Does anyone have experience at this so I can be warned of unexpected headaches.

It's pretty simple, dansch.
The iPhone and iPods use H264 video at specific frame sizes and data rates.
So, while we could get all technical, this is the skinny:
Add your Comp to the Render Queue.
Select H264 as your format in the Output Module. The Adobe Media Encoder dialog will come up.
In the preset list, select "Apple iPod Video Large" (640x480) or "Apple iPod Video Small" (320x240).
These presets require an output size of either 640x480 or 320x240. The comment field in the AME dialog will instruct you to use stretch settings in the Output Module to get there (you can use a combination of Stretch and Crop, if you need).
Make sure you match the target size in the Output Module, or the encode will fail with an error (or the resulting file won't be directly compatible with iPods/iPhones).
If instead of exporting directly from After Effects, you use the Adobe Media Encoder in standalone mode (you would have to export a lossless file or use Dynamic Link first to get the content into AME), you'll be able to turn on 2-pass VBR encoding in the H264 options for better quality.
Using AME in standalone mode is CS4 only. As is opening an AE Comp in AME through Dynamic Link, which also requires Production Premium or Master Collection.

It's a 3 + yr. old white 13" MacBook, my daughter's. One chime to start up. It only shows a file folder with a question mark on the display. I did hear a repeating clicking noise coming from the hard drive area. I'd like to know if this is probably the hard drive, anyone with experience of the same? If so, I shall order a replacement drive, any suggestions? Thanks.

Anyone with experience with iOS 5.0.1 on 3GS?

When I updated my 3Gs OS to iOS5.0.1, things were running noticeably slower than usual. But that's not the bad thing. A few days later, my phone was shutting down randomly for no apparent reason, and rebooting. All these talks about battery draining faster and programs hanging were not common to me, or maybe I just didn't mind at all and paid no attention. So I took my phone to a shop, and that's where I learned of the problem, and the very simple solution of reverting back to the previous iOS. Now it works just fine, as if brand new, though I'm using iOS4.x which is what I'll stick with for the time being until Apple gets it's act together and fix the real problem.

Thanks for the quick read and response. Do you feel the issue might lie with the fact that it is a Mac Mini? And possibly just not powerful enough to run Leopard Server? I have to say in our trials with MacPro it was like night and day as to how they performed. And if you could elaborate on this "Many VPNs don't play well with NAT so your VPN server should have a direct connection to the public network (preferably firewalled, of course, but not NATted)." Most every SoHo and for that matter uses simple NAT translation for security even our multi thousand dollar Cisco PIX and ASA's are basic NAT devices to start with. How would you put the VPN on public net while keeping the attack surface low for the rest of the services like file, web, mail and print?
Don't get me wrong I want this to work more than you can imagine. We are so tired of supporting MSFT technologies that cost thousands a year in antivirus, antispyware, antispam and other malware protection for the enterprise. We know that Leopard has great potential but for an integrator, getting this system up and functional is not an easy task. And the worst part of it is every time we have called for support the tech always lets out a sigh when they hear we have run standard setup because they are not allowed to walk us thru the server console to make repairs. And have been told by 3 techs so far that this is a new product and the support avenues are not there for standard since it just supposed to work out of the box. But when it doesn't then ohh well. Which is sorta sad...

Why is PS CC2014 crashing all the time? Can anyone with experience help?

I have had relentless problems with all versions of PS CC and PS CC 2014. It crashes almost every time I use it. Some days I get away with it, but mostly I don't. It is basically becoming unusable which is a nightmare because I rely on it for my work. I lose time and work frequently. I have to manually save my files every few minutes for fear of losing everything. A classic cause of it crashing is just opening a file, grabbing a folder of layers, holding down shift to restrain vertical / horizontal direction and dragging with the move tool to reposition in the document. Bam, APPCRASH. A typical fault message is this, which I just generated now, by doing just that:

I have looked up this C0000005 code and it suggests that the application is trying to address illegal blocks of memory. If that helps.
Another classic is when I try to SAVE AS and the dialogue fails to display the folder structure in the window so I cannot select a location. Once this happens, we're heading into crash land.
Only PHOTOSHOP does this. I have plenty of professional software and tools on my system.
BEFORE ANYONE SUGGESTS I UPDATE MY VIDEO CARD DRIVERS, PLEASE READ:
I have a Radeon HD7750 card, which is approved for use with PS.
I have the very latest drivers for it (not the BETA release, but the very latest stable drivers and latest Catalyst Control Centre update). I have had problems with all versions of PS CC and CC 2014 and that's through various video card driver updates.
I have completely uninstalled PS CC2014 and all other versions of PS and uninstalled Creative Cloud and reinstalled both from scratch to try to solve this but it hasn't helped.
I have no third party plugins in PS
I have done regular and recent comprehensive checks on all my hardware and updated drivers, from BIOS, to CHIPSET and everything else.
I have no IRQ conflicts, no problems in device manager
I have monitored my system temperatures and they are fine
I have done 16 hours of MEMTEST+ on my 16GB of DDR3 RAM - over 4 complete passes, with no errors
I have stress-tested my video card with FUTUREMARK and it is perfectly fine within its capabilities
I have even installed Steam and the a PC game (which I don't normally do) and it stands up just fine, no crashes.
I have run a Windows System Health Check and his shows green lights for everything
I have done a file system integrity check and no errors are found
No other software on my system crashes like this, but PS does it all the time
I use Adobe Bridge, and I've never had it crash. I use Adobe Reader, it's fine. I use Adobe Premier Elements 12 sometimes, it's fine. Adobe Photoshop CC / 2014 is not fine.
I don't want to moan, I really need a solution and if anyone experienced can suggest something that goes beyond doing the the above I would be very grateful for your help

Like I said in the OP I had the very latest AMD drivers installed before submitting that crash report.
Since our conversations, I have completely removed my Radeon HD7750 GPU, uninstalled the drivers for it and the Catalyst Control Centre, and have resorted to using to my motherboard's integrated Intel HD graphics. I have the very latest drivers for the Intel HD graphics installed. Still, today I have had another crash event in Photoshop. So this cannot be the fault of the AMD card or drivers, because they are no longer present on the system.

