Anyway to synch notes/ideas to nano

although i always hated the palm, the one thing i liked was that you could type ideas into a notes folder than download the folder onto your palm so they were there to reference. does apple have anything like that? i know i can put the calender and address book, but if I wanted to have notes/ideas how would i do that?
thanks

From the iPodnano_FeaturesGuide.pdf page 41:
Storing and Reading Notes:
You can store and read text notes on iPod nano if it is enabled as an external disk (see page 35). 1 Save a document in any word-processing application as a text (.txt) file. 2 Place the file in the Notes folder on iPod nano. To view notes: Choose Extras > Notes.
The files don't need to be saved with .txt extensions. I have python scripts (.py) on mine.

  • 3.0 Synch Notes with Exchange?

Is it possible to synch notes with Exchange now with 3.0 - it does calendar, email etc., so I thought this would be a logical enhancement since they worked on the notes app?
if it's not supported, is there anyway to synch exchange notes through some other method? Thanks,

Yes, notes will sync with Outlook through iTunes, just not over the air.

  • Pc not updating ipod nano

I have 2 ipods connected to my computer in different settings. I have 120 songs in nano library and 67 on the nano. It will not update. cannot drag them into ipod either. I have tried everything. Please help

To change your setting, make sure ipod is plugged in and go to edit / preferences / ipod and select manual update. Then you can drag and drop. Hope it works for you.
NOTHING is working for me... tried everything... brand new nano. downloaded cd track to library... auto update doesn't work; manual update doesn't work. Uninstalled all ipod/itunes/quicktime programs and reinstalled the most recent version from apple website. Songs in library will not load onto Nano.
Bummer. I have spent waaaay too much time trying to make your product work... also have used my one complimentary support (which took approx. 31/2 hours.)
I'm onboard with the idea of this technology but the technology is not up to par. Feeling let down!

  • Why can't I use my normal mail account for synching notes

    Hi there,
I maintain my father's iDevices/computers as he has Parkinsons and does not understand the technology behind how these services work. I need to maintain as simple a configuration as possible. As an example calendaring is difficult as new entries are not necessarily put in the calendar he uses and I have to talk him through how to show all calendars on a regular basis. I can't have his mail on IMAP as he cannot manage his mail and his mailbox fills up. I can't simply pay for storage ad infinitum - my local copy of his mail is about 6 GB and growing.
I have seen several discussions where it is clear that we *must* use an icloud.com e-mail account for synching notes via IMAP, but none of them have explained WHY I MUST USE @icloud.com e-mail. If this is an IMAP based service why can't I use any other IMAP server
I see that it is referred to as an "icloud account" but if I have to enable mail, it becomes an e-mail account, which I do not want as it will be confusing if there is an issue with the main mail server (which I maintain) it will present an option to use the icloud.com e-mail as a valid option to send the mail.
I do not turn on the mail option in icloud.. (only calendar, contacts, reminders and find my iphone). I find it dissapointing that this is now what seems to be a "requirement".

That is absolutely unnecessary, but more convenient to have icloud to sync your notes. I use other IMAPs as well and can sync my notes with google and yahoo and icloud(corresponding email is required in all cases). It is your choice and you can pick your poison, but you will find out that icloud is more convenient after you or him will lose his info few times. There is no requirement, you can even use the group that will not sync with anything "on my device" if you disable all of IMAPS. Icloud is just the one that you can call Apple and normally people prefer to work with Apple support way more then with google's or yahoo's, but that is again up to your preference.

  • Windows XP Media Center Edition does not suport ipod nano...need programs

I was just informed by Apple Service that Windows XP Media Center does not support ipod nano, but that there are online programs available that would allow me to use my ipod with Windows XP Media Center. Does anyone know of these porgrams?? If so, could you recommend a website? Thanks!

was just informed by Apple Service that Windows XP Media Center does not support ipod nano
    Correct. Sort of.
Windows Media Center is not a computer. Just as Mac OS is not a computer. It is a operating system. (a version of Windows XP).
You have a PC with Windows XP Media Center.
You cannot use Windows Media Center OS to load the iPod.
You need to load iTunes to manage the iPod.
And yes, you can use the iPod Nano on Windows XP Media Center.

  • Does not recognize ipod nano

I was able to connect nano to one computer in house no problem, but the computer that my son uses and has all his music does not recognize the nano. I have gone through the online troubleshooting with no results. Anyone with any suggestions?

