Anyone with experience using a Fosmon 3-way HDMI Splitter Hub Switch Port Cable Cord?

Would like to feed my new MacBook Pro laptop and an existing Dell Latitude laptop into the same 25" Hanspree HDMI monitor.  Appears that the above Fosmon 3-way HDMI splitter Hub Switch could work since the input feed is manually selectable on the Splitter Hub.  Before purchasing this and accompanying cables, has anyone had positive experience with use of this Splitter?
Cajun4ISU

Yes, you can connect an HDMI monitor directly up to a 2011 using an HDMI cable.

  • Anyone with experience using DBMS_DATAPUMP.GET_DUMPFILE_INFO procedure?

I want to get a little bit of information about the dump file prior to trying to restore. I think the get_dumpfile_info procedure will provide me with the information I seek. However, when I try to run the code below, I get an error on the get_dumpfile_info line with the error code ORA-24337: statement handle not prepared. The only information I can find on that error code is:
Oracle Database Error Code ORA-24337 Description : statement handle not prepared
Error Cause: A statement cannot be executed before making preparing a request.
Action: Prepare a statement before attempting to execute it.
Which is about as useful as a one-legged rooster in the hen house.
All I can find on the procedure itself, is just the API makeup for the procedure (no real example). One example site follows:

Does anyone have experience using Oracle Large Objects (LOB's) -
specifically the CLOB datatype? Forte supports Oracle LONG's but given that
Oracle is going to phase out that datatype and they're trying to push users
towards CLOB's instead of LONG's, I want to find out if Forte can handle it
and, if so, what we should know about mapping Forte datatypes to the Oracle

  • HT204380 Does anyone have experience using wifi ipad mini in Kazakhstan?

Has anyone had experience using the ipad mini wifi in Kazakhstan?
If so, any suggestions or comments as to Face Time use, settings, apps, VPN, are much appreciated.
    Thanks!

These cables do not work. I have one myself that I thought I would try, basically VGA ports transmit an analogue signal, HDMI carries digital signals. You would need a powered convertor where you can plug in VGA, the box does the magic and outputs HDMI. These claim to do the trick:
    http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/vga-to-hdmi-converter.html
I have no association with tvcables.co.uk or the manufacturer of the box, but you should look for something like this, it carries your audio too.

  • Anyone with experience with iOS 5.0.1 on 3GS

Anyone with experience with iOS 5.0.1 on 3GS?

When I updated my 3Gs OS to iOS5.0.1, things were running noticeably slower than usual. But that's not the bad thing. A few days later, my phone was shutting down randomly for no apparent reason, and rebooting. All these talks about battery draining faster and programs hanging were not common to me, or maybe I just didn't mind at all and paid no attention. So I took my phone to a shop, and that's where I learned of the problem, and the very simple solution of reverting back to the previous iOS. Now it works just fine, as if brand new, though I'm using iOS4.x which is what I'll stick with for the time being until Apple gets it's act together and fix the real problem.

  • Hard drive I think failed?  Anyone with experience?

  • Can i use a hdmi to mini display port cable to use my iMac as external monitor for a windows laptop?

Does anyone know if a hdmi to mini display port cable can be used to link a  windows laptop with an 27 inch iMac to use the iMac as an external monitor. Or are there other options to connect my DELL latitude 6430?

Is the 3.5mm-to-optical cable any better than using a standard 3.5mm?  I don't know too much about this stuff.  My thought process was that if the source of the connection is a 3.5mm jack, does it make a difference using a cable that starts as a 3.5 and converts to optical?
Chances are excellent that if your receiver is less than 20 years old it has an optical input, this is a digital signal which will sound MUCH MUCH better than using an analog 3.5MM to 3.5MM connection. I recommend using the cable suggested or one with the same connections but of a different length if your needs warrant it.