Anyone with experience using DBMS_DATAPUMP.GET_DUMPFILE_INFO procedure?

I want to get a little bit of information about the dump file prior to trying to restore. I think the get_dumpfile_info procedure will provide me with the information I seek. However, when I try to run the code below, I get an error on the get_dumpfile_info line with the error code ORA-24337: statement handle not prepared. The only information I can find on that error code is:
Oracle Database Error Code ORA-24337 Description : statement handle not prepared
Error Cause: A statement cannot be executed before making preparing a request.
Action: Prepare a statement before attempting to execute it.
Which is about as useful as a one-legged rooster in the hen house.
All I can find on the procedure itself, is just the API makeup for the procedure (no real example). One example site follows:

Anyone with experience using a Fosmon 3-way HDMI Splitter Hub Switch Port Cable Cord?

Would like to feed my new MacBook Pro laptop and an existing Dell Latitude laptop into the same 25" Hanspree HDMI monitor. Appears that the above Fosmon 3-way HDMI splitter Hub Switch could work since the input feed is manually selectable on the Splitter Hub. Before purchasing this and accompanying cables, has anyone had positive experience with use of this Splitter?

Yes, you can connect an HDMI monitor directly up to a 2011 using an HDMI cable.

Anyone with experience with the HP LP2475W?

I am thinking of trying the HP LP2475W and am wondering what experience folks have had with it. I have been trying a Dell SP2309W and haven't been totally satisfied with it, mainly due the colors and contrast shifting due to the TN panel. I am wondering how the colors look on the HP and any other observations about the monitor. I've read a couple of posts already but am looking for more user feedback. Thanks!

The new v.2 software for the DR HD100 allows you to record HDV files direct to Quicktime (720p30, 24 or 25). I upgraded yesterday and they work fine. The problem with importing HDV direct from tape though appears to be unresolved, allow up to 8 seconds of run in time at the head of each take!
In my humble opinion, at this level of production, the convenience of shooting on location with the JVC camera, with it's functions and ergonomics, far outweighs the compression problem in the record format. This camera operates like a scaled down broadcast camera as opposed to a scaled up handycam.

Anyone with Experience of SSL MADI Xtreme?

Hi all:
I'm building a new Logic based system, and I'm thinking of upgrading my I/O and converters, which will require use of SSL's MADI Xtreme PCIe card.
Just wondering if anyone is using this card, even perhaps with Alpha-Links, and if you have any comments or advice or noticed any issues with Logic/10.5+. The only other option is an RME card, but it seems to require 2 slots, instead of SSL's one.

Thank you for your feedback. I've since been able to control the power supply through LabVIEW. I'm holding off on the pH meter and concentrting on the syringe pumps now.
I checked all of the attributes you noted and they match between the syringe pump and the LabVIEW program. I used the Windows hyperterminal with the pumps and were able to control them just fine, so only when I go to LabVIEW control via "Serial Communication.vi" do I get the sporadic communications. Any further insight?

Anyone with experience editing/uploading photos + video?

Considering an iPad for an upcoming project where carrying a laptop simply is not practical.
Anyone have actual experience using an iPad to:
1) Download media directly from a digital still camera, digital video camera.
2) Perform basic edits of images & video on the iPad.
3) Upload video and stills.
If yes to all three items above, where do you upload stills & video? I am MobileMe, but currently haven't used it for uploading media of any sort. Happy to use MM to uploading media from iPad if that's the best solution.

You can download and install image and video editing apps from the iTunes app store.
Launch iTunes. Select iTunes Store under Library on the left then click App Store in the menu then select iPad. Type in image editing app in the search field top right corner of the iTunes window.
Same thing for video editing apps.

Anyone with experience using mountain lion to download 1080p from sony cameras

I just found out that if I upgrade to Mountain Lion I can import to imovie 11 which I also need to download and iphoto 11 in full 1080p .   This may work
with any sony camera that will not bridge to Snow Leopard or Lion.   Anyone doing this,   can you edit movies in imovie.   And If you are doing this

This icon is usually indicative of a hard drive problem, and if none of the above help, it will need service. As it's out of warranty it may be cheaper to try a 3rd party repair site such as iPodResQ.

Keeping airport on for prolonged periods? anyone with experience?

I'm thinking of keeping the airport express on for pretty much all of the time, due to me being lazy and such. I was wondering though, would this wear out the LED that provides the light for the digital audio connection too much?
With too much (to avoid a run-on sentence here ), I mean, will it wear out then within a timeframe of two years (like some LED's in fiberoptic network equipment do), or will they last longer than that?

I have had my Airport Express for over a year and I really enjoy it. The Airport Express is made for the traveler who has limited space. It was made to be rugged yet still sleek. I wouldn't worry about your Airport Express' LED going out after 2 years because the Airport Express was made to stay on a long time. Properly installed LED lights can last for decades.
