Anyway to get 3.0 beta now if i pay?

is there a safe, legal way of getting 3.0 beta now? can i pay to have it registered or anything?

The only legal way to get the iPhone 3.0 beta is to sign up for and be accepted to Apple's iPhone developer program.

Unless you intend to develop applications for the iPhone, I suggest you just be patient and wait for the official release of the 3.0 OS like everyone else. The beta is a beta for a reason; it's not finished and is hence missing features and has bugs.

Depending upon what country that you are in (and if you haven't changed countries since buying it and it's still in your store) then you might be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone.
You should also be regularly connecting your phone to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so as to copy all of your downloads over so that you can take a backup copy of them (and preferably taking a backup of the phone if you have any important documents and/or photos on it) - apps and other downloads could also be potentially be removed from a country's store at any time, so you may not be able to redownload them either.

  • HT4859 I backedup iphone 4 and iphone 5 to icloud. I need contacts from the ipone 4 backup but I do not have that phone anymore and icloud will only let me restore the iphone 5's backups now. Is there anyway to get the contacts from my previous iphone 4?

I backedup my iphone 4 to the cloud before upgrading to an iphone 5. I also backedup my iphone 5 to icloud. I can see both phone's backups side by side on the my screen on icloud. But it will not allow me to restore the iphone 4 backup to my iphone 5.  I need contacts from the iphone 4 backup but I do not have that phone anymore and icloud will only let me restore the iphone 5's backups to my iphone 5. Is there anyway to get the contacts from my previous iphone 4 backup?

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup.  If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup.  You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone.  However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

What happened to your phone that you are trying to restore to a backup that is encrypted? If you have your contacts in iCloud, you can just turn iCloud back on when you get the phone working, if it isn't, and that will bring your contacts back. You won't need to do a restore from an iCloud backup if you were not doing an iCloud backup anyway. If you log into www.icloud.com and look at contacts, what do you see there?

  • Is there anyway to get an App Tab to stay when I close the program then reopen it?...they always disappear when I open a new window etc.

Is there anyway to get an App Tab to stay when I close the program then reopen it?...they always disappear when I open a new window etc.
And I thought the whole point of an App Tab was to always have those tabs there no matter what window is open all the time period.
It's a minor complaint but I would really appreciate the option to permanently have them there.

I thought that app tabs would be more persistent, like pinning programs to the taskbar in Windows, but this is not the case.
Instead, once you close a Firefox window, all its tabs and app tabs are lost.
Essentially, this means that the close button in the upper-left corner of a Firefox window is now a "kill all open tabs and loose all App Tabs without warning++ " button. That is not cool.
I realize that "Firefox > Quit Firefox" behaves as intended, but many people use the more obvious red close button instead of the menu to close windows on a Mac. And it is easy to forget that the red button is now also an app-tab-death button. I've lost my app tabs many times to this issue. It is an unforgiving user interface decision which hampers the usability of app tabs. Why should I go through the extra clicks of setting up app tabs if I can loose them so easily?
Ideally, App Tabs could be saved separately from the currently open windows (perhaps create an option to save then to a special Tab Group that opens on startup?). App tabs would be exceedingly useful to me if they weren't so easy to loose.
On that note, saving Tab Groups would also be a useful functionality.
++ You will get a "closing multiple tabs" warning if you have only one window open, and that one window has multiple non-app tabs open, and you have enabled the warning in Preferences. But this too unreliable to help prevent the loss of app tabs.

  • Is there anyway to get a number of my authorizations back?

My Hard drive was getting wiped out every week or so and I have had to reformat 3 to 4 times for the past month. Is there anyway to get my number of authorizations back? I think that this is kind of lame. My computer gets hosed, my ITunes get wiped, the new songs I bought wont fit on my IPod and those get wiped out as well and I cant get those back. Now soon I wont be able to play any of the ITunes music I bought on my Ipod if there is no way of fixing this.

You can use these instructions to reset your authorizations, but after using the option, you won't be able to use it again for a year. You should try to find out why you need to reformat your hard disk, and if possible, fix whatever is causing your issue.

  • I lost all my playlists when downloading the new itunes. Anyway to get them back?

I lost all my playlists when downloading the new itunes. Besides honestly wanting to cry, is there anyway to get them back without making them all AGAIN? And thanks so much, stupid Apple. Am looking for a new MP3 player to take your stupid ipod player's place. I used to love my ipod...now everytime I turn around, apple has screwed with something that causes ME time and trouble.

