AOL HAS GRABBED FIREFOX, HOW DO i GET RID OF IT?

I down loaded a PDF reader which turned out to be from AOL and AOL grabbed Firefox. I am left with the AOL search engine and Firefox is minimized in the top left hand corner of the screen. I have tried deleting Firefox and reloading. But the same thing occurs. I use AVG maintenance to take care of my PC but this doesn't get rid of AOL. Can you help?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

Do a Google search "remove bearshare" (including quotation marks).
-This is a real mess and involves editing the registry.
-If you do not know what you are doing, DO NOT DO IT!
-Get help from someone who is familiar with registry editing.
-And backup all registry keys before deleting them.
-You can completely disable your system if you do something wrong in the registry.

  • My laptop has a virus, how can i get rid of it?

My laptop has a virus on it and its called AntiVirus 360. I looked up on google what it is and its a virus that disguises itself as a program to help detect viruses when itself is the virus. I've tried many different programs to try and delete it off my computer but nothing seems to work. I also read that sometimes this virus can appear to have been deleted but then when you reboot the computer it re-installs itself. How can I get rid of it completely and permenantly? I have a friend that works at Best Buy and he said you guys could repair it but it costs about $200. I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that you know of. Please help because it keeps messing with my internet pages and is making my computer slower than it should be.
    Thank you for your time!

Stuff like that is better known as "spyware/malware" - There are categories of malware not consider viruses (although often they are installed by a virus as a larger payload).
I would suggest trying Malwarebytes.  If Malwarebytes can't fix it, your best bet is probably to nuke and repave.  (i.e. backup your data files and then reinstall Windows and all applications from scratch.)

  • A square with numbers stay on screen and in a document using Firefox, how do I get rid of those? THANKS

"A fresh ramp up on your bottom line is establishing an online business from home11, easy to start,..."
Have a look on the second line ''"business from ''home11''
This is actually a link to a website and an extract form an article I wrote. No matter what I do can I get rid of that ....11 after home. On my website http://www.WomensOnlineBusiness.com/five-fundamental-steps.html on the left sidebar buttons I have the same problem and a lot of other places. Weirdly enough not on the home page, but on all the other pages where I have the sidebuttons.
I have not been able to figure out how to get rid of these numbers - think-just guessing- it has something to do with the add-ons but in that case don't know which one.
If anybody can help me out here that would be great, as I like Firefox a lot and would hate to leave it.
    Hoping for the best
    PIA

I can't make out from your low-res screenshot what those gray images in the menu at the left are, but I do not see them and there is nothing int the page source that accounts for them.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Something called Babylon has attached to firefox - how do I get rid of it?

It's called Babylon search but I'd rather use google - I hope it's not a virus.

10/28/11 - I just fixed this problem and found the solution in one of the other replies.<br />
Here is the sequence for FF 7.1 (W7-HP) :<br />
Note: You should, first, Uninstall the Babylon program with Control Panel or, I think, it will just re-infect FF.<br />
    1) Show the FF Toolbar (I hide mine) and select 'Tool"<br />
    2) Select 'Add-ons'<br />
    3) Select 'Extensions'<br />
    4) A list of extensions will appear;<br />
(On mine, Babylon was right at the top)<br />
Look for Babylon Toolbar; at the right will be two options:<br />
    Disable Remove<br />
    5) Click on 'Remove'; close the tabs and exit FF (restart FF).<br />
    6) The Babylon stuff should be gone.<br />
Good luck, this was a real PITA.

My iPhone 4S has been stolen couple days ago how do I delete personal stuff without erasing the whole thing invasion recover my phone? BTW I have a pass code on it and it doesn't show it's been open, I'm still tracking it on find my iPhone but having trouble getting an exact location and has been offline for little more than 24 hrs.... What should I do?

You cannot. Wiping is an all-or-nothing deal. I would not be concerned since you have a passcode.

  • Malawarebytes flags hkcu\software\conduit\ff which appears only after I have started Firefox; how do I get rid of?

Malawarebytes detects and flags the above and says it successfully removes. This appears to be true if I rerun a scan. However it continued to appear in later sessions. I finally think that I have tracked it down to firing up firefox. If I turn on my desktop and just run a scan, all is clean. I load firefox and run a scan and the pup is detected. I did in the past pick up the search facility Conduit but thought I had got rid; there is no outward sign other than the HKCU, and that was months ago.

Hi ibru, if you still have a Conduit-created "Community Toolbar" extension, those preferences will keep coming back. Make sure you've removed the extension.

  • I have a big problem: how do I get rid of a persistent keylogger?

I did a reinstall of OS Snow Leopard and that totally solved my keylogger problem:
    1. My computer was no longer slow, it didn't keep making constant noises as if there was a process in the background when I wasn't using my computer
    2. All websites loaded super quickly and there wasn't this horrible 5 second lag when I typed something or a skip in videos when I watched something...
    but then,,,,,2 days later....
as I was in gmail, MY SCREEN WENT TOTALLY WHITE
and I had to restart my computer...and now THIS ANNOYING KEYLOGGER problem has returned.
How do I get rid of the a*hole who is targeting my computer? I don't have time to reinstall Snow Leopard again and again. How can I get rid of this annoying keylogger that is making my computer SUPER SLOW?

I have to note here that when I launch Activity Monitor- for some reason this computer has loads of inactive processes running ALL THE TIME, when my other computers do not have this problem.
