AP 1200 Just goes down hard

We have a 1200 Aironet just go down hard for no reason through out the day, we replaced the Power Injector with a C2960 POE Switch, we also replaced the cabiling. When it goes down hard all three lights are still green as if the AP is still up. We verified the IOS with other stores and everything is the same on the configurations, versions, and IOS.
Can anyone give us a suggestion on what the issue or something else we can look at that we might be over looking?
Couple more things that we have done:

Thanks in advance......

Hello John,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
Please check the POE for the AP and whether it is proper or not.
Types of Power over Ethernet
This section describes various types of Power over Ethernet (PoE) including Cisco pre-standard power, IEEE 802.3af power, and IEEE 802.3at power.
Cisco Pre-Standard Power
The first generation of Cisco pre-standard PoE was designed to power devices such as Cisco IP phones and access points. This pre-standard solution had relatively low power requirements (approximately 6 to 7 watts). Later generations of pre-standard power supported higher power modes (up to 15 Watts) and added power negotiation via Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP). In July 2003, the IEEE ratified the 802.1af standard (up to 15.4 watts of power). With the ratification of IEEE 802.3af, Cisco supports both IEEE 802.3af and Cisco pre-standard PoE concurrently. Cisco has also extended pre-standard power management using CDP negotiation to Cisco IEEE 802.3af compliant devices to further optimize Power Source Equipment (PSE) power management.
When using a Cisco pre-standard source for power, it is important to check the power draw in watts (Table 1) and verify that the PSE can supply enough wattage to the powered device. Depending on the version of your PSE, enough power may not be available to supply some of the newer access points.
IEEE 802.3af Power
The IEEE 802.af-2003 PoE standard:
•Defines terminology to describe a port that acts as a power source to a powered device.
•Defines how a powered device is detected.
•Defines two methods of delivering PoE to the discovered device requiring power.
•End-Point PSE—PoE-capable Ethernet port. Power may be delivered by an end-point PSE to a powered device using the active data wires of an Ethernet port or the spare wires. An end-point PSE, such as a PoE-capable Ethernet switch may implement either scheme.
•Mid-span PSE—Can be used to deliver PoE if an existing non-PoE-capable Ethernet switch is used. If a mid-span PSE is used, it can only implement power delivery over the spare pairs of the copper cabling and cannot be used to deliver PoE over 1000BASE-T connections.
Hope this will help you.

  • Internet/Shared Drive just goes down

    This has been happening for the past few weeks. I will be surfing on my laptop as well as being connected to a shared drive that is connected to the Airport Extreme Base Station. Suddenly...everything just drops. I am still showing a strong connection to the base station and my IP seems to be the same as when I first connected. However, all internet access and the shared drive just disappear. This will continue for about 3 minutes and then...everything is back to normal.
    Not sure what is causing this or what steps I need to do to fix it. Obviously it is very annoying.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Happens to me all the time and it's driving me insane. In fact, it just happened a couple of minutes ago.
    What's even more annoying is that I went out yesterday and bought a new Airport Extreme router to replace my Belkin Pre-N router, because of precisely this problem, thinking (hoping) that it was a router issue.
    Clearly it's not, as it's happened several times today. There HAS to be a way to fix this, no? I keep losing my video iChat sessions, getting interrupted during downloads, screwing up backups to my network drive, etc etc. Infuriating.
    Help, anyone?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Wireless APs going down randomly

    Hi All
    We have a situation where wireless access points are just going down randomly on our network. The situation is as follows:
    We have 2 Cisco 5508 WLCs (licensed for 250 APs each, with more licenses en-route), both running software version 7.2.103.0. Then we have a large-ish number (±300) of Cisco AIR-CAP3502I-E-K9 APs connecting to these two controllers. The APs are either connected to Cisco WS-C2960S switches, or in "older" areas of the network they are connected to WS-C2950 switches. We do not have PoE switches installed yet, so all APs are powered by power injectors (AIR-PWRINJ4=).
    Anyhat, all the access points are in FlexConnect (previously HREAP) mode, and they all connect via trunk ports to the switches in order to get the VLAN per SSID working. Both controllers are in the same mobility group, and both are in the DNS as "cisco-capwap-controller" as they are load balancing. The APs are installed about 25m apart in most areas. There is one installation where two APs are about 10m apart, but this is due to the shape of the building in which they are installed. We have no autonomous APs deployed at all...
    The problem is that some access points work for about a day, and then they just disassociate with whichever controller they were associated to, and then they just fall off the network completely. Both WLCs, the NCS, and the network monitoring system (WhatsUp Gold) show the affected APs as physically unreachable. Looking at the trunk port on the switch, it shows that the port is up and the line protocol is up, input rate is 0 bits/sec, and output rate is up to 70,000bits/sec. There are no input or output errors on the switch port. Here is the output from one such switch port:

