Anyone using Oracle EBS in a hybrid environment

Hi there,
Is anyone using Oracle E-Business suite in a hybrid environment (i.e. application tier on Linux and the database tier on HP-UX or SUN)?
Any pointers will be appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,

  • Complying to FERC Standards using Oracle EBS 12.0.4

We currently have a 6 Segment COA –
ENTITY- ACCOUNT- DEPARTMENT- INTERCOMPANY- FUTURE1- FUTURE2 Segments.
As per our recent acquisition we have to comply with FERC – Federal Energy Regulatory Commission standards and that requires changes to the existing Chart of Accounts (COA).
The business would like to use the Future Segments to accomplish this.
    Questions –
    1. Is Oracle EBS R12.0.4 complied to handle the FERC requirements with COA modifications?
    2. Please provide any documents, white papers, presentations, articles, note-Id which may suit this case.
    Any info would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance

Once the COA is defined and transacted against, it cannot be changed.
You will need to enlist the services of Oracle Consulting to do so.

  • Anyone used Oracle 8i/9i AQ?

Hi, has anyone here used Oracle AQ with it's java interface?
We are currently using OpenJMS and it dies every week due to memory leak. As we already have an Oracle license so AQ is the next natual product to try.
Anyone has other free/cheap recommendations for JMS implementations? Has anyone had any bad experience with Oracle AQ?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  • Has anyone used Oracle Designer??

    Hello everyone, I wanted to
get some unbiased opinions about Oracle Designer if anyone out there has used it.
We have recently completed the database design (on paper) for an Oracle 8i
Database. I was about to begin creating that database on the server. I was
at and Oracle Forms course and they strongly recommended that we use Designer to build the project. We had planned on developing using Oracle Developer, which we have already purchased and used a little.
If anyone has experience with it could you answer a few questions for me:
-is it worth the time to learn that product?
    -is it difficult to learn?
-what benefits will it give us?
-are there any drawbacks we need to consider?
-there are only two of us working on this project & we have both recently
gone through rigorous Oracle 8i database training and Oracle Developer - so
we're leery of learning another new product .
Thanks for your help, any input is appreciated.

We use des/2000 mainly in our application for oralce forms generation. The layout of items in the casvas is phenomenal. Lets say, we have 20 items, and we wanna group them in 5, and thus each group contains 4 items and lay them out neatly with basic contraints defined at the table level. In the normal conventional method, we use dev/2000 to create these items in the canvas and lay them out manually and write program units for enforcing on the clients. Of course, dev/2000 does some lay outs, but it's not equivalent to des/2000 layout style. In case of des/2000, create them in the des/2000 tool and do the settings in preference navigator, and generate the form. that gives you very nice layout style (which is completely different from dev/2000 auto layout). Let's say in future, you're adding an item in some place (for eg., in one of groups or a the end of the canvas or at the beginning of the canvas), then just go to des/2000 and add the item in the correct place (ie b4 and after the items that are already exists), and generate the module again, you get nice layout again. This reduces the lay out time, manually doing it in dev/2000. We're pleased by this feature in the des/2000. I like the way it works and also, it's easy to get Entity Relatoinship Diagrams etc..more and more)
For a complicated, life time evolving projects, worth to spend time. Bcos, it'll take less time in future when we do changes for our application, of course, at the beginning it takes bit longer time to finish the project in des/2000, before the generation, but it's worth. For a smaller projects, I'dnt go for des/2000 tools. It's much easier to do it in dev/2000 tools.
Once you define tables and other objects in des/2000, generate the ddl script and apply them to other oracle databases, there you go, you get the tables and other objects created in another database without spending lots of time. Let's say you have 20 customers, and your application is 300 tables. You need to do some customization for each and every customer. In that case, generate the ddl out of case, and copy the same scripts in 20 different files and do the modifications in the script according to the customer requiremetns, and send them to customer to create their objects, you can imagine how cumbersome in case of normal conventional way.
If you know the power of des/2000 tool, you wont regret to learn it. Again, it's worth spending time and money for bigger projects, nor for smaller projects.

