Anyone using PrPro CS4/5 plus Corel DVD Movie Factory (Ex-Ulead)

Hi Folks,
I've been using Prem Pro for a while now and usually make my DVDs in Encore.
However, I recently wanted to use some rather good DVD menu templates that are standard in Ulead's DVD Movie Factory (Now taken over by Corel).
I imported my tapes into PPro, edited the footage as normal and output an avi file (via Adobe Media Encoder) using the presets "Microsoft avi files" and "DV Pal Widescreen".
Now here's my problem and hence the question: When I import the files into DVD Movie Factory, they show up as 4:3 instead of 16:9.
I've tried several versions of Movie Factory, 4,5 and 6 and also Corel Video Studio Pro X2. All give the same result.
Now if I import the original tape files (captured using PrPro) they show up as 16:9, it's only after editing in PPro and exporting via AME that they show up as 4:3.
Also, as an added twist, this only happens on long files.
I'm currently doing some tests and a 5 minute file exports OK but a 1 hour file turns into 4:3.
I'm not sure where the cut-off or changeover is as I'm still testing.
I did check with a friend who has just upgraded to CS5 and the problem is identical.
So I'm baffled. Is there some kind of problem with long files in AME or is there more than one method of marking files as 16:9, and Adobe uses a method not recognised by Corel or vice verse?
Any info or results of anyone elses experiments most welcome.
Regards.

This really is a very, very common issue with standalone recorders.
The data rates they use are often very high indeed, and it can often result in discs being burned from them that will only play correctly on the machine they were made on.
You mention
>To use Adobe Encore 2, I have converted the source file to Mpeg2 using a software program, on it's slowest, highest quality setting, so Adobe can read it, and then do my authoring.
What file types are created by the Sony please?
And what are you converting with?
Remember the Adobe monitor is showing you the footage both in progressive scan format - ie, non interlaced, and additionally it's streaming directly off the drive, not from a written disc.
Once you get to disc, the rules all change - and this is where you will see the results of "conversion".
MPEG files are heavily compressed, and converting them to another compressed format will cause inevitable quality loss.
Can you please give some info on exactly what the structure is from the Sony, the file types, and if at all possible the data rates of your MPEG-2 files after conversion?
There is a utility called "bitrate Viewer" that will do the final part. Grab a copy at http://www.tecoltd.com/

there is no dvd creator software installed and also no cd creator...
it saids "no earlyer DMF found" and is stop and exit intalling this patch.
Now i cann't get the dvd creator software on my Satelite A-100 ..
In my earlyer OS XP MCE had a.. DVD creator DMF from Ulead for toshiba (oem) and sonic cd creator
    What can i try now?
    Reagds Okky

The fact is that both applications are part of recovery image and these applications are available if you have factory settings only. They cannot be downloaded and installed additionally.
If you want to habe them again you must install OS again using Toshiba recovery DVD.

  • Qosmio G30: How can I install only Ulead Dvd movie factory from Recovery image

    Hi everybody
I have question about Ulead dvd movie factory.
First, I bought my G30 with XP when it was the moment of the offer "vista for a few euros".
So, I installed Vista with the official CD from Toshiba. But there was no longer Ulead Dvd movie Factory. As the XP's restoration CD is only an image disk, I can't install from it.
Has anybody a solution for me?
    Thank's.
    BR.

I think there is a solution!
I found the Ulead DVD Movie Factory utility on the Toshiba page.
I searched in the Qosmio G30 area but without to be successful.
But I checked other sections and selected Satellite Satellite A series Satellite A200 (PSAEC) Vista and found the Ulead DVD Movie Factory 5.51.0147.03 version
Download it a try to install this tool.
    Should works!

  • Has anyone used the Seagate wireless plus with an iPad?

I would like to use this wireless external drive to store videos and then stream them to my iPad.  Has anyone used this drive and if so how do you like it?

