Anyway to have ichat IM's forwarded to .mac mail?
alright my ? is that i use my .mac mail account for ichat and also on the iphone mail. if i am offline on ichat can i have those IM's forwarded to my e-mail so that i still will recieve them? thanks for the help.
Is there anyway I can change the default state of three of the partitions to 'unmounted'?
It's actually pretty easy to do with the fstab-based method I mentioned in my reply in the How? Creating 2 Partitions, 1 Automount & 1 Manual Mount topic in this forum.
I use it to prevent a second partition on my internal HD from mounting at startup, but it should work for externals too. I'm not entirely sure what would happen if you just sleep the MBP, but I think it should work the same way, if I understand what the fstab & diskarbitrationd man pages say.

Forwarding from Mac mail to iPhone images not displaying
When Forwarding from my iMac mail to my iPhone, the images are not displaying on the iPhone.
If I save the image from the email I wish to forward, in mac mail, then attach it to a new email and send it to the iPhone it displays perfectly!
Any ideas as to why? Maybe another bug?I tried that. It does not work for me. I get a few books to appear from iTunes into iBooks. Getting them into iBooks on the Mac has never been the problem There are lots of way to do that. The problem is, they STILL not not sync with my iPad. And now they are gone from iTunes so i am not sure what is going to happen the next time I try to sync the iPad with iTunes. Luckily I have a Time Capsule backup so I can restore if I have to.
I guess the bottom line, based on several other threads, is the only solution is to kill iBooks, move it to an obscure corner of your Launch Pad (since you can't totally delete it) and go buy an third party app that will work. Apple has release several updates to Mavericks, and so far there is nothing on the horizon about restoring any of the sync ability that Mavericks took away - iTunes sync wirelessly with the iPad and iPhone, or, like here, iBooks syncing across Apple platforms. -
I just set up my account to have my gmail account in my Mac Mail.
I am new to macs altogether so my question might have an obvious answer. When I read new mail through Mac Mail, it is marked as read. However, when I then log into my gmail account directly online, the same email that had been read on Mac Mail is marked as new on gmail.
Is there a way to have an email be marked as read in gmail if it has been read in Mac Mail, and vice a versa? Similarly, if I delete an email in Mac Mail, is there a way to have the email be deleted from my gmail?Yes - you need to set your GMail up as IMAP, not POP. Make sure that you have IMAP enabled in your GMail's webmail (the same place where you enabled POP), and then delete and re-create your account as an IMAP version. You'll need to use the GMail server settings - eg "imap.gmail.com" for both incoming and outgoing servers. Check these articles carefully:

Formatting for mail forwarded by Mac mail to Gmail
I normally use Gmail. When certain people who use OSX Mail forward emails to me, the formatting is 'all over the place', especially if a picture is concerned - the picture arrives embedded and full width, even if it was an attachment in the first place. Is there a preference setting somewhere in Mail that ensures attachments stay as attachments and the formatting is retained? Or is it an incompatability between OSX Mail and Gmail?

First off, you should update your OS to 10.4.11, Mail and install all the updates pertaining to your computer through Software Update. More than likely you are using an outdated version of Mail.
The last version of Mail for Tiger is v2.1.3.

Switching between servers and accounts on mail.
It's possible that you have a problem with some outgoing servers and it's just moving through the list until it finds a working one. It will do this if you not have specific SMTP servers locked to each account?
Open Mail's preferences. Select an account and make sure it has the correct SMTP server listed. Also check the login and password for it to make sure it's correct. Check the box to use only that server for that account. Repeat this for all accounts making sure the server login and information are correct.
If an outgoing server fails in the future, you will ger a failure window asking to select another server or try again with the one chosen for that account.
You can also open connection doctor from Mail's main menu (under Window) and run the test. You should have incoming and outgoing servers listed for each account. It will tell you which are working and which aren't. You may also have intermittent failures. Run the test several times.

I need help Syncing my ipod to my mac. It has music on the mac currently but I want both my ipod music and the mac music together but it says i have to delete my ipod and only have the Laptop music on it. is there anyway to have both?

Well I want to put all of my music on my Mac, But everytime I plug it in and ask it to sync all music it tells me that I have to erase my Ipod and sync in with the music on my Mac... Hi all. I want to make audio chat with my brother. I use iChat on my MBP. He uses Gtalk on his windows PC. The problem is that the audio icon is gray so I cannot start audio chat. Is there anyway? Can iChat make voice chat with Gtalk on windows or not? I am confused.

You need to satisfy several things along the way
Account type
You need to have a Jabber or Google mail Account your self.
If you have a Google Mail Account then it needs the "Talk" option Enabled in your Google account Settings ( A Facebook with "Chat" enabled is also a valid Jabber ID to use in iChat).
Connection Method
This is about which apps can connect to which apps for Video ro Audio to work.
iChat Video when using a Jabber account is iChat to iChat Only.
iChat connects using a process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)
Jabber based Apps if they have an A/V module connect using protocol called Jingle.
Needless to say Google do their own version of this that is written in to the web Browser Plugin that allows Video Chats (there are PC and Mac versions), and in the PC app called GoogleTalk.
However it is also not that compatible with other Jabber apps.

This claims, now, that Google had a hand in writing the Protocol.
Also in the "Clients Supporting Jingle" list many more version of Google products are mentioned with extended info. (it suggests that someone at Google has been editing the page).
Can iChat make voice chat with Gtalk on windows or not?
The specific answer to this to be clear is NO.
We are talking about different Apps (or web Browser Plugins) using different Internet Protocols that are not compatible.
The simplest thing is to get the Web Browser Plugin (However there can be issues with the Flash Plugin)
At one time Google used Flash to do Video Chats and it would seem their Plugin is very close to this part of Flash.
See the Known Issues and the "Google Talk Plugin Disables iSight On Mac" item.
Options
Use a Web Browser yourself with the Plugin.
Use a Flash Base Site such as MeBeam (Flash has to be enabled in your Browser and the instructions are simple on the page)
Try to find a Jingle capable Mac Jabber Client (app) ( I have not found one).

How do I get messages to go back to an AIM account? It's only seeing the iPad's Facetime email address and not seeing the old AIM account name that is on my desktop. I am using my iMac using iChat to talk to a newer iMac that doesn't have iChat. We had this working using Messages and Facetime (on the new machine) talking to my existing iChat account. One day last week, when Facetime rang, my kids answered on the iPad. Dang! Now it's all fouled up! The new iMac won't see my AIM account name and shows that I'm offline, because the iPad is off. We were able to call using "most recent call" in Facetime, but now I can't go and control that new iMac remotely to help with some email concerns the user is having. I'm trying to not personalize this too much, but it's grandkids talking to Grandma and Mom and Dad trying to solve new machine hiccups. Normally, I could just go in via iChat and control the other machine and troubleshoot, but I can't do it with Facetime only. My buddy list doesn't see the other computer even though we are connected on Facetime right now. My name is not highlighted for the other computer. What could have gone so wrong?

Would like to get Messages on Macbook Pro OSX 10.7.5 so that I can sync with iMessages from my iPhone 3GS. Not sure if this is possible though. Or do you have to have Mountain Lion to get Messages? It seems that I only have iChat on my Macbook.

Status bar, RGB colour as 0-255
Is there a way to show RGB values as 0-255 rather than percentages in the status bar? The RGB option displays floating point numbers, then there's percentatge and HSV options only in the prefs.
