AOL Email Sync issues

My AOL email is not properly syncing. For example, if I delete an email on my Galaxy S III, it does NOT delete reflect as deleted when I check my AOL account on another device and vice versa. Samsung support was worthless and I'm hoping someone has a recommendation here. Thanks!

I have added the AOL account two ways. First using the choice of selecting AOL setup and following the steps--which skip certain steps that are available when setting up manually. That didn't work. Then I followed the troubleshooting advice given in FAQs and deleted my AOL account and proceeded to setup the account manually with both the required IMAP and POP3 settings. This also didn't work. So I have given up and am instead checking my AOL email via the internet on my phone instead. This is giving me real-time updates that affect my account and can be seen via all devices. Since I followed both versions of directions and am pretty darned savvy with technology--I would GUESS that AOL is what's broken. But that I cannot control. I also searched through the options I had on the AOL side to manually modify my settings to ensure proper syncing and there is not a lot that can be influenced by the standard user. If you have additional ideas, I'm open--otherwise I will settle for monitor via internet instead. Thanks!

  • Email sync issues

I'm having email sync issues & can't find a solution that fixes my problem.  Tried everything I've been able to find, including ensuring Sync function is enabled in multiple locations, disabling then reenabling sync features, powering my phone off/on, even resetting the battery. Received the NK1 update on 11 Dec. Not sure if that's when the problems started or not, as I've been busy, but that's seems about the time things stopped sync'ing properly. Am using the email app that comes with the phone (an S4 mini), and have 3 email accounts, cox.net, and 2 aol accts.  The cox & 1 of the aol accts won't sync, but the other aol acct does sync.  The one that is working I have set to not auto sync, & the manual sync works. Not so on the other two ... the sync app says they are sync'd, but the email app says they haven't been sync'd in like 2-3 days, even tho I've sync'd them multiple times today. Get a continually circling busy / working symbol.  Get new email on desktop computer without issues. After a few days, the other two accts will sync up.

    CSForest,
From time-to-time I have had this issue with the default email app.  Have you checked to see that the app is synched?  When it happens with my S4, there is a message at the bottom of the screen saying the app isn't synched.  Try this: pull down the status bar and click on the icon at the far right.  This will open all the functions available on the status bar.  Make sure 'Synch' is on.  For some reason, this function on my phone gets turned off without me doing it.  KarenC suggested using another email app.  As a backup, I use K-9 Mail.  I really like this app.
    I hope this helps.

