Anyway to make wifi work without monitor?

So we have a couple of computers where I work where the screen as broken and another where something was spilled on it and it fried the monitor connection on the board. The computers work fine without monitor on the laptop but obviously since there is no monitor the wifi antennas aren't attached. Is there anyway to power the wireless nic without the monitor attached to the macbook? Strange question I know but would love to get the wireless working.

If monitor removed, you cannot use the internal wifi unless you have USB dongle.
Wifi requires special antennas mounted behind the display for proper signal and communication, without screen, wifi cannot work effectively.

You change the length of a composition with the composition settings. There is no automatic way to expand a comp. If you need to add more time then press Ctrl/Cmnd + K or go to Composition>Composition Settings and change the time.
In the timeline, you can see more or less of the composition by adjusting the area of view using the icons at the bottom left side of the layer view.

Bootcamp from a working PC Windows XP hard disk. Anyway to make this work?

I did some "unplanned" experimentation yesterday while setting up my new Mac Pro. I wanted to install dual Raptors to do a fresh install of OSX. I removed the stock Apple drive, and installed my two Raptors, one of which was a "pull" from a working Dell Precision 470 workstation with Windows XP SP2 and dual XEON's. I'm not that famililar with Mac's, so when I turned it on, I couldn't figure out how to get the OSX CD into the drive for it to boot on, so the system started booting from the first drive bay (which had my Dell drive in it). To my surprise, Windows XP Pro started booting...all the way to the login screen! I logged in and up came Windows XP!! Of course, there was hardware that didn't have drivers (mostly chipset stuff that the intel chipset updates would fix).
My question is this...is there a way to put a working PC-based Windows XP PRO hard drive in one of the drive bays and just somehow configure boot camp to use that drive without having to reload windows?

Windows isn't my thing but I believe you should be able just install the drivers from the drivers CD that's made by the Boot Camp Assistant. You will have to start Mac OS X at least once and install Boot Camp to get the CD.

You can download the setup manual and software that you need.
Look on the bottom of the AirPort Extreme for the Model Number. It's A....... something.
Post back with the model number and the exact operating system you are running on your Mac or PC.

Skype for Windows Phone idea: Make it work

Oh, here's a brilliant idea - make it work. Simple enough?
Fix resuming the app. Make it fast enough so I can actually pick up a call.
Decrease battery drain. Currently when using skype my battery usage sometimes reaches 65% per hour. It's not even ridiculous anymore.
I'm not asking much, I don't need calling skype-skype a pleasant experience. Just make it work without requiring 1Gb/s bandwidth and quad-core processor with 8GB RAM.
Last but not least - make SkypeOut not a theoretical feature to lure people into paying subscription but something that actually works at least half the time.
I'm really not asking anything fancy like deleting some old messages or other things people mention. Just the basics of a communication app.
The funny thing is that we all know you don't give a s* about what we are putting here. Nobody's gonna read it anyway.
It's sad. I used to like skype, before the mobile revolution. Now... Just keep it going the way it's going and in two, three years you'll be a history like Blackberry or AOL

As for those "smaller improvements" I think everyone will agree with me that they are way too small, and they take much too long. I mean, seriously, 65% per hour battery drain! I am yet to find an app, ANY app that would be even remotely close to your "achievements". With improvements that small and slow I guess in 5 years skype will be using only 30% battery every hour. If I'm not expecting to be next to a power outlet within an hour or two I'm not even trying to use skype anymore. Exactly the same applies to resuming the app. I understand that there are some improvements but honestly improving by 50 ms is not an improvement that any user would appreciate. Again, in this matter skype is probably the worst or one of the worst among all communication apps in WP store. And it's not like it's a new app. Those "improvements" (exactly the same) have been announced from the very beginning and yet they are virtually unnoticable for an average user. Like I said before, sometimes it's impossible to answer a call because it takes too long to resume skype. And any improvement that doesn't make it possible is not really an improvement, from a user's point of view.
I really hope this changes and next fixes will be dramatic.
Now, SkypeOut problem. I cannot agree that it has anything to do with a carrier I'm trying to call. Here's why:
1. I'm calling the same people from desktop app, from metro app on my tablets and from my phone. Desktop - no problems whatsoever, Metro - pretty much good as well, Windows Phone - unusable most times.
2. When I try to call people from phone - it doesn't work at all, I tether a laptop/tablet to the phone, thus virtually using the same connection (ATT) - magically it starts working perfectly fine.
3. I'm calling landlines and all cellular carriers in Poland. Problems are with ALL of them using Windows Phone, and there are no problems using any other platform while calling exactly the same phone numbers. So, unless you have a problem with Poland in general, it wouldn't make any sense to blame the carriers.
4. For some reason, sometimes it actually works on the phone. But only sometimes.
Also, I noticed this behavior on Windows Phone:
1. SkypeOut works bad no matter what internet connection I'm using, whether it's 2Mb/s or 100Mb/s it's just a disaster (most of the times), and whether it's wifi or cellular.
2. Video calls quality is very poor also on both - wifi and cellular.
3. Voice calls are actually not that bad. Assuming that I can start the app before they hang up
I'm using Lumia 920 so I hope this phone is not too weak for your app. If it is - you're killing yourself limiting only to owners of the very newest phones packed with the best hardware available.

