Anyway to stop Music list from jumping back to top?

Is there a way to tell iTunes not to reset to the top of my main music page when I click on a playlist and return to the main music library? It is quite annoying to click on a playlist and then go back to the music library and have the selection be at the top of the Artists rather than back to what is Now Playing in the main music library.

Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. I'm trying to figure out some pattern so I can be factual when I talk to Apple about this.
What is always wrong, is that the Column Browser always resets when you leave and return.

Sure, if they are not protected WMP files.
Drag the audio files from the folder to the Library in the Source list
or choose File > "Add File to Library" and select the song file or folder.

How do I move my music list from one external to another?

As per my post a couple of minutes ago, I do not want to run the risk of Itunes deleting all my Ipod files again.
I have put all my files onto an external hard drive. I was up until 4am this morning removing duplications in the music list. I never want to do that again.
Here is what I would like to do: the external HD is labeled as drive E under "preferences"; it is a drive that requires ac. I have copied all the files to a USB 60 gig drive. The USB drive shows up as drive F so Itunes would not be able to find the files. The last time that happened (i.e., 2 days ago), it erased all my Ipod files.
How can I make Itunes find all the files on the USB drive? If I can get that to happen I can always have the files with me.

Note: Canned response, so may not specifically address your questions, but may be enough for you to figure out what you want to do...
Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing.
If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...

If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location.

I can't stop my song from looping back to the beginning

I have created some backing tracks for a swing band that has lost its rhythm section and have to date played them back (via a big speaker) using Logic pro X on a macbook air.
I want to use my ipad instead as it's smaller and handier when you have to juggle with ipad, an instrument, sheet music and mutes etc..
I've succeeded in copying tracks exported from Logic into GarageBand iOS version using the "Export All Tracks as Audio Files" option. I imported them as individual tracks into GB and they play back just fine. However...
I can't stop them from looping back and starting again, which in a rehearsal environment I DO NOT need! I assume this is because I had to import them using the loop-loading tool - set to "audio" - in GB iOS. Can anyone help me get round this please. Or is there an iOS DAW that would do this job instead of GB?

Looks like playback for GB on iOS always loops the current section or the whole song. Export the songs to iTunes and you can play them as you want, probably putting each in its own playlist so it is easier to play once then stop, or by adding long silences between tracks that you can then skip when you are ready.

Help stop music disappear from ishuffle!

How can I stop the default in iTunes that is set to update iPod automatically. When you connect your iPod to your computer, iTunes opens, then transfers selected songs in your library and playlists to your iPod, and erases songs from iPod that aren't in the iTunes music library. Is there any simple way to overwrite this default setting and stop my songs from erasing just because they are no longer stored in the iTunes library???

Ok, what am I missing here? My iPod shuffle options in iTunes doesn't have an option to do manual sync vs autosync.
The only options I see are:
"Open iTunes when this iPod is attached"
"Keep this iPod in the source list"
"Only update checked songs"
"Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC for this iPod"
"Enable disk use"
That's it. Nothing about auto/manual sync. I wish it did. That way it wouldn't delete my songs when I forget to turn on my external hard drive (with my music files on it) before I plug it in to charge.

Stop music downloading from cloud

How do I stop my iPhone from downloading tunes from the cloud when the tune comes up in shuffle (which it shouldn't if it's not on the device in the first place)
It was recently restored and music I haven't sync'd back on the phone (mostly EP's I got from the 12 days of Christmas) keep downloading and playing as they come up on shuffle.
I have iTunes Match turned off in Music and iTunes settings.
I also have 'use mobile data' turned off in iTunes.
It only does it when I am on a wireless network thank god, but I don't want these tunes in my playlist. Once they do download I then can't seem to delete them either.

Thanks but I already did read all of the help notes, which aren't very helpful for this. I did find out the problem- Apple.....they evidently changed one of the major upsides to their old software- being able to back up your entire library onto dvd's- so you can longer do that or restore from the dvds created from older versions of itunes. I suspect greed is at play in that Apple now wants you to pay $24.95 per year to use a "cloud" service where they back it up for you. I can buy a lifetime supply of back up dvds for one year's worth of cloud. So I am now looking into other music software as I am Appled-out. There is no reason for them to take away the back up portion of the software other than to sell you thrir cloud service. As we have already given them a ton of money for 5 Ipods and a bunch of music, I think we have contributed enough. Time to look to solutions outside of the Apple money tree. But thank you for reading and replying.

How do you maintain different music lists on separate devices to be synched from one computer? Is it best to establish multiple ID's?

Help to stop Acordian from jumping to the top of the page

I was planning to use the accordian for a FAQ's page,
although I'm having a problem with it in IE.
The FAQ's page is fairly long and if i click a tab that I
have to scroll down to get to, then the accordian jumps back to the
start of the page and fixed the top edge of the accordian to the
top of the browser window (this is only happpening in IE7, and not
in Firefox, and I havent had chance to check it in IE6 yet.
Is there a way to stop this jump back to the top of the page

The behavior you see in IE is because of an IE bug that
appears when you try programatically focus an element to allow
keyboard navigation. If you don't need keyboard navigation, which
is default set on true for accordion, you can use an workaround to
avoid tha jump to the beginning of the page.
In the accordion constructor add this option
enableKeyboardNavigation set to false
(enableKeyboardNavigation:false).
Doing this that jump goes way, but you'll not be able to
navigate through accordion panels using keys.

How to fix a problem of access to itunes music-list from iPhoto

I cannot get access to my Music list present on iTunes from iPhoto (diaporama), nor from iMovie (the music icone is fine, click open it, but it is empty)
However access to iTunes Music is possible from the former iMovie HD application that I kept.

I have people that need to be able to scroll up and read back in Chat .. but they lose their place every time when it jumps back down with a new post.

Opening any link causes location in current page to jump back to top of page.

I have FF set to open all new windows in a new tab which was the default setting. Whenever I open a link, the new link will open in another tab, but on my current page/tab I will be transported back to the top of my current page/tab. You can imagine how annoying this is especially on long pages. Does anyone have a solution for this? One thing I have tried is highlighting some text near the link I am about to open and sometimes this will prevent the page from moving back to the top when I open the link, but not always. Thanks for looking, (FF 3.6.18 on linux)

Just FYI I restarted in safemode, and chose to continue without selecting any of the options just as you said. I tried clicking on links further down in the page, and the page DIDN'T jump back to the top! I checked to make sure the default theme was selected which it already was.
When I restarted Firefox in normal mode, it continued to do the right thing and did not jump to the top for each link open. I have no idea why your solution worked, maybe it reset something? anyways, thank you again, wonderful help!

Page down/scroll in iTunes store jumps back to top of page

I can't scroll/page down in the iTunes store without it jumping back to the top of the page after about 1 second. Tried using keyboard arrows/page down, mouse click/drage scroll bar, mouse scroll button. Just downloaded the latest update but didn't fix problem. Any ideas?

I also have had the same problem for months now. The updates do not fix the problem. Is there anyone out there with an answer?
Sometimes out of the blue I will click somewhere on the itunes store screen and it will stop doing it but, I can't repeat it the next time I open Itunes. It always just wants to stay scrolled all the way to the top on every itunes store page.

Google search result page jumps back to top when opening a result in a new tab

when searching from www.google.com, using 100 search results per page.
i will scroll down the page, find a hit worth looking at, right click on it to open it in a new tab, and then immediately the search result page will jump back to the top.
whereupon i will have to again scroll down to where i was to look a subsequent search results :-(

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
