Anyone with the same problem? My macbook pro is freezing on start up and I get the follin

My macbook pro is freezing on startup lately! It is wierd because I think the computer is still working, I can turn the volume up and down, and change the light in the keyboard and so on... But it still doesnt work.. I took a photo with my iphone? My macbook is kindda old I think it is from 2007. 2,4 ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2gb mhz DDR2 SDRAM
I have installed version 10.6.8 on it..

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem now... I have a 2008 macbook pro, running mountain lino and it's been doing this.. I tried booking in safe mode and got the same result. Single-user mode didn't even run, and it just kept starting and shutting down without the screen turning on. Really weird.
Anyways, if you found a solution I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks

Yesterday my hard drive had to be replaced and my computer person salvaged as much of what was on it as he could, but now I have to reinstall Photoshop. 1) Why did it work before and it's not working now? 2) Is there anything I can do that does not involve reformatting the hard drive?

It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

I can't burn dvd's with iMovie because my new macbook pro don't have idvd how can i get it.

I recently bought a new macbook pro and it didn't come with idvd and every program tells me to send my completed movies to idvd. How can I get the program idvd. if i have to buy ilife 11 will it work and how can i get it.

My 13" macbook pro 2012 freezes totally every now and then

I bought my mac aproximately 1 year ago, and now it has started to act wierd. After using it in like 5 minutes, parts of the screen suddenly flashes green and proceed to a status of freezing. i can't move the mouse or do any kind of type-commands. the only thing that helps is to hold down the powerbutton until it turns off. when i have started it again it does the same thing over again. Do anyone know of this problem, and maybe have a solution, or just an idea of how to solve this problem? please help me :/
- right after buying it i changed the RAM to 8 gigabyte, but haven't had any trouble with it.

I ran the short and long hardware tests this afternoon and nothing came up. So there's no detectable hardware defect.
At the moment I don't suspect the drive. Today I've been running iostat in a terminal the whole day and I see no change in disk activity (or system load or anything else for that matter) when the freeze occurs. iostat keeps reporting the same numbers the whole time. Maybe it's something on the mainboard or a driver/OS X issue. Or an interrupt issue since everything that I did during the freeze gets done instantly after the systems starts responding again.
Monday I'm going to call Apple to report all of this. Since Apple Support only heard of this issue from you I expect I'm going to get a replacement MacBook Pro. But I suspect that there's a good chance I'll be getting another model with same issue.
A friend of mine has ordered the same configuration as I have at the same time. She hasn't experienced any problems so far. She's going to pay close attention to her MacBook tomorrow when she boots it in the morning. And in a couple of days we're going to test them side by side. I'll keep you posted.

Macbook Pro 13' freezes for 10 secs and hard drives clicks

Hi all,
I recently purchased a macbook pro 13" and it has started to make clicking noises every now and again (but it doesn't beep). The mac is also starting to freeze for about 5-10secs and then returning to normal.
The hard drive inside the macbook pro is a 160GB model.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how i can solve it?

Macbook Pro loading bar on start up and shuts down

hey guys, when i turn on my Macbook Pro, it shows the white screen on the start up with the apple logo and a loading bar below... before the loading bar reaches the like 1/5 of the bar.. IT SHUTS DOWN.. Whats happening here? what could i do?

I have a Macbook Pro I bought in December 2009. Every time I try to start it up it freezes loading my start-up apps. I can't use the computer since it freezes right when it starts to load. I have tried rebooting several times by holding down the power button. What should I do? Help??

MacBook Pro UI freeze on command-tab

I originally posted this elsewhere, but the thread was PowerBook specific. I'll retry here.
Occasionally - very rarely, maybe once a month, at worst twice in the same day - my MacBook Pro GUI freezes when I switch applications with command-tab.
Symptoms:
* the switch icons view remains visible
* the cursor moves
* no key combination will work (including cmd-alt-esc)
* the laptop remains accessible through ssh, and no particular process seems suspicious (no high load)
Facts:
* I think this usually happens under heavy load (Java compilation, multiple browser windows, etc.), so it could be a heat issue. Then again, this has happened even when a fan-cooled base was in use.
* It happens only when I hit cmd-tab
* This same laptop was earlier used by a colleague; he never had the problem. This would indicate a software issue. The pieces of software I run that are different from his are most likely Quicksilver, Skype, and Firefox, and possibly some Dashboard widgets. I haven't been able to eliminate any of these.
* Typical pattern of use: the laptop is almost always on; it sleeps only when I travel. I typically restart the laptop only after an update that requires it.

MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi ebudan, to me it looks like you've run out of RAM and had a lot of stuff swapped out by the OS (I'm guessing this based on your Firefox process having bloated to 250MB, your Safari to 300MB, and your Eclipse to somewhere over 200MB). Cmd-Tabbing in such a situation would then begin swapping pages back in from disk, which ties up all your disk IO; hence, the system becomes unresponsive answering disk IO requests but no process appears to be using up CPU time.
If you waited long enough, the system may become responsive enough for you to close an application or two, at which point you'd probably begin to see things return to normal.
One solution may be to add more RAM, although I suspect if you closed your browsers and re-opened them now and again (or simply opened fewer windows/tabs) you'd avoid this problem too.

Macbook Pro Retina Freezes!

Hey guys,
Lately I've encountered a problem with my 2012 retina 15" Macbook Pro: it freezes! I've noticed this happens whenever I:
Make a video full screen on Google Chrome
Try to play any video games (i.e. Dota 2, Starcraft)
Intermittently (it's really not fun when it happens randomly)
Since it started happening, I have erased everything on my hard drive and reinstalled OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on my computer, and have still encountered the problem. I have a feeling it's a graphics card problem (I use the Nvidia GeForce 650M 1024MB), as any YouTube or Vimeo video flickers and has strange thin lines that flicker from black to white rapidly whenever I play a video.

Right, MacBook Pro 17" early 2011(Built March) and my new OCZ sata III 6G not working, when is Apple going to admit there is a problem with the Intel's 6 Series Chipset. In System Information it says "Link Speed: 6 Gigabit" which is sata III.

My MacBook Pro 17" early 2011(built March) and my new OCZ sata III 6G are not working together, when is Apple going to admit there is a problem with the Intel's 6 Series Chipset. In System Information it says "Link Speed: 6 Gigabit" which is sata III and in my MacBook Pro it does not work.
Now MacBook Pro 17" early 2011 built May onward do not have this problem it was fixed in the Intel's 6 Series Chipset. (So there is a problem). Cam I have my MacBook Pro fixed please.

After biting the bullet and ordering more RAM, my computer now is working a ton better. So that must have been the main issue. With 8 GB RAM, I can now even run Parallels fluidly (better than my work PC!) where before simple things like logging in to my MBP after reboot could take forever.
The place I went to had several other people getting RAM upgrades at the same time as me, so between this and other comments I've seen in discussions here and elsewhere on the Internets, I take it to mean that either Apple should bump up the base RAM on its new machines, and/or stop charging so much for additional RAM.
I refused to believe a Pro machine bought with Lion installed would come with too little RAM for light to medium usage, but it was apparently the case. I'll mark this as a correct answer and hope some other poor soul will come across this thread and be helped by it.

I am having the exact same problem with the iMessage on both my MacBook pro and my iphone4. It either says the username/password is incorrect or it can not contact the server. Facetime and iCloud works just fine with the same apple id and password. Somebody please help, I am beyond frustrated!
