  • Asian Text options on Photoshop CC

    Hello!
Well, I was working with japanese text on Photoshop CC and when I was going into its formatation, I wasn't able to do the specific asian options because they do not appear. I already enabled them as I saw on the site once, and it worked fine while I was using Photoshop CS6. (by specific options I mean mojikumi/kinsoku)
Any tips how to solve this?
    Thank you in advance!

The first thing to check is Preferences > Type and mark "East Asian Text Engine" and restart Photoshop.
Then in Photoshop's Type menu > Language Options > check East Asian Features   There you should see your Kinsoku/Mojikumi options and other East Asian selections in the Character and Paragraph Panel Menus.
I'll guess you have suitable Japanese fonts and an IME It should then work as in this example with the Vertical Type Tool.
It's been a while since I played with Japanese text, but this should get you in the right direction.
Another great thing about CC 2014 is that you can install a Japanese Language pack and change your User Interface to Japanese in the Interface Preferences at no extra charge.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Asian text on 30" display

Does anyone have suggestions for improving the clarity of asian text on a 30" display? I find that unless I drastically enlarge the font size, some of the strokes are blurred and unrecognizable.

    Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and the support article linked below for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode* (by holding down the shift key at the startup chime) to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.
    Mac 101: Font Book
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, after running Font Book, launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. After running the command, reboot as usual.

  • AOL/ AIM webmail and Safari??

I haven't logged into the online AOL/ AIM webmail in awhile, but it has worked just fine using Safari. Today, when I tried to login, I get a window that says "you are not logged in" and click it, and it just loads and repeats. Underneath thtat window, I see a window that says "welcome to the new AIM mail" but it and the underlying web page are greyed out so I can't use it.
I have done all the latest updates from Apple, repaired permissions, run Macjantor, deleted the saved password in Safari, emptied cache, history, and cookies.....

    Hello powerbook:
FWIW, I just tried AOL web mail and logged in fine (www.aol.com).
One thing you have not tried is to trash the preference files. Do a "find" on "plist." Then trash anything that has Safari or AOL in the www.apple.xxxxx.plist (xxxxx is the area you will look at).
    Restart and try it again.

  • I cannot log into messages with my aol/aim account

    Hi,
When I try to log into messages with my aol/aim account, it keeps on saying that the username and/or password is incorrect. Neither are incorrect as I can log into the account on the aim web settings page and on the aol page.
    Any help?
    Thanks

If you change your passord on AOL, for security they block your new password on your iPad but not on your PC. I downloaded the AOL application on my iPad and then used that to change my password on AOL and then my Mail on my iPad fully works. I then used my AOL new password on my PC and now everything works.

  • AOL AIM Problem

Hi Guys just attached a Creative Live effects webcam no problems The problem arises when I use my AOL video message I can see & hear my friends but they can only hear me. They can't see me this has happened to my friends using a Mac & Desktop. Any help much appreciated. Regards,Steve

Have you tried creating a second AIM account? and see if it also comes up the same way when chatting with friends?
It's possible that when you were using AIM on another system and customized your profile or display name, it may of appeared in another way.
I don't use AIM Software at home I use
    Pidgin
    Digsby
    Trillian
    Adium
All these are all in 1 chat programs, Mainly for PC and other for Mac. But I do chat people from my iPhone using AIM or SMS responses. They never see the DIV at all.
Make a test account and see if it still happens. Make sure to check for App updates for iPhone and update your AOL AIM App if there is an update.

  • Does AOL  AIM work with I chat

    Ok
lets say i go to AOL AIM and sign up as Coffeehouse Schmuck
can i instant message AND recieve instend messages from my dial-up Aol buddies with I-chat on my Mac
None of my freinds have MACS
but i still wanna IM them

No, iChat will work with AIM and you do not need to download AIM for Mac to get it to work.
To remove one of your buddies, select it in your buddy list, then in the Menu Bar, choose Buddies > Remove Buddy...
iChat also supports the Jabber IM protocol, and it seems from your post that iChat tries to connect to your buddy using Jabber instead of the AIM protocol & network. Why, I can't explain. Maybe you can get more help in the iChat forum.