    Hi everyone,
I am frustruated with the Seagate Wireless Plus. I think most of you just download movies in it and then watch it on your tablet. I thought this can be my external storage for everything including the content of my iPad. Not so easy!!! I can't see anything from the content of my iPad when I connect it wirelessly to Seagate. I wrote to Seagate and apparently there is another thing called WebDav in order to do it. I think Windows are winning here how easy it is to connect devices. Simply, I can see the demo stuff from the Seagate on my iPad but nothing the other way, no pictures, no music, no videos stored on my iPad can be seen from the Seagate. If there is somebody who can explain to me how to do it before I will return the Seagate to the retailer please do it in a way normal people understand. Don't say "I think" as most of people in these forums do, please say only "I know" and lead me step by step what to do. I have the latest iPad mini with iOS7, 32GB WiFi & Cellular with Retina display. I've already updated the Seagate OS to 2.2.0.005 exactly as they advise by installing the 2.1.0.014 prior to that.
Please forgive me for the tone but those 10 hours I spent so far without any results are too valuable to me.
    Thanks in advance. Danny.

  • Has anyone used ROXIO TOAST II for burning DVD

Has anyone used ROXIO TOAST II for setting up intro and burning to DVD. I used to do this in IDVD which has been abandoned in the Maverick

Just to say that that I've tested iDVD on 10.9 and it works for me. It's a discontinued program of course, and hasn't been supported for several years, but I don't think it runs any differently on 10.9 than it did on say, 10.6.
However…can't help you with Toast because I don't use it.

  • Anyone using LaCie Internal dual layer LightScribe DVD burner in G4?

Anyone using this drive in a PowerMac G4? Any issues?

I'm using an ibook g4 with 512 ram, and a LaCie DVD DL burner with lightscribe (external). I'm quite satisfied with performance. Just make sure that you get the proper software for the mac with the burner (in the box) if you get lightscribe. If you don't, check limewire on a saturday or sunday to get it from me, then go to the LaCie website and download any and all updates.
    good luck.

  • Using PDFs in Slideshows - plus, the DVD-RW trick

    Dear Friends,
As one of my menu options in a current iDVD project, I have a series of illustrated documents in TextEdit which I have converted to PDF (Problem is, I can't find the orig. TextEdit file, so must use the PDF) that the viewer can click through using the screen arrows. I haven't built the disc yet, so am not sure if the PDF will be accessible to someone watching on a set top player, or, for that matter, on a computer that hasn't got Acrobat Reader. If using PDF is going to be a problem, I thought of converting the pages to jpegs in Photoshop or redoing the pages in TextEdit(a lot of work)...any successful suggestions for having a text slide show?
Other Question: My 2003 G4 came with a Superdrive that doesn't support DVD-RW discs. I heard there was a workaround to fool the burner into accepting them - something to do with putting in a DVD-R disc and then removing it and substituting the RW one. I'd appreciate clear instructions for this procedure, please.
    Thanks so much,
    Keith

You can use Photoshop to convert the PDF files into TIF/JPG files that you can use. Remember that 'all you have to play with' is 640x480 pixels so I hope your documents aren't too detailed.

Yes, that's what we did with versions prior to iDVD 5. When asked to insert a DVD, insert a DVD-R, AS SOON AS IT IS RECOGNIZED, hold down the disk eject key, immediately remove the DVD-RW and replace it with a DVD-RW disc.

  • Anyone using AE CS4 on Windows 7 yet?

I'm running W7 64-bit which is working great but I am getting error messages in AE related to audio driver issues. I'm just using the default Windows audio drivers. Any thoughts?

Assuming you have admin rights, it may hinge on the driver signature. Only signed drivers are supposed to be installed and W7 is even more rigid in that regard than Vista. I believe you can still turn it off in your group policy editor's (gpedit.msc) security section, though.

