AP 1702 Powering options ?

Could AP 1702i be powered by 802.3af  POE ?
In the data sheet,802.3af is not included in the powering options, and the power draw of the ap is 15W.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-1700-series/datasheet-c78-732347.html?cachemode=refresh
In the getting started guide, you can use a 802.3af-compliant device to power AP 1702.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/1700/quick/guide/ap1700getstart.html
Which one is correct ?
Could we use 802.3af-compliant device to power AP 1702 ?

There is a problem in the CDP negotiation between the AP and switch. The AP 1702 (standalone) demand to 16.8 watts ( most of 15.4W that supports PoE ) , which causes the port off and on again to restart the negotiation CDP . Now when you connect the AP directly as is ( in lightweight mode) using a controller to manage it , no problems with CDP negotiations are reported , implying that there are no problems with feeding PoE ( 802.3af )
My question is: If the AP is powered by a 802.3af switch, is the AP fully functional , or lose any functionality? Why demand 16.8 watts ?
The 2702 AP can run on 802.3af (max of 15.4W), but it will downgrade to a 3x3:3 on the 5GHz radio and a 2x2:2 on the 2.4GHz radio. Is any similar the 1702 AP?
Thanks

  • Early 2011 17" MBP -- USB 3.0 portable, reliable, bus-powered option?

    Hi everyone,
I have the above mentioned MacBook Pro, and have been scouring the Internet for quite a while trying to find a solid USB 3.0 solution.
Ideally what I'm looking for is accesibility for portable, bus powered USB 3.0, 7200 RPM hard drives.
I know there are limitations in what expresscard/34 can deliver in power, and have been really trying to figure out solutions, as my drive isn't getting sufficient power from my current card, especially if both usb 3.0 ports are occupied (even if the other is just a camera SD card, the HDD will just 'click').
I've looked at different adapters, and Sonnet seems to make a pretty decent one that has two ports, and can be powered by a wall adapter is purchased from a third-party like OWC. This, however, would still leave me in a situation where I would always be reliant upon electricity, detracting a lot from the portability factor. It is also limited to pretty much only storage devices, and doesn't support USB 3.0 hubs
CalDigit makes an adapter as well that seems to be well received, but it cannot be externally powered from what I can tell… so I assume it would not provide enough power to the drives?
One option I have thought of is to get a USB 3.0 y-adapter, and plug the extra "power" USB plug into the adjacent USB 2.0 port.
Would this work, and likely provide enough power?  Or would the speed be throttled down to 2.0 speeds?
Another option seems to be the CalDigit Thunderbolt hub, which, while expensive… seems to provide a great deal of value. However, that would really limit my portability and effectively limit my USB 3.0 usage to home, or wherever I drag the box around with me to.
Do any of these seem like they might work, or are there any other options I am not thinking of?
It seems like the only way I will have true USB 3.0 functionality is either the CalDigit Thunderbolt hub, or parting with this particular mac (which I'd hate to do). The other thing I would possibly like to expand to is a Blackmagic Intensity module ... which come in USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt ... with the USB 3.0 a bit cheaper (and not requiring a cable...) -- I would never be able to use that with the Expresscard/34 adapters, it seems.
I apologize for this being long, but am hoping I am giving enough information for my question to receive some feedback.
    Thank you!
    John

As a (likely) final update to this thread, after talking to CalDigit one last time, this product is no longer being produced by them, and one of the only vendors left for it seems to be OWC.
The card does not come with the USB "ac adapter"-type cable to add the extra needed power for bus-powered storage devices, and is not available through them, either. The CalDigit tech support rep recommended a regular USB 3.0 y-cable.
When I inquired about driver updates, the gentleman said it will likely continue to be covered for approximately 2 more OS system updates (typically 1.5 years each, so 3 years, according to him). He said that, as I have read, that it is indeed possible that the driver is more unstable under Mavericks.
At this point it seems there is no sure-shot solution based on expresscard/34. This is a huge pitfall, as everything else with my older macbook pro is wonderful (and upgradeable).
Anyway, just wanted to give that final update, as it varies significantly from what I was hoping for in my last post. I suppose I could "try" it, but OWC has a 15% restocking fee, along with having to pay return shipping...both of which I confirmed I would have to pay with OWC. I am not willing to do that, as that comes out to almost $20 just to return the product if it doesn't work correctly. Shame, as I would like to give it a fair try, at least, but they don't seem to be willing to budge, and after getting burned on bad products from the past (from other sites with restocking fees), I am no longer willing to go along with those business practices.
    Good luck, everyone.

