Anyone using PC sync on EOS Rebel cameras?

I need a PC flash sync output on my T5i. I have a hot shoe adapter but it does not work.
Anyone using a PC jack with no other flash connected?
Se my related post for details of my problem.

Hi TopDrifter,
To connect your camera to a Windows 7 computer, you'll need to change the communication mode.
To set your camera up for this, please do the following:
With the camera disconnected from the computer, turn the camera on.  Press the "Menu" button.  Now select the [Wrench, Hammer, 2] tab.  Scroll down to "Communication" and press the "Set" button.
Select the [Print/PTP] and press "Set".  This process is more completely described (and illustrated too!) on page 121 of your Digital Rebel XT Instruction Manual.
Now connect your camera to your computer and turn the camera on. Your computer should now recognize and have access to your Digital Rebel XT.
Unfortunately, Canon software cannot communicate with the Rebel XT when operating in this mode.
You may download your pictures using Windows Photo Gallery, or you may use a card reader to download images.  If you haven't already done so, you may retrieve and install this program from Microsoft's download.live.com.

  • Has anyone used Firefox Sync and Xmarks at the same time?

Firefox is my primary desktop browser. On my desktops, I use Xmarks because I use Firefox, IE and Chrome. It enables me to keep my bookmarks synced across browsers as well as use home/work profiles, etc. However, I'd like to use Firefox Sync so I can sync the bookmarks to my smartphone. Has anyone successfully tried this? I thought I'd ask before trying it myself just in case. Thanks!

Using Xmarks and Sync simultaneously will create a mess.
You can create a new profile, import the bookmarks from your main profile, and set up Sync for the new profile.
The flip side is, bookmarks from your main profile would not get synced with your new profile.
Alternatively, Xmarks is also available for Android.

  • Anyone use BBerry Sync?

I am trying to find a good online sync option for email/calendar/tasks/contacts.  My work email is on an Exchange server and I don't have access to the corp BES.
Can anyone tell me if they have used BBerry Sync and if so, how well do you like it?

These guys are an absolute scam. - google them. They just take your money and they RUN - so before you get screwed over like I just did, take a look at this thread:

  • Anyone using an nNovia HD with their cam & FCP?

I'm interested in the nNovia drives but wanted to check if anyone has experience using them successfully with FCP. I searched the FCP & FCE forums and there were a few references to Firestore drives but none on nNovia.
I film live events and often have issues with tape length, so I'd like to go tapeless. I'm aware of the 2GB file size limits on the nNovia & Firestore units & can put up with that if they otherwise perform well w/Final Cut.

Well, with miniDV the maximum is 60 mins per tape @ SP. When I've got a Shakespeare production with intermission at t=90+ mins I have a problem with tape length. I've been double-teaming 2 cameras to deal with the intervals where I have to swap tapes & it's a pain in the butt not to mention the occasional problems with having to feed audio to 2 cameras from my mixer. Tapeless would be a great solution.
The Firestore automatically breaks the DV feed every 2GB and begins a new file automatically, sequentially numbered w/o losing any frames. The nNovia must do the same but before I lay out my hard earned $ I wanted to check to see if anyone has experience with them.

  • Has anyone used the new JVC GZ-HD7 camera with FCE?

This camera is supposed to export files as an MPG-2 variant. Can they be imported directly into FCE without conversion?
    Thanks.
    Richard

    Hey,
I got one. No you have to convert them into some type of QuickTime file. I downloaded the MPEG-2 QT Plug-In then I use either StreamClip or QuickTime Player to convert them. I convert them into H.264 just because that keeps the file size down some what.

  • Anyone using "Missing Sync for iPhone"? Any alternatives?

I have had enough trouble with Mark/Space software's Missing Sync for iPhone 2.0 that I'm pulling my hair out. It is consistently finding conflicts and just keeps popping them up on the screen, and the conflicts are jibberish that make no sense.
I had this trouble with earlier versions of this software, and it digs so deep into your system that even when you're installing software, it will pop up, which scares me as I don't want other apps running while doing something like this.
Now I updated to 2.0, because I thought maybe it would be resolved. No such luck. Now, programs randomly crash saying it's "Missing Sync" app that is crashing, etc, etc. I need to get rid of this program but I want something that is similar: A way to keep/download my call logs and text messages.
Just curious if there are other programs out there that don't run deep in your system, etc.
I've tried and tried to get this resolved from Mark/Space, but their support is abysmal, no answers about what's going on.
Any insight would be great, thanks

Probably best if you could post screen shots of the Inspecror window in extended view with a couple of the clips you using for the 2 angles.
If you have audio from both cameras and have identified them separately, the sync is usually pretty reliable.

  • I have a EOS Rebel Ti film camera which I used for business years ago, 3 lenses, wide angle to

    Hi jonesy!
    Thanks for the post.
All EOS cameras, both 35mm and film, have the Canon EF lens mount.  Any of our EOS Digital SLR cameras will work with the same lenses you were using with your EOS Rebel Ti.
The reference to "all EOS cameras, both 35mm and film" is sure to confuse some people, especially if this is the first time they've heard of a full-frame Rebel. And as most owners of digital Rebels are aware, not all EOS cameras have the EF lens mount, which does not accept EF-S lenses.
So I'd put it this way:
"All EOS film cameras have the Canon EF lens mount. Since all of our EOS digital cameras can accept lenses disigned for the EF mount, the lenses you were using on your EOS Rebel Ti will work on any EOS digital camera."