  • Anyone use Oracle Privileged Account Manager  with OEM

Our security folks are pushing us to lock the "oracle" account and use OPAM. Have others done this? Is it possible?
What they are hoping we do is create a named account, and only su into oracle if need be. I realise these doesnt audit much of anything .. but alas..
If we lock "oracle" - can OEM pull passwords from OPAM? I think thats what they are looking for us to do. OPAM would rotate passwords and such. We as dbas should never need to know the oracle password.
I could be totally off on this ..
Anyone gone down this road before?
    Daryl

    Hi,
I want to check  did you start the any service before running the security store? Go with create option as you are created different domain for OPAM.
    Let me know.

    Ari

  • Anyone used Oracle Advanced Q

I have a few questions about Oracle Advanced queuing since I am looking for a queuing solution:
    1) how does it compare with MQSeries, Tibco, MSMQ, etc?
    2) does it use the actual relation DB to persist messages or does it use some other repository
    3) does it support transactional receives/sends?
    thanks.

  • Anyone use Logic in a school Lab environment

If so, what do you use to secure the dongle so students don't walk off with it?? Anything home made or commercial??
    Thanks
    Mark L

Use one of the wire locks made for laptops through the hole in the end of the dongle. It won't stop the dongle being detached from the port, but it will stop the dongle from being taken away (unless they carry out the entire desk or bench, or have bolt cutters!)

  • How to Install and Configure Discoverer with Oracle EBS R12

    Hi,
    We are using ,
    Oracle EBS Application Version: 12.1.1
Operating System Version : OEL 5.6
    Database Version : 11.1.0.7
We want to install Discoverer on Server where EBS R12 is installed. After doing initial analysis found that we need to install Application Server before installing Discoverer.. Is it right ?
If yes then which Application Server version we need to download? can anyone post guidelines about Application Server version, place from where i can download it and installation guide ?
    Thanks,
    Priyanka

Thanks to all of you for your valuable guidance.. We are planning to install WLS. Meanwhile i came across one document saying EUL is pre-installed for Vision instance.
For connecting to EUL_US i have installed Discoverer Administrator and Deskop (10.1.2) on my win 7 machine. After that did following steps,
    1. Create folder under ORACLE_HOME (D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\secure)
    2. Copied DBC file from $INST_TOP/appl/fnd/12.0.0/secure to "D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\secure" folder
    3. Copied TNS entry of EBS R12 at tnsnames.ora file
    4. Created environment variables FND_SECURE (D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\secure) and FND_TOP (D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1)
Tried to connect to Discoverer Administrator using Database User like SYSTEM and able to connect. But when tried connecting to Discoverer Administrator or Desktop using Application user then got following error,
    "Unable to connect to: cbrown@vis
Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password"
After doing some analysis on this error using Metalink and Forum made following changes,
    1. Set System Profile value "Signon Password Case" to "Insensitive".
    2. Updated value if the parameter "s_aapserverid_authenticate" from "SECURE" to "OFF" in context file and after that executed autoconfig.
Still not able to resolve the issue.. Can anyone guide me on this ?? So that i will be able to access Discoverer Desktop using my Vision instance Application users.

    Priyanka

  • Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA 10g hardware sizing

    Hi All,
To give you the background, we have integration requirements where in one of the interface about 20000 sales orders come in the system everyday and they have about 3-5 lines per sales order. Most of these orders come between 3-6 PM. We have 50 other interfaces along with this but this is a major one. Client is concerned about performance and so we have to give right design and right hardware sizing so that the system is able to handle all the load without causing performance issues. We are planing to use Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 (10g)
Any processes, documentation on how to go about hardware sizing, tools will be helpful
    Thanks,
    Rahul

  • Has anyone used a Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick

    Hi,
I was looking into this product and was thinking about getting it for my powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz. I know it came out about 2008 and is now discontinued but all new TV viewer programs require an Intel mac. With this one you can use a G4/G5 and Intel.
    Mark

If not the Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick how about anyone using the Elgato Systems EyeTV Hybrid? It has the same system requirements for viewing HDTV as does the Pinnacle unit. Anyone get HDTV with one of those on a MDD G4?