  • Can I remove DVD Movie Factory for Toshiba

Is it safe to remove DVD MovieFactory for Toshiba in add and remove programs? Is removing it the same as deleting it?
I would like to remove it because I have never used it and "Ulead burning helper" in ""Services" keeps running in the background from this program.
    Thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

what you could do is do a restore point, then uninstall the program.  If you find that you needed the program to watch dvds, you can always restore back to the restore point and no damage done.  Disabling the sevice is also another way to do it which is reversible.

  • Anyone use Corel DRAW Suite and printable CD or DVD's?

It wasn't so difficult making a template for printing labels and inserts, but I've never tried the printable optical media. I'm wondering if I can get the image of a CD label from a Corel document onto a disc, or if I need to use some other piece of software? Using a PRO-100.

Without the Canon software? Do you mean the thing they call My Image Garden? From a program's Print dialogue, one selects Properties for the Canon PRo-100 Series printer. Under the Printer Paper Size menu is the option for Disk tray K. As far as I know, Disk tray K is the little plastic tray used only for printable CD and DVD media. I must assume a company such as Canon would not handicap disc printing with minimalist software, not when professional graphics applications are commonplace. I also assume that this printing requires the use of some form of template. Graphics programs work in rectangles; printing those dreadful sticky labels was always a matter of positioning a circular design within a rectangular space correctly. Wouldn't printing onto a printable CD be much the same? This posting further leads me to believe that other software can manage printing to Disc tray K: http://www.audiolabel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=167 So, again, I'm tossing a message in a bottle here, has anyone designed printed CDs or DVDs with CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, and the like? I'm looking to minimalize loss associated with printing designs in the wrong location. And I'm SHOCKED that Canon didn't create a few templates for download, when they went to all the trouble of designing software such as My Image Garden. A template is nothing more than a new document containing a set of precise measurements. Anyone can make one, but it would be nice to have some idea what measurements to use beforehand.

  • Has anyone used Canon 5D Mark II with PrPro CS4 yet?

    Hi,
Has anyone used the Canon 5D with CS4?
    Do the files open ok?
Just wondering as I am going to hire the camera for a day as the footage is amazing!

  • Anyone using Blackmagic Intensity Pro with Premiere CS4

I've looked through the threads and have seen similar postings, but no real good answers. Is anyone using Blackmagic Intensity Pro to viiew timeline on a HDTV using the HDMI connector?
I purchasedf the Intensity Pro and can't get it to work with CS4. Any assistance would be appreciated.

If you're using a Core i7 processor, one of the problems might be with the motherboard.  There's only one Intel board that BM has approved (sorry, don't have the model in front of me -- on a piece of scratch paper in my wife's car).
I'm looking to build a new system myself and have been looking at the Intensity Pro card as well.  The main feature I'm looking for is real-time preview and program output to an HD monitor that I'd hook up via HDMI.  I probably also would use it to capture analog sources for audio and video.  I don't have any interest in BM's lossless data capture as it creates monster-sized files.  That's why I was also planning to add Cineform once it's fully approved and working for CS4.  However, as best as I can tell, the Intensity Pro card doesn't recognize the Cineform codec on the timeline.  Does anyone know if and how well these two will function together within Premiere?  (I'm also assuming that the new 4.1 release might make these types of Premiere add-ons work better.)
    Thanks.

  • Has anyone used an app with the Maverick software to burn iPhoto slideshows to DVD disks that will play on any DVD player?

Has anyone used an app with the new Maverick software to burn iphoto slide shows to DVDs that will play on a standard DVD player?  This probably cannot be a demo app in that the amout of photos on the slideshows is large.
    Thank you,
    Jim

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.

  • DVD Cloner for Mac v4- has anyone used this software?

I'm wanting to get a good DVD burner software, however there are so many out there. Has anyone used DVD Cloner for Macv4?

Thanks Kappy, I let it do the scan and when it stopped halfway through and demanded registration I stopped and deleted it.  I still have the icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen and don't know how to remove it.  If this is not possible I can live with it.  I am new to Mac and have trouble divorcing myself from my old PC habits!