    Connecting a console cable to an affected AP is fruitless, as the AP appears to be unresponsive while it is "down". Rebooting the AP, then connecting a console cable works, but then you've lost your syslogs. Looking at the Ethernet interface on the AP, it appears as if the interface is picking up a lot of errors, especially CRC errors, which would indicate a physical cable problem.
    I got our cabling contractor out to do a cable test again, and it passes every time. We have them test both the Systimax and the Molex cable installations of affected APs, and all is OK. They use a Fluke MicroScanner² cable tester which certifies the Cat 6 cable from patch lead to flylead. No problems there, and I trust that the cable is 100% as tested.
    So I swap the power injector of an affected AP (let's call it AP A) with an AP that is not affected by this (let's call this one AP B), and AP A goes down again after a day, or sometimes only a couple of hours. AP B remains operational as usual. If I swap AP A out with a new AP (AP C), then AP C starts showing the same symptoms after about a day, and then it also just goes down. When "suspect" AP A is installed somewhere else, then it works and stays operational for, well, 58 days now. Changing the switch/switch port also makes no difference.
    This happens to one of the APs that are part of the "10m apart deployment", but it also happens to another AP that is completely on its own in a building far away from any other wireless source, so I cannot think that this could be the problem. I happens to an AP that is less than 100m away from its closest WLC, and it happens to an AP that is more than 350km away from its closest controller. All the other APs deployed in our remote campus (350km fibre link) are 100% OK. It happens to APs connected to the older WS-C2950 switches as well as the brand new WS-C2960S switches.
    I am at wits end with this one. Where could the problem be? I trust the "Big Green" company that does our cable installations, and I trust the equipment they use. I also trust both Systimax and Molex to be very good products. And I do trust Cisco, as this is the only network equipment we deploy.
    Where to from here?
    Regards
    Connie

    This issue has now been resolved. Details can be found here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/ts/fn/635/fn63537.html.
    Here is the short version:
    Problem Description:
    Calibration between DRAM and processor on AIR-CAP350x and AIR-LAP126x results in Access Points (APs) failing to boot properly. One symptom includes a white LED and no console output.
    Background:
    The root cause is the DDR memory calibration process that was performed on the Access Points (APs) at the time of manufacture. The fix recalibrates the existing memory hardware, so it will operate more reliably.
    Workaround/Solution:
    The fix for this issue is now publicly available. Go to www.cisco.com to obtain Access Point (AP) IOS code version: 15.2(2)JA or later and/or WLC software version: 7.0.235.3 (or later 7.0 release), 7.2.111.3 (or later 7.2 release) or 7.3.101.0 (or later 7.3 release).
    As of June 2012, new AP3500 and AP1260 products with version ID (VID) V02 are free of this issue.

  • Hard Drive connected - Space Available never goes down when deleting files?

    I have tried 2 different USB drives connected to the new airport N router.
    Both drives work fine, an 80 GB maxtor, then replaced it with a 500GB usb seagate drive. Both drives have the same problem.
    I only hook one drive up and copy over files to the drive. The space available shows up fine, but when I delete any files, the space available never goes down.
    Any ideas how to fix this or is this just a nice big glitch?

    Anyone with a hard drive connected to the N router.
    Just copy some files the drive, then delete them while watching space available. The space available never goes down. What gives? Anyone else seeing this problem?

  • Spun-down hard disk being spun-up just before poweroff

    Hi folks,
    I have two SATA disks attached to my computer, one of them is my main disk and the other one is a backup disk I bought some weeks ago. That second disk is used just once a day, so I spin-down it on boot time with sdparm, being very careful about not frequently spininng-up the hard disk.
    So everything is all right until I decide to shutdown my computer: just before the "POWER OFF" text appears on screen, the second hard disk spins-up and two seconds later my computer power offs. That means an extra spin-up for my hard disk, and I would like to avoid it.
    I have studied /etc/rc.shutdown, and I think I have found the reason which causes this to happen. From /etc/rc.shutdown:
    /sbin/poweroff -d -f -h -i
    The -h flag puts all hard drives in standby mode, so my hard disk spins-up on that moment.
    Has anyone managed to keep spinned-down disks just that way? Is there any way to tell poweroff not to put spun-down hard disk in standby?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
    The problem is that newer kernels send a flush and standby and some disk spun up, then "clack" sound. This is not funny.
    A msg from kernel will be appear when this occurrs
    } else {
    /* XXX: This is for backward compatibility, will be
    * removed. Read Documentation/feature-removal-schedule.txt
    * for more info.
    if ((qc->dev->flags & ATA_DFLAG_SPUNDOWN) &&
    (system_state == SYSTEM_HALT ||
    system_state == SYSTEM_POWER_OFF)) {
    static unsigned long warned;
    if (!test_and_set_bit(0, &warned)) {
    ata_dev_printk(qc->dev, KERN_WARNING,
    "DISK MIGHT NOT BE SPUN DOWN PROPERLY. "
    "UPDATE SHUTDOWN UTILITY\n");
    ata_dev_printk(qc->dev, KERN_WARNING,
    "For more info, visit "
    "http://linux-ata.org/shutdown.html\n");
    /* ->scsi_done is not used, use it for
    * delayed completion.
    scmd->scsi_done = qc->scsidone;
    qc->scsidone = ata_delayed_done;
    scmd->result = SAM_STAT_GOOD;
    return 1;
    /* Issue ATA STANDBY IMMEDIATE command */
    tf->command = ATA_CMD_STANDBYNOW1;
    This line is bad, -h flag not needed on newer kernels since libata send a FLUSH_CACHE and STANDBYNOW.
    Try remove the -h flag, but this is for IDE disk only.
    More info at http://linux-ata.org/shutdown.html
    I will create a ticket in the bugtracker.

