Anyway to lock items on a page?

Is there anyway that iWeb will allow you to lock down text and images on a page once you have finished the layout of that particular item. I am getting a bit frustrated with selecting things that I didn't realize was selected and moving them. Thank goodness for the Undo function.
Also, can you tab or some other way of selecting various items on a page, like when an image is behind a text box but the text box is bigger than the image box. How do you select through the text box.
Sorry if these are silly questions. Just need to know and I couldn't find anything under help.

You cannot lock objects. If it could, there would be a command (Cmd-L) in a menu. You cannot group object either.
Also, can you tab or some other way of selecting various items on a page, like when an image is behind a text box but the text box is bigger than the image box. How do you select through the text box.
Drag the mouse over the objects and Cmd-Click the object(s) you do not want to move.
It's not iWeb specific. Has been possible in all apps for the past 25 years if I remember correctly. It's an acquired skill.

Able to edit items on a page locked by another developer

Is this a known issue, or should we raise a bug? In Apex 2.0 if a developer locks a page, any other developer can change items on that page using the links created by "Show Edit Links". The "Apply Changes" button is then available and changes can be successfully saved.

This has been fixed in 2.2.

Cannot insert second lib item on same page (DW CS3)

Hi, I am asked to build a website with 53 pages. My client, most likely, will come up with changes/desired extra pages in future, so I thought library items would be appropriate for navigation (correct? I am new to lib).
After inserting one library item (vertical menu with roll-over images) in a page, I also want to use this type of nav horizontally at the top of the pages.
However, DW (cs3) does not allow me to do so. This is the message: "Making this change would require changing code that is locked by a template or a translator. The change will be discarded." The parent page is not a template, just an ordinary new html page. I inserted the vertical nav lib into a div.
I understood it should be possible to insert more than one lib item in a page, what can be the problem here?

You know what? I stopped working with the lib items, because I found out that working with SSI is much easier!

I haven't used DW's Templates or Library Items for several years. I used to spend too much time having to find my way around the editables and non-editables. They just got in my way. SSIs are much easier to create and far, far easier to maintain.

SSIs can be used on plain HTML pages, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET and ColdFusion pages.
The principle is the same, but the Include code in the parent page is different.
ASP and .NET includes use the same syntax as plain SSI:

Locked items in InDesign

All the items in my InDesign file are locked! My layer is not locked, and "Unlocked all items on spread/page.." is grayed out. I've restarted InDesign, opened an older file. Nothing has worked. As soon as I create an item anywhere on the page InDesign locks it.

Thanks for responding Peter. I ended up deinstalling CS6 and reinstalling it. I had checked my layers panel, and wasn't adding things to the master page. I even opened a new file, drew a text box and tried to move it with the mover tool and it was locked. I could move the handles and move it around numerically with the tool bar, but the mover tool was useless.
Wish I could have found a less time consuming solution, but the reinstall did the trick.

Multiple file browse items on a page

Hi,
A relative newbie so apologies if this has already been answered...
Is there a way to add an arbitrary number of "File Browse" items to a page and then programtically go through them and upload the files specified?
So a user, for example, goes to a screen and by default can upload 3 files however they have 5 files to upload. What I would like them to be able to do is instead of having to upload 3 files followed by another 2 files they could add two more boxes to upload files.
To complicate things slightly more I'd also like each File Browse box to have an associated additional field that is a file description.

No problem I've been trying out a few ideas and have a workable solution - although there is one thing that bugs me/I don't fully understand.
In the page I have created the user clicks 'Add' to add the file to the collection which it does successfully. However this also causes the file to immediately be uploaded to APEX_APPLICATION_FILES.
Is there a way to prevent this behaviour? Ideally no files would be uploaded until an overall page submit occurs. i.e. The only thing that changes until the page level submit is pressed is the Apex collection. Once the submit is pressed the process loops through the collection uploading each file.
If this isn't possible then I can work around it I think by allowing the users to update the collection and delete individual members which in turn would delete the file from the APEX_APPLICATION_FILES view.
I suspect that the upload logic is somehow wrapped up in the "File Browse" item so it's not possible to do it in the way I imagine but thought I'd ask anyway.

