If you are hoping for a "film look," there is much more to it, than just the 24p. This is a good tutorial on what is involved: http://www.learningdslrvideo.com/film-look-dslr-video/
A true film look does start with 24p, but goes into lighting, lens selections, etc. as well.
As for converting, say 30i to 24p, I do not know of any plug-in that will do a good job, but there might be some good ones out there.

What does Apple site use to compress the videos to make it look like DVD?

What compression program do they use for videos on apples site to compress these videos. They look crisp like DVD Quality? How and what kind of settings do they use?
My videos look like crap after being compressed and even crappier once uploaded on YouTube.
I used H.264 800Kbps Streaming in Compressor 3 to compress.
Camera used: Canon XL2 with 16:9, 24p.
NLE's used: FCP or Avid MC3.
Guys, how can I make my videos look as good as DVD while keeping the size low.
How should I set my properties?
Is their a tutorial on the web?

Any Effects to make Video footage look dreamy/heaveny

I am trying to see if there is anyway or effect to make some video footage look dreamy or heavenly, it is for a wedding so I want to give it that "mystical" feel. I hope my descriptive words make sense. The footage should almost have a shimmer.

Hi - One way to go is to use third party plug-ins, another is to learn how to combine and use filters in FCE to achieve the effect you want. Final Cut contains dozens of filters, that when combined can achieve very nice effects, and allow you a lot of control. I actually prefer the filters layering process as it keeps me in control of subtle variations of the effect. Here is one way to make your images a little more romantic. The following demo is done on Final Cut Pro, but as Mr. Wolsky pointed out, most if not all of these filters should be available to you in FCE:
I start by editing my scene to the timeline, and locking the audio:

It is a harshly lit shot of Meg The Dog ( a self portrait) with a cheap Kodak Zi8 camera:

To make it look nice, I edit the exact same scene in the exact same position on the timeline to V2:

I double click *on the clip on V2,* which is above our untreated clip, and it opens in the viewer. I select the Filters tab (which is empty).
I then go to the Effects Tab > Video Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur, and drag the Gaussian Blur filter to the Filters tab in the Viewer window, and set it to around 20 pixels of blur:

This gives the image a nice soft look:

but everything is soft - and I just want the highlights to be soft and hold the detail in the non-bright parts of the picture. So I return to the Effects Tab > Video Filters > Image Control > Brightness and Contrast and drag the Brightness and Contrast filter to the Filter pane in the viewer, setting the brightness and contrast up slightly:

Which makes the bright parts of the picture even brighter:

Now I want to combine this with the "normal" image on V1, keeping only the blurred highlights on V2. So back to the Effects Tab > Video Filters > Key > Luma Key, and drag the Luma Key to the Filters Pane in the viewer. Note that I switch the Key Mode to Key Out Darker:

Which now gives me nice soft highlights while keeping detail in the scene where the luminance is in the more normal range:

Is there something to download to make videos? ..and not able to open videos

This is probably a really stupid question, but I did a search and I can't find an answer. When I call CS they just tell me that the phone isn't set up to record videos and that they dont know why I cant open them either. Basically I have a few friends that also have curves and they can make videos and send/recieve them. I have a video spot in my media section, its like a film roll, if I click on that I get no option to make a video, if I hit the bb button n go to options theres still no option to make videos.. I know its not a big deal.. but I miss that feature from the phone I had before. I have the whole package thing from At&T .. and I cant open messages that people send me that have a video.. I just get this message saying there is not enough space, I have a micro sd card in the phone. I'm at a loss of what to do, and CS is of no help at all... If its as simple as downloading some software thats awesome! Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions! ... oh I did find one thing about software to download but it would void the warrenty.. I'm on my fourth phone this year.. lol so if it voids it I dont care.. I get a different model next time around. =)

What you'll want to do is pick a photo with something like a person or an animal in the foreground. Then, use the Lasso tool to trace around the outside. Separate the person and the background into two or more layers, depending on how much you want to change. Up the saturation on the background, and apply a blur under the filter menu. It might just be the angle the photo was taken from, but they could have possibly added a light effect behind him as well. As for the guy, it looks like they upped the contrast and lowered brightness. Since i don't know from what angle the photo was taken, those are the only effects I can say were most likely used.

