AP Check Print: Same PDF O/P prints differently from Different Printers

hi ,
I am working on AP Check Printing. We are upgrading our system from 11i to R12.1.3.
I have developed the Check Template for a US Check, the PDF output generated from the "Format Payments Instructions" look good and prints perfectly onto one printer.
But when i print the same o/p to a different printer, it is cutting off all the edges.
I have verified that both the Printers use Universal Pasta Configuration & the same past_pdf.cfg file.
It has "Prepocess = pdftops - paper match {outfile} {infile}" as the command to convert PDF output file into a PS (Post Script).
I am able to reproduce the problem by printing the PS file from unix using the command "lp - d <printername> <PS File Name>".
Please advice ASAP, this is a BLOCKER issue for us and need to solve this at the earliest.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi,
Thanks a bunch for your quick response.
In order to check the driver, i have seen in the following areas.
System Admin => Install => Printers => Register /Type /Style / DRIVER.
The driver postion is actually depending on the print style like "PDF Publisher" or "Portrait For Logo" etc.
Is this the place you want me to check ? or is there anything else i am missing ?
Thanks,
Vijay

  • Check Printing Differs based on Printer..

    Hi All,
We have 3 differenct printers(HP Laser Jet) for check printing purpose.
    Each printer is printing differently.
Please can you suggest how can we take care of this irrespective of printer series.
    Thank you

How are you sending the pdf file to the printer? Are you opening it then manually printing or sending via unix commands or windows commands?
We have had similar issues in windows when would open the file and use the print feature from Adobe Acrobat in Windows platform. Similarly when we used Acrobat 5 vs Acrobat 7 in unix, Acrobat 5 was shrinking the entire document everytime regardless of us using/not using the -shrink command(really weird). I am now able to send a check to HP4100 printer and Ricoh 4500 printer from Windows or Unix with no problem. If you are using Windows make sure you are using a postscript print driver and not pcl...for some reason they don't play well together.

  • Printer disappears from available printers list in Windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit)

Printer model PS C5180: My printer installation just disappears from my PCs at random. Sometimes it takes two weeks and other times two hours for it to happen. I have to uninstall the printer driver and install it again to get the printer back. It happens at both my Lenovo laptop and my ASUS desktop. One has Win7 32 bit and the other Win7 64 bit. Both have all of the driver's updates installed, including the one about lossing connectivity. In both cases the connection is via ethernet. When this happens all of the driver information disappears from the Device Manager printer properties. Only the printer name remains. If I don't solve this I will dispose of the printer and buy another brand. This is highly frustating. Thanks.

  • Has anyone had a problem with viewing the same pdf but it looks different on two computers?

I am plotting a pdf file from a DWG drawing.  The pdf file looks fine on my computer.  However, when I send it to someone else the lines are not visible and it is hard for them to read.  I have tried exporting to pdf and plotting to pdf. The program I am using is AutoCAD 2012 and Adobe Reader X. I am having problems finding a solution to this.

Hello, you posted in a forum about the help files, I understand the possible confusion with its name. I'm going to move this post to the Acrobat forum.

  • Colors print differently when using different printers.

When I print from Illustrator 3 to a Xerox printer, my bright yellow prints bright yellow. When my project is sent to a HP Designjet T1100ps plotter/printer, my bright yellow prints as an orange color. How do I fix this? What am I doing wrong?

I was wondering if you could ever get them to look the same. It's two
different printers on two different papers. Still, you'd think they could
    be closer than you're getting.

  • Can't open same pdf to different page...

I am creating a pdf document that contains hyperlinks to open other pdf files to specific pages by adding #page=pagenumber to the end of the url.  The problem arises when I've opened a pdf with one link, then click a link to the same pdf, but with a different page number specified.  Because that pdf is already open, it will not re-open and go to the second page.  It just sits there on the first page opened in that pdf and does nothing.
I have found ond kludgey work around - adding additional forward slashes in one of the the urls will fool the system into thinking the urls are different and the same pdf can be opened to different pages one after the other, no problem.  I'm hoping someone has a more elegent solution.  Thanks for any advice you can give.

