Anything wrong with the iPhone

im thinking about getting an iphone, maybe around christmas but not now, but does anyone have any problems with it? bad internet connections? bad service from AT&T? is the phone lacking anything that would make it better? should i wait until a second iphone comes out or should i go ahead and get this one? any problems you have would help with my decision.

Yes Nicole, that is right.... there are many Web 2.0 apps popping up on the internet, and daily. Some of them are useful (IM apps that allow iChat functionality), some are wacky and amusing, some are fun (games).
I also don't send MMS picture txt messages. I'd rather email, personally
It's difficult to say exactly how Apple will handle software updates, but yes, they will be free (they don't charge for these).
Software updates may (i say 'may') bring functionality to the iPhone such as iChat or a new widget....or perhaps add featuers like cut/copy/paste or file storage or editing.
3G is the latest FAST wireless network used by most cell carriers (or starting to be used by most carriers) for cell phones. The reason why Apple choose not to use 3G right now (Smart move, by the way), is because of power drain on the batter, design issues and the lack of 3G everywhere.
Right now, the slower (yet perfectly usable) EDGE network, (sometimes referred to as 2.5G) is available just about anywhere you have AT&T (Cingular) coverage.
I live in a big city and i have perfect coverage just about everwhere i go. If i'm stuck in traffic, i can pull up Google Maps/Traffic or open Safari and go to: sigalert.com and find a new route.
If i need to lookup a business, i can use google maps and get the phone, address, web info and connect the phone call very easily.
These are just a couple of the nice features
Remember, do some homework and find out if you have good AT&T coverage in the areas you'll be using the iPhone, such as work, home, school, friends, public, highways, towns, etc.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

My iPhone 5 charges very slow last night before i went to sleep it was 40% I woke up this morning and its 67% is there anything wrong with the phone ?

This has just happened 2 days ago I would put my phone on charge then id take it off and my iPhone would turn off and say its not charged so I connected my iPhone to my laptop and reset it to a new iPhone ever sins I've done that its not turned off but now it's not charging went to bed with it at 40% now wake up and it's 60% , is there a problem with my phone

Starting to wonder if the iPhone's been hacked into. The Iphone was working perfectly fine just a short time ago...only 48 hours ago. I never saw a screen on the front of the front of the phone which showed an iTunes Icon at the top of the screen and a cord going down to the bottom of the screen before. I cannot use the phone, get online to get to the internet, take photos of anything.
The phone was working perfectly the day it started working very very strangely and I was able to use the phone, see the time of day, take photos, get online, etc.
How do you fix the phone? I am not going to "restore" the phone & get ALL my info, photos & everything deleted!
Think we need to change the phone number because we also got a strange phone call from a phone number we never saw before!
Need some help. as I'm sure people CAN hack into smartphones.

It's in recovery mode. It's tryijng to tell you to plug it into iTunes and restore it.

Is there something wrong with the iPhone calc app?

The other day I needed to show my son how many paper punch cards would be needed to compete with the flash memory on my iPhone 4. Each punch card had 480 spaces on it, that could correspond to bits. In order to work out how many punch cards would be needed, I had to first figure out how many bits there were in 32Gb. The following calculation needs to be done in landscape mode, otherwise you ae unable to see the numbers properly on the display.
8 x 1024 x 1024 x 1024 x 32 = 274,877,906,944
Now for the interesting bit.
If I divide the amount of bits held in a 32Gb by the amount of bits on the old paper punch card I should get - 572,662,306.1333333333 recurring cards required.
Strangely the iPhone calc app believes that the number is just shy of 6 cards at 5.7266230613333e+8.
Now I know this is not some strange scientific notation because if I divide by a whole number such as 100 or 400, etc... then it gets the answer right. Further more with really big numbers, the iPhone calc app seems to loose the plot and provide incorrect answers. Other apps I have for calculation get the answer right, but not the iphone app.
Before anyone points out that Flash storage is done in 1000Mb's instead of 1024Mb's, I know. I was just doing a demonstration based on the actual figure of 32Gb, using the correct numbers based on a binary base. Storage manufacturers often use this as there manufacturing techniques do not work in the same way as the maths.
Anyone else seen this problem, and if so, what strange numbers can we get, highlighting the problem, so that it gets fixed in the next update. I think I shall have to try this out in Numbers on the iPhone, see if the problem is there to. As a passing shot I feel that this is a fundamental problem that needs to be addressed, and relatively quickly.