  • Easy steps to troubleshoot the Outlook Email sync issue

One question about Outlook that has been asked the most is, why some emails don’t sync in Outlook? Or there should be an email received but why I can’t see it in Outlook?
On this topic, we’ve seen a lot of articles on Microsoft and some other 3rd-party web sites, usually the explanation and the troubleshooting steps are so long that we don’t know where to start. I’m writing this article to make something easier. Not an encyclopaedia
about Outlook sync issues, just a few things we can take a look at before something really “difficult”.
For Exchange Accounts to troubleshoot, of course, this Microsoft Knowledge Base is helpful:
How to troubleshoot synchronization problems when you synchronize your Exchange Server mailbox with your .ost file in Outlook
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842284/en-us
Here below I will introduce some common causes of the Emails not sync issues in Outlook, steps are based on Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, which are widely used nowadays.
    View
Here comes a user, who says “why don’t some emails appear in my Outlook?” Generally we think it may be caused since the sync process is not complete, but consider this scenario: The “missing” email has been received but the user just can’t see it, is
this possible? Yes, this is possibly caused by the custom view.
First please logon the webmail, or OWA for Exchange Accounts, to see whether the “missing” emails exist there, if yes, then let’s do the following:
Go to the folder where the emails should be displayed, switch to VIEW tab ->
Current View Group -> Click Reset View button. When it prompts to confirm, click
    Yes.
The emails magically appear! Why? That’s because you have set a custom view in this folder, such as a Filter in View Settings to let Outlook only show these emails that meet the criteria you have set. Once you click
Reset View, the View will reset and the Filter is wiped out. The emails can be displayed again.
One common symptom of this cause, is that you see a number beside the folder which indicates you have something unread, while you can’t find the unread items. Probably you have a custom view in Outlook that only allows the read items to show.
Another way to reset the View is to run Outlook with the command switch “/cleanviews”, which will restore default view and all custom views you created will be lost:
Press Win key + R, in the Run box, type “outlook.exe /cleanviews”, click
    OK or press Enter.
    Sync Filter
“Well, I can see the recent emails of the account in Outlook, but emails older than 3 months don’t show in Outlook, I can see these emails on Web, why?” It’s time to consider the Sync Filter.
Outlook has a feature that allows you to limit the amount of data that is synchronized locally to your .OST. The purpose of this feature is to make Outlook usable on devices that have limited or small amounts of local storage. This feature is called Sync
Filter. You can access the sync filter within your E-mail Server Settings under Account Settings.
We can choose the periods of emails we want to keep offline. Switch to
All to keep all emails to local so that they are not “missing”.
(Not all kinds of accounts can use this feature in all versions of Outlook, such as Exchanges Accounts don’t have Sync Filter in Outlook 2010)
    Send/Receive Groups
I can sync all folders but emails in one folder don’t sync properly, how does this happen? Please check the Send/Receive Settings.
Go to SEND / RECEIVE tab -> Send & Receive Group ->
Define Send/Receive Groups. We can configure the setting for send/receive here:
Highlight All Accounts, click Edit button, in the new dialog window, check if you have select the correct folder options as you need, you may have not selected the folder which emails are not received. Check the box and
click OK to save, it should be working fine then.
    Summary
When we talk about “sync”, we are talking about account types like Exchange, IMAP and Exchange ActiveSync. POP accounts don’t sync, they do a “download” instead, so it’s not talked about (However, some steps are applicable, like
    VIEW).
As mentioned above, this article just discusses the easy things we should look at before the deeper analysis, if you have tried all these suggestions but still have the sync problem, feel free to post the question in our forum:

Is there a work around way??????????
Not really. BIS service is not designed to reconcile to the Outlook on your PC as your former BES service did, or there would be no reason for BES, right?
The (dirty) workaround is to created rules in your Outlook and filters on your BIS account login whereby you BCC yourself all the sent-from-handheld mail which arrives in Outlook and by rule is moved to your sent folder.
Then, on the BIS account login site, you create a filter to not foward any message to your device which are addressed as beig from your own email address.
Likewise, any email sent from Outlook must be copied to yourself to receive on the BlackBerry device, however it won't end up in your sent items.

  • AOL email connectivity issue - Sends but does not receive

I have 2 AOL email accounts on my Droid X.  Up until Thursday, I had no issue receiving emails to both addresses.  Suddenly on the Thursday my default account kept indicating connectivity issues with the account.  The other AOL account worked perfectly.
I can still send from default AOL account and they are received, but I am not able to receive any email into this account.  I tried to forwarding these email addresses to my gmail account.  But gmail is not receiving emails from either account.
    Any suggestions?

i didn't know people still used AOL mail LOL
Time Warner took over AOL and allowed customers to retain their AOL accounts to minimie the headache of converting everyone...
Now to the ones having issues, have you tried contacting AOL and make sure they are not transferring or updating a server, because usually when they do this it can effect some accounts but not other just as you have discribed. They may require a new port entered or even pop, imap or smtp access information.  Drop them a call and verify incoming and outgoing addresses.

  • AOL email sync not working

This one is brutal. I live in NJ and work in NYC. I am able to get AOL emails on my Pre all day and night when I am in NJ. However, when I come into Manhattan I stop receiving emails practically from the moment I step out of Penn Station until about 5pm.
It sounds strange but on any given day I will have emails waiting in my inbox in the morning, then when I get into the city they stop coming. The phone will attempt to update the inbox and it will state the last time it actually DID update (which is usually around the time I get into the city). I will get AOL emails on my iPhone and laptop all day, but not the Pre; that is until about 5-5:30, at that point I get all the emails I missed and they come as read.
I tried replacing the phone, no go, by the way they have exchanged the phone for me twice already so this is my 3rd Pre and they all do the SAME Thing. I have had Sprint and Palm upgrade this to Level II tech support, they are dumbfounded. AOL won't even talk with me and they insist that I speak to the hardware manufacturer. I have tried every type of possible settings options with both Palm and Sprint to no avail. Now I am passed the 30 day refund policy so I am stuck with this phone. I thought maybe it's an SSL issue and I noticed that my certificate manager was empty, Palm said that it had nothing to do with this issue, but then again they don't have a solution for me yet!
It's a joke. Has anyone seen this issue??? Can anyone help me here??? I really like the phone but with this issue it will never be an iPhone killer for me. And I would hate to think that I am the only one with this issue.
    Any advise?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