    My battery on my iPad mini isn't charging, the charging sign is on, but the battery just keeps going down.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
    Since you did not say how long the battery lasts I am nut sure the battery is the problem.

    Yup, typical hardware issue, sometimes caused by water damage

    LaCalle,
    you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, select the First Aid tab if it’s not already selected, then press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get past the update screen now?

    You mean your Hard Disk Drive capacity, right? Or do you mean memory as in RAM?
    Do you have FileVault turned on?
    What is the capacity of your HDD, and how much free space do you have?
    Download and runWhat Size. It will scan your HDD and list the contents by size. Look through the list for anything that looks suspicious, especially that larger files that are eating up your space.

  • Won't Boot Up - Just Shuts Down

    Hi all, I need some help.
    I'm trying to build a new computer. I'm running the following:
    MSI865 Neo2
    Intel P4 3.0ghz
    2x512mb Kingston DDR400 Ram
    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
    Antec Tru430w PS
    Maxtor 80gb SATA HD
    Whenever i turn on the machine 5-15 seconds later it just turns off. Sometimes I get as far as seeing a message saying "BIOS Not Installed" then something about the Floppy Drive then it shuts off. If I try it again without waiting 5 minutes or so, the monitor doesn't even have time to turn on before it again, just shuts off.
    I've checked all connections, tried reseating ram/video card/etc, and with only the video card and ram connected. I've also tried clearing the CMOS using the jumper the way the manual said to.
    Please help, and thanks in advance for your replies.
    P.S. On SATA HD's....do you need to plug in power to both sata & the standard 4pin? Also is there a special combination to use since with the 9800 pro needs a connection from the power supply to the card to the Hard Drive?

    Quote
    It always just shuts down after it tells me "BIOS Not Installed"
    This implies you have the FIS2R board. This is the message from the Promise controller indicating it is not going to install it's bios since it didn't find a drive. Once you can get into the bios you can disable the Promise controller and get rid of the message.

    On SATA HD's....do you need to plug in power to both sata & the standard 4pin?
    No. This must be one of the SATA drives that has both connectors to ease transition.
    Two beeps is either a memory error or a post failure. Try booting with only one stick of memory installed. If that doesn't work try the other stick. If that doesn't work try one stick in a different slot.

  • I have NAS200 working fine. Of late I found that its performance going down

    I have NAS200 working fine. Of late I found that its performance going down. May lot of stuff delated and coppied on these network drives. Looking for some tool to carry out disk defragmentation and scan disc on network drives. How can I do that without taking out HDD from NAS200

    Defragmentation of a network drive is impossible. Over the network, your computer only has access on a file-by-file basis, not on a sector-by-sector basis.
    If it would be possible to access the disk over the network on a sector-by-sector basis, it wouldn't help anyway because your computer would have to understand the XFS or ext2 filesystem to be able to defragment it, and Windows doesn't understand either.
    Furthermore, because of the way XFS and ext2 work, fragmentation is much less of an issue than with e.g. FAT32.
    If your NAS200 is getting slower over time, it may be possible that your hard disk is slowly but surely dying, and that what you're seeing is that it's correcting low-level errors by retrying reads and writes. It's probably a good idea to check that you have a reliable backup. You do have one, don't you?
    ===Jac
    Frequent NAS200 Answers:
    1. DISABLE the "convert failed logins to guest logins" option to fix permission problems.
    2. NEVER insert or remove hard disks while the power is on. NAS200 doesn't support hot swapping.
    3. ALWAYS use the power button to turn the NAS200 off, don't just unplug it.
    4. Don't trust RAID. Make BACKUPS!
    5. To ACCESS the disks directly, you will need ext2 and/or XFS file systems. I recommend using SystemRescueCD.
    6. Disks will get HOT with standard fan, use "green" disks or consider replacing the fan.
    7. FTP server is insecure and doesn't work behind a NAT router. Use my firmware and SCP instead.
    8. MY FIRMWARE supports SSH shell prompt and SCP for secure file access, and allows running other software.
