Anything like Corner Options in InDesign?

Hi,
I'd like to create a shape in Illustrator that can be accomplished in InDesign by drawing a rectangle than choosing Object/Corner otptions/Inverse Rounded. I've attached a screenshot of the shape.
Is there anything in Illustrator like that?

Nope. Illy hasn’t got that feature but there’s still a way:
Draw a regular rectangle.
Draw a circle with the same radius as the radius of the inverse rounding.
Snap its centre to a corner of the rectangle.
Duplicate it 3 times for the other corners.
Make a compound path of the 4 circles.
Select all and Pathfinder (panel) Minus Front.
Sounds laborious maybe but it only takes a jiffy.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

Corner options disappear in PDF

I have corner options on some textboxes in a book I'm designing, but when I create a PDF [PDF/X-4:2008] the effects disappear and the box just become a regular rectangle. Why does this happen?

Sounds like maybe you have CS3 and were using the button tool? You can apply corner effects to a frame and they ought to export just fine. As far as I know, the only difference between an object drawn with the frame tools and one drawn with the shape tools is frames always revert ro no stroke or fill (and no object style) and expect to have an image as content, while shapes can have strokes and fills by default, or an object style, and expect to have no content. Either can have anything placed inside.

HELP! My Corner Options Menu is off of Screen

I've tried restarting my computer, restarting inDesign and resetting my workspace and I can't figure out why my corner options menu goes off of my screen in the upper right hand corner. All I can see is the preview and and OK or CANCEL buttons, can anyone help?!

Try toggling the state of the Application Frame (turn on if you aren't currentloyu using it, or off if you are) and see if that brings the top of the dialog into view so you can grab it and move it. Trashing prefs might help, too. See Replace Your Preferences

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
If installing Leopard the process is similar in some respects. If you wish to begin anew then after selecting the target disk click on the Options button and select the Erase and Install option then click on the OK button. To install over an existing system do the following:

An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.

2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

How do I add adobe Acrobat as a printer option in InDesign?

I purchased a new computer (MAC Book Pro) and am working from Adobe CC. I have the option in both chrome and word and I've always had the option in InDesign before so I am not sure how to add it. I have the Postscript option but I would like the ablility to print directly to PDF for those times where it doesn't want to export. - Thanks

Thanks for your response Steve, but Spier is correct I'm looking to add it as a print driver. I can export to pdf fine but sometimes when that isn't working or if I want the file to be compressed further I do File>Print and chose a printer, usually there is an option for Adobe PDF but the only option I currently have is Postscript. Looks like it was taken away. Thanks everyone!

Disable cut option in Indesign CS5.5

I want to disable CUT option in indesign once document is opened. I have added ActionFilter.cpp in my project and added following code in "FilterAction" function,

Because the red box is not an image. “Image” generally refers to any raster art, like a TIF, JPEG, PSD, or something rasterized with Object > Rasterize or Effect > Rasterize.
If you want everything on the layer to have 25% opacity (100% opacity is fully opaque, as it likely is now) then click on the dot to the right of the layer name (the little donut next to Reflections in my screen shot), then open the Transparency panel and set the opacity to 25%.

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

Ready to switch to mac - buying on Friday - deal breaker though would be that there are no programs like acrobat 9 pro extended that can create pdf files from almost any video file...
