Anyone using Nokia =vr20 and VoIP successfully?

Coz I'm not!
If I try and connect to my configured WiFi AP using the Internet Tel app (and Connect to service) it says "Connecting to default via MyWifi" followed almost immediately by "Unable to connect to the connection network".
If I go to a contact and select Options, Internet Call (as an alternative way of connecting) "Requesting Registration" followed by a message "Phone not registered with blah blah... Register now?" followed by "Registering to service" and a nice "Unable to Register to service" message.
Both ways of connecting return very quickly and the WiFi symbol comes up only BRIEFLY (but does come up).
However, and this is where it gets really interesting, if I first make a connection to MyWifi (say by using the front screen wifi app, opening a browser and then backgrounding the browser) both methods work fine. So it's definitely not my SIP settings but something to do with usuage of the WiFi connection.
Any help *GREATLY* appreciated since I've tried everything and have done loads of Googling but to no avail. It all worked fine in v12. Since 20 onwards I've had to go through the hassle of bringing the WiFi connection up first before making VoIP calls (as a workaround) but as you can imagine it's very tedious!

My access point uses my own DNS server. I'm not using DHCP but I don't have a problem with the Access Point. Or in fact the SIP (since if I bring the connection up first via a browser it works fine). It just seems to be the combination of bringing up the WiFi connection when trying to register the SIP that it fails. The WiFi connectivity icon flashes up briefly but you almost immediately get an error.
There is no port forwarding on the firewall although I can't see how this would help since this would only be incoming traffic (I assume you mean DNAT here). There are no restrictions on outbound traffic and also I don't use NAT since I can use a public address for my access point configuration (lucky me).
I guess I'll just have to wait till Nokia fix it. Boo.

Anyone using Login Pro and PowerCore Firewire

I have a G5 dual 2 gig with 4 gigs or RAM, 2 x 160 LaCie HD, RME Firewire 800 and PowerCore Firewire. I have been having issues with PowerCore losing connection, plug-ins load and are disabled, and total system lockups.
For testing, I removed all audio IO drives and used internal audio, remove all midi drives and I am still having the same issues. Anyone using Login Pro and ProwerCore Firewire successfully?

I am on the same machine as you. Most of my problems (similar to what you report) have been due to the driver/software of the Powercore. Luckily for you, TC doesn't have phone support, so you can be spared the immediate relief you don't want and wait the 48 hours for a general email response that says you get to wait another 48 hours until someone gets back to you.
That said, Powercore FW works fine for me. It sounds like you are using a lot of FW devices, which might also contribute to your problem. I've found that you can actually overtax the FW ports on G5's to the point where they stop working properly, causing random connection loss.
Does the powercore connect through any other device?
Trying unplugging your LaCie's and see if that helps.

Actually I have found a way for at least the instrument plug ins to be accessed.
I was able to set up an instance of Sculpture in MS2 and record it in LE using Soundflower.
Route the audio from MainStage to Logic and record onto an audio track in Logic as follows:
If not already installed, get SoundFlower. After installing it.
A) Setup the sound you want in MS2 and audio output to Soundflower (remember to Apply Changes or it does not hold).
B) In Logic Express set the audio input to Soundflower and create a new audio track for recording. Important: set Soundflower's audio output to however you listen to your audio or you won't hear anything.
C) Press RECORD and start playing, LE captures Mainstage's sound.
I have not tried to wire LE's output to MS2 to take advantage of Space Designer. but since this functions, I'm not sure why that couldn't work as well. It is still flipping though a few screens though...might just be easier to get Logic Pro from the App store....

Had some problems with the 8550 and decided to take up a Xerox trade-in offer.
The ColorQube 8570 not only works perfectly with Tiger, it's a lot faster and quieter than the 8550.

Has anyone used Firefox Sync and Xmarks at the same time?

Firefox is my primary desktop browser. On my desktops, I use Xmarks because I use Firefox, IE and Chrome. It enables me to keep my bookmarks synced across browsers as well as use home/work profiles, etc. However, I'd like to use Firefox Sync so I can sync the bookmarks to my smartphone. Has anyone successfully tried this? I thought I'd ask before trying it myself just in case. Thanks!

Does anyone use both iPhoto and Aperture

I just got an mac book pro and I am trying to decide what to do with my iPhoto library that is on my old G4 eMac. I'm wondering if the best (and safest) plan would be to transfer that library to the new machine, bring it into iPhoto and then import the entire library into Aperture.
On second thought I wondered if it would be a good idea to leave everything in iPhoto and just open images in Aperture only when I want the extra editing tools... using Aperture for keeping all the "prime" photos and iPhoto for snap shots and iPhone pictures.
And... is it even possible to import the library from another machine directly into Aperture?