How new is it? And if it is a different computer you would have to register the Ipod.

  • Can't synch Notes or Contacts from iPhone 3GS after upgrade to iOS5

After I upgraded to iOS5 on my iPhone 3GS, I no longer can synch Notes and Contacts from iPhone to Outlook or iCloud. Calendar synchs OK.

After 2 hours with Apple Support, which was great, we figured out the issue. 1-800-my-iphone. When I upgraded to iOS5 and started using the iCloud, I was unaware that my previous synching settings were still set to Yahoo.com where I had been sycning wirelessly in the past. So the Apple support tech showed me that I had multiple accounts in both Notes and Contacts. I had iPhone, iCloud, yahoo, Outlook accounts and my default settings on the iphone should have all been set to icloud. Syching was occuring, but not in icloud. It took a little manual conversion of some Notes and Contacts into the icloud folders in Outlook, but now everything works and I only display and use the iCloud accounts in Notes and Contacts. Apple realizes that this is an issue for those of us that were previously using Yahoo and equivalents for wireless synching and they provded my support free. Usually they charge $27. All is well.

Okay. Have you tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • How to synch notes

    Hi everyone
I must be missing something here, because I can't seem to do the simplest thing. All I want to do is sych notes or text files with my pc and phone. I don't even mind dropping/dragging them, so it dosn't have to be automatic synch.
In OVI suite, the notes tab tells me that I cant synch notes without outlook, which I don't have.
In PC Suite it will send a text file to the phone, but it drops the file in e/others, now this destination can be changed, but I can't find the folder where nokia notes looks ?
So, does anyone know which target folder I need to set Pc Suite to so that notes will open the text file. Or is there another way which this will work; I am trying to use an app which can be on the phone desktop so that I don't have to navgate through file manager.
    Cheers
    Steve

The way I do it is to use my Ovi account and sync OTA, simply send the settings to your phone from your Ovi account and follow the instructions. It's not exactly what you want, but it means you can check it out from any computer, and sync your Contacts, Calendar and Notes from your phone anywhere !
    Good Luck

  • Power adapter not charging my nano

I bought a Sonnet USB Power Adapter for iPod some time ago when I owned an iPod nano 1st generation. Now I have a 3rd generation nano. I went to Sonnet's website and noticed that the 3rd generation iPods are the only ones the adapter is not compatable with. I was just wondering if anyone knew why that is--it just makes me mad that I can't use the adapter anymore.
    here's the website
    http://store1.sonnettech.com/productinfo.php?cPath=44_49&productsid=162

You are confusing iPods here. The Sonnet page says it is not compatible with third generation iPods (released back in 1993). NOT 3rd generation nanos.
The 3rd generation iPods were the first ones compatible with Windows, so they supported USB data syncing, but they still had to be charged off a Firewire connections since Apple had not yet implemented USB charging/power pins on the dock connector yet.

  • Itunes does not have a Nano icon??

My itunes has no "source list" so I can not eject my nano. It also means I do not have a "music tab", or "sync music" My itunes looks nothing like the examples shown--it's a tan color-not blue. How doI eject if I don't have that option?
    Very frustrated!!
    Thanks
    Delraye

    Thanks for your reply again.
My nano has an orange circle with a usp port pictured inside and below it says Connected
Eject Before Disconnecing (which I am unable to do)
I thought I had downloaded 7.5 but after checking the "About iTunes" I found that it didn't work and I only have 4.8. So I am currently trying it again.
Do you think I will damage the nano if I unplug the usb cord?
It's late--I need to go to bed. If I sound frustrated that's cuz I am.
I will check any replies tomorrow--they are all very welcome!!
    Thanks

  • ITunes does not recognize my Nano after update to 7.6.0.29

I recently updated my iTunes software to version 7.6.0.29 and my Nano 3rd generation is not recognized anymore. Once it is plugged into the computer, Windows locates it and opens up the Windows Explorer. iTunes does not find the Nano at all.

I have a similar problem with the iPhone. Tried everything you can think of and then some. There is apparently some devastating bug 7.6 introduced into normal USB device recognition. I've been able to force the phone into recovery mode; the boot recovery USB driver does still work. Restoring the phone every time I need to sync is both scary and time-consuming.