I tried named destinations as you suggested, but didn't work.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.  I may have found a partial fix.  I'm creating my pdf in InDesign CS5 and, on a hunch, I tried setting two button actions: Go To Next View before Go To Url.  For some reason, when I export the document to a pdf, the links will now work as I wanted.  I'm not sure why this works since, from what I read, Go To Next View should only do something if you've gone to a previous view, giving it somewhere to return to.  I'll take it, though.
To answer your first question, the reason I want to link one pdf to multiple pages in a second pdf is that we have many large pdfs containing our company's procedures - yes, they're so large that putting them all in one file is not practical.  So, when I need to refer readers to something in another pdf, I want to have them click a link or button and the second pdf will open in a new window to the page I specified.  One link on one page might take them to the Glossary clear at the back of the other pdf, and another link might take them to the Introduction at the start of the pdf.  I'm amazed from my searching that there isn't more about this issue online.  I have found a few people who experienced the same thing, but none of them have ever solved it.  It's not just limited to buttons in pdfs, either - creating links in an HTML document has the same problem of not being able to open the same document to two different pages successively using two links.

  • Why does the same pdf sometimes open in Photoshop with a white bkgd and sometimes transparent?

I am opening the same pdf file on two different computers with the same version of photoshop.  Why does it open with a transparent background on one computer and a white background on the other?  Is there any way to force it to open with a transparent background?  Thanks.
    Loni

You have different versions of the shared PDF libraries on the different systems and/or different settings on PDF handling, most likely. This can affect transparency. The PDF libraries are shared between Adobe apps, so this may be dependent on anotehr program having changed something in that area...

  • Check Printing - PDF displays fine, Printer prints PS Code

We are using XML Publisher 5.6.2 to build the check printing program.
The template is working fine and we are able to see the checks with
MICR thru the request output ( as PDF ).
Now, we need to print these checks directly to the printer and as per
the metalink note 338990.1, we installed PASTA and XPDF. The output
is now converted to PS and also sent to the printer.
However, the printer prints the PS code instead of interpreting the
PS and printing the check output.
The printer has been setup on unix (AIX 5.3) as a PS printer, however
even if we try the command line lp -dchkprint1 testXML.ps, the code
is printed and not the document.
Can anyone pls provide some insight into either printer setup or any
additional steps required other than PASTA / XPDF and printer setups.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Check printing: Page break in Preview in PDF template

    Hi,
We ran the the check printing report which had two invoices. We uploaded the data file and trying to view in the preview. But it displays the last invoice only. I created text field and wrote "page_break=yes".
But nothing happens. Can you please help me asap?
    Thanks

    Hi,
How do I send the attachments ? And one more question whenever I add the "BODY_START" and "BODY_END" to the repeating group fields, I cannot view the template in preview mode. It runs for a while and finally the web page expires? Am I doing something wrong ? Please let me know. Appreciate your help.
And one more thing in the preview mode we can only view one check, even though there are multiple checks in the data definition XML.
    Thanks,

  • Format Payments check printing program completes in warning APP-FND-00500:

    Hi All,
I'm in process of converting Oracle Payables check printing from reports 6i to XML publisher.
I created template, data definition and changed the output for concurrent program to XML.
I tried printing check and 'Format Payments (Evergreen)' concurrent program completed with warning.
    Log file has following error.
APP-FND-00500: AFPPRN received a return code of failure from routine FDUPRN. An error occurred while AOL tried to spawn the print process
Cause: AFPPRN received a return code of failure from the OSD routine FDUPRN. An error occurred while AOL tried to spawn the print process.
Any one there has any idea what this error is for.
    Thanks
    pallavi