Amazing...yet again an excuse for a 16 digit display that is incapable of displaying 572 million.... But funnily enough it will display something proper when divided by 400, or in other words, it resorts to moron system and prints '687,194,767.36'. Maybe we should all write everything in scientific notation...and forget this silly simplistic system of using numbers and commas to designate large numbers. For all you scientific types, they are no longer millionaires, no they will just be renamed "1.0e+6's". Even better, we could rename millionaires row, to something scientific. Yeah I can see that taking off.

What is wrong with the iPhone 5 chargers

Does anyone know who I can contact about a complaint? It's about those **** IPhone five chargers.
In less than a year that I have had my iPhone 5 I have gone through four chargers. All of which have stopped working for no reason. Just out of nowhere they stop.
No matter where I got the charger from, apple stores, amazon, the local Mini mart. They have all just stopped. It's now gotten to the point where I am fed up.
I have bills to pay, an apartment, loans from school, things for my needs. I barely make 9 an hour. Barely 200 a week. I need this phone and to have to buy a charger over and and over is ridiculous. I have gone a whole month without my phone because the charger died and I didn't have the money for it.
My iPhone 4 charger lasted a couple of years. Why is it that the 5's can't make it a few months with out breaking? I keep good care of them. They're always in the same place everyday. I live with just my boyfriend who I know isn't breaking them. So what's the deal?
Is this only happening to me?

I've had my iPhone 5 since the day it was released, I charge it every day, and still have the same cord it came with. It looks pristine. Not sure why yours have failed, but if many have, and not just ones made by Apple, it would defiintely appear that user error is to blame.
As the cable comes with the same warranty as the iPhone, not sure why you felt compelled to purchase multiple 3rd party cords when you could have just returned the original cable for free replacecment. Oh, but then you couldn't carry on and embarrass yourself in a public forum.

What is wrong with the iphone 4 contacts?

On the 3gs there is an alphabet that goes down the right side of the screen and the contacts are all kind of displayed in alphabetical order with their corosponding letter above that group(like the ipod artist and song view). but on the iphone 4 there is nothing, just all the contacts bunched up? Is this normal?

mine are in alphabetical order and have letters going down the side seems like you have a software glitch
first thing I would try is rebooting hold the sleep/wake switch and home button until you see the white apple logo appear
if that doesnt work restore from backup and see if its fixed and if that doesnt work restore as new not from a backup and see if its fixed
all that fails you may need to take it into a apple genius bar

I was able to build a working package.
Maybe I should have tried it without a new amarok.install but I just made everything that was suggested in the error message

Anything wrong with the app wedict-pro 2.0.1 ?

I just purchased that app. It supposed to have the Eng-Viet Viet-Eng dict and it does. But when I typed the word it only tranlated into Chinese and English. I also checked the setting and dictionaries and nothing wrong. I marked all the dictionnaries include the Eng-Viet Viet-Eng, so I don't know what's going on with that app , please help

Either the app will give a website or other information about the developer (typically in settings for that app) or go to the App Store and it will give a website. If you go to your purchase history/receipt for that purchase it has instruction of who to contact abut problems.

What's wrong with the audio in .avi exports?

I've been trying to export a 30-second flash animation to an .avi format, but it seems like regardless of the settings I choose, the audio comes out crackly.
It's not even consistent. If I export it again with the exact same settings, it's crackly in a different place, though usually on the same two clips (one's a .wav and one's an mp3). But sometimes everything's crackly. I can't find anything wrong with the raw audio clips.
What am I missing here? Thanks in advance for your responses.

if you want the peaks to stay, right click on the audio meter and choose static peaks.

try exiting the app and double clicking the home button. the multitasking apps will show up. delete all of them by holding them down and pushing the red circle (dont worry that doesnt remove them from the phone, just completely closes the app and makes your device run faster) then power off your phone by holding down thw lock button and sliding the red arrow when it comes up. wait about 5 seconds after its completely off and turn it back on. then try using the mic. hope this helps

Fixing this is a two step process:
1) System preferences > WiFi/Airport ...
... check [√] Ask to join new networks
"Known networks will be joined automatically.
If no known networks are available, you will
be asked before joining a new network."
2) Remove unwanted networks from the list of "known" networks under
System preferences > WiFi/Airport > (Advanced) > | Airport/WiFi pane ...
Close the window and save changes. If no joy, do a restart to ensure you are playing under the new rules.

I use an external hard drive as a Time Machine back up, but I want to use another external hard drive to save movies, photos on it, but it won't give me the option to save anything on the new external hard drive. Nothing is wrong with the external hard.