  • IChat to AOL/AIM image quality question.

This is a question about the image quality during a video chat from AOL/AIM and Trillian Pro on PCs to iChat on Macs. The details of the computers, connections and cameras are:
I'm running 10.4.8 on a MacBook Pro (2.33GHz CPU, 2GB RAM) with iChat AV 3 with a DSL connection that averages 1.24 Mbps DL and 271 Kbps UL and an external iSight camera.
My mother is running 10.3.9 on an iBook (1.33 GHz CPU, 256 MB RAM) with iChat AV 2.1 with a DSL connection that averages 155 Kbps DL and 146 Kpbs UL and an external iSight camera.
My sister is running Windows (not sure which version) on a Dell Dimension DIM4600 (2.60GHz CPU, 512MB RAM) with Trillian Pro with a DSL connection that averages 1.29 Mbps DL and 446 Kbps UL and a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 with QuickCam 8.3.0.
When I video chat with my mother my picture to her is good and her picture to me is good.
When I video chat with my sister my picture to her is good, but her picture to me is bad. The slightest movement causes the image to go break up into large squares that settles back down a decent image when the movement ends.
When my mother video chats with my sister, my mother's picture to my sister is good, but my sister's picture to my mother is bad. Again, the slightest movement causes the image to go break up into large squares that settles back down a decent image when the movement ends.
Also I have a friend (some kind of PC, some kind of Logitech webcam) using AOL/AIM 5.9 (I think) with cable modem connection (I don't know the speed). When I video chat with him my picture to him is good, but his picture to me is bad. Again, the slightest movement causes the image to go break up into large squares that settles back down a decent image when the movement ends.
    Does anyone know if:
    (1) this kind of behavior "par for the course" with PCs over the AOL/AIM network?
    or if
    (2) there is some "switch" in Trillian Pro and AOL/AIM 5.9 that needs to be thrown to improve the image (like the Bandwidth switch in iChat preferences)?
    or
    (3) is the camera or camera connection (USB vs. Firewire) that causes the problem?
    Thanks.
P.S. I know the speed of my mother's DSL connection seems slow, but because our video chat images both ways are good I don't think that's the problem here.

    Hi James,
I can relate to this somewhat based on AIM 5.9 to Macs.
You may be able to use the information to sort Trillian out further.
Ok first start a chat and then open the Connection Doctor from the Video menu at your end.
The Bit rate should be well over 100 for both of you.
Her Frame rate should be at least 10fps.
Now when on AIM 5.9 the framerate drops to about 1fps to the ichat end it is usually because the Pic Quality is set too high on the PC end. It then spends so long producing one frame it slows down sending the video.
To change this on the AIM app a user has to do the following.
They click on the preview tab (there are two; one for your incoming and one for their preview).
With the preview as the front tab a small icon appears to the right of the pic.
Clicking on this brings up a slider.
Sliding the slider to the left reduces the quality.
Visually you may not detect this but the effect is sort of converse in that the frames are produced faster as less detail is in them and the video frame rate goes up and therefore looks smoother.
I have not heard of Trillian needing this and consequently would not know where specifically to direct you.
I would start with the Preferences/Properties of Trillian and see if there are any setting there for output.
Look at size of the pic at their end as well as frame rates that they are aiming at.
As you say the slower 150ish connection is considered slow in many places now-a-days but is enough for 1-1 chats (min 100kbps).
The problem is likely to be a setting on the PC end.
I would also check the Trillian site for info about adjusting the frame rate or video quality. They have an extensive FAQ database.

  • IChat and AOL/AIM Login Information

When I log into iChat it brings up the bonjour list. Then when I change the option to my email address it prompts me to log into an AOL Instant Messenger account. When I type in my Apple ID and password it says my login ID or password is incorrect. I don't have an AOL account or login so I'm not sure what I should be putting in there. I have used my iChat before with no problem. Even though it has been over a year since I've last used it, it never asked for this type of information before.