From what I am gathering it is an AOL issue not Palm. I have been in touch with AOL tech support (the biggest joke) and they have been unable to help. The issue needs to be resolved thru AOL server support. The only issue is that WE cannot reach out to them, only AOL support can write up a ticket and send it to them. Here is the rub; you never get to know if they can or cannot repair the issue because they never contact the end user. So For the past 4 weeks I have been calling tech support and having them create a follow up report on the issue. It's a waste of time from what I am seeing but I have no choice.
I have since notified all of my friends and family that I now have a Gmail account, I have my AOL forwarded to the gmail account and set up my gmail account on the Pre. The only issue with that is for some of the people that send email to you it may be confusing because while you get the AOL emails it sent to your gmail account (meaning people are emailing you to AOL.com) you can only reply with Gmail, so some of the less tech savvy people may get confused. I was fortunate to get the same user name for both accounts; drvsafe; so that is at least one less thing for people to think about. but it is a bit disapointing that this issue couldnt be resolved. Keep me in the loop if you manage to get a better result or are able to resolve it and I will dothe same.

    Yes, it's a missing feature.

This is a bug in Outlook. The workaround is to right click on the Inbox and "Mark all as read"

  • Aol email sync

I have had phone over a week now and can not get my aol email account to sync with lap top.  How do I get both places to show the same unread emails and folders?

Congratulations on the purchase of your new phone. It will take some getting used to, but I'm sure you will love it.
AOL is not able to sync with Android. Androids are natively Google devices therefore Google will sync when you delete from the phone/computer.

  • 1.1.1 update fixes Exchange email sync issue

Before the update, when I deleted an email on Exchange on my PC and then hit the wireless/update button on the iPhone, the message would be deleted on the phone. But when I deleted an email on the device, it would never get deleted on the Exchange server. This was a huge pain and has been documented, and I (and I'm sure others) reported the issue to Apple.
After update 1.1.1, everything works fine.

Thats because during the update it cleaned out your system and then when you sync'd with iTunes...it reset your outlook. With an IMAP setup, its designed to do that but only when you allow itunes to sync the account to your phone.
If you hand built your account into the iphone and then with the sync you established a conflict and that is why your IMAPing didnt work right.
Glad its working as designed now.

  • Email sync issues between Mail & iPhone 5s

Hi guys, hopefully you can shed some light on the current situation I've got.
I used to have an iPhone 4s, and when I received an email on my iMac or iPhone, if it was deleted from one device, the change was synced between both devices so that it was also deleted on the other.
Here's a small diagram to show what I mean:
RECEIVE EMAIL ON IPHONE > DELETE ON IPHONE > EMAIL ALSO DELETED ON IMAC
RECEIVE EMAIL ON IMAC > DELETE ON IMAC > EMAIL ALSO DELETED ON IPHONE
You probably grasped that without the need of that pointless diagram, but it's there anyway in case you need it. Now, I recently upgraded to the iPhone 5s, set it up with the same apple id and copied over a backup from the previous phone. HOWEVER, now my emails don't sync between both devices and I can't figure out why? It now means I get emails through no problem on both the iMac and iPhone, but have to then delete both instances of the mail on both devices in order to de-clutter my inbox. Which is extremely annoying as sometimes I may not view emails on the mac so I end up having 100 emails that I already have read or deleted and need to delete them a second time.
Can anyone help with this predicament as I can't seem to get the issue solved!?
For extra information, I'm using both a Hotmail account and a GoDaddy email account and the problem is happening on both inboxes. Thank you!!!

