AOL/ AIM webmail and Safari??

I haven't logged into the online AOL/ AIM webmail in awhile, but it has worked just fine using Safari. Today, when I tried to login, I get a window that says "you are not logged in" and click it, and it just loads and repeats. Underneath thtat window, I see a window that says "welcome to the new AIM mail" but it and the underlying web page are greyed out so I can't use it.
I have done all the latest updates from Apple, repaired permissions, run Macjantor, deleted the saved password in Safari, emptied cache, history, and cookies.....

Hello powerbook:
FWIW, I just tried AOL web mail and logged in fine (www.aol.com).
One thing you have not tried is to trash the preference files. Do a "find" on "plist." Then trash anything that has Safari or AOL in the www.apple.xxxxx.plist (xxxxx is the area you will look at).
Restart and try it again.

  • AOL Webmail and Safari on 10.4.2 crashes on delete mail

When I access my AOL account through www.aol.com, and then read mail, Safari crashes when I try to delete mail.
This happens when I select items by putting a checkbox in them, and then pressing the delete key. Then Safari quits, asks me if I want to send it to support, which I do, and then I have to restart safari and AOL. It does not seem to happen if I open each one individually, and it doesn't happen the first time I go in, it's usually on the second batch of "deletes."
This began happening after the last update to my mac. It does not happen on AOL using other computers. A friend told me it doesn't happen to her on Netscape, only on Safari. I did the update to my system on 1/15.

    Deleting AOL Mail, crashes Safari/Consolidated
It seems the most recent Safari, and or 10.4.4, update has created this problem.
Apple & AOL are both aware of this, but, as far as I know, no correction has been implemented.
Here are some of the work arounds, that I have been able to discern from the various posts regarding this issue.
If I have missed anything, please correct, and or add.
    Use the FIREFOX BROWSER.
    Use your AOL Mail program.
Use this utility AOL SERVICES UTILITY, to set up Apple Mail, to access AOL Mail.
Access the AOL Mail thru Classic AOL Webmail.
And here are links, to the various threads, discussing this issue.

  • Error message sending attachments using Comcast webmail and Safari

I'm using a G3 iMac, with 640MB memory (sorry, can't find the RAM free space), everything is working fine except that just last week, I all of a sudden cannot send attachements through my "comcast message center" webmail using Safari. I spent hours with Comcast, going through different procedures, with no good result. They are convinced it's an "apple problem" but of course I think it's them.
I consistently get an error message "appending message failed" . . . but it's odd because for awhile last week I could not receive or send ANY e-mails (with the same error message), attachments or not, and now it seems I can only send OR receive e-mails with NO attachments. And then this morning, I was able to send several attachments before it went back to the error message again (and I spent another two hours on the phone with Comcast). I opened an account with Mail and (using my Comcast address in a POP account) was able to send all the attachments I could not send through Comcast Message Center.
Hope I gave enough information. Please let me know if you think this is an "Apple problem"
    iMac - G3   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I just tried to upload a PDF attachment using Comcast's webmail and was successful. I'd say it's a problem on their end since it's saying "appending message failed." Obviously, they are either not receiving all of the file, or the server just kicks back some message.
I'd say use Mail.app for your webmail if at all possible as it's easier to use and faster to access!

  • Internet and Safari and AIM mail

    Aloha~
I tried to open my aim email this morning, and got a screen telling me that the compatibility for aim with a mac os x was safari 2.0. I am running 1.3.2, and cannot figure out how to get 2.0. (All I can find is 2.0.1, and my OS, 10.3.9, can't support that one.) I would appreciate any help, I can't figure out why I could access my email YESTERDAY with no problem, and now I cannot.
    Thank you,
    Noreen

    Noreen,
If you would like, you can bypass Safari and check your AIM mail with Mail.
After opening Mial, go to Preferences, and click Accounts. At the bottom left of the page click + to add a new account.
The settings for Aim are: Account Type: IMAP; Account Description, Full Name and Email Address are what you what. And then Continue.
Incoming Mail Server: IMAP.Aim.com; your user name and then Password.
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.aim.com. Check Use Authentication. User Name: your username and Password. Hit continue and that should be it.
I use this for 3 AOL accounts and an Aim account.
I had the same trouble with my TiBook when I first bought it. It was running Tiger and I had to reinstall for it to stop giving me problems with Safari, Firefox and Aol/Aim mail. Never did figure out why, because I was running Safari 2.0 at the time.

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 5, I can no longer browse for attachments in AOL Webmail, and every time I open Firefox, it asks me if Mozilla can make changes to my hard drive. I've gone back to Internet Explorer.

