Anyway to get rid of JMicron message "Press any key to continue..."?

Disable JMicron in the BIOS
Could you maybe tell a little bit more about how to do that ? (presuming it ain't a joke, since I got the feeling that disabling JMicron would also disable my optical devices :O)

    Was this a dark gray screen that appeared with the message to restart the computer in five different languages? If so that's a kernel panic. It would help if you can post the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic. Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics.

  • Satellite A50 - Resume failure, press any key to continue

    Hi
    Every time my laptop goes to sleep doesn't wake up until I push power button twice. First to shut down and second to go on then I get this message:
    Warning: Resume failure
    press any key to continue
    Please need help to solve this problem
    Thanks

    Usually bad drivers or a flat battery causes resume failure.
    You could try a System Restore back to a date when Resume was working properly, and update the drivers for your USB Devices.
    If thats no help, then maybe its time to backup your data and run Recovery from your Recovery Discs. Its good to do this once a year anyway to keep the system fresh and error free. Windows tends to become slow and errornous over time, due to power looses, viruses, badly written software etc..

  • Satellite A60 Resume failure and press any key to continue

    I have a problem with my satellite A60.
    I have had the computer for about a year and a half and have never had any serious problems with it of any kind. However last week the keyboard started to fail, first with only a few keys out, then the full keyboard.
    This never bothered me much because I am quite familiar with Toshiba computers. So I plugged in an external keyboard and I was back in business.
    I used it fine up until now but I put the computer into hibernate last night and when I got up this morning it says "resume failure and press any key to continue".
    I press keys and nothing happens, it just stays at that screen. I try to access BIOS by pressing esc when I turn the computer on and priority is set to BOOT not RESUME, hover it wont let me highlight it to change it anyways. The computer wont let me boot from cd. Basically its just stuck at that screen and thats it.
    I am wondering if there is another way around this or is my computer finished for good. I was running linux fedora the time of the crash.

    Sounds tricky but its not unresolvable..
    This sounds strong like a hardware issue, but I will not say it for sure.
    That keyboardthing can be a defective keyboardcontroller, because your error description is describing a similar case which I had with my machine.
    I send the machine to my local servicepartner and they exchanged my mainboard and the keyboard and after the repair the error, I had, never bothered me again.
    Just a little question: does some fluids come on your keyboard?

  • Okay, so I'm trying to download an album from the store on the iPod. It's telling me "Item is currently being modified. Please try again later." Its really starting to make me mad; Is there anyway to get rid of that message?

    It's telling me "Item is currently being modified. Please try again later." Its really starting to make me mad; Is there any way to get rid of that message?
    PS. The reason I'm downloading directly from the iPod is because the laptop that had my iPod synched to it crashed and the recovery disk didn't fix it. I don't wanna lose all my songs. :/

    If it says it is temporarily being modified than you should wait until tomorrow or later tonight. If it keeps happening, try downloading something else. If it has the same message, it is probably a problem with iTunes on your iPod. If it downloads regularly, there must just be a problem with the album.