This could have something to do with the fact that your printer is not set up correctly. Can you run a plain text (OReports) file output to the same printer? If not, then the printer is not set up in FND correctly. If you can ...
Remeber that unless you have a more modern printer that can handle PDF documents natively then XMLPs PDF is going to need to be converted to PS or PCL. I would suggest you investigate the PASTA printer driver and get that set up. It provides the ability to call a program pdf2ps for instance, to convert the PDF to PS. There is a bunch of info on metalink

  • SAP Script Check printing Layout, Line Items to display twice in First Page

    Hi All,
This requirement is for US check printing Layout.
My Requirement is to display Items twice on the first page.
Eg : Main Window has 10 Items, I need to display all the Items at the bottom in another window at the bottom.
I can't create 2 Main windows in the first page, as the data from the Main window 1 overflows to Main window 2 in the first page.
I copied print program RFFOUS_C into a Z-version and try to implement the logic, however unable to print the line items in the bottom window.
    Kindly give your valuable Inputs.
    Thanks
    Vinayak

    Hi
I had the same request for a check form in Canada. I solved it by writing the line item output into variables and print these variables in a second window. It was ~10 hours of effort, not a real nice technical solution but it worked.
If you require I can send you a PDF of the sap script form definition. You can contact me at [email protected] Answers can take 1 week or more.
    Best regards

  • AP Check printing

    Hi,
Currently our AP checks print directly to a xerox printer once the concurrent program completes, using a 3rd party tool. I have converted the report to xmlp and am now trying to figure out how to get the same results. Is there a way to not open the PDF file and have it print directly to a printer? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

When I try this, the call to the template is not made...

    return (TRUE);

  • AP Check Printing via BIP

    Hello,
We are down to the last few reports that we need to migrate off of our old system (Optio) onto BIP, and as the title suggests these are our checks (AP first, then payroll).
Our AP checks print with the check itself on the bottom of the page and the list of invoices that the check includes being printed in the top 3/4th of the page (using apxpbfeg to serve up the data as per the docs).
Also, we have the requirement that our AP department can print a single check for up to 300 invoices from the same supplier.
So, we often have multiple pages of details regarding the check, with the check voided at the bottom of all of the pages except the last page which will have the single check used to pay all of the listed invoices (above and on previous pages).
Has anyone tackled this before? If so, would you mind sharing the template [[email protected]]?
Has anyone come up with a way to control the line behavior across pages WITHOUT counting lines on the page (we have been waiting for over three years for a better way Oracle!)?
Please do not just point me to the 2-3 year old articles posted on Tim's blog... Thanks anyway.
    Very Sincerely,
    Scott

Yes, I beleive you are correct.
Thanks for the sample template I have already started down that road and it was nice to see your template is very similiar to what I have so far.
Another example is always nice to have.
I have heard that PDF templates can solve this "line counting" challenge but I have not delved into those as of yet and would rather not start on the last two reports I have to convert, esp. since they are the (all important) checks.
    Thanks again,
    Scott

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 PDF docs print differently to different printers

I have a a saved PDF file.(it was created in FileMaker).
It looks perfect on screen.  It has a signature line____________ date_________ at the bottom of the page.
When I send to our color printer, the signature line moves up to the middle of the page, which is where the text info ends.
When I send to my black and white printer, the signature line remains at the bottom of the page where it belongs.
I have also resent the same pdf to 2 other printers, 1 black and white, and 1 color, and it prints correctly.
So basically, 3 out of 4 printers print correctly.
I have contacted out IT department and was told it was an Adobe problem and not a color printer driver problem.
I don't understand that part of it.
Why would a pdf move information around based on the printer it is sent to?
    Any suggestions?
Is is an Adobe setting for that color printer or is it the printers problem?
    Thanks in advance.

I have now checked other people in my departments Adobe versions.
I have Adobe Pro V9.0.0, and does not print correctly.
1 person has Adobe XI Pro and prints correctly.
1 person has Adobe Pro 9.5.5 and prints correctly.
1 person has Adobe Pro V9.0.0 and does not print correctly
I have now installed the available upgrades which only took me to 9.2.0 and still prints incorrectly.
I wil try and find the other updates and see if that helps.
    thx.