I upgraded to the latest version of Mozilla Firefox and ever since then, every time I open Firefox it asks me if I want to allow Mozilla to make changes to my hard drive. I have to answer "Yes" or else it won't open Firefox. Then when I open my AOL Webmail and try to browse for an attachment, it freezes up the browser window and I have to open the Task Manager to close Firefox. I have now gone back to Internet Explorer which does not have either one of these problems.

Maybe just corrupted Disk Utility preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DiskUtility.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.DiskUtility.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac then try creating a .dmg file.

  • Webmail in Safari don't work after updating to iOS6.

Webmail in Safari don't work after updating to iOS6.  Logging on to office webmail account are redirected.  Webmail works with Google Chrome, but it doesn't sove the issue with Safari.  Any suggestions on how to configure Safari?

    Try this
I was having this problem, seem to happen when waking computer, once finally connected network works great.
You need to edit your network preferences to order the network selection list.  Goto this support page  Using network locations (Mac OS X v10.6 and later) and edit your selection list.
I also created a "HOME" location and deleted all networks except wifi.  Put MB to sleep woke and safari worked great.  Still I re-ordered the networks under Automatic putting wifi at top, sequence is from top down.  Don't forget to click Apply.  Have fun

  • Viewing mac's webmail in safari - scroll bar issues

i've noticed that the apple site and .mac have had a makeover in the last few days.
    it's a nice upgrade, but i'm having problems viewing my .mac webmail with safari;
i have webmail set up with 3 panes; left hs are folders, top is messages and bottom is preview. however now the scrollbars do not allow me to scroll to the end of the message preview. instead, when the scroll bar is at the bottom of the window i have only scrolled through part of the message!
does anyone know if this is a mail or safari issue, and how to fix it - it's very annoying!
(i would use the mail app but i'm behind a firewall and can't configure it, so i have to use safari and webmail)

This forum is for discussing issues related to the Mail & Address Book applications included with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). If you’re not talking about Mac OS X’s Mail, but .Mac mail on the web instead, the right forum for such questions would be .Mac Email On The Web.

  • 10.5.3 - Mail and Safari dead

After installing 10.5.3 today I can't run Mail and Safari.
Mail icon in Dock jump once and that's all, Safari shows a message:
"Safari cannot open a browser window and may be missing important recources. Try installing Safari again." And now the horror just begins...
I tried to repaire permissions - didn't help
I tried to create another user account - nothing
I installed COMBO update - nothing
I tried to install Safari again - this one is the best: "You cannot install Safari on this volume. This update requires Mac OS X 10.5.2 or newer." !!!!!!!
Give me my e-mails back!!! HELP.

If you tried all this an nothing worked i would back up my stuff quik as "¤#% and erase and instal.
    Regarding your emails:
If you have IMAP you will still be able to acsess them by your webmail
" E-mail clients using IMAP generally leave messages on the server until the user explicitly deletes them"
    If you have POP3
"Although most clients have an option to leave mail on server, e-mail clients using POP3 generally connect, retrieve all messages, store them on the user's PC as new messages, delete them from the server, and then disconnect."
This is just an idea, and it migth not work, but you should give it a try:
Try safe-boot and see if its the same problem opening mail, if you manage to open it in safe boot you should be able to back up you emails from there.
    Safe-boot:
Hold down the <Shift> during startup until you see the login window with red text saying "Safe boot"
I migth be wrong, but i think there is another way to back up your mails from some system folder-not sure what one tho, someone else here or apple support can prbly awnser that
    Good luck

  • Connecting to company "webmail" with Safari

I am having trouble connecting to my company "webmail" using Safari... With old iPhone 3G it worked fine. But now with the new iPhone 4 it will not connect. I am even using the same link I was using previously, and have tried to type it in new. I get the warning screen "Cannot Veify Server Identity" and you click either "cancel" "details" or "continue".... Well I click the continue, Safari breifly says it is "loading" and then it drops out completely.... ANY IDEAS???? or suggestions???

Wasn't using webmail but an ordering log on for my company website and it wouldn't open the page with the saved passwords one day even though it had been working fir 2 months +
I switched off the password save as you guys suggested and now it opens but will only let we type 1 character per visit to log on field so have to type 1 move away come back type another.
What's the point of having a password save facility if it stops you getting into the sites you're using. Come on apple you've got to fix this quick.
This is really the only issue I've had with iPhone 4

  • Can't see or open attachments when checking webmail thru Safari on iPhone 4s.

Just got my iPhone and love it already - got a lot to learn though. Thought I'd try to check my ISP webmail using Safari and it worked great except for the messages that indicated an attachment or a link did not have an active link and no where to open the attachments.  I have not yet tried to a link or an attachment to anyone..any tricks or tips anyone?  Is there a setting I'm missing?