  • 6513 -Powering Options

    Hi
I would like to known can i use a combination of 1 AC PS and 1 DC PS on Cisco 6513? Any guideliness to be followed during the above scenario.
    thanks
    regards
    R.Sundara Raja

    Hi
The input Amperes requirement would be 40A and you got to have 6 connections for your dual PS.
This doesnt include the grounding which may be 3 ,2 for your PS and one for your chassis.
We do have powered up some of our 6513s with 25 Sqmm cable.
do check out this link for the power requirements for different models of 6500 and also refer the data sheet/prodcut sheet for more info on the cabling standars you need to follow for powering them up..

  • Ext HD speed and Bus-Powered Firewire 800

After having gone through various External HD over the years, Firewire 800 (WD Studio with power adapter) is by far proving to be best in terms of connecting speed when handling my 350gb+ library.
However, lately, I was exploring the option of having a portable External HD drive with "bus-powered" port so that I don't have to rely on the power plug whenever I want to listen to iTunes library.
    So, here are some questions...
    1) Bus-powered Firewire 800 1TB - no experience with this before. all my firewire external drives had required power adapter, but during this search I just found out that such exists.
Can MBP Firewire 800 port provide enough power to spin 1TB external drive w/out a hiccup??
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/on-the-go
    2) Obviously for a smaller size drive with bus-powered option, I must go with 2.5" drive, which meant, I have either 1TB @ 5400rpm OR 750gb @ 7200rpm for MAX Storage option. I do want 1TB... BUT would 5400rpm / 7200rpm matter when it comes to iTunes library??
I ened up getting my current Firewire 800 external drive after experiencing lagging iTunes speed via USB 2.0 and Firewire 400. But later I found out that slow connecting (constant beach ball when selecting music) is typically resulted from having many playlists/id tags/etc.
So, I want to be sure before I get a new drive, I choose the right speed drive.
Btw, here is my current set up: MBP 13" (mid-2009), iTunes (10.1.2), 500gb 7200rpm internal drive, 8gb memory
Anyone experience with above set-up that I am thinking about??

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I wonder if there might be a problem with the firewire bridge in the WD? The most reliable Firewire chipset that I know of is the Oxford 924+, but not everybody uses these. You might be able to find out what is actually used on the WD web site.
Since the USB connection works, the WD drive itself is probably fine.
Does your FireWire 800 work properly with other devices? If not, or if you don't know, you could try a SMC reset, which may help if the problem is with the FireWire port on the MBP:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411?viewlocale=en_US
Otherwise, you could try the drive in a different enclosure, like the Mercury on the Go from OWC, which has the Oxford 934 chipset. I have WD drives in 3 of these enclosures, and have never had a problem with any of them.
    Good luck!

  • How do you apply rules based on read status?

