as i understood what you wrote above, the current system has crashed and you are trying to save your personal files but i have one question. if you use recovery before backing up your data, i believe, the recovery deleted them. if you are trying to back-up your data from another restore point which failed, we need some more information:
- it is windows restore or one key restore?

How can I access a wider variety of fonts that I can install on my computer? (Designer)

I'm a junior Designer working for a Digital agency with 30+ developers.
The company does not have a font library but a type kit account. I have used Google fonts a few times but the selection there is quite scarce.
Type kit is great for web fonts however it does not allow you to download the font files and install them on to your computer and I want to be able to put them into the design and experiment with them before the designs are taken to the developers.
I have not found a solution for this that is not extremely costly or legal.
As I am the first and only designer in this company, there is no selection of fonts available apart from those that are already installed on the computers.
Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me with my problem please?

TS1600 OS X could not be installed on your computer. OSX can't be installed on the disk Macintosh HD because a recovery system can't be created.

I just bought the new OS X 10.8 and downloaded but when I tried to install it on my computer Installation Failed and I got this message:
"OS X can't be installed on the disk Macintosh HD , because a recovery system can't be created."
I tried so many times but the same message comes out to me each time and when I restart the computer I am back to the same OS X installer and can't access my computer any more so I am really stuck I can't install the new OS X version and can't go back to the old OS X version or access my computer.

OK. You have a Boot Camp partition which is why the issue. See the following:
It seems the issue is that the space at the "bottom" of your available space when Lion installs it's partition is already occupied by BootCamp. The fix was to go into Disk Utility; Select your Hard Drive; Select Partition; Move the bottom of your main partition "up" a bit to create a space for Lion; close Disk Utility; Install Lion; once Lion is successfully installed, go back into Disk Partition and drag the bottom of your main partition back "down" to the bottom of the window.
In your case use Disk Utility to "shrink" your OS X partition a little more than 1 GB.
To resize the drive do the following:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired empty space. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
Remember that you only need to shrink the OS X partition a little more than 1 GB. Now, when you try the Mountain Lion installation the installer will be able to make the Recovery HD.

What did I do wrong? I used to have iTunes installed on this computer and lost it when it crashed. No I can't get past a certain point in the installation point. I keep getting an error message stating that I need to verify that I have access to this file

"Error writing to file: C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes.Resources\es.lproj\iPadLicense.rtf. Verify that you have access to that directory." I know I have access to that directory because on a different computer I can sync my iPad and iPhone. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to go in and authorize or turn on? That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer snow leopard

I just bought a new iMac and want to give my old iMac to my sister. It was bought during the leopard days and I upgraded it to Snow Leopard. I started up my iMac and went into Disk Utilities. I verified and repaired disk permissions. Then I went to verify Disk. This is where all the problems occured. It stops verifying and a pop-up says "Disk Utility sopped verifying "Macintosh HD" "This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk.
So I find the only Snow Leopard disk I have, which happens to be the one from my wife's MacBook Pro, I put in and hold down the "C" key until I get to the installer. I use English as my language, then another pop-up states the Mac OS X can't installed on this computer, I can either restart or install from a back "Time Machine". I didn't want to install, I just wanted to get to the Disk Utilities feature, but it is greyed out, along with everything else.
So here I sit lost on what to do next. Do I reinstall from Time Machine, or do I need to find the original Snow Leopard that I bought for my iMac?
Any Answers to this would be great.

Grey disks are machine model specific, surprised it gave you the limited options it did.
Don't use that disk for anything except the machine intended for it.

Depends upon the opertaing system your now using.
You say you "just bought a new iMac" that means like in the last week and Lion has been out for months now.
So first check under the Apple menu, Snow Leopard is 10.6.x and Lion is 10.7
If you have Snow, you need to order replacement disks from Apple with your serial number (apple menu > about this mac >get more info)
If you have Lion you need to learn some new things.
If it's 10.7 then it's Lion and it doesn't come with disks, a recovery partition that requires a strong reliable fast internet connection to download and reinstall Lion, but it has Disk Utility and can repair your Lion OS partiition, however if the problem is more serious then you need to try to make a Lion Recovery USB and boot from that to reinstall both Lion and the Recovery Partition.
You can thank Apple for adding another layer of complexity in their quest to remove the optical drives
Please make sure to have your data on a storage drive in addition to TimeMachine so you can do what you need, move the data to another machine.

