AO 1.4.7 - HANA Connectivity

Hi,
Recently we have upgraded to AO 1.4 SP7. The only new feature that is mentioned in the what's new document is "You can create local HANA connections in the Select Data Source dialog" as shown in the below screenshot.
My doubt is, what exactly is new here ? Because we already have HANA connectivity in earlier versions or Service Packs. Can someone please explain this in detail ? We are currently on BW and planning to move to HANA in future.

I agree with Tammy.
It is necessary to install the HANA ODBC middleware on the local machine where the tool is running.
I Mean to say,
Earlier : In order to see HANA systems in Analysis Office you need to goto location
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
and then add HANA system
Now :
Instead of going to location, you can directly add HANA system in Analysis Office
using "Create New SAP HANA Connection.." option in Select data Source Dialog
But It is necessary to install the HANA ODBC middleware on the local machine

For some period of time every day i find the Hana Connections to be not responding and it gets fixed on its own. Has someone already faced the similar issue or aware what to do ?

Are all the Master servers up and running fine (or maybe you have 2 and 1 is "down" and enabled)?
The connectivity is tested when clicking on the Manage Spaces tab and it tries to connect over the network to the HANA server. If for some reason there is no reply within 5 seconds (configurable I believe), which could probably happen when HANA is under a heavy load, the connection will show as broken. If you improve your HANA connectivity, this should not appear anymore (or extend the timeout).
I am wondering now, looking at your list, if that connectivity timeout is on all of the connections together, hence all of them appear inactive. It would in that case just require 1 unresponsive HANA connection to make all others fail.
I would suggest to test all the connections in IDT when the issue appears and maybe at the same time have the Adminstration perspective open in HANA design Studio to see the load on the different servers (which may require a lot of swithching between windows).
This SAP Note gives some indication to a single problematic connection: 1979585 - In Explorer under Manage Spaces, HANA connections shows "NewDB server does not respond".

SAP CAL HANA - Connectivity issues

I deployed SAP HANA on AWS through SAP CAL.
I can connect to the HTTP interface and the HDB through the command line.
hdbsql=> \c -i 00 -u system

hdbsql HDB=>
But if I try to connect to port 30015 remotely I just timeout. I have the 30015 open to the world in the AWS security group.
Is there a daemon that runs on the server that accepts remote connections or do I have a AWS network issue I need to investigate?

Most probably you are behind a corporate firewall that does not allow you to connect to port 30015. Could you try to connect from another network?

SAP Design Studio ODBC Driver Not Found error while creating HANA connection.

Hi,
While creating SAP HANA ODBC connection in Design Studio via Tools > Preference > Application Design > Backend Connection. I am getting error ODBC Driver Not Found. Error screen shot is attached.
My Design Studio version is 1.3 win 32 bit
My OS Win 7 64 bit
I have installed both HANA client 32 bit and 64 bit.
I have tried creating DSN ODBC connection via "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe" and via Control Panel > Administrative tools > Data Sources(ODBC). But it does not detect it either.
I am not sure what needs to change to let Design Studio know which HANA client driver to use.
Please help!.

there is no option for that available.
To change the current schema it's required to run SET SCHEMA <schema_name> after you logged on.

Creation of Universe based on Hana OLAP connection

I have to create a universe in IDT 4.1 sp2 based on SAP HANA OLAP
connection ?
How can i access SAP HANA view which was created using OLAP connection in Business objects Explorer? It does not allow creating Universe on top of SAP HANA OLAP connection and gives an error
SAP Business Objects query and reporting applications can directly connect to OLAP SAP HANA connections. No universe is required, only a published OLAP SAP HANA connection.

Open HUB ( SAP BW ) to SAP HANA through DB Connection data loading , Delete data from table option is not working Please help any one from this forum

I have SAP BW system and SAP HANA System
SAP BW to SAP HANA connecting through a DB Connection (named HANA)
Whenever I created any Open Hub as Destination like DB Table with the help of DB Connection, table will be created at HANA Schema level ( L_F50800_D )
Executed the Open Hub service without checking DELETING Data from table option
Data loaded with 16 Records from BW to HANA same
Second time again executed from BW to HANA now 32 records came ( it is going to append )
Executed the Open Hub service with checking DELETING Data from table option
Now am getting short Dump DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN getting
If checking in SAP BW system tio SAP BW system it is working fine ..
will this option supports through DB Connection or not ?
Please follow the attachemnet along with this discussion and help me to resolve how ?

Here the issue is At OH level ( Definition Level - DESTINATION TAB and FIELD DEFINITION )
in that there is check box i have selected already that is what my issue even though selected also
not performing the deletion from target level .
SAP BW - to SAP HANA via DBC connection
1. first time from BW suppose 16 records - Dtp Executed -loaded up to HANA - 16 same
2. second time again executed from BW - now hana side appaended means 16+16 = 32
3. so that i used to select the check box at OH level like Deleting data from table
4. Now excuted the DTP it throws an Short Dump - DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN
Now please tell me how to resolve this ? will this option is applicable for HANA mean to say like , deleting data from table option ...