I migrated to Mail.app from PowerMail, and one of the powerful options available when creating a filter/rule in PowerMail was the ability to check the status of the message (message is/is not read) before applying the rest of the rule.
Is there a way to apply this same check within a rule in Mail.app?
This option is used to create rules that file mail ONLY AFTER it has been read.
Obviously, the user must apply the rule manually since rules are only fired off when mail comes in, or when one highlights one or more message(s) and then selects the "Apply Rules" option from the contextual menu or from the Message menu.
What makes this so powerful is that rather than having to manually file every message after you read it you can create rules that check status for read, if it is check to see if it matches other criteria, and if it does, put it in a folder with other like messages.
Like many people, I have a large number of folders and subfolders into which I file my messages. By creating such a rule, I only have to file a message that matches other criteria once, use that to set up the criteria for the rule, and on subsequent messages that match that criteria, I only have to apply the rule after I have read it.
I could just file all the messages directly into their appropriate folders, but then I have to keep watch on the subfolders for new mail, rather than just watching the inbox, reading the new mail, then using the Apply Rules item to have the read message checked and then filed based on the criteria that it matches.
The logic might look like this.
    Is Read status true
    AND
    The subject contains "Intranet"
    THEN
    Move message to /On My Mac/Work Mail/Current Projects/Intranet Project/ mail folder
    THEN
    Stop processing rules.
Without the ability to test the message's "read status" I have to select the message, right click to select "Move To>" from the contextual menu, then mouse through four sub panes to put the read message in the folder where I want to store it.
I also cannot select a number of read messages and use the Apply Rules option to allow my filing rules to move any number of read messages to their proper storage folders.
If anyone has a method for doing this, please let me know. It is the one thing I miss most about PowerMail.
    Message was edited by: rnsyderpsu

I have been doing some of this, and while it does provide some of the functionality that is lost without the ability to apply rules only to read messages, it is not a complete solution. One of the biggest drawbacks is that it is not easy to selectively limit what new mail shows up the smart mailbox. One approach that works, sort of, is to limit the smart mailbox to only messages from people in my address book. However, not all relevant messages are from people already in my mailbox, so it requires constantly double checking to make sure that things are slipping through the cracks.
The best thing about being able to apply rules, after receiving them, based on the status of a message is that it puts the control in the users hands. It allows you to selectively apply rules, only when you want to apply them. Rather than always/never, you have the ability to apply rules "sometimes/as needed." It allows for fuzzy logic, rather than hard conditions.

  • Bug? chained jQuery Selector in Dynamic Action doesn't work

Just found out, that this jQuery Selector jQuery("#ABOTYPE_REPORT").find("#f01_0001") doesn't work as triggering Element of type "jQuery Selector" in a Dynamic Action.
But this one jQuery("#ABOTYPE_REPORT").find("#f01_0001")[0] worked with type "DOM Element" as triggering Element in a Dynamic Action.
To my knowledge even the first one is a real and valid jQuery Selector and should work.

    Hi Patrick,
It would be really nice if you could support a less strict definition of the jQuery Selector (as i understand DOM Object and jQuery Selector to be the advanced and more powerful options).
In my example i could directly use #f01_0001 if my page wouldn't have more than one TabForm on it (and therefore multiple elements with id f01_0001) ;-)

  • UC on C210 Westmere starter kit

    Hi guys,
I have a customer who already posses a couple of Cisco UCS C210 M2 servers based on preconfigured starter kits ( 2 x X5650, 48Gb RAM, 2 x 146 HDD) and IBM SAN storage. We were planning to deploy Unified Communications following the UC on UCS blueprint. I was going through the guidelines found on this link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/solution_overview_c22-597556.html
What I find problematic here is this paragraph which states that only quad-core cpus are supported at this time:
"Processor: The CPU quantity must match the quantities listed in Tables 1 and 7. The CPU type must either match the types listed in Tables 1 and 7 or be a more powerful option (that is, Intel Xeon or later architecture with better performance as measured by benchmarks such as PassMarks). Only quad-core CPUs are supported at this time. CPU options that are less powerful than the configurations in Tables 1 and 7 are not supported"
This conflicts with the existing X5650 processor which is 6 core.
Does anybody know if this is already overcome? Any experience with such scenario?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elton

  • Opinion Needed on Macbook (college student)

