Anything new with CF Faxing?

I know there is a lot of dated information in the archives. I
am wondering if there is a relatively new, cheap, easy way for me
to send a fax from my application.
I have a list of four different places that the fax will go.
I want the end user to fill out a simple form online and have the
application email the information to the fax number chosen.
I dont want to subscribe to a service if I can avoid it. The
perils of working for a non-profit company, I guess.

A Google search turned up some good info on this, seems like
you're not
alone! :)
One that I found that seems interesting, is to use RelayFax,
which can scan
a particular email box, and will convert that email to a fax
and send it
out. So all you need to do is use the CFMail (or other mail)
tag and send
it to a local mailserver.
Easy enough......

  • Anything new with keyboard issues in XP

read alot of posts but doesnt appaer to be anything new on keyboard issues in XP. works for awhile then nothing.mouse does work. i dont have an old keyboard around i can use. was hoping it was something to do with XP settings.
    any word ?

I seemed to have the same issues other people were reporting: USB keyboard would disconnect every five minutes or so, would sometimes re-connect by itself, would other times freeze and require re-plugging. The mouse would usually keep working even when plugged into keyboard. This would happen on all USB ports. It was most noticeable in Windows (through Boot Camp and through Parallels), but it would also happen less noticeably in OS X. In OS X, it would often recover without re-plugging, but errors would show up in the Console logs. It seemed to get worse the longer my computer was on.
Turned out, for me at least, to be a faulty keyboard. Although I tested the keyboard on another computer and it was fine, on the Intel iMac it had the disconnection problem. I repaired permissions, verified the disk, reset PRAM, restarted in Safe Boot, but nothing helped.
I called Apple about it. They replaced the keyboard under warranty, and since then (about two weeks) the problem has not occured once, in OS X or in Windows.
If you haven't done so already, I recommend thorough troubleshooting. Disconnect all other peripherals other than the mouse and monitor your logs in OS X (open Console under Utilities) to see if USB errors come up. Boot into in Safe Boot mode by pressing Shift on start-up. If the error still comes up in OS X, as it did in my case, then you have a valid problem you can call Apple about. If it happens only in Windows, unfortunately it might be harder to make a case since Boot Camp is beta software. When you call Apple you can desscribe all the testing you already did.
    (are you still under warranty?)

  • Anything new with the error "0" problem?

    Hi all
OK -- here's what I've got: brand spankin new G5 dual core 2.3. -- totally virgin top to bottom. Updated all the way. Brand new install of Final Cut Studio crossgrade -- the latest and greatest -- also updated all the way. Everything here is squeaky clean -- no stray code floating around anywhere from any previous applications.
SO -- the problem is the (I have discovered) dirty little Apple secret that Compressor 2.1.whatever does not like dual processor machines --- every time I try to encode something to mpeg2 it goes a while and then gives me the "quicktime error 0" message.
I've done quite a bit of digging around in these message boards and have only found some older posts claiming that a certain Apple download patch will allow you to shut off one processor -- and then Compressor will work properly.
Is this still the latest way to do it? Those posts were several months old -- hard to believe Apple hasn't addressed the issue properly since then. Am I missing something?? Has this problem been corrected -- and maybe it's some other conlict I'm having?
Only other thing on my system at this time is a couple of Lacie big disk extremes -- but they don't "seem" to be creating any disturbance in the Compressor force.
    What gives??

    Hi Mikey
I'll give it a try and post back. Might be a couple of days. What we should do is organize a mob and chant in front of Apple headquarters. Can't believe they'd have current software that won't work with current machines -- and vice versa. But then again, they did it with the Geforce Macs that would not work with FCP 4.5 (without a shaky little hack).
Probably next they'll come up with a new "encoding solution" for all Macs -- but it will cost a couple of hundred bucks or so.
Anyway enough griping -- will post again after doing a test.

  • Anything new with Smart Web Printing working with IE9?

I've been following posts regarding compatability of Smart Web Printing with IE9. Has there been any progress in this area?

    Thanks, Twinkie3
I have it installed just fine on my x64 Windows 7 system running the 32 bit version of IE9.  I do not remember the details, but I think I had problems downloading the file in IE9 and I downloaded it with Chrome and then ran it and installed it in IE9.

I am new with iMac and I am trying to copy some file from my external HDD that a used with my PC but it does not let me also I can't delete anything from this HDD using the finder. Can somebody help me , please?