Can JMF work without installing it?

Last time i was on this forum i said i won't come back for some years because it's too advanced for me...but now i have this problem and i really want to solve it. I created a music player using JMF. But, if i want to move it on another computer, it requires to install JMF on that computer too. Is there any way to make JMF work without installing it... something like including a JAR in my project? If it is possible, could you explain me the steps, please? A music player isn't very good if it requires two programs to be installed in order to make it work (i mean Java 1.6 and JMF).

If you're using / doing anything that isn't supported by the cross-platform pack then you'll have to have JMF installed in order to run your program.
You can, of course, package the JMF installer with your own installer, and kick off the JMF installation process as part of your process. You can also track the location of the installed files and install JMF yourself, but, that's going to be complicated, tricky, and probably pretty brittle.

T420s + 2 monitor + integrated screen setup. How make it work?

I'm trying to make my T420s with integrated grahpics only work in a 3 screen setup. Im using no docking station but the configuration is said to be supported. But the software simply switches of one monitor when i activate the other and vise versa. The Intel grahpics and media software doesnt seem to even support a 3 screen configuration.
Anyone knows how to make it work?

OK. Just to get things clear since I always thought that the T420s with Intel integrated grahpics only would be able to drive 3 simultanious screens with one beeing the internal screen, while the T420s with Optimus is able to drive 4 if used with a docking station.
But apparently, the Intel integrated only version seems to be able to drive only two simultaneous screens, while the Optimus version is able to drive 3 without a dock and 4 with a dock. Correct?

Hey Calchick, I didn't read much of the details, only looked for key words, like offline, translation, etc. Illaass is correct, voice recognition and translation programs tend to be very large. If you have web access, you can talk in your native language and be heard in the foreign language. With out the web, your a text and read operation.
Personal experience, may help you, take of it what you will-- in BC time, (Before Computers) and traveling around, I found if you learn a few basic phrases in the language of the people you are visiting, i.e., things like, "Can you help me?", "Where am I" (have a map in hand when you ask this), "Where is the bathroom", "How much?", "Where do you go eat", "Where's the market?", "Take me to the pharmacy / hospital", and the most important phrase: "Thank You" I know, dumb examples but you get the point, about 20 phrases that cover the basics, who, what, where, when, and how, (think about the questions or things you would ask if you were in a city, in the country you now live, that you have never been in) and a working knowledge of some basic answers, (also, learn a few cruse words, that way you will know if your getting help or the butt of a joke), along with a translation guide book, you can get through almost any situation. Being able to speak even just a little of the other persons language, without using a device, will make most people want to help you, (unless you get a real A-hole), most people will help you if you make an attempt to learn and speak there language, even if it's just a little, (shows you cared enough to try). The translator app just replaces the book, and it will make it easier to learn the phrases. Remember; The app is just a tool, not your mouth. It can get a little rough at times, but generally works, got me through a few countries and made a few friends along the way. Having a soccer ball helps too! Hope this helps, have good travels. IMessage won't work without wifi

When I don't have wifi I can't use iMessage. Before I got the ios7 update I could no matter if I had wifi or not, now it won't work without it. Other people can't send me text message is they are still using iMessage. How do I fix it?

Go to Settings>Messages and make sure that "Send as SMS" is turned on. Also, if you want to be able to send longer messages or photos when not on Wifi (i.e., not iMessaging), then also make sure that MMS Messaging is turned on.

Absolutely sure.. There is no connection at all.. reset is only the router side of the TC.
For the hard disk to be erased you need to access the airport utility disk page.. request erase and confirm the operation.

I am uncertain why if you have access you cannot change settings.. but that is why you reset things so any of those problems should be fixed.

Getting external VGA monitor to work without cloning. [Solved]

Hey guys. I'm on a ThinkPad T42 with an older ATI card (ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500]). I'm using the open source drivers since I'm fairly sure the closed source drivers don't support this card.
Anyway, I can get an external monitor to work as a clone booting into X, but I can't get it to work as a separate screen. I've tried multiple xrandr commands, but it appears my card just won't do it.
This is my xrandr output when nothing's connected. Based on this, is it just not possible to do what I want?

It's giving me a 1600x1200 limit, no matter how far up I jack the virtual command in xorg. That's better than the 1024x1024 I was getting before the change, though.
Also, I'm using the GPL'd radeon kernel module (I assume it comes bundled with the kernel since I don't remember loading it) and the radeon driver from xf86-video-ati. I see that package also has an ati_drv.so, but I haven't used it.
I was pretty sure the Catalyst drivers don't support this card (ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500])
