AOL is delivering subverted Firefox 4 upgrades through their mail service.
I've been trying to completely wean my friend off of the bloatware disguised as AOL for years, and all of a sudden this happens: http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/4936/wutd.png
When he logs into his AOL mail in Firefox 3.6 it delivers the 'helpful' suggestion that he upgrade to the shiny special AOL Edition of Firefox, which is basically normal Firefox but with a useless toolbar, a useless default search provider, and a useless awesome bar search provider. So then I had to fix all of that while having to explain to my friend why it's for the best.
Does Mozilla know about this? Is this a thing AOL gets to do? Can we at least not package this stuff into the upgrade installer, so people who don't know better have to actually exert effort if they want to keep using holdovers from terrible outdated software?
AOL's explanation per the link provided covers your options.
* You contacted your ISP which indicated there is nothing they can do or there is nothing they are willing to do in your behalf.
* You are not sending high volumes of mail to AOL.
* You can scan your Mac for viruses and malware which can't hurt but will be a waste of time in this situation.
This leaves contacting AOL. Other than that, wait until the 24 hour block period has expired.

I have read in multiple places on the forum that muse forms are now supported on third party platforms. however I am having a very difficult time getting mine to work on Godaddy. They seem to no longer have the "form mailer" option and told me to look at this PHP: mail - Manual to make the forms work. Thanks for getting back to me. So, I tried changing the address as Sanjit suggested, and yes an error message came up. But then I tested Brad's theory and looks like the form works with another email address other than that of the actual website email:( So I guess based on Brad's link I should reroute the form to the other (non-godaddy) email...or contact go-daddy to see if they can correct this? Would that be the final answer?

communicate through windows fire wall.the onlt thing that changea is home icon shifted to upper rigt hand corner.i have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling firedfox upfgade no luckYou have Firefox 4.0.1 which is the latest release version. Which version are you trying to upgrade to? Unless you are on the beta channel, that is as far as Firefox will upgrade. To "upgrade" to Beta, Aurora, or Nightly, you have to do it manually via a download and installation.

I use Firefox and access my AOL from there. When I get to the AOL homepage, before logging in to email, as of yesterday there was a banner across the top with the Firefox Logo saying to click here to download the new AOL/Firefox upgrade.
When I clicked, it went to "exe.aol/toolbar" and supposedly an AOL webpage to download their toolbar.
Sounds like AOL is fraudulently using Firefox's name in order to get people to download an AOL toolbar.hello kincaidjesse, please report that at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/ so mozilla can investigate that and take further actions if necessary. thank you!

Can't receive my AOL emails through mac mail 5.1
I just upgraded to Lion and now I can't receive my AOL emails through mac mail 5.1. I can send email fine though the AOL account and all my other email accounts are fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Not unusual but when I go to the update site it searches for a minute and then tells me that I have the current version of the software.If you use the www.google.com/firefox site as home page that previous Firefox 3 versions use as the home page then you can ignore the message about not using the latest Firefox version on that page.<br />

Current Firefox 4+ versions no longer use that Google website as the home page, but use the build-in about:home page as the home page.<br />
Google assumes that you use an older Firefox version if you still visit that site and warns you that you use an older Firefox version and suggests to update.<br />

I downloaded Firefox Setup 8.0.1.exe from the website to my desktop and opened it as an administrator. The available choice (once opened) was to upgrade. When the process was complete my version of Firefox was identified as 8.0.1 but the main screen still said - "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!"
This - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Firefox Start Page used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, I don't think it is being maintained.
Starting with the Firefox 4 version, Firefox is using a "local" Start Page with the address of '''about:home'''. It looks similar to the old Start Page, but it isn't exactly the same. -
Firefox automatically upgrades me to 3.6 but form some reason the next time I start up it reverts to 3.5. Consequently, it takes forever to load each time and it is getting very irritating. Don't make me go back to IE!

Just to be clear, the browser you were using when you posted that was 3.6.6.
This "automatic downgrade" may happen if your computer is set to restore your Program Files folders to their previous stat when you reboot your computer. Swipe no longer works in Firefox since upgrading to Lion.
I can no longer use the swipe gesture to move between pages on Firefox since upgrading to Lion. I have tried it on both the Magic trackpad and the magic mouse. Anyone else haviong this issue?
I, too, have that issue. I've seen posts by folks who have changed the swipe gesture in system preferences. But I can't get that to work. I like the swipe gesture so much that I am using Safari for now. Maybe a solution will be found in the future. I hope so as I really prefer FF.

One of my apps is called Shelf Wallpaper and in these wallpapers there are Icon wallpapers and it says VIP Only on them so when i press save on a wallpaper i like in this section it says: Please upgrade through in app purchase to view and save all vip Pictures and then a button comes with Upgrade or cancel on it so naturally i press upgrade but nothing happens.How do i get to download these wallpapers.?
Well I figured out my problem lol
Email a- original apple id email
Email b- original gamecenter id
Email c- the new gamecenter id
Email d- the temporary email for switching stuff
So originally I had Email a for apple id and icloud, and Email b for gamecenter. I wanted my gamecenter and apple id to be the same. Well today I went on my moms phone and saw that I was still on family sharing under Email d. That's when it hit me, your gamecenter, apple id, and icloud are the same account. By switching my gamecenter id to Email a, I turned that into my new apple id. Now my apple id is back to normal, and my gamecenter is Email c (I don't use Email b anymore so that's why I wanted to switch it).
Basically, my problem was being stupid enough not to think that your gamecenter was connected to your apple id. My problem came from switching my gamecenter email. So that's how to avoid this, don't be an idiot and think your gamecenter is a whole different account. For anyone who ever has this problem, that's why it happened haha. -

I have an aol email account. Some emails come through to my MAC mail (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4) & some don't-very annoying, as I have to sign in to aol.com to make sure I am receiving all my emails.Happens even with email addresses that come to me on a regular basis.
I have no problems sending emails.

Not sure if it will solve that particular problem, but you need to delete the Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124 version.

How do I stop Firefox from upgrading automatically?
I have tried all options under tools options advanced update and NONE of them disable automatic updates. Whichever one is selected, at some point Firefox will upgrade without getting user approval, which is complete and utter crap.
I have to maintain an application which must run on Firefox version 3.6, cannot be ported to any later version, and is only used to access the control application.
I'm sick and tired of having to uninstall and reinstall Firefox every time it goes in direct violation of my settings and updates itself automatically. Why even have a setting for this if hte setting is completely ineffectual?I am very dissatisfied that the new FF automatically updates itself. If this cannot be turned off then you have just lost me as a user. This is the pits considering I have been a user ever since FF replaced NetScape. I do not want this so called feature. That is very arrogant to act like Microsoft in thinking you know better than the end user.
FF used to be the way to go because it allowed users to decide for themselves what they want. Your strong arm attitude is NOT acceptable. Period.
