Anyone using Dolipo via Polipo Proxy to supercharge Safari 4 beta?

Hi all, i just tried the procedure found here for speeding up Safari:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/12964020/Make-Safari-Run-Lig
I could not disable the Safari cache per the instructions, but even without that there is a perceptible speed difference on my slow broadband, and it seems stable. However, I do have questions:
* is this safe and secure? i really don't understand the security implications of running everything thru a proxy, so I have not done anything securely yet. Is there anything to worry about here?
* can anyone verify if the tut is correct, is this the right command for disabling the safari cache: defaults write "com.apple.Safari" WebKitPageCacheSizePreferenceKey -integer 0
Well, thx for your input!!!

Also have installed Vidalia on a test machine with Dolipo and that's all working, but from the project descriptions I can't really figure out what it's all doing, which is leaving me feeling uncomfortable before deploying elsewhere. Does anyone here understand proxy server use in this scenario?!?
I am seeing a performance increase across the web access board in all browser, so I would like to deploy on other machines here since our broadband is so pathetic.

  • Anyone using 3DSMAX via BootCamp or Fusion/Parallels?

Just about ready to convert our computers (10 PC's) to MACs, and we use 3DSMAX, Does anyone have success using 3DSMAX with virtualization software and or bootcamp?

I take it that is a Windows application, so perhaps you should post this question in the Windows Compatibility forum. This forum is not the proper one for your question. You might also post a question with the developer of the program's tech support.

Yes Beta And RC. It works the same as Vista, with probably some enhancements. Didn't have any issues, but I did not try wireless.

  • Has anyone used SFTP/ssh via any process in OWB?

Has anyone used SFTP/ssh via any process in OWB?
We need to SFTP a file from an SFTP server(unix) to our OWB environement.

You can use the FTP operator in a process flow. Configure it as such -
    Command - /usr/bin/sftp
    Parameter_List - ?${Remote.User}@${Remote.Host}?
    Script -
    lcd ${Working.RootPath}
    cd ${Remote.RootPath}
    get myfile
    bye
You have to configure the operator to define remote and working locations.
There is another example for this in the documentation -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/casestudies/10gr2/ftpprocessflow/ftp_linux_to_winxp.html
I personally prefer scp to sftp as in my experience OWB handles errors better with it.

    Greetings Fraser Alexander,
Erasing your Mac shouldn't harm your internal hard drive but erasing does clear Yosemite and everything else off of it.  Are you not able to restore it with your Time Machine backup?
    iCloud: Erase your device
If you erase then find your Mac, you can restore the information on the Mac using a Time Machine backup. For more information, see the Apple Support article Recover your entire system. If you set an EFI firmware password on your Mac before it was lost, then erase it and later find it, you may need to take your Mac to an authorized repair center to unlock it before you can use it again.

  • Has anyone used the QuickUSB module (Bitswise Systems) to interface to a USB Camera via IMAQ for USB?

Has anyone used the QuickUSB module made by Bitwise Systems with LabVIEW for image acquisition.   I have a USB camera and I'm trying to use the IMAQ for USB controls to no avail.   Any input is appreciated.

Are you using the NI-IMAQ for USB functions or are you calling the QuickUSB libraries from LabVIEW?  Unless the USB camera is DirectShow compliant, then it will not work with the NI-IMAQ for USB driver.  You can use the Code Interface Node in LabVIEW to call external dll's, and it looks like from QuickUSB's website that is the best way to go.  Hope this helps.

  • How to Displaying Employee Photo in ESS Who's Who via Reverse Proxy?

    Dear Gurus,
I have a bit of problem to displaying employee's photo in ESS Who's Who via Reverse Proxy.
In my landscape, end-users are only able to reach the Reverse Proxy server, not the actual SAP server itself.
In Who's Who, when displaying the employee's info, the URI for the photo is generated using the actual SAP server name.
    Illustration:
    - the URI we expect: https://portal.domain.com/sap/bc/contentserver?.....
    - the URI we get: http://r3server.domain.com/sap/bc/contentserver?....
Does anyone know where/how I can set the URL (hostname and protocol part) to refer to my reverse proxy?
Or is it because SAP is using an absolute path rather than the relative one?
How do we go about it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • HTTP connection from OSB web service to external system via a Proxy Server

    Dear experts,
May I know has anyone tried to use HTTP protocol to send a request from OSB web service to external system via a proxy server? Heard that we need to establish some sort of tunnel (socket) to talk to Proxy Server. Can you please any have sample code or configuration steps to share?

