Anyway to retrieve OSX system password?
A friend of mine has forgotten her password for her system (OSX 10.5.3).
I told her I don't believe there is anyway to retrieve it and that the partition the system is on will have to be erased and reinstalled... and that not even an Archive & Install would be possible.
I'm virtually certain that I am correct in this matter, but I'd appreciate confirmation (and of course if there is a way then a solution would be greatly appreciated).
Thanks.

Note: If using FileVault there is no way to recover or reset a password.

Forgot Blackberry Desktop Software Password .... anyway to retrieve itHi and Welcome to the Community!
If you are referring to the password you are prompted for when you attach your BB to your PC and run the Desktop Software, then it is the same password that you use to unlock your BB when it has been locked. They are the same.
Good luck!

How to retrieve the system used in an iview?
hello,
i'm currently having trouble retrieving the proper attribute of an iview to retrieve the system used by it.
it seem like the strings identifying the system in the iview differ in some iviews.
using either:
myIView.getAttribute(IAttriView.PORTAL_SYSTEM)
or
myContext.getAttributes("").get("System").get().toString()
produce errors.
while get("System") sometimes provides the correct system alias the attribute is none existant for other iviews where the string would be "Systemalias".
IAttriView.PORTAL_SYSTEM doesn't seem to work at all.
i did implement fail safe code if the attribute isn't present, however i don't know how to retrieve the system attribute without doing a case switch or something similar for all the different strings, which i would prefer not to do.
also, is there an easy way to retrieve all iviews which use a specific system without parsing the whole pcd and checking the attributes?Prerequisite : Create the System Alias for the systems used in the application.
Use the below code to retrieve the system details:
HashMap mapattr = new HashMap();
HashMap map = new HashMap();
IUser user = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser().getSAPUser();
IPrincipal principal = (IPrincipal)user;
ArrayList list = UMFactory.getSystemLandscapeWrappers();
ISystemLandscapeWrapper systemLandscape = (ISystemLandscapeWrapper)list.get(0);
//Portal System ALias name
ISystemLandscapeObject landScapeObject = systemLandscape.getSystemByAlias("<system alias name>");
IUserMappingData userMapping = (IUserMappingData) UMFactory.getUserMapping().getUserMappingData(landScapeObject,principal);
userMapping.enrich(map);
mappedUserId = map.get("user").toString(); // String "UserId"
mappedPassword = map.get("mappedpassword").toString(); //String "Password"
catch(Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Exception during retrieving the User Details - " + e.getMessage(),true);

Billing system password?
Nevermind how ridiculous it is just to get a new phone if you aren't an authorized user or if you don't have your account password (even though they have your name, ID, and phone number), but now I'm trying to activate said phone and it requires my billing status password, which I used correctly to procure a replacement phone when mine broke. Now when I enter it when prompted it's incorrect, both online and when I use the automated activation service on the phone. Why would it be wrong when it was right two days ago and how do I bypass Verizon's sadistic password policy to activate my new phone? I'd REALLY prefer not to go to the store because I've dealt with them twice already in one day and they are no absolutely no use.
FYI, my original phone's charging port was broken and wouldn't charge but has now suddenly revived itself. Maybe there wasn't enough charge in the battery to turn it on at the onset of charging? But the guy at the store determined that it was not the battery or charger and therefore had to be the charge port. I really would just rather send the new phone back and keep the old one as mine has no SIM card anyway and I don't want to go to the store and have them transfer all my contacts over to the new phone, and I don't want to do it manually either. It sure would save a lot more hassle than trying to get my billing system password resolved.Hello unicornhearts,
I'm so glad to see that your original phone is working. Thank you for sharing this discovery. I know how much of a hassle it can be to switch phones. The last thing we want is a simple security measure to be a frustrating process for you. If you haven't already activated your original device yet then please allow me to be the one to assist in getting this taken care of. May I ask what make and model device do you have? If it's a 4G device then the equipment can be activated by doing a super easy device change on My Verizon and a sim card transfer. If it is a 3G device then simply send me a private message with your full name, mobile number, and a brief summary of the issue. I can get this taken care of for you. I'm looking forward to your next reply.
Thank you...

Moving folder on windows server: system password
At work I work on a mac, but our files are on shared windows network drives. There's one perticular drive which causes our mac users problems. It doesn't happen on all folders/files, but on some of them the following happens.
I try to move a folder to another location, but then suddenly my mac asks for the system password. I fill that in and press ok, but nothing is moved. The folder is still in the same location. This only happens om certain folders and the funny thing is: when I try it on of the following days, the problem for that folder is gone and I can move the folder to the folder I wanted it to move. But in the meantime there are other folders which can't be moved.
Support - being not into Mac strangely enough - says it's a Mac problem and I should update to 10.7. But that's not the sollution. Also because colleagues of mine who work in other office don't have this problem. It happens only to me and my colleagues at the place/office where I work. The windows server is at some place else so everything goes via internet.
I keep insisting it's some kind of permissions thingy. Support says it's a Mac thing. What can be the problem and how can I make it clear to them that is ISN"T a mac thing?By the way, I noticed that with folder I can't move within a SMB share, those folders I also can't rename! I can move it's content but not the folder itself. Not on a Mac but also not on a Windows machine. I've created the folder on my Mac desktop myself. Then moved it to the SMB Share. Then I can't rename it and I can't move it. Have done this procedure several times and most of the time it works ok. But every now and then I stumble on a folder which wont move within the SMB share and in those cases I also can't rename the folder. The problem isn't that there is a file within open by me or someone else. It's like the SMB share seems to think there's some file open while there isn't. But that would be weird anyway, cause a folder can always be renamed even if a file in that folder would be open? Can someone shed some light into this problem? What could cause this bug? I know now it isn't my Mac's fault (which the windows fanboys of Support seem to think). As the folder can't be renamed/moved both on a Mac and a Windows machine. What could be the problem?

How can I reset my system password I forgot it and can't remove or purchase apps
I forgot my system password and can't retrieve it can anyone tell me how to reset it or recover it.
Resetting User Password in Lion, Mountain Lion & Mavericks
Boot into your Recovery Partition by hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting.
When the Recovery screen appears, go to the Utilities menu and open Terminal.
In Terminal, type:
resetpassword
...a small app will open and allow you to choose the user for whom you want to change the password. If you are the admin, be certain that you choose your admin user. Type in your new password twice and give yourself a good hint. Click OK (or Done or whatever) and reboot, enjoying the use of your new, hopefully memorable, password.
Good luck,

Since updating my iPad 2 to ios8, it safari has been slow and crashing and some of the apps acting wierd. The password app doesn't work at all so had to find another way of retrieving all my passwords. Very very dissapointing. It appears from these forums that a lot of people are having the same problems wit this latest update.
Hi erastyle,
Actually the Licensing information for the package is missing hence it is not launching any applications. You need to Reserialize the products using APTEE which you can find it on the Machine where you have created the package. If you dont have the access to that Machine then please download and install Creative Cloud Packager and it will download APTEE in the below mentioned location.
Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\CCP\utilities
Once downloaded please follow this KB article to use the Tool.

Please let us know if it helps.

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemit. MY safari will not open, it only comes up with a safari quit unexpectedly report. A new helper app appeared requesting my system password to download the helper. Stupidly I input the password, when I log off I can see the download icon for a split second still running asking to abort or continue. How do I sort this?

If you have another browser installed, use it.

On the computer go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if a backup is listed. If no backup then unless you backet up to iCloud then, as I said my first reply:
- If you used PhotoStream then try getting them (photos only) from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