I'm currently the proud owner of an iMac but since I transferred to a university, I've realized the convenience of having a notebook computer. It's portable, I can bring it on campus and work, etc. It's just more convenient to have compared to a desktop. My iMac is a 20 inch from late 2008, with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, and a 250 GB HDD. I was looking at the Macbook and figured I could probably sell my iMac and get one. I got a buyer who'll give me $800 for the iMac and I can get an open-boxed Macbook at Best Buy from a buddy of mine for about $700-800. I feel so left out sometimes because every Mac owner I know has a Macbook and I'm the only one with a desktop so I feel left out of the Mac culture. I just don't know if it's worth it. I'd go from a 20 inch screen to a 13 inch screen. I do a lot of guitar recording/music editing and DVD burning/creation and some iMovie stuff. So I want to know from you: should I do it? Is it worth it? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi warheart1188,
What's the specs on that MacBook? One thing to consider, when comparing desktops vs. portables, is convenience. You'll going to pay the additional premium for portable convenience and in many cases will get a less powerful machine (for the same price as a desktop). While the 'gap' has been closed and there are some pretty powerful options in the Apple portable lineup, that $1,999.99 MacBook Pro is the same price as a 27.5" Quad Core iMac!
I personally went the portable route through college and grad school as I was more than willing to sacrifice the extra "umph" for 24/7 portable convenience. Not to mention, most universities will have labs on campus with nice desktops for situations where you need the extra power.

  • AP 2602 Problem with Code 7.4.100.60

    Hi at all,
I have problems with the code 7.4.100.60 and 2602 AP´s.
The AP´s stops delivering services and no client can connected to them. After a reboot
all problems are solved, but this problem comes back every ten days.
In the logs are only shown a disconnect from these AP´s on the controller.
On the AP´s is nothing to find.
Is this a known problem? Is there a workaround available?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mario

    Hello Mario,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
    Please check the powering options-
    • 802.3af Ethernet Switch
    • Cisco AP2600 Power Injectors (AIR-PWRINJ4=)
    • Cisco AP2600 Local Power Supply (AIR-PWR-B=)
    and Power Draw
    AP2600: 12.95W
Note: When deployed using Power over Ethernet (PoE), the power drawn from the power sourcing equipment will be higher by some amount depending on the length of the interconnecting cable. This additional power may be as high as 2.45W, bringing the total system power draw (access point + cabling) to 15.4W.
    Hope this will help you.

  • 2504 autoinstall fails with code 7.4.100.60 and 7.5.102

I am running into an autoinstall issue with our 2504 WLCs. Up to code version 7.2 I was able to use autoinstall to prime the WLCs by downloading the config from a TFTP server.
After upgrading to 7.4.100.60 the autoinstall fails because the WLC becomes unreachable after it received a DHCP address, gateway, option 150 and the bootfile. If I configure the controller manually, all is working as intended. Before upgrading to code version 7.4, we installed the FUS update 1.8 as described in the release notes.
The DHCP parameters are correctly handed out and I see the IP in the DHCP bindings with the management interface MAC. The WLC accepted all the parameters and in the console output the autoinstall is attempted as intended.
Pinging the DHCP - IP of the WLC is unsuccessful and thus the WLC cannot reach the TFTP server. A ping to a local broadcast shows 2 other clients (APs) on this segement but not the controller. The switch the WLC is connected to is a 3750 with IOS 12.2(58)SE2.

  • Item  Field  Conversion

    Hi,
can any body  give me a brief introduction about Item  Field  Conversion.. When we need to go for this.. and  how can we do this.. please suggest me..
    Thanks
    babu