Right, I've just had a mess around with the settings and have deleted the original mailbox from my account. Then I followed the steps on this blog - http://www.illusion-interactive.com/content/how-sync-hotmail-ios7-using-imap (which I didn't need to go quite as far as it seemed to do all the advanced settings input automatically).
After a quick test I can confirm it now works! For some reason my Hotmail account set up on the iPhone was set to POP3 rather than IMAP.
Thanks to your heads up though I managed to get it sorted. Cheers!

  • Exchange Email sync issues

I have my Microsoft Exchange email account setup on my IPhone 4S(5.1.1). My email account has several folders and rules to sort emails into those folders. Even though I have selected those folders in the "Folders to Push" setting, they don't show up in my normal mail app. I don't get an alert (by showing the number of email in that folder) either. If I browse those folders in the account on phone, the emails are there, so I can that the sync is working.
Is anyone else facing this issue?

I usually keep them at 1 week, but I had been working with the default of 3 days after setting up the accounts so many times.
Update: We tried setting up a different exchange account from our server onto my iPhone, and it worked.  I am convinced that it is an issue with my account, however that still doesn't solve my problem.  I would delete this thread since I no longer believe that I need apple support, but I can't figure out how!

  • Email Sync Issues - No Delete From Server Option

In setting up a POP3 account - using Comcast email,  the email account does get created and you can send and receive email.  The issues is when deleting, it will not delete from the server.  In the options it has delete 1 week and older but no option to delete from the server.  So there is no real sync here.     Anyone seeing the same issue, any apps to fix?

Lots of people use K-9 in place of the stock email app.
I don't use K-9 because I have separate folders and K-9 doesn't allow me to move emails between folders using pop3.
If you don't have any extra folders or need to move emails around, K-9 might be for you.
It will delete emails from the server.
You could also look into maildroid. I don't use it because it doesn't sort the emails.

  • BB Tour Email sync issue

(I posted this in another, more general, forum a while ago but never got a response. I'm trying again...)
My Tour repeatedly downloads the same email messages over and over. Same message but diferent time stamp so it appears to be new. Even after I've deleted them on the BB, and even after I've read (but not necessarily deleted) them on my laptop with Outlook. As I'm writing this, my BB is vibrating pretty much non-stop. Gets worse when I'm connected to the Outlook Exchange Server. Every time I click on a message it sends it to my phone again. When I go to my phone, I have to spend inordinate amounts of time opening every one (in case it's new) then deleting them.
Is there an option that I have set wrong? I don't want to shut off the 'push' feature, but I'm exasperated, plus the vibrator is eating my battery time.
    Thanx,
    JHJin AZ

It's an ongoing issue - you can do a search on this board and there a bunch of posts - there's a new 5.0 release on the horizon that is supposed to fix this issue.
Hang in there - good luck!

  • Email sync issue with Gmail

I have my gmail account set up on my blackberry and it seems to sync fine when I go from my curve to the gmail account. In other words, id I delete a message on my BB, it is removed from Gmail also. However, it I delete the message in reverse, from gmail, my BB does not seem to sync with that change. The message remains on the BB. I did have to put an email filter on for Gmail because I was getting duplicates of every email I sent. Dont know if this might be preventing it from syncing?

That is the way all integrated accounts work - only one-way, from the BlackBerry to the email account. So you device is working as expected.

  • Email syncing issues with outlook/entourage/iphone

I am having problems syncing my gmail when using Entourage 2008 on MacBook Pro, Outlook 2010 on Toshiba, and my iphone 3. If I read a message for the first time on my iphone it will not download to outlook. If I read a message for the first time in outlook it will not download to entourage. All messages seem to download to my iphone. I have everything set up to leave messages on server. I tried setting up all accounts as POP vs IMAP but that doesn't seem to help either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. To accomplish what you want along with having access to all server stored mailboxes and all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account, you need to access the account as an IMAP account with each email client.

  • IPad weird email syncing issue

    Hi guys,
On my iPad, my email shows up for a few seconds and in the upper corner you can see it connecting to the server. After it is done connecting, all the emails are removed from the screen.
This is an Exchange mail account and it's working fine in my iPhone 3GS.
    Any clues?
    Thanx in advance

One more thing, when the sync first failed, I got a message saying there wasn't enough memory by 4.8 GB, even though there should have been over 32 GB of free space. The same message appeard during this afternoon's sync failure as well.
