Anything Like Translation Dashboard Widget as iPhone App?

Do any of you know of an iPhone app that works a lot like the Mac's translation Dashboard widget?
Yes, I do know that there are various websites that can perform machine translations, but it would be nice if I could set if up for a particular translation, and have it easy to enter text on the iPhone in particular.

I realized that the iPhone version of Safari let's you keep several windows open (kinda like tabs), so I think having two Google Translate windows open, one set for English-to-Chinese and one the other way, I can quickly crank out such translations, without having to wait for the page to load, set it correctly, etc. I think that will work.

Big BUG in Translation Dashboard Widget, please fixed it!

The Translation Widget using SYSTRAN language Translation Service, but now the translation not works in "English-Simplified Chinese" and "English-Traditional Chinese". When translate English words to Chinese, it can not show Chinese text, and when translate Chinese to English, it shows "undefined" error.
The bug appears in Tiger/Leopard's Translation Dashboard Widget.

Out of curiosity, how did you determine the 10.4/10.5 aspect of the reproducibility of the problem?
On my 10.5.7 system, I don't seem to be experiencing the issue -- I don't read any form of Chinese so I can't say for certain, but with the usual round trip uncertainties, I more or less get back to where I started from. For example:
English: "The bug appears in Tiger/Leopard's Translation Dashboard Widget."
Simplified Han: "臭虫出现于老虎或豹子的转换控制板小部件"
English: "The bug appears in the tiger or leopard's conversion control panel small part."
English: "The bug appears in Tiger/Leopard's Translation Dashboard Widget."
Traditional Han: "臭蟲出現於老虎或豹子的轉換控制板小部件。"
English: "The bug appears in the tiger or leopard's conversion control panel small part."
Simplified Han: "臭虫出现于老虎或豹子的转换控制面板小的部分。"
English: "The bug appears in the tiger or leopard's switching control kneading board small part."
In other words, I don't think it is a bug (programming flaw) in the switching control kneading board small part. Perhaps you have a local configuration issue -- try testing in a fresh account to see if the problem occurs there...

Dashboard Widgets and Opening Apps

Hi, I'm having a hard time with my Dashboard Widgets and opening applications.
With my Dashboard Widgets, I can't click on the "more info" button. So if I put a clock Widget on my Dashboard, I can't change the region since I can't click on the "i" button. Is there anything you can think of as to why this would happen?
Also, whenever I open an application, it always loads in the background, keeping my current app in the foreground. Usually when I open an app, it loads in the foreground over my current app. For example, if I have Finder active and I click on Safari, Finder is still active and Safari loads in the background (inactive). I have to click on Safari to make it appear in the foreground and it's kind of annoying.
I really don't want to do a clean installation of Snow Leopard since that takes a good chuck of time to do. I tried repairing my disk permissions and reinstalled Snow Leopard using the installation disc to see if it would fix important system files but even after that my Dashboard Widgets and app opening problems exist.

I would like to know where I can find a user's guide for beginners, one that I can read and maybe understand the terminology - I am not a tech person and I find I am lost trying to use my iphone 4s. An explanation of the apps and settings would be a BIG HELP - something like a dictionary, defining the terms and terminology.....

I've created a desktop widget - how do I add this to Apple's site to make it available to others? Also, how would I convert it for iphone and make that available on itunes for free download?

How do I get iMessage to activate after having used find my iPhone app?

My husband not realizing he was going to wipe my phone decided to play around with the find my iPhone app. Of course it reset and I lost everything. I restored from a backup and cannot get iMessage to activate. I just keep getting a message awaiting activation. I've tried shutting down the phone, turning iMessage on and off, resetting network settings, logging in and out of apple ID. I let it sit for about 10 hours and that didn't work either. Is there something else I need to try? Anything specific to the find my iPhone app? I really don't want to restore without backup. I've already had issues with the 5 and lost my info on 3 separate occasions. Also can't get iCloud backup to work since I've had the 5. Any help greatly appreciated!!

You can't do anything in the background of iOS. Apps are still one at a time (with a few exceptions like Music), and suspend when the app is closed. It's also against the App Store guidelines to sell apps that would allow such actions.
Though, maybe you could get your Voice Memos saved to MP3's, which can play in the background of other apps.

You can restore your iPad with your iPhone backup but items that are iPhone only will not transfer. It should recreate all your folders. It can't hurt anything to try.

Countdown iPhone app similar to countdown widget?

Hello all,
Our client has approached us to develop an iPhone app similar to the widget we just did, counting down the days/hrs/mins to a big meeting in October.
The widget was obviously dead easy, as we used the template that Apple so kindly provides.
Is there a similar template available for the iPhone, or could anyone point me in the right direction for creating something which at least seems relatively simple? But I'm a little stumped as to where to start. Any help getting started would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sub - There's no template that makes a countdown clock, nor can I think of an Apple sample app that's directly related. The DateCell sample might my helpful. Though it doesn't build a countdown clock, it shows how to use several of the classes that could be used in your project.
To find samples of countdown and alarm clock code, try a web search on keys like 'sdk iphone countdown clock sample code'.
As you'll gather from blogs and forum posts on this subject, you'll have a problem to solve if your client expects some alarm or notification when the zero hour approaches. Legal third party iPhone apps can't run in the background. So unless your app happens to be active when an alarm is needed, there's no way for the app to directly alert the user. The closest you can get to that is by using the new "PUSH" features. So there's another key word you might want to search on.
We might be able to help you more if you post more details about what your client expects the app to do, and what kind of UI you're planning. For instance, the sample at the above link shows how to use UIDatePicker as a calendar. UIDatePicker also includes a countdown mode that would be one way to anchor the UI without making your own shot clock.
If you want to post more details, please also include your skill level. E.g. whether you've ever built an iPhone app. Be sure to also let us know if you'll need to use PUSH, or any other feature that would require communication with a server.
Btw, does your client understand that the only legal way to distribute an iPhone app is by having it accepted for sale in the iTunes store? Several developers here have had to explain this to clients who want a private app which is only distributed to customers or employees.
So there's an overview of things to consider. There's probably going to be lots more to your project than just coding a UI with a countdown clock. But we can certainly help you with that part as soon as we know what that UI should look like.

How do you copy a website html to paste into an iWeb 09 html snippet? Is there a copy command in the Safari browser like when you clip a snippet to make a Dashboard widget? That would be too easy. Do I need some other software for copying the html?

Drag your pointer over the embed code so that it is all highlighted in blue. Then do ⌘C to copy it and then paste it into iWeb's HTML Snippet window by doing ⌘V.

No — Only the general ⌘C and ⌘V editing commands mentioned above.

Does Apple have any plans on making an Iphone app to control Logic Pro like Motu has done for Digital performer? They make it for free which is a HUGE plus!

i was wondering if Apple has any intentions on making an Iphone/Ipad app to remotely control Logic like Motu has for Digital performer. I've been using Touch.OSC, from Hexler. It is not created by Apple but works like a charm on Logic. I've been using the app for over a year both on my iPad and my iPhone. In past, when I connected USB cable it tarted syncing... now it shows grey IPhone so it knows it's connected, but doesn't let me select it. I keeps going to the store and never "responds" so I have to Force Quit each time.
I tried using Bluetooth and it almost worked but then said the iPhone didn't support my MacBook. ?!?
I figure everything is so automated (old term from an old guy) that I've missed something. I miss the Apple 2e's and c's sometimes. I've almost wanted to ask verbally my phone to do it but am holding that adventure until I hear from someone. [ I asked my iPad one time for help and it told me it was busy and ask later.
