Anyway of connecting a PCMCIA module to a NB100 netbook?

Hi!
I have a few PCMCIA expensive modules that I would like to use with my new netbook. For example, a TV decoder + video input that costed me about 100 Euro. The NB100 has no PCMCIA slot, of course.
I wonder if I could get some type of adaptor from PCMCIA to USB 2 or to SD slot. Do you know of any?
Thank you...

Thank you. i notice it might not be a goo idea; there seems tobe no such an universal adapter; some PCMCIA modules work, others don't. Those adapters are mostly designed for 3G mobile modems and the like. (not my case)

    Go here and search on PC_Card. Be aware that Rev. C (makes hens teeth seem common) of the PCMCIA module is necessary if you upgrade to a PPC processor.
    You may also need card-specific software for any given PC card.

    Is there anyway to connect iphone to other devices via bluetooth.like nokia and other phones

    No
    Bluetooth is supported for stereo headsets/speakers, handsfree telephone devices/headsets, some keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store, and tethering where provided by the carrier.
    Other than this, it will not connect to any computer/phone/device.

  • Can you Connect Cisco switch modules for to N2K?

    I have not seen anything about connecting Cisco Switch modules for Blade Chassis to fex.  Does anybody now if you can do that?
    thank you.

    thank you Lucien.
    I think you got a right name for N2Ks, a NIC card extender.  In my opion N2K should be able to support Blade switches. Not every company has just rack mount servers, most enviroment is mixed. In my case, I run out ports on N5K, but plenty available on N2K.  I want add two more blade centers with gig switch modules in them. now I have to buy a N5K!!!.  I'm sure Cisco can make N2K to support switches too.

  • CONNECTION TO THE MODULE IS BROKEN

    i am using FP-1600 with DO-AC-240 after two or three write operation to the FP-DO-AC240 module field point explorer give the error "CONNECTION TO THE MODULE IS BROKEN".error message comes with FP-RLY-422 module also.why?

    Vinod,
    Noticing that you are using both FP-DO-AC240's and FP-RLY-422's, I am assuming that you are attempting to switch AC voltage through the FP-RLY-422 module. I am further assuming that you are controlling an AC motor or solenoid or similiarly high inductive load. With high inductive loads, turning the power off results in a large spike of voltage, generated by the inductor (such as the solenoid) to be driven back along the circuit. These spikes, can have a number of effects on electronics. They can cause the the network module to temporarily lose communications with the I/O module, or in some cases can be so severe as to cause damage to a module.
    If you were to measure the control lines with an oscilliscope, you are likely to see spikes that can be mo
    re than 1000 Volts. We do have circuitry in the modules to help minimize the spikes (these spikes are known as back-EMF). Occasionally, however, the spikes are so large that our built-in protection is not enough. I recommend using an AC snubbing device such as a Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) to reduce the back-EMF being seen in your circuit. Reducing the back-EMF will solve the temporary communications loss you are seeing.

  • Crystal Report Connectivity to Function module

    Hi,
    I have a crystal report which is connected to a Function module in ECC(dev). After the function module moved to Quality I could repoint the crystal database to Quality. Later, some changes were made in the function module fields (eg: change in field length etc) by the field names were kept same. now when i try to repoint the database it says field not found and the report canvas becomes blank. but I can see the fields in the field explorer.
    is there a way to correct the error?
    Thanks, Arka

    Hi Arka,
    When you open the report then log into the DB and then click on Database, Verify Database. This should update the database info and changes in the report. CR keeps track of the DB it's connecting to so if you make s changes you must Verify the database to update the info in the RPT file also. Be sure to save the report.

  • Web Start - Can't Connect To App Modules

    Has anyone had the problem of on being able to connect to their application modules deployed to Ora AS 10g when using web start? We can successfully use the tester on our local and deployed configurations for the app modules. We can also successfully run our JClient application locally and use our app modules deployed on the app server (and locally). We recently upgraded our containers from jdev 9.0.5.2 level to 10.1.2 level. Here is the stack trace I get:

  • Anyway to connect to wireless network

    Hi
    Is there anyway in which i can connect my G4 Powerbook running 10.2.8 to my wireless network, my current network is using WPA encryption which i know is the problem. Is there any software solution? I do have a copy of Panther winging its way to me that i know is compatible, but its going to take a week or so and i really need to get connected.
    Cheers
    Karl

    Karl,
    Is there anyway in which i can connect my G4 Powerbook running 10.2.8 to my wireless network, my current network is using WPA encryption which i know is the problem.
    No, not with the AirPort (Extreme) card. As you know, at least Mac OS X 10.3 is needed in this case. You could connect an appropriate wireless Ethernet bridge (also known as a gaming adapter) with WPA support to the Ethernet port of the computer. Alternatively, you could try a wired Ethernet connection to the base station (router).
    Is there any software solution?
    No, probably not. The only way would be to temporarily set the base station to WEP security (normally, not recommended).