    Adding Proxy Servers
Use the Summary of Proxy Servers page to add and configure Proxy Server resources and make them available in Oracle Service Bus as a system resource. You must be in an active session to configure or reconfigure Proxy Server resources.
    1. If you have not already done so, click Create to create a new session or click Edit to enter an existing session. See Using the Change Center.
    2. Select System Administration > Proxy Servers.
    3. Click Add.
    4. In the Name field, enter a name for the Proxy Server resource. This is a required field.
    5. In the Description field, enter a short description for the Proxy Server resource.
    6. In the Host-Port Parameters section, enter the following information:
    1. In the Server Host field, enter the host name or IP address of the Proxy Server. This is a required field.
The Server Host name for the Oracle Service Bus proxy server must be identical to the server host name of the actual proxy server.
    2. In the Clear Text Port field, enter the Proxy Server clear-text port number.
    3. In the SSL Port field, enter the Proxy Server SSL port number. You must enter either a clear text or SSL port number.
    4. Click Add.
You can configure multiple Proxy Servers for each Proxy Server resource. This enables Oracle Service Bus to perform load balancing and offer fault tolerance features for the Proxy Server resource.
    7. If the Proxy Server performs proxy authentication, enter a user name in the User Name field, and the associated password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
These fields are optional, and required only if the Proxy Server is secured.
    8. Click Save to create and save the Proxy Server resource in the current session.
    9. To end the session and deploy the configuration to the run time, click Activate under Change Center.

  • Using java.lang.reflect.Proxy class

I am investigating the uses of the new Proxy object introduced in jdk1.3.
One of the first things I noticed was how slow it was to generate a class via Proxy. The system can spend over 100 millliseconds to generate one. If you create many of those this can suck up alot of time. Is there a way to speed this up? I noticed when I try to cache the Object sent back into one of the java.util Collection I get errors when trying to retrieve them. Usually class cast errors when I call the 'isEmpty' method on the Collection.
I noticed that I could cache them into an array of Objects, I have also been able to store the Class that is generated, and the Constructor, so when new ones were needed I could just call the constructor using the Class that was pre generated.
In my performance tests it took in the order of 2 minutes to generate 100,000 without any cacheing.
When I cached the objects in an [] of Objects that time went down to around 15 seconds. When I cached the Class and Constructor the time went to around 30 seconds.
Has anyone out there attempted to cache Proxy's?
I would appreciate any experience you have had with this.
    thanks in advance
    chris

    Cris,
I am very interested in the caching approach you took. I have an application that uses a lot of proxies, any kind of optimization on proxies would result in a big performance boost.
    Thanks,
    David

  • Will creative cloud work via a proxy server

We use a proxy server for all our internet connections. Will creative cloud work via a proxy server?

Hi - I'm i  a similar position to the OP, we've bought a cc2014 individual licence but I work in a government organisation with proxy server and strong firewall and we can't download even the desktop manager. When I spoke to support they said it was unlikely I'd be able to get it to work through our system, and even if we upgraded to a teams licence we'd still have a problem as the indidual computers would still need a clean connection through to the adobe servers to activate.
The document linked only talks about the Packager and the Teams/Enterprise licence, so is there just no solution for anyone with a single licence that has to work via a proxy server? Would a Teams licence solve these problems?

  • Anyone using Blackmagic Intensity Pro with Premiere CS4

I've looked through the threads and have seen similar postings, but no real good answers. Is anyone using Blackmagic Intensity Pro to viiew timeline on a HDTV using the HDMI connector?
I purchasedf the Intensity Pro and can't get it to work with CS4. Any assistance would be appreciated.

If you're using a Core i7 processor, one of the problems might be with the motherboard.  There's only one Intel board that BM has approved (sorry, don't have the model in front of me -- on a piece of scratch paper in my wife's car).
I'm looking to build a new system myself and have been looking at the Intensity Pro card as well.  The main feature I'm looking for is real-time preview and program output to an HD monitor that I'd hook up via HDMI.  I probably also would use it to capture analog sources for audio and video.  I don't have any interest in BM's lossless data capture as it creates monster-sized files.  That's why I was also planning to add Cineform once it's fully approved and working for CS4.  However, as best as I can tell, the Intensity Pro card doesn't recognize the Cineform codec on the timeline.  Does anyone know if and how well these two will function together within Premiere?  (I'm also assuming that the new 4.1 release might make these types of Premiere add-ons work better.)
    Thanks.