No, unfortunately, when you format a drive, it will erase all the contents. So you will need to find a temporary "storage" place to put the stuff using a PC so you have access to it. Then reformat using Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities). If only using with mac, format Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and use GUID Partition scheme under Partitions/Options. After formatting, you can drag the files back.

I have a new email address. Changed this on my itunes account. On iPhone deleted old icloud account and created new with new email. I have set find my phone to on. When I download music from itunes it no longer goes to icloud an does not show up on my iphone.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • Anything new on temp issues on the 24 IMac's??

Got a question not necessarily an issue and I've researched it quite extensively on the net. Finding ambiguous data concerning this and if possible I'd like the feedback from you folks before calling AppleCare.
After buying my new 24 inch IMac and setting it up, I noticed the aluminum case upper corners and middle upper edge was becoming hot enough to pique my interest. I realized immediately that the aluminum case would be conducting heat more than my older IMac 17 which has the acrylic case.
I was concerned enough to find a temp widget called IStat Pro and download it to physically check the operating temps inside the case as well as the fan speeds.
The temps seem normal and are all in double figures with the CPU average around 50c. The bridges also are in double digits which seem normal enough.
My concern is that the case itself is apparently absorbing a whale of a lot of internal heat and seems to be functioning as a planned heat sink for the unit.
I'm assuming that the engineers at Apple have given the internal temps the thought it deserves and that my worries are ill advised.
I can't explain exactly why this continues to bug me, but as a commercial pilot I'm well aware that heat and avionics are mortal enemies and eventually cause issues in solid state circuits.
I guess what I'm doing here with my post is simply asking if there have been issues reported with the 2.66 IMac 24's and whether there might be a downside to the external case temps as time passes.
Thanks much for any insight into the temp issue. Be aware I've searched the forums and have read what I could find here. Just wondering if anyone has anything new to report.

This way you get a better overall idea. If you really think it's running too hot, you have 14 days from purchase to either have it repaired or replaced.
If it were me, I'd talk to an Apple representative about this heat issue. You can Google for this information and it's amazing on how many hits come up.
I just ran iStat on my iMac but it's the 2.66 20"... CPU is 1199 HD 1199 Optical drive 998
But mine never gets hot like you are talking about, warm but not hot.
I'm not running any CPU intensive apps for those numbers. May climb a tad when I have iTunes running....

  • Anything new about abap web dynpro?

    Hi out there!
(First, I'm sorry: I know, this question is related to Web AS General-forum, but I think, I wouldn't get any answer there.)
Is there anything new about abap web dynpro? Just saying wait for nw05? No nice preview/minisap/promotion? Perhaps documents in service.sap.com? I read, it is used in some ramp-ups for ecc 05 (neither knowing, what it is). Is there nothing to say about? Is it drag&drop deployment like java webdynpro or more coding like mvc-"Basteln" in abap/bsp? Are BSP-Extensions used there? Something exiting new?
That are enougth questions for starting.

Brian McKellar is gonna lock this thread:-)
Anyway you can find some info about WebDynpro for ABAP in the Teched 2003 presentations in SDN and there is a quite detailed overview with examples in the Online help.
For the linux version of NW'04 MiniSAP the non-supported version ABAP Dynpro is available....anyway for MiniSAP you don't get support;-)

    Ps: "Something exiting new?"
The whole thing is something really exiting!!!

Time Capsule error 22 - My time capsule was working fine and didn't notice anything wrong with it until it stopped backing up about two weeks ago. I never changed anything like computer names or the Airport settings. All I get is the following:

If the light will not turn on the TC is dead. No matter that the hard disk is running.. it should only run at start up or when it is accessed not constantly.. that means the board in the TC has failed. Apple do not repair them.. They will replace it under warranty or applecare.
If you have gone over the 12month warranty it will still be covered if you have applecare on any computer or an Apple TV. In fact the cost of the apple TV plus apple care is still cheaper than buying a new TC.. so it is a route some people are taking.. certainly depends.. in some places like Europe or Australia now, there is a recognition that statutory warranty must be longer on a product that is premium to the market. 12months is not good enough. Apple will sometimes listen.
They might be fixable but I do not know how.

  • Anything wrong with it?