Absolutely, but can't immediately find how to contact them and their website only gives FAQs and Troubleshooting Guides that don't include this problem.  Just hoping that a fellow iPhone user has a solution.

  • Accessing outlook webmail in Safari

Hello I am trying to access my company webmail from safari browser https://owa.daisygroupplc.com/ but this will not open in Safari.
works fine on IE and Firefox, Nightmare I cant use my new iPad!!!!
    Can anyone help here?

You won't find relief via Safari, not yet anyway.
Yahoo's mail feature - full version - works well in Firefox. For $20/yr. you also get larger mailboxes, no ads, and other features - Yahoo calls it .
Yahoo has said it expects to make its most recent version of Mail Safari compatible in 2007.

  • Paypal and Safari

Paypal cannot confirm my email when opening an account because Safari will not there let confirmation email email thru. Therefore I can not open an account with Paypal. I can not be the only one having this problem. Please help

...they tried to send to my mac. address that I could not pick up on Mail or Safari Mail. Said I needed to contact Safari inorder for them to take down the firwall so that their email could come thu.
I think there was some misunderstanding in that communication somewhere, or they're just plain wrong. Safari isn't a company (they probably meant "contact Apple") and the Safari program has no control over whether or not you get your email.
If your .Mac email address is involved, it's certainly possible that the .Mac service is blocking the email, although I wouldn't think .Mac would block all PayPal email. Apple (who owns the .Mac email service) does block some suspected spam from coming in. Since PayPal is a known, valid service, though, it's hard to imagine they would block all PayPal email.
Another strong possibility is that the PayPal confirmation email is in your spam filter. If you use Mail, check the "Junk" folder. (You can search the Junk folder by clicking on it and then typing "paypal" in the search box at the top right.) If you check your .Mac email on the web, the place to look is similar, in the Junk folder that is inside the folder called "Mail Folders." (I don't use .Mac webmail very often, so I'm not sure if it will look the same for you. You may want to ask about this on the .Mac forums - see below - if you can't figure this out.)
If you still can't find the PayPal confirmation email, you might want to first search for this issue in the .Mac Email On The Web forum (if you use .Mac webmail using Safari) or .Mac Email On The Your Desktop (if you access your .Mac email using Mail or another email program). Search those forums for "PayPal" and see if others have had this problem and perhaps found a solution.
If you don't find anything, try posting in one of those forums with your question. We're happy to help as much as we can in this forum. But the people expert in .Mac will be more likely to help you if it's a problem with your .Mac email not getting through to you.
If you do not have a .Mac email account (i.e. an email address called [email protected]) then the .Mac forums aren't the place to look. Instead, the issue is with either your ISP or with your email program (Mail or otherwise). Let us know if that's the situation, and we'll try to help you sort out where to look to solve this problem.

  • I cannot log into messages with my aol/aim account

    Hi,
When I try to log into messages with my aol/aim account, it keeps on saying that the username and/or password is incorrect. Neither are incorrect as I can log into the account on the aim web settings page and on the aol page.
    Any help?
    Thanks

If you change your passord on AOL, for security they block your new password on your iPad but not on your PC. I downloaded the AOL application on my iPad and then used that to change my password on AOL and then my Mail on my iPad fully works. I then used my AOL new password on my PC and now everything works.

  • AOL AIM Problem

Hi Guys just attached a Creative Live effects webcam no problems The problem arises when I use my AOL video message I can see & hear my friends but they can only hear me. They can't see me this has happened to my friends using a Mac & Desktop. Any help much appreciated. Regards,Steve

Have you tried creating a second AIM account? and see if it also comes up the same way when chatting with friends?
It's possible that when you were using AIM on another system and customized your profile or display name, it may of appeared in another way.
I don't use AIM Software at home I use
    Pidgin
    Digsby
    Trillian
    Adium
All these are all in 1 chat programs, Mainly for PC and other for Mac. But I do chat people from my iPhone using AIM or SMS responses. They never see the DIV at all.
Make a test account and see if it still happens. Make sure to check for App updates for iPhone and update your AOL AIM App if there is an update.

  • Want to redirect my e-mail from aol to mail in safari.

Hi everyone! please can anyone help me, I want to redirect my e-mail from aol to mail in safari. How do I do it please? I don't have broadband yet, I'm looking into that with aol, they say in their info we cant have it for OSX but I know some of you have it and it's fine.

I can't get onto aol using safari, is this
because im on dial up only?
No, it is because AOL is in transition to a free service & the web mail portal (the web page that directs you to the sign-in screen) is currently poorly configured. Try instead going to https://my.screenname.aol.com/ & entering your AOL screen name & password there. Once that is accepted, you will be able to get to your web mail by clicking on the "Mail" text at the top of the welcome page.
Or, as others suggest, you can use Apple's Mail application to avoid all this.
