Anyway to record video on PC using quicktime format

Hello,
Is there any program out there that allows you to capture DV video directly into a PC and capture it using the quicktime format instead of AVI?

Hey zero823!
I have an article for you that will assist you in attempting to import footage from your camera into iMovie. First, here is a general article about importing video and photos into iMovie:

  • Recording video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http.

As titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http?
What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server. Afterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?
How can I redirect the http request to the files I was recorded into my applications/appName folder? Or I need to somehow moved the recorded files to the /webroot folder?
    Thanks!

I probably have asked a stupid question.
My recorded streams are still saved in the applications/appName/streams folder.
And I redirect the www.mydomain.com/streams to point to the applications/appName/streams folder.
And the rmtp recorded streams are abled to connect through http now.

  • Exporting Video to Desktop using Quicktime

I am having problems with iMovie's YouTube uploader (get a message saying I can't upload movies larger than 10 minutes to YT)  so YouTube advised me to use theirs. My video is 10 1/2 minutes.
Should I use Export Movie or Export using Quicktime?
Please let me know if these QT settings are correct to export my movie. This particular movie is a 16:9 Widescreen movie.
Also how do I get a movie that is exported usin QT and then uploaded to YT to default to high definition? My videos never seem to be HD.

I think the Folks @ YouTube can help you with this:

How to ensure proper Audio/Video sync through a QuickTime conversion
MOV/MP4 files exported from programs such as iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and QuickTime Pro have certain elements that are not handled well by YouTube transcoding. In order to ensure optimal upload quality--and specifically that the Audio and Video of the file remain in sync--use the encoding settings outlined below.
    Export your video using QuickTime
In iMovie, select Share > Export Using QuickTime
In Finalcut Pro, select File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion >Options
In QuickTime Pro, select File > Export > Export: Movie to QuickTime Movie > Options
    Alter your video encoding
Enter a name for your file, and select Movie to QuickTime Movie from the Export dropdown.
Click Options and make the following changes to Video settings:
    Compression Type: H.264
    Frame Rate: 30 is preferred. 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 are also acceptable.
    Data Rate: Automatic
    Key Frames: Automatic
    Frame Reordering: Unchecked
Make the following changes to Audio or Sound settings:
    Format: AAC
Click Show advanced settings and choose Constant Bit Rateas encoding strategy.
Select Size and choose the original size of the video.
The section Prepare for Internet Streaming must be set to Fast Start.
Save your video, and then upload the resulting file to YouTube

    Hello Suzanne,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Do you have SP1 installed for Windows 7?
Is that a laptop or Desktop ?
What is the name of the manufacturer for your USB Webcam ?
What is the name of the manufacturer for your computer ?
Make sure you have Presenter 9.0.2 update installed. (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5690)

  • Compressing video for iPod using QuickTime 7 Pro ("expert")

    Hi all,
I purchased QuickTime 7 Pro thinking I would be able to compress 640x480 H.264 video for an iPod. I have a specific application that requires precise control over the compression -- that is, the no-option "Movie to iPod" export setting ain't gonna cut it.
I have tried many, many different setting combinations using "Movie to MPEG-4" and "Movie to QuickTime Movie" under "File" --> "Export" in QuickTime, and I have been careful to limit sizes and bitrates per iPod tech specs as published on the Apple Web site. However, while all of the H.264 files I have output will open in iTunes, none of them will sync to my iPod. Videos I output using standard MPEG-4 compression will sync to my iPod (and look awful), but videos using H.264 will not.
Does anyone know what settings I can use to export 640x480 H.264 video to my iPod, and how I can have more control over the process than just "Movie to iPod?"
    Thanks!
    -- Joey
What I got (the technical details):
WinXP Pro with all the latest updates on Intel
    5G 60GB iPod w/ firmware ver 1.2
    QuickTime 7.1.3 Pro
    iTunes 7.0.1.8
multiple Wintel machines   Windows XP Pro

    Welcome to the discussions, Joeysirmons.
The developer that created VisualHub (Only for the Mac) has discovered how to create iPod compatible 640x480 video where the user has full control over the compression. The changes he made were to some public libraries so these methods should be finding their way to the ffmpeg based tools for Windows soon.

  • Help is there anyway to record video ??

i have a 20" 2.1ghz g5 imac with built in isight and i guess ilife05...i havent bought any other software just what came with my computer...i have tried to record video using my built in isight but i cant find anything that works even in imovie....i dont want to purchase anything, i dont understand why i would have to...any help would be appreciated.

    Hi makeyurself,
Unfortunately the built in iSight won't normally work with the version of iMovie which came with iLife05. To use it with iMovie you have to update to iLife06.
There is a workaround, but it assumes that you have access to a FW DV movie camera.:
    1) Fire up iMovie and connect a DV camcorder,
2)go to import mode in iMovie,
    3) disconnect the camcorder
Bizzarely you should now be able to shoot using your built in iSight.
I suspect most people who want to do this, though, don't have ready access to a seperate DV camcorder!
Have a look at "EZ Jim's" page on Ralph Johns website at http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/EZJim/EZJimpage3.html for some more suggestions.
    Cheers

  • How to publish and record video stream in h.264 format

I'm a fresher. I want to publish and record video stream in h.264 and audio stream in AAC format .
Does flash player support to publish video stream in h.264 format ?
And which version of flash player and FMS could implement this function ?
    Thank you very much.