  • (Disk error _ Press any key to continue) SOLUTION

    For those of us, and I believe there are plenty, I've finally been able to install Windows XP Pro SP2 OEM on my Macbook. I'll firstly not be taking the credit for all of it as I used a few sources, of which I will reference as I go.
    Essentially, if you have a version of Windows XP Pro SP2 that is an OEM version (full version, not "update or upgrade" + unbranded, eg no Dell brand on the disc etc.) then the installation process that begins after Bootcamp partitions your hard drive will run as expected until it asks you to choose the partition you want to install Windows on. As we all know, and as the Apple Bootcamp manual states, choose the Bootcamp partition. With I think most of us, this step works fine. But then we DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get the option to reformat that partition to the NTFS or FAT32 format. Again, DO NOT. As the manual suggests, we SHOULD but we DON'T. As far as I can tell, the manual is not made to apply to the above OEM versions.
    As a result, the installation continues (rather fast on my system compared to the way it should) and restarts, possibly spits the XP disc out and leaves us with a black DOS screen with white text stating "Disk error_Press any key to continue" (Note: for some, the process from the installation to the Disk Error prompt may include or exclude things from my quick description there. But I believe that's mainly what happens)
    Anyway, installing Windows the way the manual states is not going to work no matter how many times you try it. I've tried it upwards of 10 or so times. If you do get the option to reformat to NTFS or FAT32, then all the power to you, everything is fine. But those of us who don't, it simply wont work if you keep following the manual.
    But there is a way. In the post on this thread made by Michael Fox2,
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6113937&#6113937
    he says that we need to take our XP OEM discs (which work if you install them on an actual PC, mind you) and make an almost exact copy using something close to the Slipstreaming method. I say almost exact copy because he says there is one file that is causing the problems. It's called WINNT.sif and is in the I386 directory. You can insert your XP disc in your Mac or a PC and check the contents of the disc to see that it is there. Make sure to look carefully as the I386 directory has tonnes of files and there are quite a few with the name "WINNT" but they all have different file extensions. Make sure to find the correct file with extension .sif .
    I'll get to the point. What you need to do is copy all files from your XP disc and paste them in a new directory. Then find the offending WINNT.sif file and remove it from that directory. Here's my process:
    I used a desktop PC for this. I put the XP disc in the drive, went to My Computer and then right clicked the XP disc, hit explore, then copied all of the files and folders into a new directory that I entitled NEW FOLDER (original, I know) on my Desktop. Then I found the WINNT.sif file and cut and paste it out of the directory (I didn't delete it but just made sure it wasn't in thd directory that had the rest of the files, ie. NEW FOLDER. Then I followed the instructions on this website beginning at Step 5 and then continuing using NERO ie, Step 5a:
    http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp
    At the end, once the disc was burned, I began at the very beginning by using Bootcamp to partition the hard drive (I used 35G), then inserted the newly burned XP disc and clicked to start installation, the Macbook rebooted and might have spat the disc out but I put it straight back in. Then all of the loading of the computer jargon started. Then you can follow the manual to the letter.
    Follow all your onscreen prompts and remember to choose the Bootcamp partition, and THEN you will get the screen that we've all been waiting for. I chose the NTFS format. Your installation process, ie. counting to 100%, then the Macbook restarted and spat the disc out.
    I restarted by holding the power button down, then held the option button on the keyboard and chose to boot from Windows XP. At this point, the second phase of the XP installation begun, the one that has the familiar blue XP layout and theme. It also asked me to reinsert my XP disc, ie. the one I burnt, and from there followed the prompts. The installation completed without a hitch. I then inserted my Mac OSX Installation disc to install the drivers etc etc and then it was done.
    As I said, the installation manual can be followed to the letter so long as you have the "replacement" XP disc burnt. And you should (hopefully) be good to go.
    I hope this at the very least has contributed in some way to the problems we've all been having with these OEM discs and Disk Error screens.
    As for any claims made by people who say we don't read manuals... near as I can tell, some might not read the manual properly. I will freely agree that's just ridiculous. They're ignorant and/or impatient people. But most of us actually DO read the manual that Apple provides. And I repeat again, no amount of reading and re-reading the blasted thing will change the fact that some of us won't get the DOS page that asks us to reformat the Bootcamp partition to NTFS or FAT32.
    Before I finish, I must state that I don't mean to say that I understand how to fix any issues once Windows is installed. Nor do I profess to know the solution to any problems that might arise during the above process. It is simply what I tried and it worked.
    Good luck!
    Thanks,
    Joe

  • No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key to continue

    I accidentally turned off my mac book pro by keeping my finger on the Power button too long.  When I tried to turn it on again, the computer didn't boot.  Instead, I got the "No bootable device..." message.  I was not trying to install anything.  A moment before this happened, the computer worked perfectly.  Any suggestions?

