  • I want to hook my xbox 360 up to my 2011 27" Cinema display, is this possible?

I have a 2011 27" Cinema Display and I want to know if there's any way at all to hook my Xbox-360 up to the display to use it. TIA.

If you connect yourMacBook using a MiniDVI/HDMI adapter you will need to use external speakers for audio since the pre-2010 MacBooks will only send video through the MiniDVI or MiniDisplay Port . The MiniDVI/HDMI doesn't carry audio and there's no audio plugs on the TV to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If your TV has a DVI input plug you can use a MiniDisplayPort/DVI adapter. Then a DVI cable to the DVI input plug on the TV. The TV will have RCA audio plugs for use with the DVI. Plus DVI gives a sharper image than HDMI.

  • Could i Hook up my 360 to an imac?

i want to use my imac as a display for my 360 elite, is this even possible?
i have the new Anodized Aluminum imac with the extreme.

The iMac does not have a video input.
If you want to see the 360's output on your iMac you will need the eyetv 250 plus.

  • Xbox 360 placed near new 24in imac

okay, I've just got a new 2.4 24in imac. Thing is, it's taken up quite a lot of space on my desk, so there is now limited room for my 360. Does anybody now if it is potentially damaging to the imac if an xbox 360 is placed in very close proximity to it? I had my 360 close to my old G5 and it was fine, but I'm just double checking before I put the 360 next to the new imac. Maybe i'm just being paranoid...
Anyway, thanks for any advice anyone can give!

Magnetic fields are no problem at all. You are probably getting confused with the old advice not to put magnetic things near TV sets (of the antiquated CRT variety) due to the distortion this would cause on the electron beam. However, this does not apply to LCD displays. As for the impact of any magnetic field on data storage, if the field strength is too small to affect the XBox's own electronics and hard disk, it certainly isn't going to affect the iMac. You can safely put them as close together as you would like. Apple and Microsoft in perfect harmony

  • Can I hook up New Mac Mini to my old imac?

Can I hook up New Mac Mini to my old imac to share the display? I want to upgrade my iMac since I can not add more memories... but thought may be I can add New Mac Mini and use that along with my old iMac.. Will this work?

If your configuration supports Target Display mode, use that. If not, not without a standalone monitor and a product such as ScreenRecycler.

  • 27 inch iMac to a 29 inch Dell Ultrasharp U2913WM monitor. What do I need to hook these two up?

27 inch iMac to a 29 inch Dell Ultrasharp U2913WM monitor. What do I need to hook these two up?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
That monitor has got a lot of ports you can use. The easiest and cheapest way to connect the iMac to the Dell monitor is through a Mini DisplayPort cable, because you do not need any adapter.
Another way you have is to connect it through HDMI. In this case, you need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable

  • Is there anyway to add a 3rd display to the quad core iMac 27?

Is there anyway to add a 3rd display to the quad core iMac 27? I know a 2nd can be added using the mini port.. but curious to see if there is a solution to add a 3rd if desired.
    Thanks!

As Sherman says, the only way to add a 3rd display to an iMac or MacBook is to use a USB to DVI adapter. I've been using the Gefen adapter for a year or so now with my MacBook Pro and it works great:
    http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=4517
But USB does not have a lot of bandwidth, so you can't use it for video, games and other similar stuff. Works great for Mail, web browsing, iWork, etc.

  • Hooking up xbox 360 to my mac

i was wondering if there was a way to hook up an xbox 360 to my mac so I can use the macbook pro's screen as a tv of sorts. I am in college and dont have a tv, nor want to cart my 360 to the lounge to hook it up. it would be easiest to hook it up to the macbook pro but i am not sure what cables are needed or how to go about doing it, if at all possible. feedback is appreciated

In short form, the answer is no you dont want to do this. It is possible by using a tv type input or capture card which can either interface with usb or express card slot. The extreme downfall to doing this is there will be significant lag. Such as when you press a button on the controller for the character to shoot, you wont actually see it on the screen for over a second. The reason for this is the capture card has to convert the video signal into the something the computer can display, and this takes time. Again its possible, but the delay would make it impossible to play proficiently... My advise as a college student my self is to hit up a garage sale for a cheap tv to put in your dorm..

  • New 400n, Having Problems Hooking Up My 360 wirelessly

Just got a new 400n coming from the 300n.  I have it setup so im running the internet on the computers fine but now im having problems.  I have it set so theres no password and when I test the connection I always recieve network failed.  The 360 is hooked up to a 54AG wireless gaming adapter and sees all the networks, it just can't connect to them.  Its kind of ridiculous.  What can I do to make this work.  Any questions or specs you need from me ill quickly answer.

Make sure that you have identical Wireless Settings(SSID, WEP/WPA Encryption) on your Gaming Adapter and your Router...Also make sure your Gaming Adapter is set to use a Static IP Address and the IP Address on your Gaming Adapter should be 192.168.1.250(if your router's address is 192.168.1.1), enter your router's default address in the Default Gateway field...
After configuring the Gaming Adapter settings you should power cycle both the devices(Gaming Adapter and Router)...Your Gaming Adapter should be configured...

  • Looking for descent, affordable wired router so I can hook up XBox 360-iMac

I just got an XBox 360, and I'd like to use the XBox Live features. Could anyone suggest a dependable, wired router that wouldn't cost much more than fifty dollars? I really have no need to go wireless, and besides I'd have to buy the wireless adaptor for the XBox 360 if I did. There's also usually at least one or two Bit Torrents running on my G5 iMac.
More importantly, I'd like to know if having the XBox Live online would interfere with the bit torrents running on the iMac, and should I expect to see a major decrease in upload/download speed on running torrents?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Visit DealMac and see what router deal they have located. Typically in the Sunday paper you can find several for $20 or less after rebate.

  • I just bought Apple Tv.  Everything is hooked up and home sharing is turned on (imac, ipad, apple tv).  When i play my itunes through my tv the song will play for apprx. 45 to 60 seconds and then cuts off and goes back to the main menu.

I just purchased Apple Tv 2.  Hooked it up and everything is set on Home Sharing.  When i attempt to play itunes through  my tv the song will only play for approx. 45-60 seconds and then the Main Menu comes on and the song quits.  Same goes for when I put my photos on.

No. Target Display mode only works with other Macs. In the past there were an adapter to connect a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 to a 27-inch iMac, but it no longer works with Thunderbolt iMacs like your computer.