Pick one and stick with it. They don't actually integrate very much.
Aperture and iPhoto are entirely different applications that work in very different ways.
The only communication between the two is as follows:
Aperture is able to parse the iPhoto Library to allow it to import the contents while stacking the Originals and Modified versions, preserving metadata and so forth.
Aperture can share its Previews with the iLife apps, including iPhoto.
That's it.
So, specifically, what interaction there is between the two is designed to facilitate migration from iPhoto to the more powerful app. After that, iPhoto has exactly the same relationship to the Aperture Library as, say, Pages or iMovie.
iPhoto has no knowledge of, and knows nothing of how the Aperture Library works. It cannot read the Aperture library.
So if you decide to try this:
using Aperture for keeping all the "prime" photos and iPhoto for snap shots and iPhone pictures.
You'll end up using two apps to manage two different sets of photos, with twice the complications. Aperture is not an "external editor" and can't be used as such.
Think: Writing your novel in Word and TextEdit at the same time. "I'll write this chapter in Word, this paragraph in TE and then back to word..."
What of you wanted to sync your Photos back to your Phone? Which library will you use? You can't use both.
And... is it even possible to import the library from another machine directly into Aperture?
The routine would be to move the Library to the new machine and them process it into Aperture. Then trash the unwanted iPhoto Library.

Anyone using source control AND cloud sharing?

Hi. I'm curious if anyone has any experience or tips to share about a RoboHelp environment that uses BOTH source control and cloud sharing.
My company uses perforce. I'm purchasing a couple copies of TCS5, one for me in California, one for writer colleague in Europe. I'd like to use Perforce for version control/backup, but use Dropbox for RH asset sharing and sync. Is this workabout? I'm guessing that the Dropbox/sync mechnism won't work if one or both of us has not checked out a file that needs to be (automatically via sync) updated. ("Not checked out" = file is in read only state.)
If RH automatically checks files in/out of perforce in order to complete a cloudshare sync, that would be most cool!

Have you tried the scenario with RH 11?
It should automatically check-out the file or should prompt for it based on the settings Tools -> Options -> Version Control
I tried with Robo Source Control and SharePoint. And it is working for me. Check-in has to be done mannually.

How to use Nokia map and update software!!!!!!!!!!...

I am using N95-4 8gb, it already built in nokia map with version v1.2. i searched raound on internet, and i found that i am having old version.
I tried to download the new version on the Nokia website, but i couldnt download it. It just appeared the pop up for reading and notthing for downloading.
Another question, When i finish the downloading the map to my phone from the nokia map loader, i disconnect the cable form the phone and i got message say that the date may have been lost. and it required turn Date transfer mode off before disconnect.
Please show me how to turn it off . I do not know how and where to.

Latest version of Nokia Maploader allows you to connect both in default PC Suite mode and Data transfer mode so don't get Windows warning for removing USB mass storage device and more options of Maps, Voices and Store available in Maploader.
If you into Connectivity > USB > USB mode - choice of four connection modes.

Has anyone used Ethernet Gateway and LabVIEW, communicating with Ethernet/IP protocol ?

I have a PLC system (Jokab Safety B20) together with Ethernet Gateway (also Jokab Safety type E1).
What I want to do is to communicate with this unit using LabVIEW Ethernet/IP.
Read a couple of data and write a couple.
Has anyone anything like this with LabVIEW and Ethernet/IP ?
I'm completely new to using PLC's, but I have made a minimum PLC application, but can't get communication to work with LabVIEW (+ Ethernet/IP).

i generally use an OPC server to talk to he PLC and then use Datasocket to talk to the OPC server tags.
if that gaetway thing is an OPC server then you maybe abel to do data socket R/W via it.
Otherwise the NI OPC server may support that widget and (at the rate I bill out) is a good deal in the eyes of most of my customers.

i'm having big issues trying to get them to sync, followed all the tut's i can find online, and i have the pda recognizing the bluetooth dongle i have on the computer, but as soon as i try to connect for a sync i get "... port is in use,....." on the pda can't remember exact wording, on another computer now..
does anyone have this working that could lend me a hand?

How well does the E7 work with Skype now? Is it possible to use voicechat now over both 3G and Wlan?

I am using Nokia 5700 and have 2 problems, plz hel...

1) I downloaded and installed Nokia Mobile Search 4.0, but I don't see any change. There is no field in the Active Standby or no 'Search icon' in Menu. I rebooted it twice and reinstalled once, but no hope. What to do?
2) 5700's web browser does not support horizontal page, so I installed Opera 4.0. But I don't see 'Zoom in/out' and 'find keyword in page' function in it. Doesn't Opera have these 2 most important features? If it does, then where is it?

Anyone Using Via Raid0 And 1 Sata On Promise?

I'm using raid 0 on VIA and want to use a maxtor sata 80gb on Promise for files. When I boot it shows the maxtor in Promise but not in Windows. When I go to the drivers for Promise, it says CODE 10. I searched the posts for this but didn't find anything. Any help will be welcome.

Wait, you made the single drive into an array on the Promise controller?
Then you probably had the Promise controller setting wrong all along. In the system BIOS (NOT Promise BIOS), you need to go to "Integrated Peripherals" and then "Onboard PCI Controller" or whatever (the name of the submenu depends on your BIOS version).
There you'll find an option called "Promise 378 Controller" that can be set to "Disabled, SATA, or RAID"
Yours must be on RAID. If you put it on SATA, you could've used the single drive without making an array.
If it's on SATA, there will be no option to enter the Promise BIOS setup, and it will NOT call itself a "FastTrack" controller. When it is set to RAID, it will use the FastTrack BIOS and give you an option to enter disk setup.
Having a single disk array isn't really a problem... but it's not necessary if you don't have any real RAID arrays on the controller.
I currently have my Raptor array on the Promise controller, and my two largest PIDE drives on the IDE3 connector. Each of them is in its own "array" so that it can be recognized while the Promise controller is in RAID mode.
