anyway to orient the air flow to horizontal setting. cos right now my cpu cooler was shooting up warm air to my power supply.

It's to help getting hot air out, but that is added by case builders.

Case builders added extra fans because ATX standards aren't good enough for high-end systems.
However, ATX is designed to let the PSU suck out the hotair...
Anything you add to it makes it all cooler and doesn't hurt.
You should know that AMD CPU's do not get very hot at all, it's the Intels that do, especial the Pentium4, so case builders created all sorts of solutions to cool them down as ATX wasn't sufficient for the P4.
Even Intel made a new spec BTX, but that wasn't accepted by builders.

MSI DKA 790GX Platinum problem

Hi !, its my first time i post a new message !, im a french guys and english its my second language... so i will try to do my best...
I bought last week a MSI DKA 790GX Platinum with Amd Phenom 2 940...
I set up all my new pc with OCZ Fatality 4 x 1g ddr2 1066 and WD 640g SATA and a Ultra 600w
First think i saw when i get out the MoBo of the plastic bag, 3 pins of the Flat circu-pipe are broken, i found the 3 spring in the bag... (i can take picture...) but the flat circu pipe stay in place with 1 pin and maybe thermal compound (no sure)... anyway the pc start #1
at the start of the pc i got the unknown processor msg like everyone cause i have the 1.2 bios version
im using the onboard VGA for bios setting,format and install Vista business 64bit.
Come on the forum and use the USB Flash technic... i do everythink you say... work perfectly, bios update to 1.6...
After a reboot like its say a the end of the bios update... I got cmos error... and cant boot anymore
i tryed to clear my cmos error with the button on the MoBo... nothing, or sometime... when i restart my pc... my screen show horizontal bar changing color to red to blue to yellow....
after 30-45min wasting time for reboot,/clear cmos/ remove battery... nothing...
I put my 8800 gt in the pci-e and magiccc.... pc start #1... work perfectly...
so dont no what happend to my onboard vga with the 1.6 bios update
Next week i will get my sapphire 4870 1g ddr5... so dont no now if i will get problem :(

His onboard vga is disabled, on the 1.6 bios update MSI have decided to disable the onboard vga by default, meaning someone either has to go and get a pci-e gfx if they haven't got one or if they lucky enough to still have an old pci gfx they can use that, they need to release a fixed 1.7 bios (as there are other areas messed up).

if you've only just got the board and it was damaged, then i suggest you get it replaced, as you don't know what else could be wrong with it. And it's better to do it now as you can just do a straight swap, as later on you could be waiting for 28+ days to get it replaced.
the HD 4870 1GB should work fine, I'm running a HD 4870x2 2GB without any problems

i update to v1.7 because when i first plug in the 1066Mhz RAM, it only show 800Mhz in bios, so i update to v1.7 as the update include "update memory module".
anyway my system is fine, as i have run 8 hr of memtest.

The 140 watt is the same except a temp up to 64C is acceptable while the 125 watt version maxes out at 61C. You can feed it more voltage, without it frying immediately, but AMD still says the range is 1.05v to 1.30v and you are shortening its life expectancy running higher volts.

Well, thank you very much for to see answered my constulta, the problem is this. The bios, when you upgrade to a newer version, it gives me the option of M-Flash, which is a utility to easily achieve the bios update, and finally learned how to use it, but the problem is this, when the BIOS is updated, all drivers load, and then pulls a mistake, CMOS Checksum bad, do not understand that error gives, and lets me choose between two option, F1 to run setup or F2 to load default data and continue, most of F1 tighten the time, but that did not know which was the most convenient option! For example, achieves update the bios, always taking the F1 option, and with the highest error, and when I enter the system, I blocked everything is labeled, and sometimes there is no choice to be reset, a probe with previous versions bios, and also was the same, try everything and not be able to walk properly the computer, until you install the bios by default, the 1.2 ... But I ran into problems such as the video card can not install the AMD Display Driver, and has no solution, then that is what is really happening? MSI DKA 790GX Platinum

Well, this might be a dumb question...but I will ask anyways.
On my motherboard. near the PCI slots, it says 7550 v1.2, doesn that mean it has BIOS version 7550v12 ?
I am planning to buy Phenom II 810/910, so ned to know if I shld update BIOS to v14 or v15.

you will be able flash the bios with the phenom II connected, if you have a spare pc why not download the bios updates. I would get both 1.5 & 1.6 as originally I had isuses trying to update to 1.6 from the original bios, but was able to update to 1.5 then 1.6 without problems.
If you haven't already got a bootable usb stick, then make one, and copy the bios files and tools across - next ensure it is in the new system before switching on, and then press F11 for boot menu, and select to boot from USB, you'll then be able to flash bios from command line

MSI DKA 790GX Platinum CPU voltage

I am trying to squeeze more out of my phenom 99950BE.
It is now stable @3.2Ghz for 10hr+ on prime 95 with 1.43V
Problem is i cant get any higher. And the max voltage from the board is only 1.45V?
even 3.3Ghz @ 1.45V results in BSOD and restarts.
Any ideas how can i push my processor further?