    Hi,
    Itemfield Conversion :
Adds functions to SAP NetWeaver for converting data to and from XML. It can process unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data. The Conversion Agent can be called using an adapter module in the Adapter Framework of SAP Exchange Infrastructure.
You can find SAP Conversion Agent by Itemfield in the SAP Software Distribution Center on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/swdc.
A partnership with Itemfield aims to introduce complex data transformation capabilities to SAP's offering. But the partners will face significant integration and support challenges.
On 5 December 2005, Itemfield, a provider of data transformation software, announced a partnership agreement with SAP. Under the terms of the agreement, SAP will embed the Itemfield Conversion Agent for SAP NetWeaver in its NetWeaver suite. This is an adaptation of Itemfield’s ContentMaster technology that is designed to plug into the latest release of NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (XI), SAP’s application integration platform.
The addition of SAP to the list of Itemfield partners — which includes IBM, Informatica, Oracle, Microsoft, webMethods and Software AG — moves the company much closer to its goal of positioning ContentMaster as the de facto standard for independent data transformation technology. SAP's NetWeaver XI is achieving growing adoption, with 1,600 installed customers to date, but has somewhat limited transformation features. This combination of factors gives Itemfield an opportunity to substantially boost its own customer base. However, success will require a robust marketing effort, and the ability to scale up quickly to support a growing number of global customers.
The partnership will also help SAP make up for the lack of complex data transformation capabilities in XI — a limitation that SAP customers have had to work around, either by developing custom code or by stretching the use of the XI business process management facility. The Itemfield Conversion Agent for SAP NetWeaver provides XI users with a proven and powerful option to address even the most complex unstructured, semistructured and structured data transformation issues. However, SAP will face a major challenge in effectively supporting, and keeping in a coherent state of integration, the growing number of third-party products in the XI platform (which include iWay and Seeburger adapters, IDS Scheer process-modeling tools, and now Itemfield's technology).
XI customers with complex data transformation requirements: Evaluate whether the Itemfield Conversion Agent for SAP NetWeaver meets your technological and financial needs. Demand contractual guarantees of adequate long-term support from SAP (which offers full support for the product) before making a commitment.
XI customers adopting XI in conjunction with other Itemfield partners' platforms: Consider using Itemfield as a "unified" transformation utility across multiple integration products (but remember that the Itemfield Conversion Agent for SAP NetWeaver is an additional-cost item, subject to the controversial XI volume-based pricing schema).
I hope this will clarify you.

  • [solved] VSFTPD + Virtual Users + different home directories

    Hi All,
I've been trying to get VSFTPD setup to allow ftp access to some of my clients to access their web files. I've got VSFTPD up and running via the Wiki, but my virtual users can't log in. The only thing that I didn't do from the wiki was the "useradd virtual" as I didn't think it was needed. Also, the wiki only covers one directory for all users, I want to have each user to have access to their own web directory and nothing else.  I think I may just have something a little off in my vsftpd file. Hi GravityGripp,
as posted at the beginning of the thread in /etc/vsftpd.conf the 'pam_service_name' option is 'vsftpd' but here you are referencing /etc/pam.d/ftp as PAM service name but in vsftpd.conf you told to use 'vsftpd' as PAM service for auth.
About your need to define different directory for each ftp virtual user in my installation I allow ftp access to virtual users (defined in MySQL and auth  via pam_mysql); to let users have access to their own ftp directory (with different auth read only / read-write) I used the user_config_dir option (see man vsftpd.conf).
Here an extract of my '/etc/vsftpd.conf':
    # This powerful option allows the override of any config option specified
    # in the manual page, on a per-user basis. Usage is simple, and is best
    # illustrated with an example. If you set user_config_dir to be /etc/vsftpd_user_conf
    # and then log on as the user "chris", then vsftpd will apply the settings
    # in the file /etc/vsftpd_user_conf/chris for the duration of the session.
    # Default: (none)
    user_config_dir=/etc/vsftpd/vsftpd-user-conf
Each time I add a new ftp virtual user that need a personal ftp directory, under the dir '/etc/vsftpd/vsftpd-user-conf' I create a file named as the username where I define the personal ftp directory and the auth on it (RO or RW).
Example for user 'test' (file '/etc/vsftpd/vsftpd-user-conf/test'):
    # vsftpd per-user basis config file (override of any config option specified
    # in the vsftpd server config file)
    # TEMPLATE
    # User test - Description for user test
    # Set local root
    local_root=/srv/vsftpd/test
    # Disable any form of FTP write command.
    # Allowed values: YES/NO
    write_enable=YES
Of course the dir must exist and have the right permissions to allow the user to connect.
Hope that this will be of help.
    bye

  • Is the GTX 780TI and Adobe CC

I have a GTX970 but it is an unsupported GPU for Adobe CC, sadly.
So I am searching for a new GPU with almost the same specifactions but what is supported for Adobe CC.
I was looking for the GTX 780 TI, the normal 780 is supported, but is the TI version supported too?

