Anyway to un update the w520 usb 3.0?
Since I have updated the usb 3.0 drivers, none of my usb 2.0 devices work. Is there anyway to reverse the update?
Or at least is there a way to force the usb 3.0 into 2.0 mode?

It turns out that my usb.inf file was corrupted some how. I followed these steps to fix this issue.

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit workstation, and wanted to note that voltz solution about the usb.inf file worked for me. Here is what I actually did:
Browse to 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usb.inf_amd64_neutral_e2b28ecac19a29af'
Copy usb.inf and usb.PNF to 'C:\Windows\INF\'
Update drive on unknown devices
-- In Device Manager, right-click and select Properties
-- Select Driver tab
-- Click 'Update Driver' button
-- Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'
-- Enter 'C:\Windows\INF\' in the Search for driver software in this location field and click Next
After that, the Unifying receiver was found and everything was great!

After copying the usb.inf and usb.PNF to the c:\windows\INF\ directory, my usb devices started auto-detecting correctly.
Whether or not the usb 3.0 caused this, I don't know. But, this is how I fixed it for my laptop.

It is "last years model" and it came shipped with Mac OS X 10.7.5. I was just wondering if I could update for free since it is brand new mac?
Supposedly if you purchase 10.8 and check out, if the machine is one on the list the account is not charged.
I can't confirm this, but that's what one person reported back as what occured. -
How do you update the iTunes library?
I added some old songs to the Music-folder in Win Vista (which is also the iTunes-folder) but they dont show up in iTunes 11?
I used "Add folder to library" but now there is 3 of everything even tho there's only one of each. Also all the songs I deleted from my comp are still in iTunes, even after I used "Add folder to library"?

I recently updated my iphone 4s for verizon. Its the newest update..anyways it ran through the processs of updating and then told me to plug it into my computer. I did and the only option i got was to restore my iphone. I did and on my iphone the bar loaded to about 75% and stopped. My computer came up with an error. It said it was unavailable to restore this is iphone and unknown error occured. I tried using a different cord different usb slot checked my computer software updated my itunes but the same effect happened. I am getting very worried that my iphone is going to go in the trash soon. Can anyone help with annoying problem.

Hitachi Touro Desk 2GB USB 3.0 incompatible with the W520
I bought one of these:

for the purpose of doing regular windows system images so I can restore the complete system in case of problems.
Surprisingly, the crystal mark shows the USB drive being faster than my internal WD 750GB Scorpio Black, which I always thought was dog slow.
However, this drive does not work with the W520 and windows system image. You always get:
The backup failed.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. (0x8007045D).
First Hitachi told me that this was a known Microsoft incompatibility with all 512E drives (i.e. 4k blocks physically, 512k logicaly), which is false as I have two other 2GB 512E drives which work just fine (Vertbatim and a WD) with system image.
Then they said it must be the computer chipset and USB drivers (both are up to date).
So its RMA.

You must update the hard drive firmware then check it may resolve the issue.

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?

My HP (USB connected) and Epson (wireless) printers keep losing their connection with my Mac mini. I have to physically disconnect the HP and then reconnect for the Mac to find it. Turning off the wireless Epson doesn't resolve anything. All software/drivers have been updated.

While updating my iPad to ios7, it got stuck on the iTunes-USB screen and is frozen. No other screen shows up when I turn it off or on.

Prior to starting the update you took a backup ? If not then it's now too late to do so, you will need to reset the iPad back to factory defaults and you can then restore to your last backup or resync your content. -

If it is a PowerBook G4 with a PC Card slot, you have two possibilities. You could buy a USB card reader for SD, or a PC Card adapter (such as SanDisk's 6-in-1adapter). Please note that you are or may be limited to plain SD (that is, not SDHC) unless otherwise noted. For a USB reader, make sure that it has Mac support. BTW, is an SD card absolutely necessary for the firmware update; is there not a way of updating via cable? If you post back with the camera model, someone may be able to provide additional information.

It helped earlier but it has come back again. I don't know what to do. I tried what you said earlier but this time even this is not working either. And quite intrestingly my phone won't turn off. I turn it off, it goes off and then restarts on its own and then keep giving the same message again and again.
Could it be a charging cable, is there any chance that the cable which was working fine one day could turn to be "incompatible" with iphone the other day????????
