSD under Arch, can you please run a quick benchmark for me and post the results in this thread? You can use hdparm to do a quick read test. Here is an example using my HDD.
# hdparm -Tt /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 14500 MB in 2.00 seconds = 7258.88 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 368 MB in 3.01 seconds = 122.16 MB/sec
Beyond that, have you noticed any substantial speed ups over an HDD, like launching programs, booting the system, etc.

Perhaps use of IDE-MODE flash devices will provide best answers with the hdparm measure. It does a sequential test which is hardly normal for operating systems.
Usual performance from ide mode flash devices is 45mb/sec but in practice may be a bit less in hdparm. Two ide mode flash drives in raid0 give me less than 90 mb/s. My use is for quick access storage, mostly read-only. When first installed, 90 mb is possible but within a few weeks, it lessens to the mid 80"s even with read-only.
The performance over time lessens if the units are used as SSD and such is normal wear and tear. Many articles cover the subject and the methods used to minimize the effects.
Much is going forward with SSD and expectation is that in a few years they will be in wide use. This remains to be seen!

Anyone Using An SSD Drive for Audio Yet?

Been thinking about one of these for my record drive, since a very small one would work for me (as I'm only working on a few songs at any given moment and have plenty of other space to store things). It's between this and getting a V Raptor drive but I love the idea of no moving parts...

Anyone using two SSDs in a RAID0?

Since the price is dropping, I'm wondering if running 2 of these in a RAID0 will amount to anything real that would justify the effort. An Archers running an array in a RAID0 and care to post a quick benchmark? Procedure is on the wiki.

Can I delete the mac partition used to create the boot camp partition?

I am using Mac OS 10.9.5 on a late 2011 17" Macbook Pro.
I currently have an SSD in the primary drive slot with my primary Mac partition and an HDD in the Superdrive slot that has one unused Mac partition that I would like to delete and a Windows 8 partition that I would like to keep.
Can I delete the extra Mac partition on the HDD so I can use that as spare space? It was the Mac partition that was used to run Boot Camp and create the Windows 8 partition that is on the same drive so I am nervous that the Windows 8 partition needs to rely on that Mac partition to work for whatever reasons.
I recently went through a huge ordeal to create a Windows 8 Boot Camp partition as I wanted it on my computer. I had previously taken out the Superdrive and replaced it with a data doubler and the original hdd, and I had an aftermarket SSD in the primary drive bay. I had been using the SSD as my Mac partition and the HDD as spare storage space. For my Boot Camp config, I wanted to split the HDD into 2 partitions and make one Windows 8 and the other spare storage space while keeping the SSD dedicated to my Mac partition. Achieving that required removing the SSD, removing the data doubler, reinstalling the Superdrive, putting the original HDD back in the primary drive slot, installing and updating Mac OS on the HDD, using that Mac install to run Boot Camp and create a second partition for Windows 8, installing Windows from the Superdrive, and then putting everything back by taking out the Superdrive, putting the HDD back in the data doubler, and putting the SSD back in. Everything works now. Understandably I don't want to break anything and have to redo this process.
That said I do want to delete that extra Mac partition and use it as extra storage, if I can do so without breaking the Boot Camp Windows 8 partition.

Wrong advice. Do not use Disk Utility. Use Bootcamp Assistant to remove the Bootcamp partition and return the drive to a single OSx partition. Using Disk Utility will result in lost space, lost data, and possibly an unusable OSx partition. Read the Bootcamp help and user guides.

How to get Did you mean feature visible - WP configuration done

I have SP 2010 Entpr. Search and a results page with Search Summary WP with "Show Messages" option on. I have suggestions in index like "sharepoint".
If I spell wrong for example "sharepint", I don't get Did you mean option. So, how can I test this feature because I don't know what is possible? What words / terms I should test?
I don't have FAST Search.

Search Box web part - "Edit Web Part" and there is a checkbox in the Query Suggestions section. This checkbox should be checked by default.

On your search results page select "Edit Web Part" for the
Search Summary web part. In the Miscellaneous section, check the "Show Messages" checkbox. This will enable the display of the "Did you Mean?" messages. This checkbox is not checked by default.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you can connect the device with Bluetooth and make and receive calls but they dont hear you. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

HT4352 I have home sharing turned on on my computer but the Apple TV does not recognize it even though the same Appleid and password is used. Does anyone have this issue and, if so, how did you resolve it?

Issue with Apple TV not recognizing the home sharing option in itunes. Calls for paswrod but even when added it still does not recognize it. iTunes indicates that the home sharing optionis on but this is apparently not seen by Appletv. How can this be resolved?

I've got a client that's in production with it, it was acceptable to Bank of America. I'm working on another client and will be trying it shortly with JPMorgan Chase. Just order yourself a glardon guage online if you don't have one already from your bank, that'll help you place the MICR on the check template.

If you aren't receiving password reset emails and your security questions don't work, someone has hijacked your account.
This happened to me.
You need to use Expresslane to contact iTunes support to regain access to your account ASAP.