Can't find the onekey recovery in my thinkpad yoga?

I need to backup my system after all the new installation but somehow can't find the onekey recovery in the new thinkpad yoga. Why the thinkpad yoga doesn't come with onekey recovery?
Also I downloaded and installed onekey recovery version 8.0.0.1219 but when I tried the system backup it said "Current system can not support back up". Am I missing something here? Has anyone able to back up their thinkpad yoga?

How to install Onekey Recovery Boot System

A month ago, I bought new Lenovo G460. The unit have Onekey Recovery button that can make you boot to Onekey Recovery System (have own partition)

You can install CC on two computers and use them both (even different OS if needed)
You can also sign out with your Adobe Creative Cloud application on one computer and log in on another computer, the max of active systems is 2 but it should be possible to have them on multiple systems with signing in and out.

How can I detect spyware or keylogger programs directly installed on my computer?

I have a serious problem. My ex had physical access to my MacBook Air and I believe he installed either spyware or a key logger program directly on my computer, as he had administrative access. It could be a program like WebWatcher or Spector Pro. There are a number of programs that allow someone to install this software by downloading it from the internet directly onto your computer.
Unfortunately, I'm a physician whose been involved in reaserch which has classified information on it. It never occurred to me that someone would do something like this, but I am very worried that he has installed something. I recently installed MacScan and Little Snitch to determine if anything was detected.
MacScan Displayed the following:
Last Spware Scan Run on: Sat 4/26/14 01:15 am
Spyware Detected on Last Scan: 0
Total Spyware Detected in all Scans: 148
I'm unsure if what was detected by Mac Scan were simply cookies.

I have two versions of Lightroom installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

While looking at the "Programs and Features" folder on my Windows 7 computer I discovered that I have two versions of Adobe Lightroom installed on my system. One is Lightroom 5.2, installed on 9/19/2013, and the other is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 64-bit, installed on 7/5/2014
- Can I uninstall the older version?
- Will uninstalling the older version cause any problems with the newer version?
- If yes to either question, is there anything I need to do before doing the uninstall (i.e. deactivating, etc.)
Any advice on how to correct this problem is gratefully appreciated.

I thought it was odd that I had two versions of Lightroom installed as well. I have been able to track the issue back to an apparent "bug" in the Lightroom 5.2 update that installed a second version of Lightroom in addition to updating the existing version on my computers. At the time, I posted about it at Lightroom 5 installed twice on my laptop. While I never got an answer to my question, which was "Is this normal?" I did hear from others in the forum the experienced the same problem and had the same question. As time passed, later releases updated one of the two installations, but did not effect the second. Hence, two different versions of Lightroom 5 installed on the same computer.
Uninstalling the older version solved the problem. Thanks

Photoshop Elements 11 boxed software installed once in Dec. 2012 won't install on new computer. Disk can't be read (tested on 3 different computers). How is that even possible of a meticulously clean, well-protected disk?

I need your help!
On December 12th, 2012 I ordered (purchased) by mail an official copy of the boxed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 software from B&H Photo (New York, NY). I installed it successfully without any problem on my then computer. I have enjoyed using the program since then, it’s great. This past week, however, that same computer died and I was force to buy a new computer (Windows 8.1).
To my big surprise, the Elements disk wouldn’t load off my DVD drive. The drive just kept “clicking” for 20 minutes. After trying several times from reboot, for an hour and a half, I then tried installing it on my laptop, just to see if my drive was faulty. No, it wasn’t. It too immediately went into an endless “clicking” routine trying to read the disk. And for one last try, I put it in my sister’s laptop and she got the very same result - endless “clicking”, no install. No computer could read the disk!!!
How is this even possible from a commercially made disk I used only once in 2012! The disk is meticulously clean, unscratched, unscuffed, put away in its original box and stored on my shelf in a cool place away from the sun!

Is there anything you can do about this as I see no reason why I should be forced to spend over a $130 (in Canada) to replace a disk that worked only once!

copy your disc contents to a desktop directory. install from that directory.
