Anyway to get my contacts back?

I have an IPhone4. I had to do a full restore after a back up from last point didnt get rid of the problem i am having where my phone keeps restarting itself. Now i have obviously lost all my contacts, but seem to have fixed my problem. Is there any way to get my contacts back without restoring to the last back up fully? as i dont want these problems to return. Im running windows 7. And i know there probably isnt but Itunes isnt exactly user friendly when it comes to finding out where your contacts and back ups are actually saved.

If you're on Windows, your contacts might have been saved in your Contacts app or Outlook when you did a former backup.
Plugin the iPhone, go to iTunes, select the phone from the left panel, at the top click on the Info tab. Use that tab to Sync your phone with your contacts. Don't worry it won't delete any of your current ones.
Also, you can try logging into iCloud (Settings > iCloud) and resync your contact info from there as it's usually saved there if you used iCloud before.

  • How do I get my contacts back after a restore?

My iPhone froze and I had it restored at the Genius Bar. They fixed the phone however it went back to it's original factory settings erasing all my apps, contacts, everything. The last "backup" I did manually was in January of 2009. When I restored my iPhone from my computer I hastily restored it from this backup then I synced it. I sync and update my iPhone and iTunes very frequently and it always says "backing up iPhone". Is there anyway to get my contacts from a more recent date?

When you restore the iPhone it should give you the option to also restore the backup that iTunes has been taking.
Are your contacts not stored on your computer in Outlook? Can you not sync them from there?

  • HT4859 I backedup iphone 4 and iphone 5 to icloud. I need contacts from the ipone 4 backup but I do not have that phone anymore and icloud will only let me restore the iphone 5's backups now. Is there anyway to get the contacts from my previous iphone 4?

I backedup my iphone 4 to the cloud before upgrading to an iphone 5. I also backedup my iphone 5 to icloud. I can see both phone's backups side by side on the my screen on icloud. But it will not allow me to restore the iphone 4 backup to my iphone 5.  I need contacts from the iphone 4 backup but I do not have that phone anymore and icloud will only let me restore the iphone 5's backups to my iphone 5. Is there anyway to get the contacts from my previous iphone 4 backup?

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup.  If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup.  You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone.  However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

  • How do i get my contacts back? they have just dissapeared?!

how do i get my contacts back, i  just looked at my phone, didnt touch anything and they had just dussapeared! i didnt have a single one left and i dont have a clue how to get them back?!

    Hi sfuentes,
You need to check iCloud to see if they are actually there. Go to iCloud.com and sign in and then look at your Contacts there to see if the old ones are still showing on iCloud.
If they are not, then you can either re-enter them while you are on iCloud.com, or you can restore your device from the backup where you saved them:

  • How do I get my contacts back on my phone I update it now they are missing

How do I get my contacts back on my phone I update it now they are missing

I just lost all contacts. I tried the backups but as soon as restore was completed, it would lose notes again. I disconnected after recover but still no notes.
Out of desperation, as I have all my passwords etc on it (yes, I know) but I trusted the iTunes backup system. I looked on the net and found a recovery company called Wondershare, Dr Phone. I tested it and there it all was, but it has now cost me $69 to purchase key number to download my info.
All contacts info and everything else is available. It saves it in a file which you open.
Now I have to type it all in again. I will keep manual backups now as well as using Dropbox from now on. Nightmare. I hope this helps you all.

  • How do i get my contacts Back, i can see them when composing a new text message but not in my contact list?

A couple of days ago all the contacts on my phone were deleted, for some unknown reason (i think it was something to do with iCloud). When i look in my contact list, on my phone, i can not see any of my contacts. But when i go to compose a new text message (or email) i can see the name of the contacts and the number.
If i then click on one of them it just comes up as a number in the: to box.
If i try to sync my phone with my computer, which has the contacts on, and click replace contacts on phone (with icloud turned off) it just deletes all the contacts that are left (the ones i added since i lost them) and does not replace them.
I have tried syncing through Icloud, the computer, Yahoo, Hotmail, and gmail with no luck.
So my qustion is can i get my contacts back?
    Thanks,

    In iTunes, uncheck Sync contacts.
    Sync the iPhone.
Then recheck Sync contacts and sync the iPhone.

  • I recently gave my old iPhone to my nephew, he switched it to his phone account, but somehow I now have his contacts on my new iPhone 5. When I look at my iCloud account, it lists his contacts. Is there any way for me to get my contacts back?

I recently gave my old iPhone to my nephew, I did not clear out my old phone before I gave it to him, when he transferred to his account, he had my iCloud info on the phone, and it updated the contacts on my new iPhone 5 to his contacts. Is there any way for me to get my contacts back?

This is caused by using the same iCloud account on both phones.  When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (i.e., deleting your nephew's data from your account, and vice versa).
As for recovering your lost contacts, if they aren't on icloud.com when you check from your computer, you will have to recover them from a backup source.  You could try restoring to your last backup but this doesn't always work for contacts.  (Chances are you nephew deleted your contacts from his phone, not realizing it would also delete them from yours.)

  • How do I get my contacts back after my phone wiped itself?

I have a password set on my phone and you get 10 attempts before it locks you out.  My friend decided to take all 10 of those attempts and failed and right after that a white screen came up and said "wiping". I took my battery out and put it back in and the wiping screen came back up and then it turned on like normal.  But all of my contacts and messages are gone, but not my downloaded apps, pictures, ringtones, and stuff like that. How do i get my contacts back if they weren't on my SIM card? and why would my phone wipe itself just because someone failed at the password 10 times?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Yes the wipe would delete all personal data settings as a security feature designed in the device.
Unless you have used the Blackberry desktop software to get a full backup of the device prior to the wipe the data is gone. If you do have the backup file you can restore the data via the desktop manager.

  • HT204150 To get my daughter's iphone4 setup I used my account#, and because I did this my contacts were on her phone. She deleted my contacts from her phone and they are now off of my phone. How do I get my contact back on my iphone4s??? Please help becau

I tried to also remove my account# from my daughter's phone so that we could get one assigned to her, but there is no edit prompt, so please tell me how to accomplish this. I really need to get my contacts back if that is possible, which I hope it is.

When you share an iCloud account any synced data such as contacts is merged.  Also, any action you take on one device (such as deleting contacts) is synced to the other.  (That's what iCloud does; it syncs changes across your devices so they maintain consistent data.)  Unfortunately, you contacts are no longer in iCloud.  Your only option is to try restoring your phone to your last backup, which may recover your contacts.
To sort out your iCloud issue, one of the phones need to be migrated to a separate account.  On the phone that will be moving, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (i.e., deleting your daughter's data from your account, and vice versa).
Another thing to avoid is using the same ID on both phones for iMessage and FaceTime.  If you do, you'll end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.  If you're doing this, on one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (such as your iCloud ID).  Do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