  • Should web images be sharpened or does Photoshop just "handle" jpegs better now & it's unnecessary

We have between 3-4MB "full size" print-quality product images that get downsized to about 204px wide x 300, and then proportionally smaller yet to 135 wide and 100 wide for our website.
The graphic designers I work with say there's no need to be sharpening these web-destined images--that "Photoshop handles jpegs better now and there's no point in sharpening at all." (This was in response to them providing images that are oversharpened and my asking them to adjust their settings.)
I'm only a "nonprofessional" photoshop user--but that just doesn't sound right to me (unless we don't want crisp images on our website).
Can anyone enlighten me if I am out of date and it's true no sharpening is needed?
Or if sharpening would be of value, provide a constructive response I could share with them and even an article I could direct them to with information/guidance on finding a good "bulk" way to do some sharpening (expecting the 3 sizes to be done by hand for the 50 or so product images a month isn't an option)?

It depends. I'd say 300 pixels is so small that sharpening may be counter-productive - the pixels may just get in the way.
Around 800-1000 pixels or up I always sharpen, and I have a couple of actions for it. Personally I don't like the "Bicubic Sharper (reduction)" algorithm, I think it overdoes it, and in the wrong way, giving just that oversharpened look. I prefer "Bicubic Smoother" and sharpen afterwards.
Confining sharpening to midtones, fading out high and low, always helps to reduce halos. There's a section of about 20 steps in my actions that does just that, trouble is I can't remember what they were...

  • HT1689 what happens of someone stole my ipod is there anyway to get another one besides buying a whole new one

What happens of someone stole my ipod is there anyway to get another one besides buying a whole new one? Does anyone know? And why does it have to be connected to the internet for it to locate my apple devices? There should be a locating chip in it already. Better ideas here..

You'll have to buy a new one, unless it is covered in some kind of insurance that you have.

I took pictures for work.  I downloaded them to iPhoto, is there anyway to add the lats/longs now?  Can it be done automatically?

are you sure the lats/longs aren't there? if not, i don't know how to add them now, but you can click on the 'i' in the picture and zoom in on the map as close as possible. to get the lat/long on there beforehand you have to turn on the camera's location in the settings app. or did you accidentally post this in the iphone forum?

Where are the masters actually stored upon conversion from Aperture to Photos? Photos?
The master files are stored on your drive, but they are not actually stored "in" any folder. Folders are really just special files that store various bits of information about the files associated with that folder, including links to where they actually are stored. That's why you can "move" a file from one folder to another very quickly: all that you really are doing is moving the link & other info from one folder to the other folder, while the file itself stays where it was.
Because of this, it is possible for more than one folder to link to the same file -- in the Finder it looks just like there are two copies of the file, one in each folder, but there really is just the one copy. From the description in the Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries doc, it looks like that's what happens when you import your iPhoto library into Photos -- both the old iPhoto Library "file" (which actually is a set of folders & subfolders of files) & the Photos Library (also consisting of folders & files) contain links to the master files, but like the Apple doc says, there really is just one set of master files being stored.
This is very similar to the way Time Machine backups look like they have multiple copies of the same unique file, one in each time-stamped backup folder, but there really is only one copy on the Time Machine drive. My guess is Apple is using hard links for this, which means the actual master files will not be deleted from the file system as long as at least one link remains to each of them.
So you should be safe in deleting the old iPhotos Library once you are absolutely sure you don't need it, but to be sure, if it was me I would make a backup just in case, or better yet just leave it alone.

  • Anyway to get a old backup for iPod?

Alright, so my ipod updated for some resion and now there are a lot of issues... and aparontly the last backup is still the 5.1.1, is there anyway to get an older backup? One of these problems is safari, along with apps. They should have just fixed themselfs but they did not...

There is no way to go back to a previous version of iOS.  iTunes backs up our data files (music, videos, apps and such), not the operating system....
If you were having problems BEFORE the update, you are going to have problems AFTER the update.
The deal is, Apple stuff just runs, period.  In my house there are 2 iPhone 4's, a 2nd gen Touch, a 4th gen touch, and a 5th gen iPod video.  They all work just fine.
We updated our iPhones and the 4th gen touch and don't have any problems what so ever.
There fore, I submit to you that either your iPod had issues right out of the box, you have installed an application or applications that are not completely compatible with iOS, or at some point your device was wiped and an alternate OS was installed, which may have damaged your device.
Oh, the word is apparently....  Just so ya know.
