Anything video related wont open or play.

The camera app wont even open. The icon lights up and then stays that way until you tap on another icon or some period of time passes and it gives up. The videos app will start to open but doesn't get passed the load screen. You tube will open, search and show more info but the videos will not play.
Any advice would be appreciated. I will post anything I find out on my own. Thanks
Post relates to: Treo 680 (Cingular)

Have you tried any Resets?  Soft, warm, or Hard?
Was the phone damaged in any way?  Water or moisture?
Any software installed recently that coincides with the problem?

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Flash Video Won't Open and Play in Online Site

When I upload my Flash Video files to the online server, the HTML page opens but the Flash Video doesn't open and play.  If I open the HTML page in preview mode in Dreamweaver CS5, the HTML page opens and the Flash Video plays OK.  I have tried using the Adobe Media Encoder to produce the FLV file as well as tried exporting the FLV from Adobe Premiere CS 5.5, but neither makes any difference.  The Flash Video still doesn't play when files are uploaded to the site online.  I have also tried using different versions of Flash Professional to create and publish the SWF movie file, but nothing I try seems to make the Flash Video open and play online.  The test site I have set up is http://www.hgatest.org then you can click the “video” link to open the Flash Video. Video HTML page URL is http://www.hgatest.org /video.html   You can then see what I am talking about.  Please help.  This just started happening about 6 months ago and it has been driving me crazy.  Any ideas will be helpful.  Thanks, Joe K.

  • Firefox wont open or play all the videos ... in other web browsers it works just fine

Tried refreshing, deleting temporary files, offline files, cookies ... even tried reinstalling Firefox 4.0 beta 8 to Firefox 4.0 beta 10 ... then tried to update all the plugins - shockwave, java, flash, widows media plugin, realplayer plugin ... adobe reader also and the problem still remains

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • TS1717 iTunes cd blue wont open,or play why?

I purchased cd blue by Leann rimes.  It did the billing twice.  I can not get the cd to play.  I tried to delete like apple support suggested, that did not work.  Was told to go to apple store, they couldn't help.  Please help me.  I am new at this IPAD.  Thank you.  Do you also call as in talk?   Thanks again.  SH

To check the formating you can open Disk Utility, select the drive and along the bottom left it will tell you how the drive is formatted. Or you could right click on the drive (control + click) and get info and this will tell you how it's formatted. You want Mac OS Extended (or Mac OS Extended Journaled). I should image that it is formated this way if you have been using it for some time. However, you mention that you have been using it for 3 or 4 years but your computer is a MacBook- which hasn't been out that long! So what else has changed? What make/brand USB drive do you have? Does it have it's own power supply? Can you copy large files over to it without a problem, in other words- is it only iMovie that doesn't like the drive? Has it worked on the MacBook before? What other USB devices are you using (for the record, Firewire would be a much better choice for video editing). Besides that, for general trouble shooting, I would repair permissions, reset the PRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238) and possibly the SMC (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319). It would be a good idea to test the drive and power supply on the "original" computer where you know it works- a bad power supply can give you problems. And of course check the USB cable by trying another that is known to be OK. Finally, if you have Disk Warrior, I would run that as well!

Try opening iTunes in a different Windows user account first, to see if it is a user profile problem or system-wide.

  • BOOKS WILL NOT OPEN OR PLAY

BOOKS WILL NOT OPEN OR PLay
using itunes10 and purchased audio books but they wont open or play!

Are you positive they are in mp3 format? Try using MediaInfo Mac and get the codec description. It should say MPEG Layer III or something similar.
Will the files play in Quicktime?
iTunes has been known to not play some mp3 files, but we should ascertain first these are definitely mp3. If they truly are then sometimes the free utility MP3 Scan+Repair has been known to fix issues.

  • I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?

I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?
    Detail:
I've recently purchaced a 4TB Thunderbolt drive to store my "vast" music and photo libraries. iPhoto had an issue reading the moved library, so I bought and used iPhoto Library Manager to "rebuild" it. Apart from much of the original data such as date taken & camera used etc, it appears to be working well. The aforementioned mpg video was taken some 9 years ago, using an early model "iMate" smart phone, and opens and plays fine on iPhoto, but I cannot open it with anything else, (I've tried iMovie, VLC players, Wondershare and Handbrake) nor can I share it. I just want to edit it, and share it with family.
    Any help would be appreciated...

No - not iMovie, VLC, Wondershare or Handbrake... Quick time starts with a "CONVERTING", then I get
I've looked at the "tell me more" links, tried downloading some of the movie players there. I'm begining to think the file is corrupt.
Thanks for getting back to me again though - appreciate it...

    Hello Wade,
This is typically indicative of an issue with the installation of QuickTime on your computer. The following article provides steps for reinstalling QuickTime to resolve the issue.
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
    Resolution
QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP and Windows 2000: Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel and selectQuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Uninstall a program (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click Programs and Features) and select QuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Click the Remove button (or Uninstall for Windows Vista and Windows 7) and follow the prompts to remove QuickTime from your computer.
Download QuickTime. Note: There are two options for downloading QuickTime, be sure to select the option that does not include iTunes.
    During the download:
If you choose to run the installer, proceed to the next step.
If you choose to save the download, double click the QuickTimeInstaller file, then proceed to next step.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickTime.
    Reopen iTunes.