So I'm going to college next year, and I need a new computer. I'm going into Architecture, so I need a more powerful machine, and this looks like to be it. But before I buy it...
Is there anything wrong with it?
Any defects, or things to be aware of?
Do you think they'll be any changes with the it between now and July?
    Anything will help, thanks!

    hello,
like all computers, the MacBook Pro "may" have problems, and a quick review of these boards might point to some serious issues with OS X 10.5 and the MBP hardware. But keep in mind that Apple fans are very serious about disseminating their issues on these forums, and that the overwhelming majority of users that do not write here should be assumed to be happy with their purchase (happy people don't write on forums about being happy with their machines, generally).
I have had 5 Apple computers over the last 3 years, 3 macbooks and 2 macbook pros, I need the raw power for my work and my gaming interests, and to be honest, it's not cheap. But you get quality in ways of consistency of performance, ergonomics (usability), integrity of software, very low odds of getting issues like viruses, crashes, etc., and lots of nice eye-candy and frivolous features.
I love my Apple products. I used PC systems running mostly DOS, Windows, and Linux over the last 25 years, and I have no doubts that I will stick to Macs for the next few years at the very least.
I highly recommend the MacBook Pro, get the 15 inches entry-level machine in the Pro series if you have budget issues, they are pricey. It comes with no less functionalities than the other two upper models, and you should be able to even get a discount on the Education Store (or from any Apple Store with student ID). I also recommend the AppleCare extended coverage, I only took it as I also got a discount on the plan (I'm still in university eheh), and while I was skeptical, 3 years of warranty far outweighs the additional cost (for students at least).
I also recommend the bluetooth mouse that Apple sells, it's much more useful and precise than a touchpad, particularly for your architecture endeavors. If you can, max out the RAM by buying it from a 3rd party, Apple sells ridiculously overpriced RAM as upgrades. I started with 2 GB, and paid 100$ more to go to 4 GB (as opposed to 1000$ from Apple).
One warning: if you don't need it now, wait until right before your school starts, buying a little later might get you an updated version of any Apple computer, as they tend to upgrade without warning once or twice a year. If you are not familiar with OS X, try it before you start your school projects though, you might split hair if you are unfamiliar with the basic commands and tricks of the operating system. You can also install Windows XP and or Vista with little difficulty in order to run most industry software that is not compatible with OS X, either natively (install Windows on its own partition on the hard disk), or as a virtualization (slower but convenient), or both.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
    Cheers,
    Dr Sly

  • Problem with sharing fax modem on Lion Server

I have a Zoom USB modem attached to a Mini server running Lion Server.  The fax works fine when sent from the server.  But when I send a fax to the server (as a shared fax) from my MacBook Pro, the fax shows up on the Server queue with no fax number.  Within a second the "Status" changes to "Completed".  The fax is not sent.  Any ideas?

The server system works so leave that alone.
On your client machine try this. My system sees the Zoom as 'USB Modem @ servername'
Delete the entry for your zoom modem from Printers and Scanners. It probably reads something like USB Modem @ servername.
Add your modem again. Instead of Selecting USB Modem @ servername from the list, choose Add other printer or scanner. In the Add Printer dialog box select USB Modem @ servername. Type a new name in the name box. This time use only letters numbers and dashes. Don't use spaces or special characters. It appears that the spaces or special characters is causing the error. On my computer I entered modem-servername.
If this works for you be sure to enter a defect report at apple.

Thanks for your advice, I went to the apple shop today for a face to face meeting with a tech and he checked everything and could not figure out why I was having this problem so we decided to give up on that account and create a whole new one for me using a different email address.
Now I can download apps on both my iPhone and ipad2.
If anyone is reading this in Brisbane Australia go to the Chermside apple shop and ask for Wade. He was fantastic!

  • Anything wrong with tr , td , etc.

Is there fundamentally anything wrong with mixing HTML with JSF tags? For instance, putting <tr> and <td> within a <h:panel_grid>? I am converting a very large application and want to get a prototype done quickly and only want to use JSF tags where they make sense for now. I will find my own answers soon enough but I want to lean on your understanding as well.

    bradp,
For the most part, you can mix and match freely. The only issue is when you want to nest tags inside of a control like <panel_grid> or <data_table>. If you really really want to use HTML there, you can use the <verbatim> tag. For <panel_grid>, I would recommend trying not to use HTML tags -- you can nest <panel_grid> tags quite flexibly. See my earlier post on the <verbatim> tag for examples.