Anyone using HDTV Component Video on an MSI 6600GT?

I am building a system for somone and want to use a 6600GT because of the component video output. I have a 6600GT already but I have no HDTV to test the component output. Has anyone used the component output on a HDTV, and how well did it work?

I tried it in another computer and the picture was clean , until the whole thing locks up after 3 seconds.
Did the fixes they said might work, ng.

PowerDVD Software with a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Motherboard

I have a system built around an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard. I'm using the motherboard's onboard sound, and I have it connected to a 5.1 speaker system. Has anyone with a similar setup been able to play DVD-Audio discs with surround sound? I tried WinDVD 6 Platinum, but while I could get awesome surround sound from a regular DVD, I only got stereo sound from a DVD-Audio.
Has anyone used PowerDVD Deluxe? According to what I've read, it supports DVD-Audio surround playback, but I'd like to verify that it works before shelling out $70.

Nope, I'm sorry - it does not make much sense to do that when you have a real soundcard - I will look into the DVD-Audio thing for you, though. Just out of curiosity: why would you want to use a format specifically designed to provide the highest possible audio fidelity with on-board sound?

MSI K8N Neo Platinum and DTR

I was wondering if anyone know whether or not the new MSI K8N Neo Platinum will have support for the AMD Athlon 3200+ DTR chip? I know some boards have had trouble with them and I'm hoping that this one, since its a new reviision, will conflict with it.

MSI Neo 2 platinum with San Diego or Venice

Hey guys,
How do you guys get high clocks (2.8ghz +) using any of the bioses for MSI neo 2 platinum EXCEPT for 1.36b for Venice or san diego?.. For all the other bioses, the max vcore is 1.55V + 10%. But even at this limit, the vcore for me is only ~1.59V as detected by the bios, MBM, CPUZ and core center. So i dont know how to give my CPU more juice without using 1.36.. I dont want to use 1.36 because it doesnt support my memory controller and my computer is unstable. I want to use a newer bios that supports san diego's, but i also want high vcore to keep my computer stable at 2.9Ghz. I have used 2.9Ghz before using 1.36 bios but i need 1.4 + 15% vcore (CPUZ and MBM report 1.62V). This was stable using prime 95 for 24hours.... ne suggestions? thanks

Here are my results with my Neo2/3000+ Venice:
I use different apps to OC in Windows after booting with safe settings that I know work. That way if I use an app and push to far, the PC will reset with safe BIOS settings. The key for getting more vcore is to not set the first setting at anything higher than 1.45v. Setting anything after that will only result in it reading as 1.45v - as in your example, where you are setting 1.55v+10% and it only reads 1.59v...That is the same as 1.45v+10%.
What you'll need to do is install Core Center. Once installed go to Start/All Programs/Start Up, and delete it from there. That will keep it from starting everytime you restart the PC, and only run when you click on the icon. Next, boot at the highest vcore you need to, or 1.45v+10% if you need all 1.59v. Once Windows has loaded open Core Center and use the voltage options there to bump it up slowly. Both my brother and I have Neo2's and I can get 1.725v, while he can get 1.78v to work, all on BIOS v1.A...Hope this helps, good luck.
Also, if you don't have them, programs like Core Center, the A64 Tweaker, and Clock Gen are very handy and work really well when OCing. Be careful and have fun!

Anyone use a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo on a MSI PT880 ?

I need to know if anyone use a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo card on a MSI PT880 motherboard. As i cant get it to work on mine, i have to know if anyone else has succed this operation. Or maybe this tv-card isnt compatible with this mobo ?
I have tried the tv-card on 2 other computers, and it work great.
I can explain the problem here too (even if its in another thread too):
If i put the card into a pci slot the d-bracket show 4 leds. If i assign a IRQ for the pci slot in bios to 11 it seems to boot, but i cant have my intel pro/100 pci nic inserted at the same time, then it show 4 red lights again.
But if i just have the tv-card inserted and assign IRQ 11 and boot windows and install all drivers and software for the card, everything seems to work .. except that it cant find any channels.
And if i shut the pc down for an hour, and start it again. It again show the 4 red leds .. even as i havent changed any setting in the bios.
I got nuts on this one .. but im sure want my tv-card to work .. so i can check mtv when im doing other things.
If someone can help .. im being very happy.

Hi, for my PC i have purchase an Video card Asus N7600GS silent, the problem is high temperetur GPU and PCB in my Video card after 3-5 minute also only entered in bios, in monitor it appears "VGA signal out of limit" and have black screen random.
Is incopatible problem ?Or AGP slot is damage or transistor for volt regulator of tension not work ?
Bios in mainboard is the last, i have also upgrade bios in N7600GS but same problem is unusable i do not want to damage the video card because work fine with Gigabyte nforce3 ultra