  • A website says i need to use a UK based proxy for their site. I am based in England!

This is what the site says when I try to view it even though I am in England >>
Licencing restrictions require that Kiss Kube is only available to UK based listeners. Kiss uses a system to determine your geographic location via your IP address to make the decision.
Multi-national corporations and internet service providers sometimes have their network configured in such a way that it makes it appear to the Kiss Kube that you are trying to listen from another country.
If you are in the UK, please ask your IT department if you're able to use a UK based proxy for internet access.

  • How do I send HTTP request to a server via a proxy server in JDK 1.4?

JDK 1.5 's URL class provides an overloaded version of openConnection() which accepts an object of type Proxy using which we can establish connection with a remote server via a proxy server, but JDK 1.4 doesn't provide any such overloaded version. How do I do that in JDK 1.4? Even if I had a class that can create HTTP packets for me, then I could have established Socket connection with the proxy server and sent the HTTP packet to it. Is there a way to do that also?

There are some system properties, which can be set with System.setProperty [http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/net/properties.html]

  • Is anyone using a 1252 ap in bridge mode with channel bonding?

Is anyone using a 1252 ap in bridge mode, with channel bonding?
I had a question a while ago from a customer with regards to bridging with a 1252 ap to increase throughput for a wireless link he was using, from the throughput improvements in 802.11n. At the time I spoke to Cisco Pre-Sales, and they indicated that the bridge function in the 1252 exists for 'testing' purposes. I advised our customer that although it should be possible to implement, we may run into difficulties with TAC support ect. in the event of problems with the link.
Can anyone comment if this is a Cisco validated/approved design now?
Also, has anyone done this and tested the throughput achievable?
Has anyone bridged both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios on a 1252?
The reason I ask is I've seen a note about a Cisco 5Ghz 802.11n bridge being launched.
    Thanks in advance.
    Alex.

    Hi All,
Thanks for all the feedback; I have finally done some throughput testing with the 1252's. Please note, this is very rough, just to give an idea on throughput that's achievable, and what you can enable. Did this a few weeks back, and have now wiped the cnf, so dont have the show runs any more....
The two devices were set up a few feet apart, with the standard 2dBi and 3dBi antenna.
All tests done on the 5GHz radio with Autonomous AP IOS.
I did data transfers via a laptop either end of the link; transferring data using the Test TCP utility (wasn't going for scientific tests, just getting some idea of throughput).
    802.11a @ 54mbs (20Mhz chan) WGB - root to non root = 2.43 - 2.5MB/Sec = 19.44 - 20 Mbps
    802.11a @ 54mbs (20Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 2.42 - 2.44MB/Sec = 19.44 - 20 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates( 20Mhz chan) WGB root to non root = 6.18 - 6.33MB/Sec = 49.44 - 50.64 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 20Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 4.77 - 5.00MB/Sec = 38.16 - 40 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) WGB root to non root = 8.59 - 8.58MB/Sec = 68.64 - 68.64 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 6.35 - 7.20MB/Sec = 50.8 - 57.6 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) Bridge root to non root = 9.73 - 10MB/Sec = 77.84 - 80 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) Bridge non root to root = 8.40 - 8.57MB/Sec = 67.2 - 68.56 Mbps
So basically, as per the above posts, you can implement bridging on the 1252's and utilise the 802.11n rates and features, SGI, Spatial Streams and Channel Bonding etc, to achieve higher throughput.
Also, as per the above posts, this is still not supported by Cisco, so, in my case, I'd be highlighting that to customers straight off, but don't see it as too much of an impediment to deploy, as long as the customer weighs up the risks.
On a side note, I attended a Cisco session recently, and was told that the 802.11n Bridge, (the 1430?) was on hold indefinitely. My feeling is that this makes it more pressing that Cisco introduces support for bridging on the 1252.
Get in the ear of your local Wireless SE's, the more they hear it, the more they'll moan to the Wireless BU in San Jose! ;-)
Bridging with 802.11n has some interesting possibilities, I worked with Alvarion 5GHz bridges 6 or 7 years ago, that could do 'near LOS' - Worked well in cities, using reflection of the RF from buildings. I had never heard of 802.11n back then, but I'm guessing Alvarion was using MIMO to achieve good non-LOS connectivity in the 5GHz band.
    Cheers,
    Alex.