    I'm lost.  Why would my Mac try to boot into Windows?  It hasn't even heard of Windows.  Not a trace of it on my laptop.  I tried holding down the Option key, but nothing happened.  I tried a couple more options I read on the internet, but no success yet.  Every post I saw involved problems where people tried to install Windows.  I have not tried installing ANYTHING.  It just quit on me and now I'm stuck.  Not an Apple store nearby.  And I don't think that my computer even came with a boot disk.  Does it matter what kind of boot disk I use?  Would a Windows disk work?  Or do I have to use a Mac boot disk?  I'm so sorry for being so stupid.  I'm such a novice regarding these problems.

  • Can't complete windows installation - Stuck at Press any key to boot from..

    I am unable to install windows xp service pack 3 or windows 7 on to my iMac running latest boot camp installer. I can start the installation process, but when windows installer completes copying all the files on to the boot camp partition and reboots the system I get stuck at this message "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM A CD OR DVD", which won't go away even if I wait for 10-15 minutes. To get rid of this I have to hard reset the iMac by pressing the power button for a few seconds and then boot into Mac HD using the option key.
    Please advise if I need to tweak some settings to complete the installation or if you need more information to resolve this issue. Thanks!

    I was able to complete the installation process by formatting the windows bootcamp partition through windows installer (and not using Mac disk utility to format the partition into NTFS format). Hope this helps someone.

  • How to make a simple 'press  any key...'?

    I need to make a simple statement that will pause the screen, until you hit any key or click the mouse? 'press any key to continue...'
    is there a way to do it without any popup boxes?
    thanks

    System.in.read() will block until a key is hit (unfortunately the enter key counts produces 2 chars on windows...)
    So my suggestion is:
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
    System.out.println("Press a key to continue....");
    br.readLine();HTH,

  • About press any key!

    import java.lang.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class hello {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
         System.out.println("Press any key to continue...");
         try {
              char ch = (char)System.in.read();
         catch (IOException e) {}
         System.exit(0);
    How to really Press any key,becaust it's not contnue until press ENTER key

    Input from the console is taken line by line so there is no easy way to do that (and many other simple things related to the console, like clearing the screen).
    Saying "press enter" and reading with System.in.read() wouldn't work very well, by the way - the line separator is platform dependent. You should construct a BufferedReader and read from the console with the readLine() method.

  • HT1766 I have an IPAD 2 and when I awoke it I received an error message; "This IPad hasn't been backed up for 3 weeks." It goes on to tell me when backups occur but it doesn't back up automatically. How can I get rid of this message and use my IPad?

    I have an IPad 2 and when I woke it up it gave me an error message on the desktop: "iCloud backup: This IPad hasn't been backed up in 3 weeks. Backups happen when this IPad is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi." I have done all of these and it still doesn't allow me to get rid of the error message. I even connected the IPad to the computer and attempted to back it up using the Web but it still doesn't get rid of the message. Help!

    Reset your iPad to clear that condition:
    Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

    My iPad mini is locked due to the "no backup in past 2 weeks message."  I can't power it off or get rid of this message.  HELP!

    Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • I keep getting a notification that says "Google Talk authentication failed"...does anyone know how to get rid of this?  I tried looking for it in the apps but not really sure what google talk is or how to get rid of this message that keeps popping up.

    How do i get rid of the message that keeps popping up that says "google talk authentication failed"????

    funwidowlady,
    Good afternoon!  I'm glad I can be here to help with this error. In the device this application is identified only as 'Talk', so that be more familiar to you. First I recommend opening the 'Market' app on your phone, then Menu>My Apps to see if this application requires an update. It will display a list on top of all applications that need to be updated. If nothing exists, tap 'Home' and go into 'Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Talk, then tap 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Data' to remove the history of that application and stop the notifications.  The app will remain on your phone for future use, if you desire to take advantage of it. Read more about Google Talk here
    Thank you!
