AOL mail got deleted??

So, I went to check my iPhone for my aol e-mail, and all of it was deleted except for an ad. After panicing, I went on aol.com and found that all of it was in junk mail. I restored it all, and aside from all my spam now being in my inbox, it was fine. It also worked on the apple mail program on my iMac. But when i went onto my phone again, the only mail that had been restored was from two months ago, and mail recieved after that point in time (AOL postmaster when I tried calling for help). When I asked my son, his iPod Touch had the same issue. Any help/ suggestions? I have an iPhone 4s on verizon, and my son has an iPod Touch 4g.

If the OS X version included with your install package is not 10.4.8 which isn't likely, you need to download the 10.4.8 Combo Update (Intel) and re-install 10.4.8 to get the Mail.app to the current version as of 10.4.8 if you plan on using the application but not required for changing the default email reader.

AOL mail getting deleted using Apple Mail

My AOL mail seems to be getting deleted after about a week or so in my inbox. I am using the Apple MAIL with two accounts. One is the AOL and the other is RoadRunner accont. After I have read the e-mail, I have noticed that it would be deleted and I cannot find it in the recently deleted mails.
Is this an AOL problem or setting I need to change or is it on MAIL?

I was experiencing this problem also. Having received no help from AOL online tech support, I created a workaround following the instructions in the posts in this forum by creating a local "On My Mac" mailbox and a rule moving the incoming mail into the On My Mac mailbox.
So far so good. The new problem is, that I have two mail accounts in Apple Mail, my AOL account and my .mac account. My husband also has a mail account (AOL mail). His messages are being moved into my On My Mac mailbox as well as mine. He is not a very clever computer user and will probably be unable to deal with this.
Is there a way to modify my rule so that it doesn't move his messages?

Aol mail wont delete from new mail folder

when i mark all messages from aol mail account as "read" and then refresh the mailbox all the messages i just marked as read return as new? I have tried deleting and reloading the mail account and it has not worked. Please help. Thank you.

Are you trying to send mail to that address from a different address, or from her own address?
What are the specific settings for the account (Incoming and Outgoing servers, port numbers for each, authentication method, and SSL status)?

How do I reinstall mail? I deleted it because I use another email application, however, you need to use mail to make that the primary email application. How do I reinstall mail?

How to keep email on AOL server when mirror email on Mail is deleted?

I linked my AOL account to Mail.app (on my MacBook) via IMAP protocol using the AOL Service Assistant. I understand that under this protocol, the emails on my IMAP is a mirror image of what is on the AOL server and vice versa. Hence if I delete any messages in Mail, it is also deleted on the AOL server. Is there any way that I can delete the message in Mail but have it remain on the AOL server?

I don't use Apple Mail, so I can't directly answer your question, but even if there is a procedure to do what you want, after a certain amount of time, I think it may be about seven days, AOL will still remove the Emails from the server,
If you want to retain all of your AOL mail, you can do it with the AOL software, if it is installed.
Open AOL Preferences > Mail.
Select Save the mail I read & Save the mail I send.
Then still in AOL Preferences, use the scroll bar to navigate to Filing Cabinet, and click on that.
Checkmark Automatically delete items in my filing cabinet, and in the contextual menus, below Delete after, select Never.
Click on OK.

Retrieval of Mail Id's present in Distribution lists which has got deleted!

Hi All,
We are facing a problem regarding the deletion of distribution lists (reason not known) and they were retrieved from the trash folder in SBWP (SAP Business Work Place - the SAP inbox). But there was no trace to go back and look who deleted it and what all distribution lists were deleted. We can retrieve only when something is there in the trash folder. If not in trash folder, then itu2019s gone forever and we cannot retrieve.
So we have implemented two OSS notes. Now we are able to get the details i.e. the name of the distribution list as well as who has deleted it.
Now we need to find the mail Idu2019s present in distribution lists which has got deleted.
We have done some analysis but not able to do this.
So can anybody provide needful information.

Hmm... looks like this is an issue for that email provider for some reason.
A user in a bt.com forums recommends turning off Push Emails settings.

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Turn Push Off.
Coudln't hurt to try it and see if the issue resolves itself.

I use aol mail on pcs, MacBooks and the original iPad. All good. No issues for many years. I recently got an iPad third generation with AT&T lte service. Now much of my wife's email displays as garbage when i use the att service. Genius bar guys could not help. They guessed that the garbage being displayed might be HTML code. We all suspect that there might be some problem with the relationship among aol, AT&T (lte) and Apple, but no one knows where or how. My mail servers are set up the same on the old iPad and the new iPad (IMAP and SMTP). Bottom line is: I got the new iPad, and it does not work for my most important app. Wireless works fine.
Any suggestions? The genius bar guys started a trouble ticket.