  • BC4J: How get Connection from Application Module

    I've written a custom method for my Application Module for using by the client tier. In this method I call a JPUblisher created class, that accesses a PL/SQL procedure. For this JPublisher created class I need a connection context. The class calls DefaultContext.getDefaultContext() but that seems to be null.
    How can I get the current Connection of the Application Module, so that I can create a DefaultContext?
    Unfortunately Transaction has no getConnection method.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    We don't make the Connection directly available because in some sense it's a rope on which you can hang yourself if you are not careful. Since BC4J AppModules are most often used from a pool, and you might be using connection pooling in addition to application module pooling, in general it is not safe to get hold of the raw JDBC connection and "hang onto it".
    If you make careful use to always get the current JDBC connection before you use it, and not try to cache it, then you should be ok. Often, you can avoid the need to get the raw JDBC connection by calling getDBTransaction().createPreparedStatement(...) or the analogous createCallableStatement() or createStatement() that are also on the DBTransaction interface.
    Here is a little function you can add to your application module impl class to retrieve the Connection:
      private Connection getCurrentConnection() {
        Statement st = null;
        try {
          st = getDBTransaction().createStatement(0);
          return st.getConnection();
        catch (SQLException s) {
          s.printStackTrace();
          return null;
        finally {
          if (st != null) try { st.close(); } catch (SQLException s2) {}
      }It basically creates a (dummy) statement, gets the current connection from the statement, then closes the statement.
    I tried using this in a custom method in an AppModuleImpl class that invoked a JPublisher-create package-wrapper class like this:
      public void callStoredProc() {
        try {
          // Empservice is package wrapper class created by JPublisher
          Empservice e = new Empservice(getCurrentConnection());
          BigDecimal sal = e.lookupsalary(new BigDecimal(7369));
          System.out.println(sal);
        catch (SQLException s) {
          s.printStackTrace();
      }and it works for me.

  • External Hard Drive Connected via PCMCIA

    I am going to upgrade the hard drive on my laptop. One step involves transferring the info from my present IDE hard drive to the upgrade IDE hardrive. The upgrade IDE hard drive will be in a hard drive adaptor that is connected via a PCMCIA slot.
    I presume (and certainly hope) there will be no drama, with the kernel recognizing the external hard drive as /dev/hdX, given all of the relevant PCMCIA features are enabled.
    If somone has done this and encountered any gotchas, I would appreciate the intel.
    Regards, Rick

    Perhaps no one replied to the original post because the answer is embarassingly simple. All one needs is the device driver ide-cs, which is not present in the package kernel-scsi. The upgrade hard drive becomes /dev/hde.
    The software aspects turned out to be a bit more challenging, but that is the subject of another post.

  • Probs connecting through PCMCIA USB 2.0 card

    Hi,
    Looking to see if others are having this problem, and hopefully someone who's resolved it:
    I have no problems connecting iTunes to my iPod (60G) using the built-in USB 1.1 port on my laptop, other than it's a terribly slow connection. I bought a USB 2.0 CardBus (PCMCIA) PC Card Adapter from CompUSA (I believe this uses a NEC USB chipset), and can't get the iPod to connect through that port. I can successfully use other devices using that card - USB mouse, and USB memory keys - no problems at all.
    I'm running Windows XP Home SP2 on a Dell Inspiron - I mention this, as I've noticed a few other posts around the internet various problems with PCMCIA cards on Dell laptops, and perhaps it's relevant.
    The first few times I tried this, I was getting a BSOD with a "BADPOOLHEADER" error. Tried rebooting several times, same thing. After running the 5R's (all of them, which took quite a while on the USB 1.1 port), I no longer get the BSOD. However, when I connect the iPod to one of the USB 2.0 ports in the card, I'll get:
    a "Do not disconnect" message on the iPod, and a "Removable Disk (F:)" icon shows up in a My Computer window, but iTunes can't make a connection to the iPod. Sometimes the Do Not disconnect message goes away, and the iPod returns to it's normal menu, and sometimes it just keeps the message there (even when I disconnect the USB cable - which then forces me to reset the iPod).

    Hi,
    Looking to see if others are having this problem, and
    hopefully someone who's resolved it:
    I have no problems connecting iTunes to my iPod (60G)
    using the built-in USB 1.1 port on my laptop, other
    than it's a terribly slow connection. I bought a USB
    2.0 CardBus (PCMCIA) PC Card Adapter from CompUSA (I
    believe this uses a NEC USB chipset), and can't get
    the iPod to connect through that port. I can
    successfully use other devices using that card - USB
    mouse, and USB memory keys - no problems at all.
    I'm running Windows XP Home SP2 on a Dell Inspiron -
    I mention this, as I've noticed a few other posts
    around the internet various problems with PCMCIA
    cards on Dell laptops, and perhaps it's relevant.
    The first few times I tried this, I was getting a
    BSOD with a "BADPOOLHEADER" error. Tried rebooting
    several times, same thing. After running the 5R's
    (all of them, which took quite a while on the USB 1.1
    port), I no longer get the BSOD. However, when I
    connect the iPod to one of the USB 2.0 ports in the
    card, I'll get:
    a "Do not disconnect" message on the iPod, and a
    "Removable Disk (F:)" icon shows up in a My Computer
    window, but iTunes can't make a connection to the
    iPod. Sometimes the Do Not disconnect message goes
    away, and the iPod returns to it's normal menu, and
    sometimes it just keeps the message there (even when
    I disconnect the USB cable - which then forces me to
    reset the iPod).
    yeah go ahead dude!
    At least notebook users will not suffer anymore due to the wrong card selection...