Lock items in a bin

How do I lock items in a bin so that sequences can't be launched, clips cannot be bent, folded or mutilated? Ideally, can I lock a bin up so it can't even be opened? (assistant editor is going to capture a bunch of tapes for me and I want to eliminate risk of anything being disturbed) thanks.

Sorry... sarcasm caused by frustration at my current edit job.
I've never come accross, or heard of any locking feature in the Browser of FCP. I think it would be unneccessary... well, seeing as you brought it up, i can kind of understand why it might be handy for a short-term solution to keeping Bins safe... but...
I think the safest way is as Jim said, just start a new project for the assistant and get all the new tapes captured to it and then copy them over into your master project.

Export selected items on each page in InDesign to JPEG

Hi All,
I have InDesign CS5.5. I have a document with more than 50 pages and each page has unique image and the description for image.
I need to export each page as JPEG. but i don't want to export full page. i need only the items on each page. So i go to each page and select all the items and export. while exporting i use the same name of the image used in each page.
I tried writing a script but it exports only the active page. i do not know how to navigate to the next page and export.
is some one can help.

How do you pass more than 3 items to another page via a Column Link?

I know this is a simple question, but I don't see it covered in the manual.
I have a report on page 1, when the user clicks on a column link, I'd like to pass 4 items to the page that is called.
The Column Link area allows you to specify 3 items. How do people normally accomplish this?
Do you somehow use page zero? Do you use Application Items for this purpose?
Also, can someone recommend a good APEX book to supplement the manuals?

Just change the target to URL and enter a simple statement
in the URL section

Use value when u know a fixed value to be passed
and column names on the same report can be passes by using #column_name#

Display items in designated page

This is sooo basic, but being new to Portal, I just can't figure it out:
The case is, I have a page with news-items that users can add and edit. Only the last 5 or 10 items off course, because there maybe hundreds. I used a "custom search" portlet, that only shows the display name and description of the item. One can click the display name to view the item itself.
But this only shows the item text, without a surrounding page. I already found a procedure SHOW_PAGE_FOR_ITEM, but this shows the item on the page with the other hundreds of items. That's no good.
So, Is it possible to view an item inside a designated page or template, as well in view and edit mode? Or do you really have to place each item on a seperate subpage (which I can't believe)?
Adding, viewing, searching and editing of news items should be standard functionality, that is used everywhere around, but I haven't figured it out yet how to implement it in Oracle Portal 10g.
Can anybody give me a clue?

I think you refer to SHOW_PAGE_FOR_ITEM in

The procedure has a site_id and a page_id, so you could point your results to any page you want.
I you alter the URL and add the itemid as a parameter, you can point the link to a page which you can design like you want. You can create a portlet on that page which accepts the itemid as a parameter. The portlet should display the item contents, using the content management views.

How can I get rid of "locked items" in Trash?

I am deleting old Time Machine files from my external drive, using my MacBook Pro (2007) to do it. I've been doing this for several weeks, but now when I'm in Trash and click "Empty Securely" I get this message: "There are some locked items in Trash. Do you want to remove all the items, including the locked ones, or just the unlocked items?" Regardless of whether I click on "Remove unlocked items" or "Remove all items", the process stops almost immediately and the Trash remains full. What might be the "locked items" and how can I get rid of them?

You might try restarting and then try to empty the Trash.

From within the Pages app, no. If you have an iTunes or iCloud backup that would have contained the file, and you are backing up Pages, it could be received via a restore using that backup (this would wipe out any newer data however).

Interactive Report & Item Value in Page 0

Hi,
Is it true that Interactive Report query couldn't read item value from Page 0?
I have this Interactive Report region using the :P0_EMP_SEQ in the where CLAUSE, i found out that the value is always blank/NULL.
I created a normal Report region to test the SQL, I can see records being returned.