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Canon EOS Rebel Digital Camera Suggestion Upgrade

    Hello,
I currently have been using the Digital EOS Rebel. My issue is that I use the Remote Capure 2.75 software and it only works on Windows XP. Can someone give me a recommendation for a camera upgrade that uses also a Remote Capure software that will work on Windos 7.
    Thanks JR

I think Canon switching to EOS Utility for tether capturing so it is no longer support Remote Capture with newer OS. Canon Rebel is an old camera, and I know that Window Vista and newer OS would not recognize the camera so non of the software out there that I know of can provide tethered shooting for your camera on Windows 7. Maybe someone else know, but I think you will need to upgrade your camera.

Okay, so i want to use EOS Utility on my Digital Rebel XT camera. In case you are wondering EOS Utility is used to take a picture with the camera by just clicking a button on the computer. Its used to make it so that any pictures i take arent shaky. Anyway, there is no link for the camera and when i go to the cameras homepage, and go to softwares, There is no download link for EOS Utility for my camera. Is there any way I can still use it on my Digital Rebel XT Camera? Let me know thanks

Is there any way I can still use it on my Digital Rebel XT Camera? Let me know thanks Other responses have gone off to explain some other solutions before answering your question. The simple answer is "NO". You cannot use your camera tethered to a computer, controlling it via EOS Utilities software (or Lightroom, for that matter). In order to do that, the camera must have the Live View feature. Your XT (aka 350D, from 2005) doesn't have Live View. There was a version of LV on the EOS 20Da (2005), a more complete implementation of it on the 40D (2007), and among the Rebel-series models the XSi and XS were the first to get LV (aka 450D & 1000D, both introduced in 2008). Other responses are on some right tracks, though. If your primary purpose is to help prevent camera shake, there are several other things you can do, which you may or may not be aware of... - Set a faster shutter speed. Of course, to do so may require a larger lens aperture and/or a higher ISO.  - Get and use a lens with IS (Image Stabilization).- Use flash, it freezes both subject movement and camera shake, approx. like 1/720 shutter speed would, with most flashes.- Use a tripod along with:- - a remote release (RS-60E3 wired or RC-6 wireless)- - or just use the camera's self-timer delay - - and/or use mirror lockup (Custom Function 7) Tripod quality has a great deal of effect. Some are so flimsy as to be hardly worth using. For example, the most stable tripods do not use a center column or, if it has one, the tripod is tall enough to be used without raising the center column much or at all. Materials make a differentce, too... for example carbon fiber is much better absorbing fine vibration than metal. There are a number of other factors that go into making a tripod stable. Do some additional research, if interested. Note: RC-6 wireless release uses infra red and the sensor for it is on the front of the camera. This is certainly useful for self portraits, but may be problematic using this remote for other types of photos. In addition to the Canon RS-60E3 wired remote release, there are other brand remote switches including some that have additional features such as delay timers, interval timers (time lapse), etc.  AFAIK, Canon does not make a timer/controller with E3 connectivity (like the TC-80N3, which will not connect with your camera) Note: The XT's self-timer delay is 10 seconds only. However, when used in conjunction with the mirror lockup feature, it's automatically shortened to a 2 second delay. Note: While IS lenses can make possible handholding lenses at shutter speeds 2, 3 or somtimes even 4 stops slower than you'd normally be able to use... the effectiveness of IS varies a bit from lens to lens and good handholding technique are still needed to get the best out of it. Some IS lenses require IS to be manually turned off when locked down on a tripod. The IS in those lenses can go into sort of a feedback loop where it's actually causing, rather than preventing movement. Don't worry too much about it, though... if it happens you'll see it in the viewfinder and then can turn off the IS. (No harm done to either the camera or the lens.) Hope this helps! ***********

But then all of a sudden i don't know/remember pressing anything and it flashed orange when I went to take a picture and it did it again and it wasn't the battery because the batterie was halfway and I don't know what to do... It doesn't make a noise or anything when I click the shutter button! Please help me I'm freaking out!

Hold on don't send it anywhere until you:
Remove the battery for 30 minutes or so. Make sure it is fully charged and reinsert it.
Use a known good SD card.  <----very important
Make sure you go into the menu and set everything back to factory defaults. (Check your manual)
Make sure the dial on the top is set to the green square.

  • Has anyone used the QuickUSB module (Bitswise Systems) to interface to a USB Camera via IMAQ for USB?

Has anyone used the QuickUSB module made by Bitwise Systems with LabVIEW for image acquisition.   I have a USB camera and I'm trying to use the IMAQ for USB controls to no avail.   Any input is appreciated.

Are you using the NI-IMAQ for USB functions or are you calling the QuickUSB libraries from LabVIEW?  Unless the USB camera is DirectShow compliant, then it will not work with the NI-IMAQ for USB driver.  You can use the Code Interface Node in LabVIEW to call external dll's, and it looks like from QuickUSB's website that is the best way to go.  Hope this helps.