  • 10.5.1 dowloading - anyone with experience yet - music match

My computer just said update available 10.5.1 and music match.  Looking for anyone who has this - maybe earlier today and with experience.  I'm a little reluctant to try and just don't know enough about music match, yet to want to sign up

Thanks for the quick read and response. Do you feel the issue might lie with the fact that it is a Mac Mini? And possibly just not powerful enough to run Leopard Server? I have to say in our trials with MacPro it was like night and day as to how they performed. And if you could elaborate on this "Many VPNs don't play well with NAT so your VPN server should have a direct connection to the public network (preferably firewalled, of course, but not NATted)." Most every SoHo and for that matter uses simple NAT translation for security even our multi thousand dollar Cisco PIX and ASA's are basic NAT devices to start with. How would you put the VPN on public net while keeping the attack surface low for the rest of the services like file, web, mail and print?
Don't get me wrong I want this to work more than you can imagine. We are so tired of supporting MSFT technologies that cost thousands a year in antivirus, antispyware, antispam and other malware protection for the enterprise. We know that Leopard has great potential but for an integrator, getting this system up and functional is not an easy task. And the worst part of it is every time we have called for support the tech always lets out a sigh when they hear we have run standard setup because they are not allowed to walk us thru the server console to make repairs. And have been told by 3 techs so far that this is a new product and the support avenues are not there for standard since it just supposed to work out of the box. But when it doesn't then ohh well. Which is sorta sad...

  • Anyone with experience exporting AE to iPhone?

Does anyone have experience at this so I can be warned of unexpected headaches.
So far, these links are what i will be using to research more:
    http://www.mp4kit.com/
    http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/fisticuffs-at-noon/video-to-jesusphone-conversion-software-show down-275458.phpFirefoxHTML%5CShell%5COpen%5CCommand

    It's pretty simple, dansch.
The iPhone and iPods use H264 video at specific frame sizes and data rates.
So, while we could get all technical, this is the skinny:
Add your Comp to the Render Queue.
Select H264 as your format in the Output Module. The Adobe Media Encoder dialog will come up.
In the preset list, select "Apple iPod Video Large" (640x480) or "Apple iPod Video Small" (320x240).
These presets require an output size of either 640x480 or 320x240. The comment field in the AME dialog will instruct you to use stretch settings in the Output Module to get there (you can use a combination of Stretch and Crop, if you need).
Make sure you match the target size in the Output Module, or the encode will fail with an error (or the resulting file won't be directly compatible with iPods/iPhones).
If instead of exporting directly from After Effects, you use the Adobe Media Encoder in standalone mode (you would have to export a lossless file or use Dynamic Link first to get the content into AME), you'll be able to turn on 2-pass VBR encoding in the H264 options for better quality.
Using AME in standalone mode is CS4 only. As is opening an AE Comp in AME through Dynamic Link, which also requires Production Premium or Master Collection.

    Hi,
You'll need the camera connection kit for the iPad available here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=ipadcamera+connectionkit&mco=Nzc1MjMwNg
You can download and install image and video editing apps from the iTunes app store.
Launch iTunes. Select iTunes Store under Library on the left then click App Store in the menu then select iPad. Type in image editing app in the search field top right corner of the iTunes window.
Same thing for video editing apps.

    Hi --
Aperture is extremely flexible.  You have unlimited use of Keywords.  Additional built-in tags are
    - Ratings (7 levels, easily shown with Images)
    - Color Labels (8 labels, easily shown with Images)
    - Location (assigned or based on GPS, has own interface)
    - Faces (Aperture comes with a useful face recognition engine, own interface)
    - Custom metadata fields (e.g.: Purchaser)
    - etc.
It's organizing abilities are second to none in its class (including Lightroom, Capture One Pro).
Provide some details about your research project, and I'm sure we can comment specifically rather than generally.

  • Anyone have experience using high-res files (eg line art) in Aperture?

As I found at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1741287&tstart=0 it seems that Aperture will choke on files over a certain size. I'll grant, I tried something that is outside the scope of Aperture---I tried using it to store a workflow starting with a scan rather than a photo. The scan is higher resolution than most digital photos (as line art must be).
Does anyone have any experience with high-resolution photos or scans? I'm talking over a hundred MB, possibly upwards of a gigabyte. These are precisely the sort of files that I want to create lower-res versions for specific applications and have them be linked to the master file.

I tried to use Aperture with my line art scans in the early versions of Aperture, but gave it up because Aperture did not seem to handle the file size.
Instead I use another workflow for my artwork, Bridge, Photoshop, Illustrator and Version Cue in combination with Extensis Portfolio. This is a very pleasing solution for me and I would recommend it to others to try out as well.
For me, Aperture is used for managing and adjusting my photographs.