    Hi,
iChat was originally an AIM client  (Joined the AIM service)
You could use an AIM name or at that time an Apple @mac.com name.
    Later MobileMe issued @Me.com names
These stopped on the 30th June 2012.
iCloud issued @Me.com have somewhat replaces MobileMe but you have to register.
This may mean you have an iCloud issued Apple ID which you are using in iChat 5 or earlier - And it will not work.
It may be that you have set up a new password with more than 16 characters (AIM Server Limit)

  • Aol aim on the g4

I have thankfully sold my pc desktop (though a honey of a machine) for an apple g4 15inch (which is loads better). i have no complaints about this awesome machine, however, i have a complaint about a program 'written' for it.
the program is aol instant messenger. it runs fine until i use the track pad, or the scroll button on my mighty mouse. then that program crashes. ichat is stable, however doesn't have the same features. i was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and how, if you have resolved it.

I was on the same boat as all of you ex-windows guys... I started with AIM, (which AOL hasn't updated for Mac in several years), moved on to iChat (which is awesome, minus a few quibbles), and finally switched to adiumx.
Adium does exactly what I want it to, except send files. Apparently this is a bug they can't fix, but hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Other issues that I deal with (which are minor complaints compared to those I have with AIM and iChat) is Adium sometimes randomly signs me off with a GAIM error alert. Also, when hovering over buddies, to view their away messages, it tends to save old away messages, while not updating them...

  • AOL AIM and iChat

    HI,
My AIM does not work all the time.. sometimes it lets me in and most of the time it either closes the application abruptly saying that it has unexpectedly closed. After the error message, if I try to sign on again it keeps trying to sign me on until the session times out. Error message: aim could not sing me in because the session has timed out. Does anybody know why this is? Let me know if this can be fixed. Thanks!

AOL and AIM are poor applications, even more so poor for mac versus PC.
To use Instant messaging I would suggest using iChat (it is very reliable), or a program similar to AIM called "adium" found at www.adiumx.com
Why have ads on your mac with AIM? Both the other programs I suggest are ad free, look great, and work great.
A lot of people make extras for Adium as well, it is very customizable.
Good luck, try these more reliable programs.

  • Communicating through my jabber account with someone who uses AOL AIM.

Hi, I want to use my jabber account to talk to someone else who uses AOL's AIM. Let's say their screenname is person. In the add buddy menu, I type in [email protected] If I just type person, it assumes that they use my server. It then waits for authorization, though. And person never is given the ability to accept or decline, besides the fact that this isn't how it works with AIM. I'm definitely able to talk with AOL Instant Messenger, right? That's what the server to server federation is for? Thanks!

    Hi Jack,
You can actually use your own email address as the login for your AIM account. If you create the account by going to aim.com, then clicking on "Get a Username", you will see "...or use your existing address" just under the pick-a-username box.
    Hope this helps,
    Peter

  • Airport/Internet works fine - AOL/AIM/YAHOO Messenger Don't Connect

    Hi All -
I just bought the Imac with the Intel 2 Processor. Everything works fine but the chat function and AOL. I have a Motorola SBG900 wireless cable modem, and Airtport Express. I get the same problem regardless of whether I use the Airport Express. I try to log on and it looks for the connection, then times saying it can't find connection, etc. The regular internet works fine, always has. I tried reloading AOL for MAC and that didn't work.
    Any Suggestions?

    Hi Chicago67,
The Motorola you have is configurable. It will need the pors open.
    The How http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Motorola/SBG900/iChat.htm
The ports at iChat 10 are wrong (the rest are OK)
iChat 10 should read port 5678 in both and a new iChat 11 should be port 16384 to 16403 (They seem to have mistakenly added both lines into one)
From the Pics that are shown I can not tell if this device has UPnP.
IF you are doing this Port Forwarding and continue to Use DHCP the IP you point the ports to may not always be your computer if the DHCP leases get renewed.
Setting up Static routing is best if using Port Forwarding.
This means truning Off DHCP in the Motorola and chnging the seting on the Mac in System Preferences > Network > Airport > TCP/IP tab the Manually.
The info that was shown for Using DHCP is best typed in in the Manually text fields that become Active.
(The IP has to be in the range of the Modem)
Subnet mask should be the samne as it was.
The DNS servers should also be typed in.
The "router" IP is the same as it was which in fact is the Modem's IP