Problem syncronizing my iPod Shuffle. iTunes makes it look like I have 2.

I have a new iPod generation 2 Shuffle. For some reason wnem I connect it to my USB port, it makes it look like I have 2 different iPod Shuffles. The first one shown under iTunes is as I registered it and says "Brad's iPod". The second one just says "iPod", yet shows the same serial number as shown under the first one with my name. I keep getting an error message when the second pops up and says that it seems that the iPod is corrupted and suggests I select the option to reset everything as it was with original factory settings. It prevents mefrom synchronizing my iPod.
Why is this doing this? Is there anyway to delete the second "instance" of the iPod being shown under the name of simply "iPod"? Any help would be appreciated.

Restart the Computer?
Reset iPod/iPad/or iPhone:
Hard Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons on your iPod/iPad/or iPhone for at least 10 seconds, or until Apple logo appears

I am redesigning my website in Flash and I would like to make a Flash Gallery using the Video Lightbox elements (Thumbnail, jQuery loader, etc.)

You can use the entire Video lightbox as is by stacking it in a separte <div> container over the top of the other Flash content on the page.
The stacking process is a common practice in HTML and is called z-indexing.
Leave a blank spot in your .fla in exactly the spot you want the video gallery. Place your .swf on the Web page as you normally would. Now there will be a blank spot where the video gallery will go.
Then using z-indexing and CSS positioning, place the video gallery in it's own <div> container stacked over the top of the Flash content. This will make it look like the video gallery is a part of the Flash background.
Here is a working example... the Vimeo player is layered over the Flash background:

What you could do now is break up your video into smaller parts and render them out, then assemble them again as a whole.
I know this is not the best fix, but it might work.
You can duplicate an edit in the main screen, then delete the last bits and export,
do the same for the other half.
Then import the two bits (or more if you need) in a new edit.
Out of curiosity, can you post what format the video is in?
Copy a video straight from the camera to your computer.
Open it in Quicktime player, and with out playing type Apple + i
or Control + i for PCs
It should tell you lots of info about the video, and might help us to see what is wrong.

I have an animated video where a person clicks a button and an arrow appears coming out of the right side of the computer. I would like to make it look like the camera follows the arrow as it zooms along a zig zag path and eventually ends at another computer. Does anyone know of any good tutorials for this?

This is just a matter of keyframes for camera position and point of interest.You are probably not going to find a tutorial that exactly matches your project. Try this:
Open up 2 views, one active camera, one top view.
Set a position keyframe for the camera where you want the movement to start.
Drag the point of interest to point at your subject (animated arrow)
Using the top view and setting the CTI (current time indicator) to the end point of the camera move, move the camera's point of interest to the same position as the animated arrow
Still in the top view, move the camera to it's final position
Using the pen tool (keyboard shortcut g) add points to the camera position path and drag them into a zig zag shape using the top view
Selecting the Point of interest in the timeline, adjust the position of the point of interest to follow the arrow as it animates across the screen by moving the CTI and setting new positions.
Another thing you could do would be just to use a lookAt expression for point of interest. This would keep the camera pointed at the arrow.
Hope this helps. Animating a camera is one of the most basic skills an AE artist should have. It takes a bit of practice but it's not hard.

In my opinion,
* 70% of the job is getting white balance correct, since that will help baby look, in the picture, close to the same color baby was, in real life.
* 15% is selecting a camera profile that renders colors closest to how you want.
* 10% comes from HSL tool.
* 5% from locals (paint to touch up color).
Note: you may also need temp/tint locals if photo shot under mixed light: flourescent is greenish, incandescent is yellowish, flash is flash, daylight is different...
Note: numeric values are for illustration purposes only - the point is that you don't want to go painting until you've got everything else squared away, and you don't want to be mucking with HSL until you've got a fitting camera calibration profile selected and white balance adjusted.
Not sure what else to say, except color can be further refined (in addition to the above-mentioned) using:
* RGB curves
* split toning
* ratio of saturation to vibrance
* amount of contrast
* shadow-tint
and you can develop your own camera calibration profile just for baby skin if you want ;-)

You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Look though other Apple Mail folders like the junk mail and delete the mail that is in there. Look through your sent items folders and see there is any mail in there that can be deieted.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Other things you can do to gain space.
Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