The Flashplayer does not support h264 or AAC publishing. The Flashplayer supports only h.263 (sorenson spark) video, and Nellymoser Asao and Speex audio.
If you want to publish h.264 you'll need to use Flash Media Live Encoder, or a third party encoder.

  • Recording video with audio using FaceTime

Hi, I'm stupid, I need help, this is probably very simple but I can't seem to make it work!
I have a new iMac 27inch, it has Facetime built in, or should I say it has a camera built in.
Basically I want to record a video for Youtube of me playing the guitar, how do I do this, is this possible.
I tried using iMovie, recorded away, played it back but there was no sound to it?
    Any help greatly appreciated. thanks

If you look in System Preferences (under the Apple menu) in the Sound pane, under the Input tab, what device is selected? If you make a noise do you see the Input level change?
    Best of luck.

  • Flex, Record video and audio using web camera to computer temp, then upload

    Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is 100% possible and have been looking around for  some time now for an answer but couldn't find one so have come here.
Basically I want to create a flex application that sits in a web browser, that allows people to connect using a webcam and microphone, then record a short video that gets held temporarily on the computer until they finish and then it uploads the whole video to a server.
I am able to achieve this by using a media server and streaming the video directly from the user to the server but this hinders the quality of the videos. On poor Internet connections the quality is rubbish.
Is it at all possible to save video files to a computers temp memory and then upload them ?
This would mean I can record the videos at a nice high quality and not have to worry about the Internet connection tampering with the quality.
    Many Thanks in advance !

Thanks for the reply.  I knew it was not possible to write to the C drive or the users computer at all.
But i really wanted to know if it was possible to write to a dataArray or byteArray within flex?
I should of mentioned this sorry.

  • No video with HDV using quicktime in windows

    Hi
I have a .mov file that i can't play in quicktime on XP
    its a 1080i50 HDV file
Has anyone managed to reslove the codec problem for this yet
    Thanks in advance

The file was probably made using Final Cut Studio and can only be opened on a Mac with that software.
Ask them to send you an H.264 version. They'll know what this means.

  • Video display problems using QuickTime 7.5.5

    Hi,
I am currently having issues displaying videos in all formats in Quicktime 7.5.5, particularly those with a medium or large frame size.
A link to a screenshot is given below:
    http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq2IbXxS
As you can see, the video is not displaying properly - some of the left-hand side of the frame is being replicated on the right-hand side, in a sort of split-screen effect - I don't know the technical terms for that problem, but it is a bit annoying to say the least!!
I have noticed that smaller videos (e.g. some mobile phone videos with a 176x144 size) are not suffering this problem with video display - but the questions I have are: what is going wrong, and how do I fix this?
Thank you in anticipation of your help!
    James (mr_m)

Still having the problem unfortunately; if anyone can help, it'd be appreciated!

DVDs use muxed mpeg video and QT will not export sound from such formats. QT Mpeg Limitations
One workaround is to demux the mpeg-2 to separate video and audio streams. Sorry, I don't have a link to a Windows demux utility but I am sure you can find one on the net. Convert those separately to QT formats and then use QT to combine the separate tracks into a single file, like mpeg-4, which the iPod should read. QT (if you buy the mpeg2playbackcomponent) will play and convert the video to other formats. For the sound you will have to use a separate sound utility to convert the mpeg sound stream to a QT compatible form like AIFF or Wave. This freeware application offers a Windows version that should do the conversion. Audacity

  • Problem Exporting a Video Originally Imported using F4V Format

the last version of flash i used with Macromedia Flash MX. Now i'm using Flash CS6, in fact this is my first time using it and i've been trying to get this task done for just over 12 hours now but i can't seem to figure it out....
I have 3 videos that i split up into 3 scenes using windows live movie maker
then i used media encoder to convert all the cenes to F4V
From there, i imported the first Scene of each video into individual layers in Flash CS6 used the "Load external video with playback Component Method
The reason why i use that method was because when i use the other method with the video in FLV format the video and audio was out of sync when i exported/test scene
with the load external video method it works perfect in test scene... pretty much the way i want it to, however when i export the video it doesn't even play my best guess is that's because each video is only on one keyframe. and needs to be converted and action added.
am i right? where do i go from here? how can i export these scenes... what am i missing?

these are the supported youtube formats:
    .MOV
    .MPEG4
    .AVI
    .WMV
    .MPEGPS
    .FLV
    3GPP
    WebM
and, of those, only mov and avi can be exported from flash pro.  those exports are usually unsatisfactory because flash pro is not a video editing program.  ie, you are using the wrong tool for the job.
    check adobe premiere.

  • Getting beach balls on some videos using Quicktime X with Perian

Hi, Some of my videos play perfectly using Quicktime X with Perian and with others I get the spinning beach balls. These videos seem to play fine when using VLC. Is this normal? Thanks

    Is this normal?
It could be. The "spinning ball" indicates the application is "busy" -- i.e., actively involved in some activity. QT is very touchy about things like timecode breaks and proper file terminations. In some cases, like "muxed" MPEG-2 content, the QT player actually has to trace the data stream from beginning to end before playback will begin. VLC, on the other hand, containes its own codecs and is geared to Windows specific contetnt types which may not rely on external time references like QT or whose data may be open-ended or contain numerous timecode breaks. Additional delays may be caused by continuous switching between 32- and 64-bit modes of operation and/or other complications/problems.