Can I create universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection ?
How can i access SAP HANA view which was created using OLAP connection in WEBI and Dashboard? It does not allow creating Universe on top of SAP HANA OLAP connection and give an error.
SAP BusinessObjects query and reporting applications can directly connect to OLAP SAP HANA connections. No universe is required, only a published OLAP SAP HANA connection.

OLAP connection are only meant for tools that make use of OLAP connectivity only like BEx ..and HANA analytic views and calculated views are also treated as OLAP cubes for them..
So these connection is only available with analysis product like Analysis Office (which is meant to be used with Bex or OLAP cubes ) and Design studio which is again mainly built around OLAP paradigm..
You can not create a universe or Webi on Olap connection on HANA as of now.. However it could be like exposed in a future release of BO which is not public yet...

ECC connectivity with HANA

Hello Experts,
We are working on SAP R/3 system. Now client wants to move to SAP HANA. (connection with R/3 and HANA is done)
Currently, all the processing and queries are executed on R/3.
The requirement is to either execute the queries on HANA and display the data on R/3 continuing the existing system OR to execute the reports on HANA and display them on R/3.
I'm very new to this and have no clues about this.
Please suggest if this is feasible. If yes then kindly suggest how.
Any third party connector/extractor is required?
Kindly explain in details, the steps that we need to perform.

How should I write HANA JDBC URL for windows authentification?

     I got a HANA configured windows AD authentification, which already be tested successfully on HANA Studio.
     Now my app want to use JDBC to establish a HANA connection, but I have no idea how to append the parameter at the end of the JDBC URL.

Hi Spring,
The URL format is
jdbc:sap://hostnameorip:portnumber
Portnumber is 3<instancenumber>15 -> for a instance 01 should be 30115.
The class is com.sap.db.jdbc.Driver found on ngdbc.jar library (This don't come with Studio, get it on SAP HANA Client)

Error while using UTP_MAIL package in oracle 10g

Hi,
I am using the UTP_MAIL package to send a mail from oracle 10g.
I hane connected to the database as sysdba,but while setting the SMTP_SERVER_OUTPUT parameter i get the following error.
SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET smtp_out_server='blrkecmbx02.ad.abc.com:25' scope=both;
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02095: specified initialization parameter cannot be modified
Pls help to figure out a solution.

This parameter is not modifiable, check the Oracle Reference: SMTP_OUT_SERVER Initialization Parameter
Try the scope=spfile instead of both.

Transfer of iPod photos to Mac

During my holidays in Africa, I transferred many photo's from my camera onto my iPod, in order to free memory in the camera. I did this several times. All photos are perfectly tranferred and visible on my iPod.
However ...
I now like to transfer the photos from the iPod to my PowerMac for further processing!
The manual does not explain how to do this.
How can I accomplish this? Can anyone help?

Connect your iPod as normal. Open iPhoto. The iPod will load and you can then import as normal (as if the iPod were a digital camera). On a side note, I had about 1000 photos on my iPod (transferred via the camera connector in several rolls i.e 150ish photos a roll) which I wanted to import. I found that the only way to get them off the iPod was to enable disk use and then drag the photos across into iPhoto. I think there is a bug with iPhoto / the iPod when trying to import a large number of photos put on the iPod via the camera connector, seeing as I tried to import a few photos after I had imported the 1000 and it worked perfectly. Post back if you have any problems.

I can ingrore it and simply truncate log file as this is our sandbos, but maybe smb has an idea what needs to be done on Hana server. After the trace was enabled for Statistics server i got nothing actually, the same errors without reasonable explanation. There are no errors to/from hana connectivity.
We do not have have Sapcotrol up and running and red alert mark is on Overview tab available. Could that be the cause of this?

How to connect an non-hana-ewm with an Hana-ECC and vice versa

Hello,
for our migration project planning I am wondering how to connect EWM on SAP with ECC on Hana and vice versa.
As it is, both systems are (productive) on non - hana with actual SAP-Release and have to be migrated.
The background of my question: we may be not able do the "big bang" thing to migrate ERP ECC607 and EWM (with special Add-Ons) at one point to Hana (DMO) and therefore may need an interim solution. I checked ETL and LTS as "connectors" but they - from my point of view - are one-way solutions from EWM to ECC/Hana -not bidirectional.I Found some questions concerning the same theme in the net but no solution at all till now..
How about BODS ? (Didnt work with it yet)

Great. So I have to either install OS X, or buy a new mcahine. Can OS X run on a G3 without grinding to a halt?
By the way, I cannot get the iPod to even mount when connected via firewire. The USB/firewire PCMCIA card does not have drivers for OS 9. I thought that this support was built into OS 9. The USB port works (although the iPod will not mount when connected via USB either). Any ideas?