I must be part of the "No one" that still uses AOL mail. I still use it (two AOL accounts in fact) and have used it pretty much without issue for years and years.
I have never had an issue with AOL mail on my iPad. I wish that I could say the same for my business Microsoft Exchange account that users swear by. Of the five email accounts that I have, the Exchange account is by far the most unreliable and issue ridden email account that I have.
Even my two Comcast email accounts work far better than my buggy Exchange account.

Deleting AOL mail

I am using the AOL Desktop for mac and would like to empty the folder "SAVED ON MY MAC", but every time I click on it my computer freezes. I think this is because there are thousands of emails in there, which also makes my computer run slow doing everything. Where are theses files stored? Can I go straight to them on the HD and delete, without using the actual AOL app? I have tried doing a search for specific email names in the hard drive, but it comes up with nothing. Thanks

you can go to the Library folder in your home folder, then look for a folder called Mail.
Tool around until you find a folder that says something like AOL mail, look inside and if there is a INBOX folder, open it and see how many items are there.... if it has thousands of emails in it... delete the INBOX folder.

Aol mail 2 inches wide

why is the aol mail page 2 inches wide
I have no idea how long this has been going on, I'm on my fathers computer and I don't use aol. When I tried to bring up his mail the page came up two inches wide. Then when you click on another tab the aol mail page is still there, two inches wide.

Thank you. I got it fixed, I hope. I deleted it from his bookmarks and then went to the site by typing in the address. It came up normal so I bookmarked it again and then tested it from the bookmark and it was fine

I have used aol mail for 15 years, and tried to use mail in OSX , but I got the message that my mail server was not correct for OSX mail. My wife wants to. Keep aol mail, so I would like to be able to switch back. And forth? How do I change the settings?

I have no idea what AOL Cheshire is but the only way you can access an AOL account with an email client such as the Mail.app is via an IMAP account.

The default settings when creating an IMAP account with Mail include storing Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk messages on the server. An IMAP account's Inbox mailbox is stored on the server by default which cannot be turned off but you can change the settings for Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk under the Mailbox Behaviors tab for the account preferences to store these message categories locally on the hard drive instead of on the server.
With the Mail.app, each account's Inbox mailbox is located under inbox regardless the account type so this is normal.
If you change storing Drafts on the hard drive instead of on the server, the account's Drafts mailbox will be located under Drafts in the mailboxes drawer but will not be created automatically by Mail when doing so until you compose a message with the account or save a newly composed message as a Draft.
The same applies to Sent, Trash and Junk.
You can't delete the server stored Voicemail mailbox that is created automatically by AOL nor the other server stored mailboxes created automatically by AOL under your AOL account's icon in the mailboxes drawer.

Can't send email through my aol mail on my iPad 2 after updating to iOS 7

I had to update m iPad because I was no longer able to work a lot of my apps because they kept telling me that there was an update that I had to do in order to even work my apps! I was very reluctant to do it in the first place fearing that I would loose a lot of my pics, videos and or more! Anyway so the other day I sat down and finally did it. After updating my iPad 2 to the new operating system of iOS 7 now I cannot send emails through my aol mail on my iPad. I tried putzing with the settings for smtp and to no avail nothing, I then decided well maybe downloading the aol app would help but still not good enough because it takes up so much room that I had to delete some apps just to get it. I had since deleted the aol app and am still trying to figure out why I keep getting the message I am getting is incorrect] hen it gives me two options which are option 1) Settings and option 2) Cancel. I am in need of assistance here because I can receive mail but cannot send it. Oh and I am able to send mail through my other email addresses on my iPad mail including my me.com and iCloud.com as well as two others but am not able to send through aol. I am loosing my patience with apple very quickly as one why did I have to update the system and why am I forced to update my apps which I feel is completely ridiculous in the first place. Everything was fine until I had to do that and now I cannot keep my iPad on for more then an hour when the battery drains so quickly now because I guess it takes up so much unneeded space! PLEASE HELP ME!

Here is an article I would recommend going through when experiencing issues with mail. The usual fix would be to delete the email account in question and add this account via the preset AOL option. I would also recommend checking with your email provider for security procedures such as two-step verification as this could cause this issue.

Unknown error when trying to set up aol mail

AOL just stopped working as of 10am today! I sent mails this morning and now I cannot get AOL to work. I deleted the account and tried to set up AOL Mail again and I keep getting an "Unknown Error" message! HELP......

Does anyone know how to sync aol mail to your iPad mail?

I am having problems accessing aol mail from safari. It comes up in code format. I can check my mail from the mail app however it says I have 2000 messages all of which were already deleted from my aol account. I would like to sync the accounts so I don't have to manually delete 2000 messages. The aol page allows you to sync a phone or an iPod.... No button for iPad. If someone knows what I should do, all suggestions welcome! Thanks so much!