Supported for what? The ray-traced renderer is an obsolete feature, but most cards will work for the rest of AE's features.
Details here: GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects
A more powerful option than the ray-traced renderer is Cinema 4D WHICH COMES INCLUDED FOR FREE WITH AE! details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects

  • Aironet 1100 / 802.3af Power Over Ethernet (POE) Support

I was under the impression that the Aironet 1100 supports 802.3af POE. I purchased a NetGear FS108P POE switch, however, when I plug in the 1100, it does not receive any power.
I have seen references in the documentation to a Cisco inline power injector and a Cisco Catalyst switch that can provide POE to the 1100 and maybe they will work, however, will the 1100 only work with those devices?? If so, it would seem that the 1100 really doesn't support the 802.3af standard and that Cisco's implementation of POE is proprietary.
    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    As you have discovered (unfortunately) is that the 1100 only supports Cisco Pre-standard PoE :( Have a look;
Single 802.11g radio offering 54 Mbps of capacity
2.4 GHz integrated diversity dipole antennas
Available in an autonomous version only
16 MB of memory with 8 MB of storage
Operating temperature range of 32 to 104?F (0 to 40?C)
    **Inline power support (Cisco pre-standard)**
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/prod_brochure0900aecd8035a015.html
The good news is that either of the options you listed will work just fine. I would go for the power injector probably just for neatness sake.
    POWERING OPTIONS
The Cisco Aironet 1100 Series can be powered either locally using the AC-DC power adapter, or over the Ethernet cable when coupled with a device capable of delivering in-line power, such as an in-line power-capable Cisco Catalyst? switch, Catalyst in-line power patch panel, or Cisco Aironet Power Injector.
The AC-DC power adapter is included with the access point and can also be ordered as a spare part. The Cisco Aironet Power Injector can either be configured to the order or can be ordered separately.
    You can use either;
    AIR-PWR-A= Cisco Aironet Power Supply-Input 110-240VAC, Output 48VDC, 380 mA-for 1100 and 1200 Series
AIR-PWRINJ3= Cisco Aironet Power Injector for the 1100 and 1200 Series Access Points
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_data_sheet0900aecd8045690f.html
Hope this helps! And good luck!

  • Black screen when monitor connected to one graphics card port only

A couple of days ago did a back up using SuperDuper. The program is set to send the mac to sleep and when I tried to wake it got a black screen though the system seemed to have woken judging by the sounds. I've had issues after back up with the system freezing so tried rebooting as the first option, unplugging and reconnecting everything but still a black screen. Tried a second monitor and this worked but on reboot it too turned black. I then tried the second graphics card port and this time the screen worked and rebooted fine too. Since then I've tried the original connector/port and sometimes it works sometimes not and mostly even when it does work when I connect at first a reboot results in a black screen. The obvious logic is that this port has gone (ATI Radeon HD 2600) Apple say I have to return the whole kit to base for them to evaluate. I can't afford to be without the Mac for a week or however long it will take so I will just buy a new video card and install myself but just wanted any thoughts on the issue first - could it be anything other than the graphics card? Other hardware/software issues? Can't think why but don't want to shell out if that's not the problem.
Also, will the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 work with my 2008 Mac Pro?
    Many thanks

The 2600 does seem pretty rubbish - never had a Graphics card go on me before - and especially not in less than a year. Of course Apple said I had to return the whole machine to base rather than ship out a new card. It was less disruptive to shell out for a new card than lose the machine for a week or two under warranty. The GT 120 seems fine to me but if you need extra graphics support for 3D, gaming etc then I guess the 4870 is the more powerful option.
Just to confirm it is the graphics card have you tried reseating it in another slot?. Also I found that for a while at least swapping to the second monitor port worked until that bit the dust after a week.
